Werewolves of Chicago #2

Werewolves of Chicago: Howard

Rate this book
What kind of a werewolf is named Howard? Yeah, I get asked that a lot. The kind suffocated in his youth, who wasn’t taught how to be a man…or a wolf. But then I met Curragh, Xavier and Draik, and they made me prove myself. Something happened. When I helped save their lives less than two months ago as we faced the vicious and evil Viktor Kruglov, I changed. Filled out. Hardened on the outside. My strength, sense of smell, hearing and night-vision are becoming extraordinary. But Alexander Kruglov is still out there so when I meet the unusual girl with the blue hair, and an insane chain of events unfolds, all I want to do is to learn how to harness these powers and use them to protect what's mine…HER. Even if who my friends think she needs protecting from is me.

An action-packed tale of courage, good vs. evil, and leaps of faith in yourself transforming you into who you really are.

A standalone in that each wolf if this suspense mystery romance has his own story told complete in one book.

I won't support an author who bullies others. Unfortunately I liked this book and this author until I saw what she decided to do to other authors. I will not encourage bullying ever. And I will make aware to other readers of what is happening.

A choice has to be made.
Two people from two different worlds who complete each other. I love Howard's story, it shows that even if we aren't like others around us we are still valuable. Howard has skills to offer, which he does, and a deep desire to be part of a pack, something greater than himself. His struggles are all he knows until given the chance to prove himself. Howard may not understand what he is capable of but he is smart enough to listen to his heart and wolf spirit. Once he is accepted there is nothing he won't do for those he loves but even they would be well advised not to get in-between him and his mate. Alisa, can Howard break the wall she has erected around herself? Two people from two different worlds who are so much alike. Howard has a hard choice to make but in the end it is no choice at all - he knows it is wise to listen and follow his wolf.
Once I began reading I couldn't stop. I had to know what happened. You will not be disappointed. Ms. Hopkins continues to share with us wonderful stories. She has given us something everyone can relate to hidden in the words she weaves.
There is a scene that I cringed at, it was graphic and if your imagination gets lost in the story you may have to look away for a moment. Must stories that have graphic describtions do not bother me but Ms. Hopkins wove this into the story so well that I was caught up in the story and not expecting it and at first not clear on why, who, when ... I was right there with the character, I felt the shock, disbelief, worry ...
I could go on and on but I do not want to spoil this wonderful story for you. I will continue to eagerly anticipate great stories from Faleena Hopkins. Her skills are growing with each story and I am happy that she continues to share those stories with us.
I was sent an ARC by the author for a review but truth be told I would read/buy them anyway

Howard: The Underdog
Werewolves of Chicago:
by Faleena Hopkins

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book to be action pack thrilling suspenseful romance story & that I would recommend this book

This book kept me interested & reading from start to finish
Howard captured my attention in Curragh book… So I knew that I had to read this book…. If you read Curragh book you’d know that Howard was scrawny Lil nerd of coroner, who was always treated like the runt of the pack… A lot has changed since then

Howard is the youngest in his new pack, and is in need of guidance with his new found werewolf abilities. Xavier & Draik have taken on the responsibility of teaching him how to pick up scents, & how to use his new found strength. The boys decide that Howard needed to connect with a female, so they went to a night club to loosen up Howard…. Lil did that Xavier & Draik think that Howard would find his mate their

Alisa moved to Chicago to get away from her drunk of father.. The man is a total ass…. Trust me you’ll see. Alisa & her friend (Lynnie) have been friends since they were 9 years ago…. I didn’t like Lynnie when pulled the friends forever card on Alisa when she wanted to stay by Howard’s side

Howard’s mother geez what can I say about her … well nothing good any ways

Lewis, Fahl, Rafe and Jaren are Howard’s old pack mates.. Oh can’t forget about TAHL

I am not going to say more cuz you need to read this book!!!!

This was just awful. I can't even put into words just how bad it was. It had a very manic feel to it. I paid $2 for this and it wasn't worth it. Just no, this author isn't for me.

(RabidReads.com)A werewolf named Howard. Not very werewolfie is it? Not only that, but he’s a science nerd and a medical examiner for the coroners office at the age of twenty two. Once bullied and made fun of by his own pack, the werewolves of Chicago have now made him one of theirs. And he is finally the wolf he should have always been, had he not been crushed by an overbearing mother and packmates that treated him horribly. Along with the change, his body has developed accordingly. Now instead of the scrawny wolf we first met in Curragh’s story, he is buff and filled out. And still pretty unsettled with some of the changes.

