I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

I was really intrigued by Bas’s character by the end of the last book and left with several questions about him and Myst so I pretty excited to find out more about them in this book and it didn’t disappoint.

Bas is an sentinel outlaw who had done quite well for himself by using dubious methods. He kidnaps Serra (the heroine of Blood Assassin) in the last book because his daughter, Molly had been kidnapped by his enemies. Bas would do anything for his daughter whom he loves very much. At the end of the last book we find out that Molly can talk to her mother. Bas of course believes that his daughter just misses her mother and isn’t actually talking to her.

Myst is Molly’s mother and has been on the run it seems her entire life. She has been seeing visions of destruction of the sentinels ever since she was a child. Her parents sold her to the brotherhood, the enemies of the sentinels when they found out she was a sentinel highborn with a weapon that could destroy the sentinels. She had a very difficult childhood and eventually escapes from the brotherhood and has been on the run ever since. Myst has been telepathically talking to her daughter for quite some time now and when she finds out that Molly was kidnapped and returned she decides to just meet her daughter once.

Bas is highly suspicious of Myst and angry at her for leaving their daughter and now returning just to leave again. He doesn’t want Molly to get hurt and himself because as much as he’d like to deny it he is still attracted to Myst and the chemistry/connection they had when they first met is still there. Myst on the other hand however much would like to stay with her daughter and Bas can’t because the brotherhood is still searching for and she doesn’t want them to get hurt.

Myst and Bas were great together and when they finally decided to trust each other they had some good relationship development. Though their chemistry was palpable from the start. The book had some battles and twists especially with the leader of brotherhood and what followed made it a interesting read that kept my attention throughout.

Quibbles: The weapon bit was a bit predicable and I felt like everyone knew what it was going to be when the keeper talked about it but alas it took them almost at the end of the book to figure out. And maybe we should have gotten some flashbacks or something of Myst and Bas when they first met because they were kind of already in love at the start of this book.

Apart from that it was a great addition to the series, made for a good fantasy read with well paced plot, action and some intrigues and now I reallllly want Wolfe and Lana’s story.

Giddy squealing, Bas is getting his day. You heard me right, we are getting the story behind the mysterious criminal and assassin, Bas and his lovely daughter Molly.

Bas’s daughter was kidnapped making Bas call on resources that could land him in jail. Escaping their clutches, he finds himself back in need of their help when his daughter’s mother suddenly reappears.

Myst has been on the run from the brotherhood. A vision showed her creating a weapon of great destruction that could destroy the high-bloods. She is doing everything she can to stay out of malicious hands. She even gave up her daughter to keep her safe.

After the kidnapping Myst must see for herself that Molly is ok.

Bas let Myst slip through his fingers once, he isn’t about to let it happen again. When he discovers Myst’s secret he will do whatever it takes to remove the threat from her and their lives.

While you are completely engrossed in the main story, Ivy has a way of weaving in side-characters' storylines that make you want to grasp onto their plots as well…Way to reel us in hook, line, and sinker.

I have to say that I loved Bas. He is a smoldering anti-hero type character that can’t seem to help himself from letting his good guy show through.

Once again, Alexandra Ivy pulls out that golden pen to give us another fabulous, boldly written, action packed, steamin’ hot romance.

After having read Blood Assassin by Alexandra Ivy I was intrigued to know more about the character the Sentinel assassin known as Bas and how he came to be a father and where his daughter’s mother was. I was so happy when I found out that Blood Lust would answer these questions.

Blood Lust is a wonderful addition to the Sentinels series. I liked how well the story flowed and how well I was able to connect to the characters especially Myst. This is a wonderful paranormal romance with enough mystery in it that keeps the story moving along at a good pace.

I do believe that for your ultimate enjoyment that The Sentinels series should be read in the order that they are published in. Each of these books has built off the previous ones just enough that you will miss out on aspects the characters as well as the other story lines that seem to thread it self through each book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the journey with Bas and Myst and I hope to see them pop up in future installments of the entertaining series.

