In SOUL CORRUPTED, the sequel to SOUL CROSSED, life in Heaven isn't all "happily ever after" for Josh and Grace. Now Guardian Angels, they are entrusted with finding and saving the next potential Antichrist. But Grace is consumed with worry about her family, which is dealing with the aftershocks of her death. She's particularly concerned about her brother Noah, who has turned down a dangerous path of drugs and violence-and she's frustrated by the rules of Heaven, which forbid her from contacting them. Josh has troubles of his own. A former Demon, he questions his ability to guide troubled souls to the light. When he discovers that Noah made a deal with Lucifer and has even been hanging around with Josh's old Demon pal, Keira, he makes a forbidden counter-deal with the Devil to save Noah's soul. Josh's side of the bargain? He has to sever his relationship with Grace. Josh and Grace's world is about to spin out of control, testing the limits of true love and blurring the border between Heaven and Hell. SOUL CORRUPTED is the second installment in Lisa Gail Green's Of Demon and Angels series, which started with SOUL CROSSED.

“Does it matter, Josh? Isn’t Grace more important than anything?”

This was an okay story, but I didn’t like it as much as the first book in the series.

Grace and Josh were all over the place in this book, lying, doing things they shouldn’t be doing, manipulating people, and generally not behaving the way they did in the first book. There was also a distinct lack of romance between the pair of them, which was a real shame.

The storyline in this just didn’t live up to the storyline in the first book for me. The pace was too slow, and there just wasn’t enough excitement. The lack of romance was disappointing too, and the twists didn’t seem to have quite the same impact unfortunately.

Things were all turned upside down by the end of this book, and I do want to read book 3, I just hope it is more like book 1 though.

Of Angels and Demons is a very unique story with a great plot. However, I didn't think that it was executed well enough. From the first book, I've been hooked by the idea of the book, but not actually by the book itself. Unlike the first book, there were no grammatical or typographical errors in this one, but I still enjoyed the first book more.

I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or something, but I somehow felt that this book is more juvenile in comparison to the first book. There were numerous times when I rolled my eyes at the characters, and I sometimes wanted to bump their heads into each other.

To be honest the plot of this book is really great. It's very interesting and unique at the same time, however it lacks that factor that would just grab at the readers to keep on reading. I have to admit that I want to read the third book because of the ending, but I want there to be something like that throughout the whole book as well and not just the ending.

I'm not sure if I'm going to read the third book still. To be honest, for now, I don't feel like reading it, but I do want to find out what happens. Maybe if I can find a detailed summary of the book, then I guess that would be fine for me.

Sequels are the most difficult to write. Trust me, I'd know. Late last year, I was working on a sequel and let's just say, I didn't get very far and what I did write was total trash. I actually looked over it a few weeks ago and erased the entire thing. Point being: Sequels are a pain to write. But Lisa Gail Green nailed Soul Corrupted. It was as good as, if not even better than the first book, Soul Crossed.

I can't say that I liked the first book, Soul Crossed, but I'm amazed by how much I didn't hate this sequel. I still wasn't super into the characters but I felt like because Josh and Grace's relationship was already a done deal, there was some room for a little bit of character development.
I liked the plot of this book so much more then the first one even though this one was still a little blah. There was still a bunch of teen angst and "testing the limits of true love" but I felt this I could deal with it much better in Soul Corrupted.
I'm still not 100% on this series but I did find myself liking Soul Corrupted way more than I thought I would. I think this series would be good for readers who aren't very critical and are just looking for a quick read.

(I received a copy from Netgalley, In exchange for an honest review.)

I didn't like the characters in this as much I liked them in book one, but they were alright.

This was an okay read, but it wasn't as good as book one. On top of not liking the characters as much, the story didn't interest me as much, I found the pacing to be slower, and the twists weren't as good.

Overall, Okay read, but not as enjoyable as the first installment.

I got this book from the publisher by way of Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This is the second installment from the series 'Of Demons and Angels'. I am glad I had the opportunity to read this book since I enjoyed the first one as much as I did.

I am not going to give a full blown synopsis on this book since it is book 2 of the series and I don't want to spoil anyone on that book. We do have Josh, Grace and Keira in this book along with good old Lucifer who is still wreaking havoc on Earth. Their is now a threat of an Anti-Christ who has to be stopped at the same time involving several other people putting them in danger.

