From the first chapter I was hooked!

Advance is so descriptive I could really get lost in the book! Hence why I managed to finish it in a day!!!

Although Faith goes through so much, what I like about her is that she’s still stubborn, spunky, headstrong and loveable!

Kye is the ultimate alpha male! It’s clear to see how much he would do to make sure Faith is happy. There is nothing he wouldn’t do to protect and love her.

Johnson Franks is portrayed brilliantly as the bad guy!! I don’t think I could have hated him more if I tried!

As for Fraser, I pitied him, loved him, hated him and despised him! He’s amazing at fooling and manipulating people!

Overall I loved this book. I can’t wait to read the next one!

4 stars ****

Advance, was not at all what I was expecting. I love Dystopian books but I'd never read anything like this before and I have to say I was pretty ignorant with the whole sci-fi elements in the past. I won't be anymore.

This had the feel of I, Robot, without the robots. That's the kind of world this presented to me in my head. However I, Robot was tame. This was more depraved and gritty. There were things in this that made me cringe but were integral to the storyline.

I liked the lead female character Faith. Although at times I though she was a little whiny and foolish. But when you read the book you'll understand why. I loved Kye, very alpha, very hot but sensitive. There were characters that I really did not like but I can't explain why without giving away some of the plot.

I really enjoyed the whole storyline, it drew me in and I found myself getting frustrated, angry, sad, anxious and scared. The whole thing was a rollercoaster ride.

The romance was quite tame to what I'm used to, however, it wasn't what the book was about. Yes it was a dystopian romance but I think too much would have detracted from the story. It didn't need too much sex. (Never thought I'd say that.)

I would definitely read more by this author and I no doubt will continue the Advance story.

Happy Reading :-)

What do you do when you discover that everything about your life is a lie. You have been manipulated, used as a guinea pig and lied to by the people you thought you could trust. This is Faith's reality. I really liked Faith she is feisty and determined but her she is also too trusting in a lot of ways. Kye has come from the future to rescue Faith and he is the perfect man. There are so many twist to this story that you just have to keep reading to find out what happens. I hope the next book will be just as good.

When I hear the world Sci-Fi or dystopian, I always think of the TV series that I used to watch with my dad like Doctor Who and I always loved to watch them. Now reading them was another story. I hated reading Sci-Fi no matter it was romance or just pure Sci-Fi fiction because I got bored a lot at the story. Until I picked up Advance and started reading it. Yeah, my mind was completely changed drastically because was a story that completely blew me away. I know I know, I despised Sci-Fi but there was just something magnetic about it that had me so captivated. Written by a new to me author who I am going to start stalking, Advance was just a perfect story that had me consider reading Sci-Fi romance.

You know the time when you read a good book. You feel happy and you become so invested in the characters, storyline and dialogue. Well to my astonishment, Advance was a book that completely made me feel this way. I am probably having a moment of total disbelief that I loved a book like this but it was all to do with the story as a whole. It was simply magnificent. The story was different and soon as I started the first chapter, I was so hooked. Advance was so mesmerizing and unique. I gravitate towards unique books that make me become glued to my book. I was so glued to the book. Advance had the right dose of action, the right dose of drama and the right dose of plot that made me become so engrossed. Advance gave me the trills and excitement that I had shivers all over my body. I was just in awe that K.A. Duggsy focused on the emotions and the plot that I was even shocked that iT did not have any sex scenes because it did not need any sex scenes. The story itself elevated the book and I think that was very genius to use. My only criticism was that I would have wanted a few things explained and some terms defined. However I also loved that the plot was crisp and clear.

Advance truly had some dynamic characters that added an extra edge to the story. Adding multiple POVs added a certain light to the story that was enticing. I got to know Faith, Kye and Fraser a bit better. I felt sorry for Faith because of her predicament. However with her predicament, she never lost her spunk. She was fiery, strong and determined. Just the way I love my heroines. Kye was also fantastic. I found myself swooning hard because he was protective of Faith. He truly cared about Kye and that is admirable for a character for me. Now Fraser was another story. He was unpredictable and I was actually a fool to believe he was a good guy. He shocked me because K.A developed Fraser to another level as a character. These characters had a story to tell because they had thoughts that were so interesting.

Advance was a totally unique story that had me liking Sci-Fi and thank this book for that. I will definitely be reading more books from K.A Duggsy.

