Amelia Spelled is playing Clue at Camino’s house when one of the guests drops dead in the dining room. There was no sign of weapons, so was it Amelia’s food? Or something just as unpleasant but more sinister? The police arrest Camino, so Amelia and her friends are faced with the task of sifting through the suspects. Will Amelia’s attempts to solve the murder be half-baked? What will Amelia do when she finally discovers Alder’s dark secret?
USA Today best-selling author Morgana Best survived a childhood of deadly spiders and venomous snakes in the Australian outback. Morgana Best writes cozy mysteries and enjoys thinking of delightful new ways to murder her victims.
Very enjoyable read. Very interesting characters....especially the house. Can't wait for the next book k this series! Looking forward to more from this author. I did receive a copy of this book for an honest review.
Camino invites a few friends over one evening for a game of Clue. The guest list included Amelia, Thyme, Ruprecht, and Mint, as well as two other friends Madison, and Sue. During the course of the game, Sue suddenly drops dead. Everybody thinks it is either from a heart attack or stroke, but as with any sudden death, the police must be notified.
Soon it becomes evident that Sue was murdered. When Camino is arrested as the main suspect, based on evidence planted in her house, it becomes obvious that Ruprecht and the others must do what they can to catch the culprit. They fear the matter cannot be left to the police.
Meanwhile, Alder Vervain warns Amelia that somebody wishes to harm her and her friends.
Who killed Sue and why? Sue's sister, Barbara, has been staying with Camino until the funeral. Did she plant the evidence the police found? Why would somebody want to frame Camino? Can Amelia and the group find the killer? Who wants to harm Amelia and her friends? Can they prevent it?
This is a well-written story with short chapters that make for a quick read. ( am definitely looking forward to more books in this series.
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you. My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it. If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give. Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away. Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.
Amelia who owns a bakery but can't bake is a wonderful main character. This story starts with a game of Clue where a real person falls down dead but the people all there were Amelia's friends except for one. When Amelia's friend Camino is arrested the gang with Amelia leading hurry to find out who the killer is. I love the characters in this book from Amelia to her love interest who has a secret of his own Alder, to her group of friends Mint, Thyme, Camino and Ruprecht all who bring something different to the group and to the stories.
The story was well written with a few side stories too like the ongoing feud with the mail carrier and the distrust of Amelia's friend of Alder. The story line was quick paced, and funny. I also love that Amelia's house can protect her and annoy her.
This series just keeps on getting better. I loved book 3.
When Amelia and friends meet at Caminos to play clue with 2 of Caminos friends, Amelia brings a no bake cake because her baking skills are still not good. When one of Caminos friends drops dead, Amelia worries that she accidentally killed her with her no bake cake. When no one else is affected by the no bake cake she realizes that something else is at play here.
As her & her friends investigate, Alder Vervain who is a private detective that her friends don’t like proves to be helpful in solving this mystery. He also reveals a big secret that may change her friends minds about him. As her house helps solve this crime as well, who the murderer is definitely wasn’t a suspect.
Another entertaining read from Morgana Best. Amelia and her friends have another mystery to solve after Camino's dinner and game party goes south when one of the guests drops dead. There are lots of suspects, and the gang works together, with a little witchcraft tossed in, to identify the guilty party. Amelia and Alder are growing more friendly, and Amelia is beginning to trust him, but her friends are still leery of their relationship.Only the future will tell how their romance will develop.
I understand so much is new and learning is hard when there is little confidence. I am hoping the newest cook gets a chance to learn her talents sometime before the next body hits the floor. I love her house and cats . In the past three books her talents get muddied with the solving of murders . I hope she gets a chance to discover interesting oddities about herself. There is lots of potential brewing.
i just love this series. the characters are so engaging. amelia's friends are so positive and supportive. she needs it as she gets into the most awful situations.
as the series progresses, we gain more individuality and insight into ruprecht, camino, thyme and the others. we also start to gain more characters, all with their own quirks and attitudes.
Amelia Spelled is playing Clue (Cluedo for the Brits) with friends when one of the guest drops dead. She was obviously targeted as everyone in the house had eaten and drank the same things. Is one of Amelia's friends a murderer?
A fun, well told story with strong characters and a solid plot line.

As with the last three, super entertaining! Love all the characters, I look forward to seeing how Kayleen the mail lady get what's do! As always I just wish the story was a couple hundred pages longer. Ok maybe a 1000! My bad. Just saying. Enjoyable reading.

I laughed, I gasped, I admired this wonderful book! I believe that this series gets better with every installment! Gotta love Amelia! I do recommend this book wholeheartedly!
Amelia get together with a special date, man, keep getting interrupted. I love Amelia 's house, and look forward to finding out more about it. Amelia has a wonderful group of friends, lucky for her. Read and enjoy!
I am really enjoying this series. Like the previous two books Sit for a Spell is a lite read following the adventures of Amelia and her friends. In each book I look forward to finding out about her latest cooking mishap and there is always something that makes me laugh. On to book 4.
These books are funny, short murder mysteries about a baker named Amelia who can't actually bake. There is real magic in them that the characters use to help them solve mysteries.