I found some things were a little odd in this book such as part of the plot line not being very realistic, but it was not to the point of ruining the story. I found this book to flow very well like the first one did and lots of excitement to keep the pages turning for me. It is also very easy to follow and comprehend. It feel like a pretty simple story but very entertaining at the same time. The author also does very well stringing along her readers. Once to grab ahold, you can't let go. This one ended in a pretty good cliffhanger and I am anxious to see where it will go.

I do like the characters in this series and I love how they evolve so much making you change your mind a hundred times over as to who you like or don't like and who you can trust. I know that eventually they will all be where they are supposed to be, I just hope I enjoy where that is. I really would like to see more wicked bad guys in this book though besides just the few that we get to read. I think it could be a little more exciting in that aspect.

I recommend this to anyone who likes angel or demon stories or YA in general or maybe even Urban fantasy. I am not sure exactly how many books are in this series but I do look forward to reading the next book. Great story and plot line.

I loved the first book so much! So, I knew the second installment would be awesome! I wasn't wrong! This was an excellent read!
I absolutely adore the characters. Grace and Josh are obviously my favorites, but I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't much romance in this book. That was actually my least favorite part of the book.
Kiera is growing on me. I know, I know, she's a demon. The author developed her character in this book, and she even has her own POV throughout the story. Noah, Grace's brother was a new addition too. He has his own POV too.
Okay, so I also don't love the multiple POV's. It seemed like there were too many to really get involved to an intimate level with any of them.
The multiple plots with the different characters was intriguing. It kept me flipping the virtual pages in quick succession. I was curious how each situation was going to be resolved.
The ending was a total shock! This book had a cliffhanger of all cliffhangers! Now, I can't wait to read the next book, coming next May.
Overall, this was a great young adult story. I highly recommend it. This book gets five glittery stars for it's interesting plot and a satisfying read.

I received this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

Lisa Gail Green returns to Grace and Josh’s story in Soul Corrupted. We had the classic demon meets angel story last go around, where the two, naturally, fall in love and then chaos ensues. Well, the chaos seems to be continuing as the hunt for the next Antichrist is still underway.

Grace spends a lot of her time in Heaven checking in on her family, especially her younger brother, Noah, who seems to be having a rough go of things lately. Josh struggles to make her happier because of all this. And he tries to direct them back onto their task in finding the next Antichrist. There’s two possible candidates this go around, a young boy and a preteen girl with a strange, wandering/dead eye. She somehow reminded me of Mad Eye Moody, only you know, with the potential to be absolutely evil!

Then comes the kicker, in order to protect Grace, Josh makes a deal of sorts with Lucifer and basically pretends he hates her, breaks her heart and pretends to be with Keira, who disguises herself as another girl. All to keep Grace distracted from Lucifer’s ultimate plan. And it works. Grace is left heartbroken over Josh’s behavior and is just crushed. To me, this could’ve been done a lot better. I felt like it was too simple and clean cut to be believable, with what Josh actually says in his breaking up with her. And then she readily believes him! After all they went through in the first book, I would’ve thought there would be a bigger argument over this breakup rather than the wishy washy tears we got.

Grace came off a little childish in this one for me. She seemed to bemoan her brother’s life a lot. Like how he’s acting out because he misses her so much. When as we learn from Keira’s point of view—which also takes place in this book—Noah has been going through a lot lately and it doesn’t resolve around missing Grace in that same sense. He’s quite different and it’s chilling! Though, to be honest, I can’t remember much about him from the first book.

I guess one thing I was happy to see in this book was the absence of animal cruelty. I guess that was more of a Cam thing and not something to expect from every book, thank goodness! And the two kids, really, that are the potential Antichrists weren’t as evil as you’d think. The girl was wicked scary, though. Also to note, I was surprised by how small of a role they each played in this one.

There was a pretty shocking twist near the end, but in truth, I sort of saw this coming through hints in the story. I thought it was obvious, really. And it’s not so much of a bad thing either. Just something to say, I guess! LOL! The next, and I assume, final book in this series/trilogy is definitely going to be a doozie! I am curious to see how things will turn out from that particular outcome. And naturally, see how Grace and Josh overcome the new obstacles that they are facing!

