I tried to like this one but I just can NOT manage it. I think this is a stupid story in the sense that it insults the reader ~

1. it is obviously Contemporary because of the use of present day rhetoric making the Setting as well as the Timeline already dubious;
2. Genre is not Victorian or not in England (given the already Warped Setting and despite obvious English or London landmarks); and,
3. In Chapter 1 alone, the author writes about Hannah's day including paying~off a blackmailer like a walk in the park. Like there is no imminent danger or threat plus Bridgette's parentage is no big deal so why keep it a secret? There are worse scandals than the secret Hannah is protecting.

Furthermore, danger to all those close to Hannah will be minimized if those in danger are warned so they will take necessary precautions given that they are members of the elite; which means, they have power and resources to ensure their safety plus the means to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. There is also a failure here to create an atmosphere of conflict or danger and I am sorry to say that I did not finish this Too Superficial read.

Some fun dialogue. Unfortunately the mc was TSTL. All self sacrifice and lies. Blech.

Her fake beau

Loved Hannah and Alex’s story. Hannah and Alex have always bantered between each other. With her father raising her dowry all types of men cone out of the woodwork to try and claim her hand. When she tells her father that she and Alex has an understanding she goes to him and asks him to be her fake beau.
Unknown her family and friends she is being blackmailed. When one of the blackmailers is murdered in front of her she believes fleeing is the only way to keep her loved ones safe. Loved the story and series.

I desperately want an Alex for my very own. He’s everything #bookboyfriend dreams are made of. Strong, intelligent, and honorable, he’s all the things we’ve seen in the previous books and so much more. Hannah, on the other hand, drove me to absolute distraction. She’s secretive, combative, and I would have given my eye-teeth to see her have an adult conversation with just about anyone. However, there’s so much chemistry between this pair, that I just couldn’t help but cheer for them to find their Happily Ever After.

regular profanity throughout

I could not in all good conscience read much of this story because of the constant use of profanity.
I’m thinking why set this story so long ago in time, just to use language that is perceived by many today as normal in our vocabulary. What a waste of my time.

Stars 3/4 (Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden)

Hey fellow readers I don’t summarize the books (as there are always great full summaries written that I read myself).

I only give it my personal, general, summary of 5 stars to 1 star.

3 stars: This book is worth a read but didn’t really have me excited about interacting with the book where I could not put it down. It lacks the excitement and well roundness of my personal markers for a great read throughout the book.

Development and interest in main characters, secondary characters, humorous, movement of the book, writing/conversation and romantic/sexual content (1-2 scenes or too much unnecessary).

Read it once and that is enough for me.

However, if this book is part of a series, I would read the next book (pervious book) in the series as it would still peek my reading interest.

I’ll continue reading from this author. I wouldn’t cross the author out of my potential reads in the future.

Adventures and love

Wonderful characters who are at times blind to their love for each other and at others stumbling blindly into adventure and serious danger.

This is waste of one’s time. So Hannah asked Alex to pretend to be her beau so she won’t be claimed by McDonald. When they were confronted by McDonald, she told him they were just friends?! Really?! For a girl that was portrayed intelligent, she was really really stupid! She kept on saying sorry. A couple of pages were like copied and pasted again and again. I’m sorry but I think this book was the worst of this series.

A most disappointing read. I loved the original trilogy when I was younger so I thought to give this a try. HORRID. Not only is Hannah very unlikable in this book her actions make no sense. I.e;

- Truly, who gives a fig about *** parentage when she isn’t illegitimate?
- It seems largely foolish to keep the blackmail a secret from atleast the people who were already privy to the reason for it?
- She wont tell her dad about the blackmail because of his heart (stupid considering how wealthy and vastly more powerful he is in comparison to her literal allowance) but then she wont speak with him either?? Like how is keeping malice with a man with an ailing heart any better???
- She is supposedly someone who speaks her mind and does what she wants, and yet she takes every moment to play nice with a man everyone around her (including herself) has established gives sketchy vibes. And then lets every annoying woman in society either talk down/ignore her outright.
- She is a twat. Im sorry she is so unlikable, im 250 pages in and she is still quite grating on my nerves. Nothing about her is bold or brave. She is rather foolish (continues to meet a literal murderer in private, while antagonizing the only person who is in direct danger of being hurt by the again -literal murderer tailing him)
- Not to mention the fact that she came up with the scheme but makes the leading man seem delusional for playing along??

I will go do my best to finish the book, but I dont see much room for plot development here.

Hannah and Alex

Hannah has never been accepted by the ton, her father having received his title later in life, so she was seen as a merchant's daughter, which of course she was. The fact her father was wealthy enough to buy the majority of them didn't matter. After all, good bloodlines, as if you were a horse, was what mattered.
Alex had grown up the son of a duke, beloved by all, with his male beauty and charming personality. It seemed every woman was attracted to him. His eye for color and fashion had him joining Hannah and Phoebe as a partner in their dress making company. Their undertaking was a huge success and the three of them were thrilled with their success.
All seems well until Alex notices Hannah having notes delivered to her by a street urchin. Unwilling to discuss the notes' contents, Alex is uncomfortable at the thought that his friend might be in some kind of trouble.
You'll not be disappointed in this thrilling romance. It was completely enjoyable.

