Willing to dare the impossible. Only such a man could help the Countess Caroline Moncrief in her hour of need. And in Jeremiah Sparhawk she recognized her champion. A hero who would storm the very gates of Hell at her asking.
A Woman of Courage
Caroline Moncrief was Jeremiah's own true destiny. No matter that she belonged to another. He knew from the very first that their fates were entwined, and that he would grant her deepest desire, though it would tear his heart asunder.
Despite initial apprehension (based, in large part, upon the truly horrific cover), I rather liked this book.
A warning for anyone reading this- technically, the heroine cheats on her husband, but it didn't really bother me. The husband more or less told her to (on their wedding night, no less), and was more a father to her than a husband.
I liked that the hero realized he was in love pretty early in the story, and he stuck to it. Lots of angst and emotional upheaval can be good, but they can also get somewhat tiring. So most of the excitement came from the adventure plot.
I had a problem with the disposal of the villain at the end, though.
But overall this was a pretty fun book, and I liked it.
