Robert Merle
126 books270 followersBorn in Tebessa located in ,what was then, the French colony of Algeria. Robert Merle and his family moved to France in 1918. Merle wrote in many styles and won the Prix Goncourt for his novel Week-end à Zuydcoote. He has also written a 13 book series of historical novels, Fortune de France. Recreating 16th and 17th century France through the eyes of a fictitious Protestant doctor turned spy, he went so far as to write it in the period's French making it virtually untranslatable.
His novels Un animal doué de la raison (A Sentient Animal, 1967), a stark Cold War satire inspired by John Lilly's studies of dolphins and the Caribbean Crisis, and Malevil (1972), a post-apocalyptic story, were both translated into English and filmed, the former as Day of the Dolphin. The film The Day of the Dolphin bore very little resemblance to Merle's story.
He died of a heart attack at his home La Malmaison in Grosrouvre near Paris.

A book full of suspense! Was truly happy that at the end the bad and evil characters (Concini and the queen) got punished and got what they really deserved. Looking forward to the adventures of Pierre Emanuele, Louis the king and all the others.

Annyira nem volt izgalmas, mint az előző részek, viszont nagyon szépen bemutatta, hogyan bánnak XIII. Lajossal gyermekként.
Hát, nem mondom, hogy eszményi gyermekkorom volt, de ha ilyen anyám lett volna, mint ez a Medici Mária, szerintem elszöktem volna otthonról. Szegény Lajos ezt nem tehette meg, ráadásul királyság ide vagy oda, csak előkerült a korbács, meg a vessző. Ez nem valami királyság, engem legalább nem vertek.
Nemrég egy túlméretezett misén is részt vettünk a családdal, volt vagy másfél óra, amit erősen nehezményeztünk (a kislányom konkrétan elájult). Ehhez képest Lajos koronázási szertartása valami öt óra volt, bazira unalmas és fárasztó, amit végigcsinált. Az én lányom is 9 éves most, szóval van viszonyítási alapom.
A könyvre visszatérve, megérdemli az öt csillagot, mert benne volt minden, amit szeretek Merle műveiben, a történelem korhű ábrázolása, emberi jellemrajzok, izgalom, szerelem, humor. Jól illik a sorozatba. Majd most jön "Az élet rózsái".

Très grand cru que ce tome 8/13 de la saga historique « Fortune de France ». La jeunesse de Louis XIII sous la férule de sa mère Marie de Médicis et de son conseiller Concini. Et toujours Pierre-Emmanuel De Siorac, nouveau héros de la série après son père. Superbe.

Avant de lire ce tome, je me suis demandé si c'était une bonne idée de les enchainer sans réfléchir. J'aurais sans doute du m'écouter, parce qu'au final, l'histoire m'a un peu glissé dessus et je m'en souviens à peine.

Mladičký král patří k těm "méně akčním" dílům série, jde spíše o intriky na dvoře mladého krále a to zejména ze strany jeho matky regentky a jejích italských oblíbenců. Dojemné jsou scény setkávání (a loučení) mladého krále se svými sourozenci, velmi zajímavý je okamžik kdy se Ludvík XIII. konečně vzepře a převezme vládu. Zbytek je v podstatě romantika.
A jelikož jsem přečetl osm dílů za sebou, jsem už tou romantikou poněkud přesycen, další díly odkládám do budoucna a dám si pro změnu nějaký kyberpunk :-)
