This book is a fabulous compendium of Renaissance and Baroque life, beliefs, and traditions. The illustrations are perfect. Too bad this book has gone out of print. It should be in every living historian and historic interpreter's personal library.

I enjoyed this collection of folklorish tidbits (mostly from the 17th through 19th century). It actually references where most of the lore is from, which is nice. The pictures are apropriate and also well-referenced. This would make a sweet gift book.
