Pillsbury

Pillsbury is a brand name used by Minneapolis-based General Mills and Orrville, Ohio-based J.M. Smucker Company. Historically, the Pillsbury Company, also based in Minneapolis, was a rival company to General Mills and was one of the world's largest producers of grain and other foodstuffs until it was bought out by General Mills in 2001. Antitrust law required General Mills to sell off some of the products. General Mills kept the rights to refrigerated and frozen Pillsbury products, while dry baking products and frosting are now sold by Smucker under license.

These are desserts so they are not about 1) eating healthily, 2) controlling caloric intake 3) watching carbs, fat and cholesterol! On the other hand... the pictures are lovely, the ideas behind the recipes are tempting and desserts are not really for everyday anyway. So it will take a while to try out those I'd like to taste. THe one disappointment is that many of the cake recipes call for a cake mix.

So far I really like this recipe book. Really easy recipes, common ingrediants, and the first one I've tried turned out being pretty tasty. Lots of pictures (but there isn't a picture for each recipe), and glossy pages.

Bunch of great recipes. Just wish not so many of them included pre-made items like cake mix, some of the recipes are original and never seen before, and some are classics that everyone knows about. The cook book includes multiple chapters, cakes and tortes, pies and tarts, cheesecakes and puddings, cobblers and crisps, pastries and other desserts as well.
