Interesting -- this book covers mostly fruits and vegetables with a few other staples like milk, beef, chicken, eggs, coffee and chocolate to name a few.

Information provided includes season available & god varieties (fruits and veggies), what to look for, storage and prep tips, nutritional highlights and what the food goes well with. There are paragraphs about each food, their organic advantage and uses and there are sometimes other informational paragraphs (highlighted in green) relating to specific subjects, e.g. "Dangers in Conventional Dairy Products" found in the section about "Cheese and Other Dairy".

Finally, almost every food has at least one recipe accompanying it.

It seems to be a really informative book. First it tells you a lot about the standards and what it means to be certified organic. Then it also lists a lot of fruits and veggies, giving you the season, good brands to buy, and also inserts a little recipe for that food item. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but Amazon reviewers say it's great. (Not a Vegan/Vegetarian book though, so you'll have to substitute for those).

Overall a good book to have on hand. =)

This book was mostly helpful in knowing what seasons what items grow and at giving me a general idea of why going organic is such a very good idea. If you want something focused more on the reasons to go organic, look for another book. If you want a blow by blow of what foods to buy at what times and why they are better organic, then this is the book for you.

I used this book for my research paper, and it was pretty helpful. I got a lot of notecards out of it and it did fit in with my topic. I definitely would not read this if I didn't need to for school, though.