I don't know why but it took me a while to warm up to the Sentinel stories but I'm so pleased I persevered . We were introduced to Bas in the previous book Blood Assasin when he cunningly used the High Bloods to help him rescue his abducted daughter Molly from a murderous former employee. So how did someone like Bas , assasin and unrepentant outcast become such a loving father? Well five years ago a beautiful woman asked him for a job but instead of work Bas gave Myst a night both would never forget. Myst left with no word of how he could find her only to leave a baby nine months later in the inner sanctum that Bas had thought impregnable . Molly is the apple of Bas's eye but Myst is the woman he can't forget and she's about to come crashing back into his life !
I found Bas to be an intruiging mixture of good and bad in the previous story so I'm over the moon that the author not only revisited him but made his story such a sweet one . I know you might think that Bas is anything but sweet after all he doesn't play by the rules but his love for Molly is rock solid and undeniable. Molly is adorable, a scene stealer if there ever was one ! Then of course there's the elusive and secretive Myst. She claimed to be a clairvoyant when he first met her but the reality is Myst is a foreseer who had a vision so terrifying she has been on the run but reality is about to catch up with her although to say more would ruin this book for other readers .
I do like the way the author keeps dangling other characters in front of her readers. It's so obvious that the Mave, Lana and her Tagos, Wolfe are going to combust at some point and I for one can't wait. Now that being said there's a rather cheeky Kaede who is also waiting in the wings so clearly that's at least two more books in this series but I'm sure there are many more Sentinels out there with tales of their own.
This book delivered a well thought out story that's perhaps not as action fuelled as some but the heart warming emotional journey was fabulous. There's truly nasty villains, a romance that pulled me in ( Bas made me melt !) and such a unique twist as the truth about Myst's vision was revealed . If honest it felt quite short and I seemed to reach the end quite quickly but it's my favourite book in this series so far and yes Ms Ivy proves yet again that she truly excels when it comes to paranormal romance.

The encounter with the sinfully good Bas in the previous book had me excited that this was to be his own book. Bas is a lethal High Blood Assassin, but he has an Achilles' Heel, his daughter. Now he might have just found a second weakness when Molly's mother rushes back into his life bringing portents and prophesies of danger.

The Sentinels has proven to be an exciting, action-packed series with a unique paranormal twist on the immortals. Each book has a separate romance and situation and yet there is a clear series arc and a few ongoing stories in the background so I don't recommend getting them out of order.

In this story, Bas has just retrieved Molly from her kidnappers and did his reluctant part to help the High Bloods of Valhalla stop a powerful evil, but now he wants to avoid the hero-types and get his life of a mercenary back on track. Unfortunately, that is not to be when Molly's mother, Myst, returns to his life. They had one night together and then she ran only to return and leave the baby Molly with him. Now she wants time with their daughter. Bas isn't in the mood, but then he senses something might be behind Myst's behavior and he will have the secrets of this frustrating female who he never could forget.

Myst left behind her child to protect her and she left her with a man that even that short acquaintance has ruined her for other men. She knows what Bas thinks of her, but she had her reasons. She has been on the run and she wouldn't allow Molly to be with her if she were recaptured. And then there is the foretelling she did that named herself as the one to unleash a weapon that would destroy her kind, the High Bloods.
She only planned to get in, make sure her child was safe, and get out, but Bas has other plans and he's not allowing her to keep her secrets this time. Worse, he insists on helping her get all the answers so they can prevent the disaster she saw in her vision.

Alright, this one was a fast, easy read with an action-based plot. The players and situation are introduced and things race into motion from there. This is Bas and Myst's story, but it is also a continuation of Lana, the Valhalla Mave leader and her lethal Tagos protector along with the situation in the Human First camp. I enjoy the inclusion of these other storylines. Everyone is rushing to figure out the secret about the 'weapon' of Myst's foretelling and its like a treasure hunt with two teams of hunters.

As usual with the author's stories, there is a blend of passion and action. The Sentinels concept like X-Men humans who are feared and hated by many non-gifted humans is a good one. I always enjoy what gifts will be the highlight of each new installment. The romantic pair are a rogue assassin with a magic gift and a foreteller with telepathy. I loved seeing Bas and Myst go from wary and suspicious to a pair who need each other and partner for what matters. Bas likes to pretend that he is all bad boy, but he really has a heart of gold even if he feels rules are optional. Myst has never know a home or acceptance so she is used to running and doing for herself. Loved watching her learn that there are good people who will help her.

The action wound down to an exciting end with some fun surprise twists and danger moments along the way. Always fun to see how the author will extricate her good guys from a tight spot. It was a rush to the finish and now I am left eager for the next installment.

I would recommend these for those who enjoy action-driven, heated, fast, and easy paranormal romance.

My thanks to Kensington Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I always look forward to Ms. Ivy's books because she is a master at weaving details, hidden clues, mystery and smoking hot romance into a plot line that reels a reader in completely and there's always something new and interesting in each of them. BLOOD LUST certainly has all that - great storytelling, hot romance and lots of heart.

Sentinel assassin, Bas has been declared a wanted man by Valhalla but he's going to need the help of the powers that be to take on their common enemy, the Brotherhood and ensure the safety of his daughter and her mother, the woman who has consumed him for the last five years.

Myst only hoped to get job when she came to Bas but she got more than she planned for and to save her daughter's life, she brought her to her father and disappeared. Haunted all her life by the Brotherhood to be used as a tool for world dominion, Myst has been searching for a way out and with no solution in sight, she has decided on a very permanent solution, but first she has to say her goodbyes to her loved ones. But Bas is not letting her go without a fight, even if it means a temporary alliance with his enemies.