As far as romance goes, there really wasn’t much in this one. The little bit of time that Grace and Josh were a couple, only a few kisses were shared before the breakup. Then there’s basically nothing on the horizons for romance. Which is to be expected. We’re talking about the upcoming end of the world. I think the kissing can wait! Don’t you? Haha!

Overall, Soul Corrupted was a pretty good read. I felt like the first one was better, despite my dislike of animal abuse. This one lacked spark. And there were a few too many clichés going around with Grace and her dealing with Josh’s breakup. Minor nuisances like that were a little heavier this go around and kind of detracted from my enjoyment of the story. But I still plan to read its finale whenever that comes out, once I’m this far into a supposed trilogy, there’s little to stop me from finishing it!

If you enjoyed any part of Soul Crossed, I highly recommend reading this one. Despite a few hangups I had, it was still a pretty decent read. Just not the greatest! And if you at all like the whole Heaven and Hell hookups (YA), this is definitely something you might want to look into! Just be sure to start with Soul Crossed!

I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Soul Corrupted continues with Grace and Josh both being in Heaven, as guardian angels. Grace is worried about her younger brother Noah, who has been drifting off into the wrong direction since her death.
Right from the beginning there's been a lot of tension between Grace and Josh. She hasn't completely forgiven him for some of the things he's done. And Josh isn't completely sure if he actually belongs in Heaven.

This books features three main POVs: Grace, Josh and Keira (and one chapter being from Noah's POV).
At first I wasn't too sure about Keira's POV because I really didn't like her in the first book Soul Crossed. But I ended up enjoying her chapters a lot more than the others.

I really enjoyed learning more about Keira and her past. It made her just a tad bit more likable. Though I don't really like her with Noah.

Josh was probably my least favorite character in this book. I did not enjoy his POVs and I think he acted like a complete idiot. Thinking that making a deal with Lucifer would help Grace and pretending to be with someone else. I don't know how he thought that could be a good idea.
Miscommunication was a big problem between Grace and Josh and that is a trope I absolutely hate. THINGS COULD BE SOLVED SO EASILY IF CHARACTERS JUST TALKED TO EACH OTHER.

I quite liked where Grace's storyline headed. Especially her I loved that and it's actually made me quite excited to read the next book.

All in all I liked this book a bit more than the first book. The beginning was a bit slow for me but at around 60% of the book I noticed that I was really getting into the story.

Soul Corrupted is the second book in Lisa Gail Green’s Of Demons and Angels series and once more follows Grace and Josh, now Guardian Angels and determined to protect the next potential Anitchrist.

After the exhausting events of the first book, Soul Crossed, teenagers Grace and Josh are no longer on opposing sides of Heaven and Hell and are now entrusted to find and protect the next Anitchrist. They may have saved each other, but Grace and Josh are about to face a new danger that threatens to tear them apart and sees futures and lives on the line as Lucifer sends his Demon Keira after Grace’s brother Noah, and only by deceiving her, does Josh have the chance to protect the woman he loves.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and found Soul Corrupted to be a worthy follow-up. The story is still told through the POV’s of Grace and Josh, but this time around Keira also takes centre stage. Grace’s bother Noah even featuring in a chapter towards the end of the story.

Lisa Gail Green does a good job continuing to develop the storyline and I must say that after her role and actions in Soul Crossed, I was really interested to discover that I became invested in Keira and her history. Keira isn’t nearly as black and white as she first appeared and I’m excited to see what Green does with her in the next book. I think there’s some real potential in her.

Grace and Josh experience individual struggles in this book, and it’s the actions of one that tears them apart. Obviously as a reader you know the conflicts the characters experience always have a reason, and I’m hoping this truly is the case as Josh and Grace are such a sweet couple, yet obviously get thrown through the wringer a bit in Soul Corrupted.

Ending with Hell starting to take the lead in the war between Heaven and Hell, Soul Corrupted is a quick enjoyable read that leaves me ready to read the third and final book upon its release.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review!

description

My review can also be found on our blog Paein and Ms4Tune

I’m a big believer in giving a series a second chance. I had conflicting feelings about book one, Soul Crossed, mainly because I didn’t really like the ridiculously childish relationship between Grace and Josh. They seemed to spend the whole time running circles around each other and never getting anywhere. Grace was especially irritating, as she spent more time mooning than actually working and yet still, some how, managed to complete her job successfully. Fluke I say! But I did like the ending, it was clever, and I hoped that with the will-they-won’t-they-get-together aspect out of the way, there maybe a chance of this series catching my full attention. Anyway, if you would like to read my original review you can find it HERE.

