Having fun with this series so far!

I finally got the first four collector books in Pokemon Adventures as well, making up volumes 1-12, but it'll be a while before I get to read Ruby and Sapphire and get additional context for ORAS, which I understand as taking place after the main series. There are a few things I don't quite understand yet as a result, like Ruby's first encounter with Zinnia's Salamence and him already having a telepathic bond with a Latios. I'm really enjoying it so far, though, not having too much trouble following it since it follows the Delta episode from the ORAS games, which I've played through a few times.

There is some additional things we don't see in the games also, like the addition of a few more people from the Draconid people, who apparently don't like Zinnia and doesn't recognize her as their lorekeeper, which I find to be very interesting. Why? Does it have something to do with her gender? Or perhaps they think she's too reckless? Are they refusing her out of loyalty of the previous lorekeeper Zinnia took the place of?

We also find out that the Devon Corporation plans on teleporting the asteroid to another place away from the Earth, but that the machine they're going to use for that requires them to DRAIN POKEMON LIFE ENERY. This being why Mr. Stone wanted Sapphire and Emerald to train their partner Pokemon so they can use mega evolution - so they can use them to power the machine needed to divert the impending apocalypse. This definitively has some "for the greater good" morals, but it just gives the Devon Corporation a more sinister vibe, that they're willing to harm Pokemon to save the planet. It's even more surprising that Steven is supporting this plan as well. It makes me think that perhaps the Pokemon won't actually die from this, but it still makes them weaker.

We also see the first appearance of Hoopa in this volume, who shows himself ominously to Emerald through one of his hoops, as well as showing a pair of glowing eyes. This was a bit of a surprise, as I don't remember Hoopa playing a role in the ORAS games, so it's making me wonder what role the devious Pokemon will play in this version of the story.

The volume ended with a cliffhanger, so you find out what happens to Sapphire's and Emerald's partner Pokemon in the next one.

There are far too many characters and too few pages to become familiar with them. In addition, there are the pokemon, their moves, the organizations, . . . Only the author knows what's going on.

If Ruby would just tell Sapphire things then we wouldn’t have so many problems!