Clare's Mad About Books

I dont normally read Dystopian/Sci-Fi/Fantasy romance as this is what genres I think this book would fall under but I was so pleasantly surprised right from the first page that I couldn't stop reading this book.
Faith is a character you really get to feel for and pity for all the heartbreak pain and suffering she has endured at the hands of Advance Industries. She has been used and abused for all of her life and you really want to help her fight for her liberation and freedom. So many lies have been planted into her mind that she doesn't know who she can trust not to hurt her anymore.
Kye is a man on a mission with his force of trained men to help Faith find the truth and protect the woman he loves. His character has a hard exterior but with a loyal and gentle heart which he shows many times during the story.
This story takes you on an exciting ride with plot twists and turns throughout and with such an epic ending that I so much want to read what happens next!
So good that 5 stars doesn't come close to what I would give it if I could.

I was asked by the Author to review, and I was happy to. SciFi Romance, lots of action, time travel, large corporations trying to take over the world. All the while a steamy romance takes place. Between two time travelers, one is taken captive by said corporation and experimented on, but they should have know the love of her life would rest until she was back safe with him, but unfortunately the experiments have tampered with her memory and she doesn't remember her one love... Poor guy has to keep reminding her who he is and why she loves him.

Advance Industries is a dystopian tale set in the middle of the Old World of the past and the new dystopian future. In a very well thought out society, we follow the main character, Faith, as her life is altered again and again by people who want nothing more than to use her for their own nefarious purposes.
The Advance Industries leaders do not see their purpose as evil or bad, and the author really does a great job of showcasing one scientist's delusions, and how he really thinks what he is doing is a good thing. The hints of a psychopath lay underneath, however, and you are left wondering which side of his personality will truly prevail.
There is a love story here, too. Faith and her love from another time, face several trials of the heart. After being used her whole life by the Evil Advance Industries, we cheer her on as she finds her memories and her heart and soul.
A quick, enjoyable read, and now I want to know what happens next!

Advance: (Advance Industries) (Book 1)
by K A Duggsy (Author), selfpubbookcovers/shardel (Illustrator)

Genre: Sci Fi

Set in a future world where science is right on the brink of inventing teleportation, Faith Elaina finds herself caught up in a conspiracy that will change her life—and the future—forever.

Here’s what I liked about this book:
• This is a very unique, very inventive story line. I was caught up right away in the intrigue, mystery and danger of it all. It’s very well written with a fast-paced rhythm. The story never lags and the intrigue continues from page 1 to the very last.

• The characters are relatable and well-drawn. I like Faith immediately and detested Johns and Fraser. You will too!

• The “science” stuff wasn’t above me. Some authors, when writing sci-fi tend to over explain their futuristic “stuff”. I don’t have an engineering degree; nor do I have a doctorate in all things 30th century…yet, most authors assume that I do. THIS author did not. Because of the way she wrote, I understood that this device or that one was meant for transportation, teleportation or communication without feeling as if I needed to be scientist or an engineer. At the same time, I didn’t feel “talked down to” either.

• The love story was sweet. There weren’t a lot of SEX scenes…which was good. They weren’t necessary. Sometimes writers tend to believe that the gratuitous sex is what makes their book great. Sometimes, that’s true. But, they weren’t needed here and I appreciated that.

• The other thing I found very exciting was that while the story is set in the future…our future…elements of the even-further-future came into play as well. Time travel, not yet invented in the beginning of the story happens when travelers from the character’s future show up! It’s really a fun twist.

Here’s what I didn’t like:

• While the love story was indeed sweet, and it wasn’t cram-packed with gratuitous sex, it was packed with lots and lots of “mushy stuff” as my grand-daughter calls it. Kye (a time-traveler from the future) a big Marine-type guy, muscle-bound and soldier-y, the leader of a squad of futuristic warriors, was constantly talking to others and himself about how much he loves Faith. Don’t get me wrong, women like to be told they’re loved and we like to read about great love stories. However, these “mushy” moments appeared in some of the most awkward places—right in the middle of a rescue; while punches were being thrown and lives were in danger—Kye would stop the action to think about how much he loves her and how he can’t live without her and how wonderful she is. Sweet…but… just awkward sometimes.

Other than that… I had no other complaints. The book is well written; the characters were complex. The story line was believable and relatable. It’s a great read!

I would recommend it to anyone.

I am fan of this author work but under her other pen name so I was excited to see what this would be like and it didn't disappoint. It has been a while since I have read a bit of a fantasy read and I really found it to be a refreshing read.

The story mainly focuses around faith, who is a little lost following some heartbreak and pain. Faith has been through so much but is still a strong character which is what I love in a main female read. Kye is your typical alpha male lead and I loved him. I even liked the bad guy as you learn to have a love to hate relationship with him.