Soul Crossed begins with Grace and Josh being set the task of discovering the next potential Antichrist and helping them find the right path, but Grace has found something else to moan about in this book! Her family! They are devastated by the loss of their perfect daughter and are falling apart. Grace’s brother Noah is making rash decisions and has turned into a BAD BOY. Worried that Noah could end up in Hell, Grace tries to persuade Mr Griffith’s (Head Angel/their tutor) to let her visit them and tell them she’s okay, but there are rules in heaven and Grace must never reveal herself to her family because the consequences could be catastrophic. Lucifer is angry that Josh and Grace managed to foil his plans in Soul Crossed and is looking for ultimate revenge (I.e. making them fall) so he hatches an evil plot that involves, blackmail, deceit and bargaining. Will he get what he wants?

I really tried to like Grace this time round but she’s just soooo whiny! She has no self confidence unless its in the making of terrible decisions and she can’t see that the world does not, in fact, revolve around her. She’s even managed to convince everyone else that it revolves around her too! If it wasn’t for Grace I think I would have really enjoyed this book, but sadly the story always seemed to come back round to her!

While I couldn’t get my head around Grace’s naive reasoning’s, I did understand Josh’s. He wanted to prove himself but didn’t believe he was good enough, so when he saw an opportunity to prove he could be selfless he jumped at it, that to me was cute, if stupid. Josh is likeable because of his level head. When he realised everything was going wrong he confessed everything, damn the repercussions. I admired him, especially as he had a violent upbringing, it must be hard to trust adults after that.

What I did love about this book was Noah (Grace’s brother) and Keira (the Demon from book 1). These two were broken and lost souls. I loved the romance between them and I loved finding out about Keira’s past, it was so sad. Keira helped prove that their is good in everyone, it’s just about having the confidence and will to do what’s right.

Soul Corrupted reads like a bridging book. It built up speed towards the end, setting the characters up for something huge, but didn’t actually deliver anything, leaving us on a cliff-hanger, waiting for the next book. Sadly, I’m not sure I will be joining them. Unless Grace undergoes a major transformation, and finally starts to see ‘the real world’ I don’t think I can go through another book with her moping and twisting everything to be about her. I can totally understand Noah’s feelings. It’s a shame because I really did enjoy reading everything else, but there are just some characters I just can’t stand and Grace is one of them.

*** NOTE - May contain possible spoilers if you have not read the first book, Soul Crossed***

Book 2 picks up after Grace and Josh has stopped Cam from becoming the antichrist. Although, they died in the process, they are now both living in Heaven with an important mission...to find other souls that have the potential to become the antichrist.

While living in Heaven should be easy, Grace still misses her family. Her brother, Noah, is taking it hard. Grace is forbidden from interfering in their lives but is able to go visit them, and what she sees breaks her heart.

**“They can’t get past my death. You should’ve seen the dark circles Mom had yesterday. Dad’s been working late every night, longer and longer hours, and then there’s Noah.” I stop there because it hurts too much to say out loud what Noah has become. That would make it real.

Josh and Grace's relationship is not what Grace thought it would be. Underneath she still harbors some ill feelings toward Josh for making her fall. It's not that she doesn't still love him and want to be with him, she does. Its just that when she sees Josh with a pretty girl, the feelings of being unable to trust him keep coming up to the surface. She wonders if the girl she saw him with was a potential, she doesn't know who that gir is exactly and when she finds out, it could devestate her.

And our favorite demon, Keira, is back...and she has a job of her own to do.

**I don’t like the way he says friends. “I don’t recall us having any friends.”
Lucifer grins, displaying perfect white teeth. “Smart girl, Keira. Your job is to distract our newest Super Angels above.”
Irma cuts him off. “And the best way to distract them is to break up Gracelyn’s illicit coupling with that boy.”
“You mean Josh?” I bite my lip hard the second the name passes my tongue. It’s bad enough she mentioned Grace’s name. “Josh” was banished from our vocabulary the second he beat Lucifer at his own game. Not that I want to spend another second thinking about either of them. The whole debacle was unfair.