The Lady Seals Her Fate by Wendy Vella is a fast-paced historical romance. This is a fairly short read, perfect for those historical romance fans with limited reading time. Ms. Vella has penned a well-written book. Hannah's father increased her dowry in hopes she'd have more suitors. Instead, she is chased by men for her dowry. Alex is pulled into her plan to avoid being married off. Their story is packed with amazing characters, action, suspense, humor, drama and sexy bits. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Wendy Vella. The Lady Seals Her Fate is book 5 of The Langley Sisters Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Interesting!

Funny at times and serious at others. This was an overall interesting story, made more so by the fact that the writer kept saying how intelligent the heroine was, yet repeatedly doing idiotic things.

There is absolutely no intelligence in being blackmailed repeatedly over a period of years and then repeatedly by a number of people all in the same week. It just boggles the mind. All these different men are in her life that she could have asked for help yet she felt she could handle the situation in the best way and more effectively than anyone else. Yeah right!

Love in a modiste arrangement

Alex and Hannah have flirted in earlier stories and became business partners! Alex love of fashion and his ability to remain manly was interesting to me! Several times he states not only in this story that he is not a Molly?!! Hannah is headstrong mouthy and reeks of trade! Her father is pushing her to marry and she names Alex as her love interest! No roads in this series lead to a smooth HEA! There is blackmail, shooting, late night kisses and general mayhem! I would love for Ben Alex twin to have a story!

WOW!

Hannah is being forced into making a decision to marry, soon, by her father and is inundated by men only wanting the money her father has set on her.

She asks her "partner" Alex to help her out by pretending to be her beau, but things heat up.

Hannah is also being blackmailed, but no one but her knows by whom.

I had trouble putting this down once the danger began, first to Alex, then to Hannah's originial blackmailer. I did figure out who hired the 2nd blackmailer -- not too suprising, but what an absolutely horrible person.

I laughes and cried throughout this story.

Enjoyable historical romance

Alex and Hannah find their friendship growing into deeper feelings but struggle against admitting it. Hannah is being blackmailed and instead of asking Alex for help runs when the danger escalates. Alex chases her of course and even though the danger isn't over he rescues her in the end, their love is declared and all is well. The action drew me in and kept me reading.

Great read

I'm totally loving this series! Alex and Hannah are both strong headed and like their own ways. Hannah's father increases her dowry and now she has tons of men aiming for her hands and not only that she's being blackmailed. She tells her father that Alex and her have decided to see if they will suit. Which leads her to Alex's home to see him in the middle of the night. Alex is not happy but decides to go along with it.

unexpectedly exciting

Having read all the previous books on he series the relationship between Hannah and Alex felt inevitable. However there are dastardly deeds a foot that complicated the relationship and the characters seem to grow and express their true personalities. It’s an exciting story. The constant repartee between Hannah and Alex can be funny at times. Hannah’s behavior was edgy at times and off putting. It was a story I couldn’t put down.

Hannah is fun and maddening...

...at least Alex finds her so. A fun read! A little racy but still quite sweet. Typos aren't too distracting, but her name is Hanna once and a lack of commas makes for a few re-reads from time to time. Such an adventure: mystery, blackmail, women in business *gasp*, you'll still have much fun with it!

The Lady Seals Her Fate(The Langley Sisters Series)

I enjoyed this well-written Regency period romance. I liked the characters very much. I found that the characters of the men were more delineated. The heroine was one of the most irritating I have encountered in some time. The villain was too transparent too early. Not up to Wendy Bella's usual best.

I found the story exciting and adventurous. The drawback I found was the lead female character Hannah. For being five and twenty she panicked constantly, never thought things through to an intelligent conclusion and she never trusted her friends and family to help her in a crisis. The lead male character, Alex was realistic and made the story worth reading. He truly was the hero of the story.

I take it back! Alex is my favorite! He beat the crap out of the blackmailer and shot the kidnapper! Finally a man who doesn't leave his problems to come back to bite him in the butt! But were the authorities alerted at any point...of course not.
More importantly, Hannah and Alex have the most adorable sniping!! I love these two so much!! My favorite book in the series by far!!

Laughter and thrills

This story was truly a joy to read. As Alex and Hannah began their journey together, the reader couldn't help but be amused at their interplay and swift dialogue. Just as soon as one gets comfortable with the characters, danger and covert activities grab the reader, leaving the reader guessing as to what will happen next. Amazing tale!

This was another enjoyable read in this series - the story kept me interested & I liked the length of the book. The hero was really the star of this book & I never did connect very well with the heroine. Wendy's books are always great & I would recommend this book & all in this series to any historical romance reader.

Another great read from Wendy Vella. I nearly read it in one sitting. Such a progressive story for the regency period. A lady who was in trade (scandal!) and her business partner are brought together by “fate”. After murder, some attempted murders and a kidnapping finally a HEA is found.

We meet both Alex and Hannah in earlier episodes, as co owners of the clothing boutique they set up, together with Phoebe.
They had a touch of attraction then, but in this story, we learn how restrained Alex has been and how feisty Hannah can be.
There's drama and intrigue, kidnapping and murder, as well as really great romance.
Well worth the read!
