Out from under Verity’s thumb, Allie must navigate the streets of LA—a hotbed for dark alchemists—in search for a way to free those they left behind. With Mark and Jackie at her side, they must brave the real, but no less strange, Alchemist Academy.

Gaining a few friends, and even more enemies, the trio search for those whole can help them and at the top of the list is Allie’s missing mom, Cathy Norton. But will Cathy be anything like the mother she remembers from her childhood?

A war between Alchemists is brewing, but what side should even win.

There is so much action in this book that it is hard to keep up. The academies are like night and day but I don't think I would want to go to either of them. They are both extreme in opposite directions. Blaine was an interesting addition. I am not sure he is any less crazy than the others, though. I am definitely curious as to where it all leads.

A shorter book than the first installment of the series..(I literally finished it in three hours.) But here's the thing! This one was way better than the first book.

It had a lot going on in some places but man, it was sick! And that twist at the end??!!!Did not see that coming.. That sick SOB! Not going to lie though.. there were a lot of moments in the story where I wanted(very badly) to smash Allie's head because Can she please be a little more sensible? Why is common sense not so common in the lead characters?

Also, why wasn't there more Rainbow Brite Academy? And where is my unhealthy dosage of Kylie? I freaking love that woman! (A close call to how much I love Jackie or Carly or Bridget!) Also, can I get a hell yeah for all the mommas in the book? because damn! those women are hardcore!

End line.. If we ignore that fact that Allie is self obsessed to an unbearable extent, this is one hell of a book!

This series keeps tiptoeing the line between interesting and meh. It still seems like there could be a lot more to this story, but the world and lore building is lazy at best.
2 books in and we barely understand alchemy (at least this one kind of mentions more details about the "patterns").
The pace of this story is also sometimes hard to keep up with, but got done with it in less than 6 hours.
One more book to finish and I'm pretty sure I won't find the answers I'm looking for in it.

Exciting

Allie fights I can picture her standing in the front with the stones and shouting. My imagination is going wild when I read.

A lot seemed to happen and they were jumping around a lot. Almost hard to keep up with the pace of the book, but it was an interesting story.

An awesome book

I can not wait till the next one. I want to know which side is going to win. Is either side have the right to win. Plus I loved the twist towards the end with the main characters. I will be on the look out for the next book.

It felt a little rushed but it was pretty fast paced. I can't help but feel that there are some gaping holes in the plot but maybe the next book will help fill in the blanks.

Loved it

The tension, the excitment, the fast pacing of the action were just great. I can't wait to get started on book 3.