I really think the Author did a great job with furthering along the storyline in this second book. Lucifer's plan for the next antichrist is getting closer. Irma Alvarez has an agenda of her own. Josh and Grace struggle with the new souls that could be the new antichrist, while being distracted with their relationship and Grace's family. I especially liked reading from all 3 main characters POV (Grace, Josh and Keira).

The new characters that pose to be the new antichrist are greatly written. You get a young boy who has had a hard life and is always alone on the streets and hangs out with gangs. A young girl with a creepy eye, and you get something completely unexpected from Keira. The topper... is who the next one is to make a deal with the devil (I bet you its not who you're thinking *wink*). You'll just have to read the book to find out all the devilishly good details!

I read this in one sitting, with bated breath to find out what will happen next. Definitely excited for the next book in the series.

Review

'Soul Corrupted' is the second book in the 'Of Demons and Angels' series. If you haven't read 'Soul Crossed', the first book, then you can check out my review of it here . It's for those who love anything angel or demons related but it's not your everyday 'angelic' story, this novel really is very cruel, intense and evil at moments (which surprised me once again) yet completely kind, easy and good at others. Be warned that the biblical side of the story is sometimes different in some areas, but had to be created so to make the story.
I gave this book a three star mostly because it seemed to be suffering from the dreaded second book syndrome...until the very end that is. Whilst I was reading it I felt that its was not the WHOLE story in a novel, but rather the first PART and the SECOND would be continued in the following novel. I have to point out some flaws:
1. The book is mediocre.
2. It had LITTLE by the way of tension and anticipation.
3. It was NICE but not GOOD.
The book kind of felt like it was a gap filler in the series and most of it just dragged on and kept spouting all this stuff that I think did not have significance to the storyline. What I mean is: we follow Grace and Josh as they do all these actions and royally fail. This leads to...the ending.
The author did little to create tension or anticipation which would have really helped the book in its pace and flow. This made it seriously monotonous.
There were too many nice qualities to the book but not enough good; the ones that make you go 'WOW'. It was sweet at moments and then completely horrifying as we changed from the perspectives of the characters, which leads to...
The book was written with alternating perspectives AND in first person for each character. This made it seriously complicated to read at times. You had to make sure to look at the chapter title to know who you were reading about, though sometimes it was pretty easy to guess. Grace the angel, Josh the demon turned angel and Keira the demon are the three main storytellers with Noah, Grace's brother, having one chapter of his own.
The grammar and spelling were both good but I DID spot two typos.
Overall, a solid three. Congratulations to Lisa Gail Green on publishing 'Soul Corrupted'!

Rating Plan
1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking.
2 star : Didn't like it, didn't find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me.
3 star : An average book. Wasn't bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea.
4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting.
5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR!

MY REVIEW

Okay so i haven't read the first book in the series...and when the author approached me with a review request i was a bit skeptical that i would be able to understand the story and jump into the world building...but i am SO HAPPY to say, i was immediately sucked into the story and was able to understand it without having read book 1! So here's what i understood:

Basically, Grace is a guardian angel and lives in heaven with her boyfriend and fellow guardian angel-Josh. From what i gathered, Josh wasn't always an angel-he was actually a demon that caused Grace's death. Well i guess they fell in love and boom now they're living happily ever after together in heaven. Except it isn't all that cracked up as they thought it would be. Grace misses her family and is torn because she doesn't have the right to meet them; she has to watch her little brother turn to the world of drugs and crime without having the right to help him. Meanwhile, Josh is battling with his insecurities of the past, is he really meant to be an angel? In the background and main plot, the two angels have to find the next Antichrist and save him before Lucifer gets a hold of that person. Because if Lucifer gets hold of the Antichrist, heaven is doomed.

I don't think i need to say anything more about the plot. It was kept simple and yet very intriguing and like i said i was able to jump right into the world of heaven and hell! The concept is pretty cool and i loved that the author did not focus on only one possibility of the Antichrist, we got to see the prospective souls and the struggle the angels faced to help them and figure out who the Antichrist actually was. I can't say i was surprised at whom the Antichrist actually was-i figured it out but it still didn't steal any of the book's awesomeness. Plus, the book was told in Josh's, Grace's, Kiera's and Noah's POV so that definitely keeps things interesting!

