This is an excellent resource!! I have looked through several other books for children on this topic, and I liked this one the best. It is designed to be used during a (pre-existing) devotional time with children ages 6 to 10, and it has seven different lessons in it. Because there is so much, really, to cover on this subject matter when introducing it to children, I found that I really like the format of this, and how it covers seven different topics. The topics covered are:
God Made Them Male and Female (about male and female anatomy)
Go Forth and Multiply (how a man and woman join together)
Wonderfully Made (how babies grow in their mothers' wombs)
The Two Shall Become One Flesh (sex is special and bonds two people together)
You Shall Not Commit Adultery (sex is hurtful when it is outside the bonds of marriage)
Do Not Violate Me (addressing sexual abuse)
Bought With a Price (honor God with our bodies)
This is really a worldview-shaping sort of book. It covers a lot of subjects in a reasonable, responsible way. Each subject is weighty all by itself, and so having ample time to process each subject before moving onto the next is really beneficial! I found it to be a relief to have it laid out in a clear way, neither shortening the subjects nor putting in unnecessary information. It's appropriately descriptive about each of the matters addressed, and there is Scripture that is helpful in giving concrete understandings of these stories (such as Ammon and Tamar in the case of rape). It's really not only about explaining what sex is, but about explaining God's design for a man and wife to be married; why marriage is such a special, set-apart bond; how babies are actually made (the joining of egg and sperm and how that grows into a baby); and so on. I really feel that going through this has expanded my child's worldview in a healthy way. I would definitely recommend this to other Christian families who are ready to introduce these very important subjects.
The one note that I would add is that the book recommends doing all the devotions in seven days straight. I found that although we did each devotion separately, and each one could be done all at once in one day, there were some after which we needed to take a break for a few days, to give some processing time before moving on to the next weighty topic. I would certainly recommend doing it all together in a timely way, but not necessarily one day right after the other.