I certainly wasn't a fan of Bas from the previous book but he won me over finally and made me see him as more than just a soulless mercenary. He still doesn't play by the rules, is still out for number one, but his devotion to his daughter is undeniable. His feelings for Myst have made her his second weakness but he'll fight to the death to protect both of them. What Myst lacks physically she makes up for with her inner strength and determination and even Bas has his work cut out for him trying to keep her in line.

BLOOD LUST certainly is not as action-packed as the previous installments in the series but it more than makes up for that with the heartwarming feelings induced by the interactions between Bas, Myst and the enchanting Molly. I loved untangling the threads of the mystery and have to give Ms. Ivy kudos for making that a unique and unexpected twist to the whole story. In addition, we are teased endlessly with the air-sucking chemistry between the Mave and her Tagos and I can't wait for their story.

As usual, while each book stands alone I'll recommend reading the series in order so as to keep track of the ongoing story arc. With all the deliciousness the series has to offer, why not?

'Blood Lust' by Alexandra Ivy is book three in the "The Sentinels" series. This is the story of Bas and Myst.
Bas met Myst and was quickly attracted to her and her to him. So much so they created a child on their first meeting pretty much. Myst disappeared but came back to bring a baby she had from their encounter. Bas thought after leaving the baby..Myst was just a selfish women. But a few years later she turns up to visit her daughter. Bas finds out then that she has been communicating with their daughter and is upset about it. But Bas finds that Myst didn't want to leave her child...that she didn't have a choice. A group of people are hunting her down and Myst has to stay on the run to keep them from finding her.
This was a really hot, sexy, alpha male, drama type romance....loved it.

3.5 stars.

This is my first Ms. Ivy's book.
I wanted to read it because the description, the heroine left the baby with the daddy, usually mummy who take care the kid. So I think is going to be interesting, unfortunately I almost gave up around 63%.

Our heroine left the baby because she hiding from an organised group who hunting her, and she managed to avoid them for five years but when I read her POV nothing smart about her, mostly just about how her lusting the hero all the time, meh!
And the hero? He supposed to be a scary assassin and the best in his job but he went down by 'mere' human twice! Twice!!! Just not good okay?

But the last 25% the story picking up nicely and their daughter is the star from this book, she so adorable and she behave and speaks just like 4yo, thanks god!!

Huge fan! I loved reading this book so much. The characters are described in such detail I could cast them in for movie if I saw someone matching the descriptions walking down the street. It certainly makes me want to spend more time with them.

Molly is Myst and Bas' daughter and after dropping the child off with Bas 5 years ago Myst turned and left. She hasn't come back until now and it has made Bas crazy trying to find her. After every available minute and tons of money his people cannot find her but she suddenly decides to show up only a week after a kidnapped Molly has returned home, and get passed his security. Bas is not happy and more importantly he is furious to find out that she has been telepathically speaking with Molly as well.

Myst is determined not to let Bas intimidate her from seeing Molly, especially since she has so little time left with her. She has spent everyday running since she was 15 but Bas doesn't know that and she has to get out of here before he finds out.

Bas is an assassin high-blood and he has enemies. Lots of enemies that got his daughter kidnapped. After an almost debilitating week of her being gone he isn't sharing Molly with anyone, especially not the woman who gave birth to her just to abandon her.

When it becomes clear that this isn't going as he expects it to go and the danger isn't over he will do anything to keep her safe including trusting the people who want him in their dungeons. After all, the Mave (his old friend and leader of his people, Lana) is the only one he trusts to take care of her.

This book is an extremely action packed journey that will work your brain, in a good way, to keep you connected at all times. Just when you figure one thing out it will turn out to be something different and exciting and suspenseful and scary. You will smile at Molly, laugh at the over abundance of alpha males and think "she's badass" about the women. It will also creep you out in ways too. You will be on emotional overload and love every minute of the journey.

ARC REVIEW

Book three to Alexandra Ivy's Sentinel series Blood Lust follows Bas and his adorable daughter Molly (whom we meet in the last book). Waiting a year for each book is worth the wait, this is one of those series I keep on eye out for, I stalk Netgalley and Facebook for any information the newest book. Bas was just dark and mysterious enough in Blood Assassin to make my anticipation for this book pretty intense. It was worth it.

Bas was raised an assassin, trained not like the others but more lethal than his sentinel counterparts. Bas had a difference of opinion with The Mage, Lana, a former friend and lover and was cast out of the high blood society. Bas is willing to go to any lengths to get what he wants and he succeeds in business but five years ago he met an irresistible young woman had one glorious night with her; he was willing to give her everything only to find her missing the next morning. Nine months later there is a baby girl on his doorstep. Bas assumed the worst about Myst and never expects to see her again.