Grace is a gentle soul. Yes she can be a hell of a fighter and super protective of her family but for me, she is an angel. She's sweet and gives you this image of her as delicate but not weak. Josh, as i learned, was an ex-player and i guess a little cocky being a demon and all, i loved the fact that he was so in love with Grace and so dedicated to her. However my only issue, is that i think he looked a little weak to me and i get the feeling that he did a total turn from the guy he was in book 1-like his character changed completely not just from bad to good..of course i haven't read the first one so it's just my impression :) Kiera was for me, the most exciting character. She struggles with internal wounds that keep being inflicted on her and despite that fact that sometimes she comes out as evil, you can't help but like and admire her! Noah, the hot bad boy turned evil! He's also suffered most of his life and he is a broken character which made me feel so much more for him!

Awesome cliffhanger ending, i would love to find out what happens next! If you're into angels and demons, this is definitely a series to pick up!

3 ½ stars!

When Josh saved Grace’s life and was given another chance at a better afterlife, with Grace at his side in Heaven. They are finally in each other’s arms, but Grace is having trouble adjusting to her new found happiness – worrying that she doesn’t deserve to be so happy when her family is still in such turmoil over her loss. And when her and Josh are put back on Anti-Christ lookout duty, Grace can only think of her family – her little brother Noah who seems to be headed down the path that Josh was once on, straight to the Boss himself. With Keira now battling for Noah’s soul and the Boss trying to distract Grace and Josh from the next Anti-Christ, the two heavenly beings start to feel the strain on their relationship.

And now that Josh has made a deal with the Boss once more, in an attempt to keep Grace out of harm’s way and save Noah from a terrible decision, Josh is forced to pretend he no longer loves Grace – which breaks her further, but also helps her pull herself together and realize what she wants and how she needs to get it. The only problem with Grace’s problems is everything – Noah may have already lost a losing battle, Josh might be heading back “downstairs”, and Grace could lose everything she ever loved. It’s a battle of good, evil, and the power of love.

I really enjoyed this book – it left right where the last left off, but with Grace’s guilt overwhelming her to the point of affecting everything from her “job” to her relationships. Josh’s all consuming love for Grace should be enough, but you can feel that there is something between them almost from the first page. I definitely thought there could have been a little more insight into Grace’s thoughts for her actions – I was left feeling a little confused and bummed (no spoilers though!). I am hoping that the final book in the series will answer all those burning questions I at least was left with…good middle, but certainly expecting something big for the next book!

Josh and Grace have made it to Guardian Angel status. But not everything is going as they expected. Grace is spending a lot of time watching her family from Heaven, even though that is frowned upon. She is worried about her brother, Noah, and has no idea of how to turn him from the dangers he is facing should he continue along the path he is heading.

Again, Josh has made a deal with the devil. (will he never learn) To save Noah, Josh must give up Grace. So Heaven is not turning out to be a happy ever after for Grace nor Josh.

There are two young possibilities for the Antichrist in this story. And events are heating up as it seems the end is fast approaching.

Soul Corrupted is told from several points of view. For me, this helped a lot in understanding what was happening beyond the view of some characters. It also made some decisions and actions make more sense. Knowing how and why Keira became what she is slightly changed my reactions to her. She’s still a Demon, there is no doubt about that but seeing why, changed hatred to strong dislike.

The ending is a cliffhanger, as I would expect. I’m looking forward to the conclusion to this trilogy. And the revealing of who the Antichrist truly is, and the battle that is certain to come.

I enjoyed Soul Corrupted and would recommend it for readers who enjoy Young Adult Fantasy. Really, most of what you need to decide if this is a story that you would enjoy is in the book description, to say much more would be giving away spoilers.

*I received an e-ARC of Soul Corrupted from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

Note: Thank you magical people in the publishing world for contacting me and allowing me to review this book in exchange for an honest review. As always it’s a pleasure to read this series.

Once upon a time an angel and a demon fell in love. The angel saved the demon as angels typically do. Then the demon made a deal with the devil to save the angel’s brother from damnation and then it all went downhill from there.

In short that’s what Soul Corrupted is about without getting into any of the REALLY good juicy side tales, but with that in mind the side stories ARE what make this book. We finally have the backstory behind Keira, our sassy African-american demoness, and we actually get to deal with the consequences of being an angel while the rest of your family is still alive.