I was quickly hooked in the story early on, it a story based on time table. It had a good pace and lots of twists and turns and throughout. The author certainly kept me guessing what was going to happen next. There was most defiantly a few shocks and OMG moments reading this. I really thought the author did a great job in bringing the story to life, I love reading this type of book and trying to imagine what the film would be like. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I don't even know where to start with this Advance review. Let's start with I FRIGGING LOVED this book.(please don't leave me to long for the next one) From the start it had me drawn in. it has drama, emotion and twists. I don't want to give to much away. It's an awesome read (time travel/romance) Advance Industries is a little more than people expected.
Faith has had a very different start in life. with me her character had a rollercoaster ride of emotions she thought she knew where she stood but..was it all lies and plots? Kye is from somewhere no one expects and Faith only remembers his eyes until she digs deep in her heart. Fraser well he was only out for one thing his job/career but has this all changed now???

Thank-you K A Duggsy for your talent writing skills I'm looking forward to more...x I wish I could give you more than a 5star rating

This is an interesting novel. I enjoyed reading it. The story is very intriguing. It pulled me in and I couldn't put it down until I finished reading. It was a quick read for me.
Faith never knew what will happen when she decided to help Fraser. But now she is in too deep. She must find out the truth. So now she is on the run, trying to save herself and stop "Advance" from destroying more people's life.
Kye would do anything for Faith. Travelling through time is nothing as compared to how much he was willing to give up. Now all he needs to do is find her, and make her remember him. And everything he stands for.
It's a thrilling story. I think every sci-fi fan will love it.
P.S. I'd like to thank the author for complimentary copy of this book.

The Matrix meets The Terminator meets The Tomorrow People. Epic Dystopian-Romance must-read!

Thanks to the Quirky Blind Date with a Book readers’ group, I read and enjoyed this book from new-to-me author, KA Duggsy and I have to say it was AWESOME! The action is full on, and, the plot twists and surprises just don’t stop. People are dropping like flies, but that’s okay, Phasers are the go and they’re only (tasered!)

Society is divided into two economic levels, the extremes of rich and poor, and Faith, as a reporter is summoned among many, to a Press Conference convened by Advance Industries to showcase their new invention that will change the way people travel – teleportation. Like a bus, they say, but getting you from A to B instantly. No risk, no fuss, and soon one in the homes of the privileged. But, first, they need people who want to be the pioneers of their time, for the final testing of the transportation tubes before being widely available to the public. Lauded as human trails for the brave who want a place in history!

Then, she is approached by a homeless man with intelligent eyes, and he’s one of the leading scientists, gone undercover to expose Advance Industries and its’ CEO, as behind the disappearance of the homeless poor, being forced to trail the transportation tubes, that are being used outside of their design purposes.

Beginning the investigation on behalf of the missing homeless, Faith inadvertently ends up back in the hands of a man with stunning Hazel eyes who she doesn’t know, but feels strangely comfortable with. He begs her to remember him, remember them, and Faith begins to realise, that time, and memories can be played around with.

Wow, I have no words to describe how all encompassing this world is, this world that has been created by Kelly A Duggsy. The woman is a genius with words and I am totally entrenched in the world that she created.

The most ironic part of this book, is that I could actually envisage our society and its behaviours, heading in this direction.

I went straight to Amazon and one-clicked the end to Faith and Kye’s story : Advancing. 5 Stars.

With a unique concept and interesting characters, Advance will quickly pull you in and keep you entertained to the end. From the moment I started reading, I figured I would be in for a treat. Fast-paced and with many surprises I eagerly turned the pages as I could not wait to discover how the story would unfold.

I was intrigued by the concept of bodies being created in a lab coupled with the theory of time travel and teleportation. The themes may not be unique but the way it was portrayed was new. K.A. descriptive writing style made everything come to life, and I felt I was in the middle of the events taking place. The world in Advance is broken down into two socio-economic levels. There is the rich who are swimming in luxury and then there are those who are barely surviving and as a result end up being homeless. Advance Industries has invented a new device which would revolutionize the manner in which citizens travel. However, there is one drawback subjects are required for final testing and who better to conduct these tests on but the homeless. After all, who would miss them if anything should go wrong?

The story develops through the eyes of Faith, Kye and Fraser. Faith is a prime example of a strong heroine. I admired her strength, determination and selflessness. She is a well-rounded heroine, which was demonstrated in her strengths and flaws. Her impulsive behaviour and stubbornness placed her in tenuous situations and in the process placed others at risk. Despite me not agreeing with her putting others at risk, I understood the reasons behind her actions.

