“…he wrapped his fingers around her wrist, the one still holding the sprig of mistletoe, and raised it slowly up the wall until it was above her head, held to the wall by both of them. (…) Moaning, she dropped the mistletoe and tugged her hand free to grip the front of his shirt with two fists. She was still holding tight when he lifted his head.
It’s the damn mistletoe, she whispered."
“I’m starting to think you’re a little like that chocolate bar I keep in my fridge for emergencies.
Irresistible?
Bad for me.”
“He made her ache and yearn and burn. She’d told him that he was in, and she meant it. Like it or not, he was definitely in her heart.”
It’s just that you’re always so . . .”
“What?”
“Everything.”
“Maybe I’ve already died and gone o heaven.”
She lifted her head with a smile. “You think this is heaven?”
“You’re touching and kissing me,” he said. “So yeah. I think this is heaven.”
I really loved the sweet and sassy Willa who is the proud owner of South Bark Mutt Shop. Her years in foster care taught her that love wasn’t for her, but it hasn’t kept her from giving all of her heart to her friends and the animals she takes care of. I loved how giving she was, how vulnerable she was especially with Keane, her high school crush who doesn’t remember her.
He hadn’t seen her coming either, not until she’d hit him over the head, knocking him out with her vibrant, sexy, adorable self.
I have to admit I thought I would have a hard time liking Keane because of the fact that he didn’t remember Willa, but I loved him from the start. How he took care of his aunt’s cat, even while complaining that she was the anti-christ (which was hilarious) and add the fact that he loves to read, owns a tool belt and works with his hands and I was signing him up as my next book boyfriend ;-)
I really loved the relationship between them. Two broken people whose childhoods taught them that love wasn’t meant for them and who reacted differently to those lessons. Willa who gives all of herself to her friends and animals and Keane who tries to keep emotion out of everything. Their romance was so wonderful.
I’m really enjoying this series and the wonderful group of friends, how loyal they are too each other and how protective. I also really loved all the adorable animals that Willa and her teams takes care of.
Jill Shalvis knows how to write funny small town romances that has so much heart and I’m really enjoying this series. A must read for all fans of hers.

His dark eyes had warmed to the color of melted dark chocolate. "One question."
"What?" she asked warily.
"Do you always wear X-rated headbands?"
Her hands flew to her head. She'd completely forgotten she was wearing the penis headband. "Are you referring to my reindeer antlers?"
"Reindeer antlers," he repeated.
"That's right."
"Whatever you say." He was smiling now, and of course the rat-fink bastard had a sexy-as-hell smile.
"Listen," he said completely honest. "I'm the guy who needed a fur-sitter because he was terrorized by a ten-pound cat, so I'm not throwing stones here. Speaking of which, where is the little holy terror?"
"She left me half a field mouse," Mason said.
"She's noticed your lack of hunting skills and inability to feed yourself," Sass told him. "She's trying to show you how to hunt. It's a compliment."
"What the hell was that?"This review was originally posted on Night Owl Book Cafe
"Me getting you candy." He held up the bag.
"No, you just peed on me in public."
His mouth twitched.
"You did!" she said, tossing up her hand. "You totally intimidated that poor guy and all he was doing was talking to me."