I totally fell for Howard’s character. He is young, eager, and all around excited to be part of a good pack. Kinda like the pup that seeks approval from the older dogs. Alisa is a young coat check girl at a nightclub. She has blue hair, rarely stays at a job, and she has no aspirations in life. She has a best friend/roommate, Linnie, and a small apartment. Moving to Chicago is supposed to change her life, after spending most of it with an abusive alcoholic father and a doormat of a mother. When fellow packmates, Xavier and Draik, take Howard out to find him a woman, he meets Alisa briefly. While in the club, no one interests him as all he can think about is Alisa. When he tries to find her again, she has left for the night. Now the search is on, as he doesn’t even know her name.

You don’t have to read Curragh’s story to enjoy Howard’s; I know this because I read them out of order, and back to back. However, you will miss so much back story, miss the introduction of villains, and how Howard finds his courage and wins over the pack. So it would be a really good idea to start with book one. Besides, Curragh’s story is completely worth the read and a page turner.

Howard’s story is quite a bit shorter than Curragh’s, but still has exciting moments(and at least one not for the faint of heart gory scene) and lots of romance and sensual times as well.

This author’s stories are getting better with each new one I read. Her New York Werewolves were good stories as well, although I still have one more to go in that series. I will be reading the rest of both of these series eventually because they are all well written and plotted with characters you can’t help but care about. Add in good world building, and fully realized peripheral characters and this series is one to try sooner, rather than later.

Highly recommended to adult paranormal romance readers.

WEREWOLVES OF CHICAGO; HOWARD-A THRILLING SUSPENSEFUL ROMANTIC STORY.

The story focuses on; ALISA, a sexy, fiery tempered, blue-haired beauty, human and coat-check girl; HOWARD, a sultry, stop your heart gorgeous, powerful werewolf and coroner; Xavier, Curragh and Draik, potent, sexy vigilante werewolves pack mates.

What you'll find in this story; a cast of awesome impressive and engaging characters, spectacular story-line, powerful vivid scene descriptions, fabulous banter, gut-wrenching moments, pent up rage, gripping suspense, action, life threatening incidents, emotions skyrocket, camaraderie, heroic deeds, horrific dangers, a surprise hero, heart-throbbing sizzling romance, and a heart warming conclusion that leaves you wanting more.

Howard is the youngest in the pack, and is in need of guidance with his new found werewolf abilities. Xavier and Draik have taken on the responsibility of teaching him how to pick up scents, and how to use his new found strength. They also feel in needs to find a woman, so they take him to a club, where he meets Alisa and becomes totally smitten. Alisa is in awe over Howard, but feels he and his friends are just out for a good time; she tells them off as she is not that kind of woman. Horrific danger lurks in the shadows, and is coming for Howard.

INCREDIBLE-fast paced well written read by a truly gifted author. The characters are certainly praise-worthy and come alive with breathtaking scene descriptions, exhilarating plot, and fantastic dialogue. I adore Howard, he is a hottie, intelligent, and though he is new to the pack he is not afraid to voice his opinion, sometimes in an arrogant fashion which drives his pack mates nuts. The romance between Alisa and Howard is steamy, and filled with undying devotion. Alisa has a lion-hearted persona and is a most valiant heroine. I relished this story, a most entertaining read. If you treasure shifter romance with danger and action this is an excellent book for your library. {I was gifted a copy of this book and this is my completely honest review}. In the world of shifter romance the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations I highly recommend this book.

Loved Howard!

A werewolf who's scrawny? Small in stature and has no supernatural abilities to speak of? A coroner? And named Howard?!? An underdog indeed but I find I tend to root for underdogs. ;)

Howard was exciting, funny, and suspenseful. The premise grabbed me and Howard, his pack mates, and Alisa drew me in. Hopkins' writing is inherently readable and the story was well constructed and nicely paced.

I loved Howard! He's such a gentle and sweet guy. He's recently undergone a dramatic physical change but it didn't change him. Alisa is quirky and fun. You gotta admire a girl with blue hair. She is definitely courageous and although she put up all kinds of emotional barriers, she melted for Howard. Both Howard and Alisa have similar upbringing which left them with emotional scars. I liked that there was something about them both that pulled at the other. They complemented each other well.

The secondary cast is fantastic. I read this out of order, which I hate doing, but although I would have felt I knew them all better, I didn't feel it took away from the story. I will, of course, be reading Curragh ASAP. And then Xavier. And Hopkins' other werewolf series as well. And probably her other works too because I have a feeling she's going on my favorite authors list. I'll keep y'all posted. ;)

What can I say about Howard?Hmm...

Howard is a shy sweetheart that falls for a blue haired girl named Alisa. Some of his werewolf friends are weremanwhores ( Draik is the worst of them :P ) Curragh is married and a good guy as Howard wants to belong to his pack, so he works hard to achieve that.

Alisa's dad is a drunk asshole and yes u will want to kick his ass.... I did!