Unbeknownst to Bas during Molly's kidnapping she was so scared she reached out to her mother and found her since then they have been in telepathic contact. Myst knowing her daughter needs her returns but trouble follows Myst where ever she goes that is why she stayed gone for so long. Myst finally confides the truth to Bas of why she disappeared and why she left Molly behind. Bas does the only thing he can to keep Myst and Molly safe he calls in Lana and the Sentinels for help.

Overall, this was a great read. I love Bas and Myst together they compliment each other well and Molly is such an adorable.

I got to say I wasn’t all that excited about this book, Bas wasn’t all that easy to really like in the last book. One thing I could say was that he is a fantastic father; he truly loves his little girl. She’s his whole world. When her mother saunters back into the picture he’s not thrilled; he doesn’t want anything else that could potentially harm his little girl. Myst hasn’t physically been with her little girl since she dropped her off with Bas, but she has always “talked” to her through a telepathic link. Being away from Molly has been the hardest thing she’s had to do but fate has other plans. Myst needs to stop a vision from coming to pass, a vision that could kill everyone in Valhalla.

We are taking on a whirlwind trip across countries racing against time and whomever wants to get their hands on Myst. Bas really redeems himself to me in this book, he ends up being compassionate well as compassionate as a man of his nature could be. He also puts his heart back on the line where Myst is concerned. Myst wasn’t counting on Bas and her feelings for him. She ran from im years ago but he was never far from her heart and now he wants a real chance, but she has fate hanging over her head.

I really ended up enjoying this book, much more than I thought I would. It was action packed and emotionally charged. I can’t say that I’ve ever disliked an A. Ivy novel and I’m quite glad this was no exception. Fans of A Ivy and paranormal in general I think will really enjoy this series.

What can I say about Blood Lust? This book is sexy. It is action packed. It will keep you guessing and dying to know what will happen next!!

Now, if you know me, then you know that I am always and I mean always on the look out for an exciting paranormal romance. This is my first book by this author and after reading Blood Lust, I can not wait to read more!!

Blood Lust pulls you in from the very first page. This story is well written and entertaining. From the moment you are introduced to Bas and Myst, you are dying to know more. These two share a history. One that can not be forgotten and the pain from their mistakes, unforgiven. However, things are not always what they seem. Myst has her reasons for doing what she did. A vision that she has, has the power to change the course of her life forever…..

Blood Lust gave me everything I was looking for in a great paranormal read. I loved the characters and found myself really intrigued by them. I loved the chemistry between Bas and Myst. Yes, Myst made some mistakes and kept secrets, but she had her reasons for doing it and her feelings for Bas never faded. I just couldn’t wait to see what would happen between these two; if they would be able to find their way back to one another.

Overall, I really enjoyed Blood Lust. It was a quick and easy read for me. It hit all my marks and had me begging for more. As I previously stated, this was my first book by this author and after reading this, I can not wait to read more of her books in the future.

This series just keeps getting better but at the same time while this one was a decent romance and mystery the "big thing" became apparent by the 50% mark but the plot carried along like nobody else could figure it out so that is why the 4 Star instead of 5.

Bas and Myst were a very good couple but at the same time a bit too much "insta-love" feel to it took a little bit off the edge but make no mistake, they actually are crazy about each other. You got to love Bas while being probably one of the most feared men on the planet is not portrayed like Superman. Myst on the other hand could have used just a bit more 'something" to make her less of a damsel in distress. They both did mesh together pretty well in several high stress situations but at the same time I am not a big fan of feral alpha males that can barely think straight without some threat of violence for just breathing in the same room as they are in.

Bottom Line: I really did enjoy myself, it was a flight of fantasy where things tended to work out very nicely, the ending to the "threat" was unique and original. The idea that nobody could figure out what the "weapon" was kind of insulted my intelligence. 4 Stars and in spite of the minor shortcomings I would recommend this series.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: A dangerous prophecy and assassin with his family in danger.

Opening Sentence: It has been over a century since the high-bloods revealed themselves to the norms.

The Review:

Bas is still reeling from the kidnapping of his daughter Molly. Her mother, Myst, dropped her off right after her birth and disappeared. But now that Molly is home safe she tells Bas that Mommy is coming for a visit. Bas is beyond shocked when Myst strolls right into his office. He not as shocked to find that he reacts to her exactly the same way as when he first met her. This time he is determined to hate, but keeps it in check because Molly is so excited.

After a few a days Bas finally gets Myst to reveal her story, not all of it, but why she dropped Molly off and why she is on the run. The Brotherhood is hunting her because she had a prophecy that she would create a dangerous weapon that would kill high-bloods. Bas contacts the Meave to make arrangements for Molly’s safety and to meet with Boggs in order to find out more about Myst’s prophecy.

