Murder is only perfect when everyone knows you got away with it. Edana Fortunato is the sole surviving heir of two great families whose fates have commingled. On the eve of her inheritance, Edana is summoned to the grand estate to meet the enigmatic Count Montresor. She embarks on the journey, unprepared for the secrets still to be revealed, and unaware that a killer has set the stage for one final act of vengeance upon the Fortunato family. Revenge does not end in THE HOUSE OF MONTRESOR, a sequel to Edgar Allan Poe’s classic revenge tale, “The Cask of Amontillado.”
This wasn't bad and comes across as a decent sequel to Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado", but it was a very dark story. I realize the original tale was about as dark as it gets, but I was hoping to see things progress a little differently in this sequel. The art fit the story well, and as I've said it did work as a sequel, but I think there was some potential missed here.
I have always been a pretty big Poe fan, and the Cask of Amontillado is one of my top 5 Poe short stories. This follow-up does the original so much justice. I had always wondered about old Count Montresor’s deeper motivations, which are explored here through the experiences of Fortunato’s granddaughter. The art is excellent and the story-telling is top notch
I've long been a fan of Poe, and the Cask of Amontillado is one of my favorite stories. I enjoyed their continued story, it's every bit as dark as the original and it fits very well in how Poe wrote. The story and art is good, dark and brooding. This is definitely worth a read.
