This is an okay read, but it just doesn’t quite get over the line for me. Cavvak is an Alpha male, an although the author tries hard to portray that, I just feel something lacking. It’s like the story is galloping along to reach the finish line, but forgoing any real depth in the scenes.

Better than average scifi spanking story. The setting is well built and enough to work for the book (without being overwhelming) and the characters are pretty intriguing. Nothing too harsh here at all - but nor is it full of a guy who's all sweetness except for the spanking. This has some practicality in it - and I enjoyed the interactions as well as the scenes.

It often embarrasses just how much I like to read erotic, capture fantasy sci-fi romance, and this was a fun little bit of fluff with all of the above and spanking too. The book was well written, but it was very short, and very predictable.
Lia is from a sexually repressed society of humans who left Earth several generations ago and have been wandering through space looking for a habitable planet. Cavvik is from a technologically advanced society where men expect women to obey or be punished - sound familiar? In fact it was so familiar I'm beginning to suspect this author (along with several others) followed an erotic, capture fantasy sci-fi with spanking checklist.
These books are great for when you want a quick read that involves very little mental effort, but don't expect (or even want) a literary masterpiece. The time line was incredibly short, even for books of this sort. Lia went from a terrified captive who believed her captors to be violent, heartless barbarians to willing submissive in one day. Her reactions didn't ring true for me. I would have liked to know more about the world ship and the fate of the remaining humans, but that was also glossed over - at least in this book.
Despite all that, I did enjoy the story even while mentally rolling my eyes at the absurdities.

3.5 stars. This was my first book by this author. I liked it, wasn’t a huge fan of the admiral. He lacked a lot of the finesse I normally like in my alphas. He went from punishing her with a spanking, which was fine for me, to the next time using a strap....not nearly as fine for me. Punishing her because she had an opinion...nope. After he took her from her ship, knowing she was scared and raised completely different than himself. So, I did like the book well enough, it was safe and we get a little glimpse of their future, but they will only get along if she minds him, which means she does exactly what he says at all times. He just needs a bit more finesse, but I will definitely read more books by this author.

I tried to like this one, I really did. But when the zero has another man stimulate the heroine’s private bits to completion, I was “f()ckkk!!! This sh/t!”
I have absolutely no patience whatsoever for a zero who will be ok watching a stranger touch his woman, bring his woman pleasure and see her at her most intimate. A zero who has no sense of his woman belonging to him and keeping her safe from others. That’s not romance, that’s degraded and putrid. No thanks!

There's a reason I barely touch spanking stories because the plots are always so inconsequential, the entire story is one step from being a joke. But, this is smut if you like it, then you'll enjoy it. As much as I love reading about sex, I prefer my stories with something more than just sex.

I received this novella for free in return for an honest review. I'm a librarian and although this is not my usual type of reading I like to read a variety of genres. I am a big fan of science fiction so erotica set in space appealed to me.
I read Fifty Shades of Grey when it reached its height of popularity, and Taken by the Admiral is 100 times better than it. Although it is all an excuse for a spanking story, the author has put time and effort into characters and plot.
The sexualization of the exam by the doctor bothered me, but otherwise I recommend this to people looking for creative spanking stories.

Writing was fine though i felt that the story line could be explained in a wider view and elaborated more . The book mainly consist of 90% smut and 10% story . I can get immersed with both the main leads but i wished there was more action,drama to this book .

Free download. Book had promise, however ended up being smut. Too much time spent writing smut and not enought time spent on the storyline which made the characters boring and a real lack of connection with the characters.
I loved the strength of the hero. His take charge personality.

A fantastic sci-fi and wonderfully written! I read it in one sitting because I was intrigued by the plot and the characters and had to just keep reading. That's always a good sign to me and it's something I have come to expect from this author. Loved it! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

So while I was there looking at the freebie - see His by Law - I was drawn to this Sci-fi romance. Yes there was the bare bottom spanking, but there was also the space-ship and distant planet kidnapping the poor damsel. Definitely an adult, but this adult enjoyed it.

Good short story
I enjoyed this book, although it was rather short. It had a sci-first bent to it but the romance could be enjoyed by anyone even if you did not like sci_fi.

I am not huge on the sci-fi books and ones that contain "aliens". This was a very cute story and if you like the sci-fi read you will more than likely enjoy it!

I would give this five stars if there was a little more to the actual story than just the sex.
Lia was born in a lab aboard a ship that left Earth a long time ago and the occupants have been searching for a planet to inhabit that resembles their home world. The ship is on its last legs, but still the current captain refuses to accept the help of the Varishans who have offered them a pollutionless fuel source and assistance in finding a suitable planet. The horror stories of this alien race abound and their frequent taking of human women has generated fear in all females inboard the ship.
Admiral Cavvik has been forced to once again claim reparation on the Earthship by taking a human female. The ship was in Varishan space, polluting the atmosphere of nearby colonies. This in spite of the fact the the captain possessed maps of this region of space. Cavvik now must decide which of his protectors to give the woman to. He is very surprised when he finds he desires the woman for himself. He had thought to not have a mate until he returned to his home world.
There is a lot of sex, with mild BDSM, between Cavvik and Lea. She, of course, must be taught who is boss and does, of course, find she likes it.