Evil Alexander Kruglov seeks to hurt the good werewolfs, but they are strong!!

Lewis, Fahl, Rafe and Jaren are nasty and stupid werewolfs, they want to hurt Howard again after they killed someone that was dear to Howard in the past. In the end is a happy one and those guys have their ass kicked!!

I am not going to say more because you have to read it!!!! Read it and enjoy :)

Great addition to the Werewolves of Chicago series. I loved Howard's story, wanted strangle his mom (and her pack) and loved Alisa's character. Howard is unassuming, intelligent, shy and honorable. He just wants to belong and doesn't know what to do, what he can do or how to control his new body and his wolf. How would you feel if you grew up in two hours?! I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review...and honestly if you haven't read this series, get started! You won't be sorry. Kudos, Faleena!

Did not think I could love the wolves any more. Howard is the wolf you never expect to shine in anything but his exceptional mind. He manages to come into his own with the help of his pact mates. Alisa is just the girl for him. Both have overcome their pasts to be together, and have to make decisions to stay together. A great shifter love story with a happy ending, yet left with more to come. Can't wait for more.

When I finished reading 'Curragh' I was already looking forward to the next book but when Faleena announced 'Howard' to be the next book I was wondering why she picked him. Only a few chapters into the book I loved her decision coz she managed to create a thrilling story around one 'boring' wolf that grows into a great person who doesn't only find himself a new and way better pack but also beautiful Alisa.

I just want to say I love Howard. How can u not. Always the underdog never thinking he was good enough. Then he finds courage and grows into a true wolf but he is still not sure of himself. Until he meets Alisa and realizes he is meant for her and he wants to be great for her and he is. I love reading this book about Howard . can't wait for the next book.

Loved Werewolves of Chicago: Howard: The Underdog
I am glad you chose to write about Howard second simply because it seemed he had the most to prove to the others and he need to come into his own as a werewolf apart from his pack. Him having to deal with his shyness, wolf, strength and mating of his first and only love made the story very intriguing.

Howard's story fit in seamlessly with the rest of his pack.. I've read all of Faleena's wolves and, although love them all, am particularly partial to Chicago. Really exciting story lines, exciting, realistic characters. Again, thank you, Faleena!

This story focuses on Howard, a wolf named Howard? He's a sultry, stop your heart gorgeous werewolf & Coroner, problem is Howard wasn't always like this he just came into his wolfy self after their run in with the Russian Mafia. Now Xavier and Draik, potent, sexy vigilante werewolves
and pack mates, take it upon themselves to teach him what all wolves are taught as pups. Curragh their other pack member, and Howard's hero and father figure is on his Honeymoon in Costa Rica and will be very surprised when he gets back.

This is a cast of awesome impressive and engaging characters, spectacular storyline, powerful vivid scene descriptions, gut-wrenching moments, pent up rage, suspense, action, life threatening incidents, camaraderie, horrific dangers, a surprise hero, heart-throbbing sizzling romance, and a heartwarming conclusion that leaves you wanting more.

Disappointed

The first book was good and set up the tone for the series. This book I feel was lacking. It was good to see Howard come into his own, but it was missing more adventure, for a better word. The way it ended, I have more questions.

I don’t know what it is, but nerdy guys gets this girl’s blood flowing. Might be because I’m a nerd myself. Drawn to the similar types. Howard is definitely attractive for his nerdy ways and his extremely awkward being. I was drawn to Howard in Curragh’s story, despite his wolfy-ness, he is endearing and sweet.

After Xavier and Draik take Howard to a club to break his virginity (yeah seriously, haha), Howard meets and locks eyes with her. Yep, the saucy “if you’re looking to get laid, you’re looking at the wrong person” blue haired girl named Alisa. He is inexplicably drawn to her as much as she is to him. Low and behold, they’re mates. Now that is love at first sight. Haha.

The story was getting really good and then it ended. That made me sad. I needed more pages to turn!!!

The only thing that bugged me was…really? That name? Why not Howie or Ward? Without ruining it for everyone, Howard’s new name makes me think of one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (thank you Supernatural and Charmed.)

Despite that, this was a great story. The character development was perfect. Howard just got better. Alisa was the perfect girl for him.
I look forward to reading Xavier and Draik’s stories further. Draik seems like another tough, elusive soul mate type, so that will be interesting.

Werewolves of Chicago:Howard:The Underdog

Howard was the underdog,he was also geeky. When he met Alisa everything changed.Howard had found his mate.A werewolf from Howard's pack tried to kill her, even Howard's mother did not like her.Elisa was perfect for Howard, she didn't take carp from no one.Howard finally came into his werewolf and boy did he ever change. The only thing I did not like about this book is the fact that it is not long enough.