The meeting goes very wrong and Bas is knocked unconscious and Myst is taken by the Brotherhood. Soon Bas is racing against time to not only stop The Brotherhood, but rescue Myst as well. Will he be able to keep Myst and Molly safe? Will he finally have the love he has been waiting for?

I give kudos to this series because I haven’t read the first two books and I was able to read this one and not feel confused at all. I am sure some of the characters, events, and story tie in with the first two, so I do recommend you start at the beginning. I loved Myst, I don’t know that I would have been strong enough to make the choices she did, but I always enjoy seeing a character that loves their child and is willing to make sacrifices for them.

Bas is total bad boy, but his love for Myst and Molly was just so nice to see. I couldn’t stop reading the story. It was fast paced and action packed. I don’t see another book listed, but that can always change. For now there are two more before this as well as two novellas.

Blood Lust by Alexandra Ivy is the 3rd novel in the Sentinel series. This book takes place shortly after the previous book, Blood Assassin, ended and features Bas, the father who, we discovered in Blood Assassin, would stop at nothing to get his daughter Molly back, and Molly’s mysterious and allusive mother Myst. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a book with Bas as the hero. I didn’t agree with all of his methods in the previous book but I understood his reasoning. I have to say that while I didn’t really like him in Blood Assassin, I quite liked him in this book. He was no longer the semi bad guy but a fully flushed character with substance and emotions. I also really liked Myst and found her story to be both interesting and heartbreaking.

Blood Lust is a great addition to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is entertaining, fast paced, sexy and moving. Bas and Myst suited each other perfectly and I loved seeing them become the couple they were always meant to be. Blood Lust is about Myst’s search for a weapon, one that could be used against the high bloods. Hampering her search is the Brotherhood’s relentless pursuit of her. But Bas isn’t about to let Myst out of his sight again and joins her as they work together to find the weapon and elude the Brotherhood. My only disappointment in Blood Lust was that the mystery seemed rather obvious. But it didn’t detract from the overall story and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I would recommend Blood Lust to fans of the Sentinel series.

3.5 Stars. The first part of the book sounded like it was going to be a standard PNR 'immortal romance of the week', but soon segued into a decent adventure. Some of the events leading up to the ending were a little too convenient to be plausible.

Overall a pretty good read. I'm liking this series; but it's never going to be a top level favorite for me.

Blood Lust by Alexandra Ivy is the perfect mix of action, romance and drama!

Bas and Myst have two of the coolest names I've ever seen in a book, let me say that outright. And now, onto the review!

I've been hoarding Alexandra Ivy books on my shelves for years now, so I was thrilled to finally pick up one of the books hanging around on my shelves. This book was a lovely book to start off with, even if it was third in the series. I had no problem jumping into this story and I fell in love with these mysteriously epic characters! In this book, Myst and Bas have a young girl named Molly (she has such a normal name for her parents having cool ones, just saying...) and she brings them back together. Bas, the assassin, and Myst, the woman who's seen a very important vision, are such a strangely well paired couple. They are hot and bothered and ready to fight.

I loved that this book wasn't purely romance - I've gotten tired of the "this is a fantasy book" but it really is all romance trope that I've been seeing lately. Having this book full of intense drama and action with the romance coming in closer to the end felt REALLY nice. These two characters are definitely made for the romance sphere, but they also have such incredible back stories that it would have been a waste to not explore them. So, kudos to Alexandra Ivy for making this book so different.

My notes on the book are as followed:
1. You can see the ending coming from a mile away, but that's probably just me reading too much and watching too many movies.
2. This book is easy to jump into as a stand alone, but I might have understood a little bit more of the world building if I had read the first two books in the series.
3. The fantasy in this book is REALLY COOL. You can tell a world is being built around this series, so I really hope there's more books to come.
4. I love the relationship between Bas and Myst. They are sassy, sarcastic and yet romantic at all the right times.
5. The story felt "real" - you can believe that Bas and Myst would go save their daughter. All of the plot points didn't feel forced and worked really well within the story as a whole.
6. If I had to pick one negative for me, it would be that the book felt just a little too long. Some scenes could have been cut out and the story would have made just as much sense.

Overall, I really liked this book! It was a great mix of fantasy, action and romance and I'd highly recommend it to someone looking to fill the void in those genres. I wouldn't recommend purely binging it. I liked it much more when I was able to set it down and jump back into the world.

Four out of five stars.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Okay, so if you’ve been keeping up with The Sentinals series then you know that Bas is a high blood who doesn’t follow the rules; he makes them. His onetime hookup with a woman known as Myst resulted in a daughter named Molly that Bas had to raise alone after Myst dropped her on his doorstep as an infant. Now Myst has returned to spend time with their daughter and hopefully avoid the vision she’s been haunted by, a vision that says she will create a weapon that will destroy the world.

