Poul William Anderson was an American science fiction author who began his career during one of the Golden Ages of the genre and continued to write and remain popular into the 21st century. He was a founding member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Robert A. Heinlein dedicated his 1985 novel The Cat Who Walks Through Walls to Anderson and eight of the other members of the Citizens' Advisory Council on National Space Policy.[2][3]

Every once in a while I just like to return to my science fiction roots. Poul Anderson is creative and a good story teller, although not one of my top favorites in the genre (Asimov, Niven, Bradbury, etc.). This is a series of short stories (average 50 pages each) with a wide range of settings, events, and peril. There is lots of space travel, robots, and interesting aliens. It is a fun read.

Poul Anderson’s Explorations is a thrilling collection of short stories that dives deep into the wonders of outer space exploration. Each story introduces fascinating new environments and diverse alien species, making for an exciting and thought-provoking read. Anderson masterfully blends scientific curiosity with imaginative storytelling, capturing both the awe and challenges of venturing into the unknown. I found the collection profound, engaging, and full of possibilities that spark excitement for the future of space exploration. Highly recommended for sci-fi fans who love adventures!

This is a collection of short stories by Poul Anderson. Normally I'm a very big fan of Anderson's, but this collection wasn't one of his best. There were a couple of very good stories, particularly something called "Epilogue" and "The Saturn Game," but the rest of the stories seemed rather needlessly convoluted to me. I wasn't always clear on what was going on.

As always, the writing is very good. Anderson was a fine stylist and always wrote tantalizing prose, although I generally like his fantasies better than his SF.