Kye shared some of the same traits as Faith in that he is determined and impulsive. His impulsiveness. However, made him reckless. He did things without having a plan in place, which I thought strange for someone who is the leader of a group responsible for maintaining law and order. Given what he and Faith had been through, I expected him to be cautious in his actions. I understood his need to be protective of Faith, but I found his behaviour cloying and bordering on abusive. His constant reference of her belonging to him demonstrated his possessive nature. Besides him being possessive, he was insanely jealous.

Fraser is an interesting character. At first, I was not sure what to make of him, but as the story progressed, his intentions became clear and Faith will discover life is not as simple as it seems. Who can she trust to tell her the truth?

Although I enjoyed the story, I had a few issues. This is the first book in the series. However, I felt I was thrust into the middle of the story. I say this as based on the narration it is clear the main characters story started before this installment. It would have been great to have the story of how they met, and the events, which transpired during this time.

I wish I could go in to all the issues I had, but doing so will reveal too much of the story. All I can say is some of the reveals were shocking, but could have done with a little more development. The ending was the least favourite part of the story as it ended in a cliffie. Darn! I hate those cliffhangers.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Advance is a story filled with drama, suspense, romance and intrigue. I believe this is a great start to the series and I am looking forward to see what is next in store for these characters.

4.5 star read with an intriguing plot and captivating romance....

Wow I loved this book and the gritty dystopian world imagined within..... Faith embarks on a crusade to expose the clandestine activities of Advance Industries and to fight for those who have been disenfranchised...but nothing is as straightforward as it seems leading to a fast paced, thrilling storyline...

The characters were wonderfully detailed and genuine..Faith is a strong resilient young woman and Kye is swoon worthy with his protective and supportive attitude towards Faith...even the bad guys have a worthy place in the cast and all together provide the light and dark which makes this book so compelling...

An addictive 4.5 star read with an intriguing plot and a captivating romance....I received a copy of this book from the author via the Quirky Blind Date with a Book group....

This was an interesting read. A dystopian world, evil doers, time travel and true love. All of the elements to keep my attention throughout. There are so many plots and twists in this story. You think you know what is going on and then it changes on you. The story centers around a woman named Faith. She is the special one that everyone wants, the problem is, she doesn't know why. One wants to study her, the other wants her adoration and finally the one that has her love. There are a lot of unanswered questions that remain at the end, and it basically ends in a cliffie. I am intrigued to read on in the series.

At first this book was a little confusing for me. But loving a good sci fi I decided to push through and I am so glad I did. This time travel book had all the important stuff and a little extra. Loads of mistakes are made that could cost lives. The characters are an emotional pull throughout the story and you find yourself investing in their success and more. Great stuff need to read more because now I am hooked and nothing is what it seems or who they seem. Without knowing who to trust Faith is in deep trouble .

I received this book in exchange for an honest review and I'm more than happy that I stumbled upon it. It's a little outside the norm of what I'd usually read but I was pleasantly surprised. Advance

This book follows Faith and Kye. Faith is living her life as she knows it until she meets a homeless man and her life is turned upside down. It's further turned around when she meets Kye. Kye is doing everything he can to save Faith and she doesn't even remember him. This book is outside what I would normally read, but it's a good read.

This book was actually a lot better than I originally thought it was going to be! I am definitely going to read the next one!

When I first started this book, I was a little wary. It seemed like start like most stories about the future do. Advanced Technology, one man who holds all the power, blah blah. But once I got into it, I have to say that this book took me completely by surprise.

There have only been a few books who have made me actually HATE a character. This was definitely one of them, and it's actually not the character you may think! The story is insanely well written and captivating once it got going. There were so many twists and turns that I just had to know what was coming next. And, of course, I am left with a freaking cliff hanger that's going to drive me insane until I know what the heck happens next.

The story was amazing, and very well written. However, I did give it 4 stars because there were quite a few editing problems that I noticed. In some places when a character was thinking something to themselves, it took you a while to figure out that, that's what was actually going on. Normally, thoughts are in like italic or parenthesis or something, something that can distinguish them from the narrative. This made it a little hard to read at some points. Some punctuation errors, and in one spot, IDK if it was just me, but I was pretty sure there was a complete word wrong. Like they meant to say something else but a different word came out? Or maybe I just didn't completely understand the meaning, that is a possibility too.

All in all though, a very good story and I can't wait for the second book to come out!