Okay, so Bas was the leader of a shadow society of high bloods who don’t want to follow the rules that were created to keep them and the humans safe. That has disaster written all over it right? Well yeah, almost from the start Blood Lust dropped me into total chaos with Bas and Myst reuniting and reluctantly calling a truce to their hostilities in order to deal with a bigger problem and in the process they get their hands all over each other again, cause you know, one time wasn’t enough for these two.

I loved the tension between these two so much because it was so well done. There was tons of unfinished business between them, yet they had to prioritize their needs against their daughter’s. Bas wasn’t used to having someone like Myst stand up to him because, hello High Blood Assassin, but it was entertaining to watch them clash. Bas needed to be put in his place because as sexy as this guy was, he was arrogant and dismissive of anyone that wasn’t him or his daughter. Of course part of Bas’ charm was his dry sense of humor that would pop up at unusual times.

Myst didn’t exactly lack in the humor department either. She was more than capable of matching Bas’ sarcasm with a few snarky responses that sometimes caught him off guard. I’m so glad that Alexandra Ivy paired the very alpha Bas with the iron willed Myst because he would have stomped all over a lesser female. Where Bas was the physical strength, Myst was the intellectual strength and I loved that balance between them. That’s not to say Myst was a slouch at fighting because she wasn’t, she just had different methods. She was definitely one of those characters who made the best out of a bad situation but she’s been a loner for most of her life so connecting with others was new to her and I loved watching her learn that there were people she could count on.

There’s always something going on in an Ivy book and Blood Lust was no exception. The main story is of course Bas and Myst’s journey to find out how to stop her vision from coming true but there’s also the accompanying story (and budding… something) of Lana, otherwise known as the Mave, aka the leader of the high bloods and Wolfe, the leader of the Sentinals. He seems to be the only one not intimidated by her power and there’s an attraction between them for sure.

Really though, I loved how Bas went from despicable in the previous book, to reluctant and totally likable hero in this one. Ivy took his one positive quality which was his love for his daughter and used it as a stepping stone towards redeeming this dangerous, selfish, and cold character and I loved every step of the way. Bas and Myst weren’t the easiest couple but they are one of the most fun. The push and pull between them and the fun of watching them find their feet while co-parenting their daughter was worth the wait.

Review originally posted on my blog: A Book Obsession

I really enjoy this series. It has all the great parts of a strong urban fantasy with a full plot and plenty of action while also having all the yummy romance parts of paranormal romance. Each book moves the overall plot of the series while still having such a large focus on the romance, and I love it. BLOOD LUST was no exception. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's now my favorite book in the series. It combines two of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers and reunited lovers into one super tension filled yummy read. I knew from the first time Bas stepped onto the page in the previous books I HAD to read his story. He had broody scorned lover written all over him, and yet I just knew there was so much more to the mysterious Myst than Bas's anger showed her to be. I was right and boy do the sparks fly in this one. It's one of those books where you just immerse your self and settle in to watch the sparks fly. Seriously if you love a good enemies to lovers book with a fierce attraction between the pair, this one is for you.

Romance aside, there also was a really great plot in BLOOD LUST that kept me more than hooked. There's a big threat looming over not only Bas and Myst's heads but their entire race. What made it even more suspenseful was that it all revolved around a prophecy and no one really knew what it meant, only that it was so terrifying that Myst was willing to sacrifice everything to prevent it. I have to admit that I did guess early on what the prophecy really meant, but that actually made me enjoy it even more as I was able to savor the read a bit more rather than frantically turning the pages just to get to the reveal.

Another great thing about this book was the inclusion/foreshadowing of another couple, Lana and Wolfe. Or at least I hope they will become a couple. One of the reasons I love enemies to lovers books so much is all the oh so yummy tension that they bring, just like in BLOOD LUST. However there's plenty of tension between Lana and Wolfe, it practically sizzled right off the page, and they weren't even the focus of this book! It made everything all the more enjoyable the way future and past couples were weaved into the story seamlessly, making the series all the richer for it.

All in all if you love a tension filled romance with one heck of a plot, BLOOD LUST is the book for you. And if you haven't read the previous Sentinel books, make sure you check them out too as they are all entertaining reads.

Continuing directly from the storyline of the previous book, Blood Assassin, Bas must deal with the outfall of his daughter’s, Molly, kidnapping by supernatural forces. The events ruined his business, and he ended his roll as the leader of a renegade band of mercenary high-bloods. All he wants to do now is raise his daughter in peace, but that all changes when Molly’s mom, Myst, reenters their lives.

