Brian Sheridan has taken a leave from the priesthood in hope of reaffirming his faith in God. But destiny allows him no time for reflection, when a man appears claiming to be Jesus Christ at last returned to Earth. Charged by his spiritual mentor with uncovering the truth about this amazing figure, who calls himself "Jesus Returned," Brian is aided by journalist Marie Olivier, to whom he is strongly attracted but so far has resisted. Through his contacts deep inside church circles, Brian systematically uncovers evidence about this man claiming to be the Son of God. But as Jesus prepares for a huge revival meeting, the word comes down in a secret missive from Rome: Jesus returned must be stopped at any cost.

Unbelievably original, thought-provoking, suspenseful, and timeless. This book was written in 1996, and I found it as relevant today as when I first read it 22 years ago. My only complaint about the book is that it is a little overwritten to the point where the vocabulary and description sometimes distract from the story. But overall, incredible read.
A piece where belief and mystery collide. What if Christ manifested in today's world. How would he be received? I was given this book by a local pastor. Probably to guard against a messianic complex. lol! No worries though. I'm not that type of teacher.
