How do you get cozy when your new “home” is a frozen tundra? Josey's dreams of small-town Minnesota bliss melt away when her hubby's relocated to a Siberian village. No indoor plumbing or junk food! But this feisty former missionary knows how to multitask: juggling toddler twins, empowering local housewives, spreading God's wordno worries, Josey. It's finding time alone with the man of her dreams that will take some real work!
I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.
I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.
Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.
Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.
Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.
Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.
I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.
I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. Three books in this Josey series; Everything's Coming up Josey, Chill out Josey and Get Cozy Josey. Josey Berglund is a small town Minnesota girl who feels like making a change in her life when her sister marries her former boyfriend and her best friend announces his engagement. The handsome missionary visiting church says he needs her in Russia! So she packs up to serve God in Russia. The second and third books go further into her adventures after her year in Russia with her marriage and family. Good easy books to read!
This is a pleasant, safe read about living away from home without the amenities that many of us take for granted. Josie wanted to go home until she finally went home; then she realized that home was the place where she found happiness with her family. Susan May Warren has been one of my favorite authors for many years.
This third story in this series continues with Josey, Chase, and their twins relocating to Siberia. As they navigate their new life without indoor plumbing and find ways to reach out to the locals and get them to trust them, they experience ups and downs, difficulties, and victories while learning to trust God. This was a fun read.
The third book continues her story as she moves her family to Siberia, mostly to support her husband. She ends up making many friends and reaching out to the women of the village.
I like Josey because I can identify with her. She is insecure about herself, but trusts God to help her. She is braver than I am, though. I don’t think I would be willing to do without indoor plumbing! I admire her dedication to her husband. She moves to Siberia because he’s excited about it, and when his excitement wanes, Josey encourages him. Josey does have to prove to the town and her husband that’s she’s been faithful, but you’ll have to read to find out why.
Once again, I loved this Josey book. I wish I had been able to read it in a shorter amount of time, but even though it took me a while (life...) I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sad to see the Josey series end, though! They're so familiar and I love them. ^.^ Definitely a series I want on my shelf!
This is meant as a quick read, but I read it over a period of six weeks. It's set in Siberia among the Nentze (sp) people and I actually know people who work with them, so that was a bonus. It's a pleasant story of family, friendships, and extremely cold weather and outhouses.
This is a cute third installment to the Josey books. Reading about Josey, her hubby and preschool twins taking their adventures in Russia was so entertaining. It *almost* makes me want to visit there (notice I said almost...Russia sounds too cold...brrr).
I really enjoyed this series of books. It was disappointing that this was the last one. The characters were real and drew you into their lives. It is a must read!
Not sure if it was an "off" time for me in my reading or what,so I can't say anything negative about the book and don't want to sway anyone else who might want to read this one.
Get Cozy, Josey is a simple, interesting, well-written romance. It keeps the reader's attention throughout with realistic dialogue, well-drawn characters, and a good storyline.
The last book in the Josey series, Josey is bamboozled into agreeing to go with Chase to study and assist a small cultural group in Siberia, with their three-year-old twins in tow. Although I have enjoyed this whole series, I really do not like Chase at all. Throughout the series, he manipulates Josey into doing all kind of things, which she thinks she has to support to be a submissive wife by biblical standards. Then he takes off, immerses himself in his work, and leaves her to fend for herself in a basically primitive environment. To top it off, he freezes her out for months if she makes a mistake of any kind. With minimal repentance on his part, Josey always forgives him. In this book, I was so angry at his treatment of Josey I almost didn't finish. The last couple of chapters kind of erase and explain away the things that upset me, but there was so little show of repentance that I had a hard time accepting that as an appropriate closure. I don't think this book represents adequately what the Bible means in regard to submission. Women are not to check their brains at the door and go along with a husband's trickery. And husbands do not get a free pass to do what they want in the family without discussing plans with their wives. If Josey and Chase were a real couple, I don't think they would be married much longer. I still enjoyed the series, and it made me think about what I value in a Christian marriage relationship.
I’m not sure I’d want to take two little bundles of “joy” to Siberia, let alone myself, but this is what Josey has done because she believes she needs to do it to show Chase she is supportive of him. Things aren’t what she pictures or even what Chase pictured, but Josey is determined to make the best of things. If I were in her place, I think I’d have given up and gone home the first chance I had. I mean, I do love my indoor plumbing! However, Josey and Chase learn many powerful lessons that will change their lives. They overcome many obstacles and break down many cultural walls to reach out to those around them. This is genuine missionary work! Susan May Warren is one of those authors, and when I hear she has a new book out, I will climb the highest mountain and forge the deepest valley to get it. Every book I read of hers has filled me with so many thoughts and personal lessons. They are not just words but profound, touching, relatable examples of what God can do in our lives! They flow with fantastic images so vivid that it’s easy to get swept away and believe it’s real. Whatever Ms. Warren writes, I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a life-changing way. I highly recommend that you pick this book up. The publisher gave me this book, but this did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
My thoughts: Get Cozy Josie is a women's fiction written in first person. I've read the other two books in the series a long time ago and somehow I missed this one when it originally came out. I was glad to read it now. I was glad to get reconnected with Josie and Chase and see what life was like for them in Siberia. It was laugh out loud funny at times and other times it was very sad. My heart broke for that community and all the hardships they faced. Some of which I am all too familiar with, but most of them I was not. You will love Get Cozy Josie. Pick up your copy today. This was a verified purchase and all opinions are my own.
I read the last book first. So now I'll have to backtrack.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots of laughs. When Mosey agrees to go with her husband to Siberia with two year old twins, my first thought was they had lost their minds. I believe you' all lover the characters and their story! I didn't feel like I'd jumped into the end of the story but now I can't wait to start at the beginning!
This is the third book in the Josey series. You really need to read the books in order, so start with 1 and 2 before you read this one. As before, there's lots of laugh and cry about in this book, plus you get to experience winter in Siberia with 3 year old twins! I really enjoyed this whole series.
Adventures abound as Josey, Chase and the twins embark on a short-term stay in Siberia. Josey reaches out to the women in the community and wins them over. Another great series by one of my favorite author.