Myst had a one afternoon affair with Bas which resulted in a pregnancy. Leaving Molly with Bas after her birth, Myst has been in hiding and impossible to locate. Unknown to Bas, Myst has stayed in contact with Molly via telepathy, and promised Molly she’d come visit after the horrible ordeal. Now that Myst is back, Bas won’t let her go.

While you don’t need to have read the previous books in the Sentinels series to enjoy Blood Lust, the story arc started in the second book, which provides much of the background needed to better understand the high-blood mythology. I enjoyed reading Blood Lust and found the story easy to follow and straight-forward. Myst and Baz’s relationship had its bumps, but overall flowed smoothly. Their albeit brief shared history lends itself to a sexy reunion, fueled by the fact that Bas has longed for and searched for Myst ever since their one shared afternoon. I enjoyed watching the couple rekindle their feelings and act on their desires. I especially liked how open and honest Bas was with Myst, especially with his desires.

While the romance was engaging, I had a few troubles with the suspense/action part of the story which involves the Brotherhood, a high-blood hate group populated by human fanatics. Unfortunately, the group felt like a stereotype of cliched cults. I also felt some of the scenes were too easy, with convenient weapons and perfectly timed coincidences. Additionally, I would have loved it if the part of the story I found most intriguing, having to deal with Molly herself, was explored more.

Honestly, my favorite parts of the book had to do with the ongoing denial of Lana and Wolfe as they push the limits of their mutual desire. Ms. Ivy is building a wonderful, über-steamy relationship that drips with sexual tension. I want their book... I want to know more about their paths and how they can work out an HEA.

In the end, I enjoyed my time spent in the world of high-bloods and Sentinels. Ms. Ivy has developed an interesting mythology, which I plan to explore in subsequent titles. Blood Lust is a good addition to the series, but it’s another couple’s romantic journey I long for.

All Things Urban Fantasy

BLOOD LUST is another excellent, bold, action-packed installment of The Sentinels series. I love when we are given the opportunity to see interesting side characters from previous books get their own book. For BLOOD LUST we get Bas, a mysterious assassin who caught my eye earlier in this series. I liked how there was a role reversal of sorts with the man being left with a baby and the woman leaving only to return some years later. Bas comes off as a very dedicated and protective father which is an interesting contrast to his assassin career. Myst, the mother of Bas's daughter Molly, is a puzzle who's backstory is central to the riveting plot.

The conflict the had to overcome in their relationship was obvious. Who wouldn't be upset if the mother/father of your kid suddenly reappears after leaving for years without reasons. Luckily they do sit down and talk out the reasons for their emotions and actions which seemed pretty realistic. And as Myst actually explained her reasons for being essentially a 'dead-beat mom' I warmed up to her a lot and took back my 'dead-beat mom' thoughts!

Now, the book wasn't talking a dispensing of feelings. The plot revolves around a prophecy involving a humans-only cult who fear the powered individuals. As Bas and Myst try to rekindle their feelings they are thrown head first into a world ending plot full of close calls, twists, and tons of wonderfully tense moments that had me wondering if they'd make it in the end. In the midst of this plot Bas and Myst are able to rekindle their romance which was a touch too much of the insta-love trope. But they fit so well together that I didn't really mind.

BLOOD LUST was a very enjoyable read filled with action, suspense, and romance.

Bas is a Sentinel assassin who is a wanted man among the High-Bloods, those with special abilities. Myst is a clairvoyant who is avoiding the High-Bloods' headquarters, Valhalla, because she had a vision that she would create a weapon that would bring death and destruction to it.

Five years ago Bas and Myst had a one-time encounter that resulted in a daughter, Molly. Myst had to abandon Molly with Bas and go on the run. Unknown to Bas, Myst has been in mental contact with her daughter.

After Molly was kidnapped (BLOOD ASSASSIN), Myst takes a risk and visits Molly. Bas and Myst realize that the attraction they couldn't forget can't be denied. Together, they try to find out more about Myst's vision so that she can be free to be with Bas and Molly.

In the meantime, the anti-High-Bloods Brotherhood is plotting to gain Myst's weapon for themselves.

I liked Bas and Myst, and Molly was a delight. The plot was suspenseful and had a good twist to it. I thought I had it all figured out, but then Ivy twisted the twist.

But what really stole the show was the sizzling, off-the-charts attraction between the head of the High-Bloods, Lana, and the head of the Sentinels, Wolfe. Wow! They burned up the pages. I can't wait for their story!