The story was hard to get into at first but soon becomes the best most obsessive thing you will read. Understand that it looks to be this really sweet innocent book but actually starts to deal with issues of the psych and how far you would go to save the ones you love. The relationship between Grace and Josh is not what most Young Adult books present as a perfect one, but something more deep and meaningful. They quickly learn how somethings in a relationship need to be shared and not put on one's own shoulders.

Rating: With all that in mind I would give this book a 3.7. It has potential but the writing style tends to fail it and the plot relies on quite a few cliches, but it’s still a good book to read.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.

Man, I've seen some beautiful covers lately.. But this one needs a moment of appreciation. The cover designer for this series is amazing!

Soul Corrupted is the sequel to the amazing Soul Crossed. That review was quite a while back, so if you've been with me that long, you'll remember that I really enjoyed Soul Crossed. It was a little tropey at times, but it totally pulled me right out of the reading slump I was in at the time. I don't even know how it's possible, but I actually liked Soul Corrupted a bit more. It had this...new level of darkness that the first book didn't have. Of course, the first book had some definite dark moments, but Soul Corrupted has some serious "OH ^&^%" moments.. The stakes are even higher for Josh and Grace. I think that these high stakes brought out a feistier side in Grace that I really wanted to see in Soul Crossed. She's actually becoming more of a fighter, which was an aspect of her personality that really started coming out at the end of Soul Crossed. There's some definite character development for both Grace and Josh, which is great to see. I absolutely adored how supportive Josh was of Grace in this book. She's going through a massively hard time with her brother spiraling downhill back in the land of the living, and Josh made a point of trying to help, even though he himself is still struggling with his own personal demons.

Soul Corrupted is a worthy sequel to Soul Crossed. I can't wait for book three! Five out of five stars!

The second installment of the Of Demons and Angels series, Soul Corrupted continues the battle between Heaven and Hell. Now both in heaven, Josh and Grace have a brand new set of problems to confront. With Grace's brother Noah getting deeper and deeper into evil Grace despairs, forbidden from interfering or revealing herself to him.
This novel had my heart aching... a lot. I found Soul Corrupted to actually be a little better then it's predecessor, Soul Crossed. It's narration was intense and dramatic. Around each corner there was a new twist in the plot, to keep you emotionally invested. I truly found that this novel had a unique voice. It's narration and plot development felt different from stories I have read in the past, not in a good way or a bad way. The Of Demons and Angels series has some dark content to it so I do warn readers about that. I wouldn't go as far as to say I recommend Soul Corrupted to all readers, but I did find it interesting to read and give it FOUR STARS OUT OF FIVE!

Picking up right where the last book left off, we find Josh and Grace, now both angels happily enjoying each other's company in heaven. But the couple only gets a few pages to enjoy their new life before they are wrapped up in a new set of problems. The pacing is very brisk and I found myself effortlessly carried through the story. Unlike the first book that focused on typical high school drama this book is all about the battle for souls.

In addition to the first person narrations of Josh and Grace, this time around we also get inside Noah (Grace's brother) and Keira (Josh's demon friend from the first book) who both prove to be very interesting and sympathetic characters. In fact both of them come off as more sympathetic than Grace even though they are batting for the wrong team, so to speak. I particular enjoyed learning about Keira's past and seeing Grace through Noah's eyes.

There are plenty of twists to the story and I honestly didn't see the ending coming. For all that this is a book about religion, the author managed to avoid being offensive or pushing any beliefs beyond the non controversial, murder is wrong. If she has any message it is: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". Unlike the last book, this one does end on a cliff-hanger.

Free ARC in exchange for honest review.
Honestly i should have read the first book before this, but i didn't know this was a sequel until after.

It wasn't that hard to follow along but i would have liked to know the beginning. This genre for me is tricky, i like some books but hate other's in the same genre, it has to be done well.

I was just bored with the same premise i read before and i don't think i will give this a second chance. it's not the author's fault, i just tire of reading same premises unless it's fresh and new.

I loved Soul Crossed, and I am happy to say that I loved Soul Corrupted just as much! The story has perfect pacing, high stakes and wonderful characters. In addition to Josh and Grace, the secondary characters of Keira and Noah were also well drawn, sympathetic and interesting. This is one romantic fantasy you won’t want to miss! I highly recommend it!

The sequel was actually pretty good! Having three POVs, angles, demons and the potential new Antichrist it felt more like a race against time. But the love interests, the jealousy and the ending even if they made me annoyed to a point were enough to make me want to read more.