I have followed this series because I adore the characters and writing style, and this book was more of the same! Bas has searched for Myst since they had a fleeting 'moment' in his office. When she returned and left their baby for him to raise, he tried convince himself she was the worst. She walks in and once again turns his world up-side-down and isn't the woman he tried to believe she is. Myst had her own reasons for leaving and hiding. Now she wants to bond with her little girl and keep the brotherhood away from both of them, which is easier said than done.
I liked Bas from the last book. While he wasn't the most endearing person, he was a totally devoted father. Myst was a wonderful character. Loving mother, selfless woman and scared girl. The Mave and Tagos are in this book and wow! I wasn't expecting Bas to trust them at all but the back story helped with that. Myst's determination not to let herself be used by the brotherhood was understandable and sad. I loved the connection Myst and Bas have, while it is a craving, it is also just a need to be together.
It was a 5/5. Absolutely cannon wait to read the next book in the series.
Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book (via netgalley). I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

It was Bas's turn. So excite I was when I began. Okay. Let me say that there was no. Absolutely, no disappointment in the mere hours it took me to read this one. Holy. Holy. Holy. Action. Suspense. Action. Drama. Action. Romance.

This was so anticipate. Molly, Bas, and Myst. Things were bound to come about and picking up were the last left off. No you don't have to have read the one before. Its just great background into all the connections and build ups. Ivy loves her characters and you can glimmer all that just from reading her books. She set up new/side/secondary characters with possibilities that could present later for them to become more to the reader.

Anyway I was babbling. Bas loves his daughter. There was one other that he loved also. When all comes out on why she has been running, Bas makes her priority also with keeping their daughter safe. The love between the two shines bright and hot.

You just have to know there is more coming. Alexandra Ivy can write some paranormal immortal romance with action, drama, suspense, and oh my steam, heat, scorching goodness all the way round. What is next?????

“He didn’t know what it was about this female, but she set off a chain reaction within him that was impossible to combat.” – Blood Lust, Alexandra Ivy

**advance reader copy received via NetGalley**

My Review:
I really enjoyed this story featuring outlaw assassin Bas and his absent love interest Myst as characters. I think that this author works to build up the personalities within her series, sometimes kindling the romance for multiple books. Bas is both despicable and admirable, and has a lot of the anti-hero qualities that many readers enjoy despite his dark nature. Myst seems innocent and lovely despite being a mother and a victim of horrible treatment in captivity. While I prefer stronger female leads in my stories, I think that Myst’s more gentle strength seems to compliment Bas’s open aggressiveness and her character grows a little as the story progresses. In this book you will find steamy love scenes, despicable villains, and admirable heroes. This is a great story within a winning paranormal romance series, and I think this author delivers each time she publishes.

Bas!!! Finally!!!
I was so happy to get a review copy of Blood Lust. I have been wanting to read Bas’ story for a while now. He is such a good daddy to Molly! And how can you not love a badass assassin who is like putty with his little girl. You can’t!! I was also happy to learn more about how Bas met Molly’s mom and what happened between them.

I really enjoyed this story. The tension between Bas & Myst is fun. They are so good together. And Molly... oh sweet little Molly!!! I just want to hug her. She is one tough little girl.

I will say that you will want to start this series from the beginning so that you can get a better understand of Bas and he past. I can’t wait to see what is next for us in this series.

Myst suddenly appears in the home of Bas shortly after their young daughter is returned from being kidnapped. Myst has been in hiding trying to find out what one of her visions means so she can prevent the horrors she fears she may spring at some point in the future on an unsuspecting world. As Bas and Myst discuss the situation and come up with a plan they get to know one another better and come up with a plan to find the answers Myst so desperately is seeking.

This is the first book in this series that I have read but it is able to stand alone without reading previous books and does not end with a cliffhanger. I really liked Myst and Bas together and their daughter Molly added to their story and the overall story as well. I want to know more about Wolfe and Lana and wonder if Kaede will get a story of his own, too.

This was a fun and easy supernatural fantasy romance filled with suspense, good and evil, hot scenes, alpha males, magic and a whole lot more. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for the copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

REVIEW

*May contain spoilers *

I just love this series and book three begins where book two left off.
Bas of course has his little girl back however, Molly had not let him know that her mom Myst has been communicating with her via mind speak.
Bas does not want Myst anywhere near their daughter but something transpires to cause a change of heart.
So much is happening in Vahalla and now it is up to the new comers to perhaps save them all.
It is all hands on deck in this one so grab your copy and get reading. Suspense, Romance, and Action galore. Loved it.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

Once again we meet Bas the Sentinel assassin, the elusive Myst and that adorable little pixie of a child Molly. Bas a hardened mercenary whose only soft spot was Molly now realizes that Myst is not what he thought she was, a heartless woman who had abandoned her only child. In fact, Myst had made the ultimate sacrifice, she was protecting her child from her fate, a future much more horrible than anyone could imagine. This book is all about their quest to prevent that disaster from happening. But unfortunately the odds are stacked against them and every step they take to prevent it, takes them deeper into making come true.
