Mark Morris became a full-time writer in 1988 on the Enterprise Allowance Scheme, and a year later saw the release of his first novel, Toady. He has since published a further sixteen novels, among which are Stitch, The Immaculate, The Secret of Anatomy, Fiddleback, The Deluge and four books in the popular Doctor Who range.
His short stories, novellas, articles and reviews have appeared in a wide variety of anthologies and magazines, and he is editor of the highly-acclaimed Cinema Macabre, a book of fifty horror movie essays by genre luminaries, for which he won the 2007 British Fantasy Award.
His most recently published or forthcoming work includes a novella entitled It Sustains for Earthling Publications, a Torchwood novel entitled Bay of the Dead, several Doctor Who audios for Big Finish Productions, a follow-up volume to Cinema Macabre entitled Cinema Futura and a new short story collection, Long Shadows, Nightmare Light.

August 15, 2024"The Veils" by Ian Rogers - After Drew's sister commits suicide he looks into the mysterious circumstance and discovers a common denominator of group stock photos of people who have their faces obscured by veils that appear black to Drew. He learns from a photographer named Angela that had worked with his sister when the veils show as red to the people looking at the photos they are compelled to take their lives. Angela informs Drew that a woman named Cassandra took the photos and he tracks her down. He meets his end when she has him ride a merry-go-round that spins at breakneck speed.
"Behind the Wall" by Thana Niveau - Julie moves to a village after her husband dies that has the custom of walling up a room for the deceased. Julie learns her husband was cheating on her with Alice when Alice comes over to warn her that she built a wall for Sam too so what is behind Julie's wall can't be Sam.
"Toys from the Gingerbread Country" by Richard Jay Goldstein - Katie's mother is murdered by her alien stepmother who provides her with a dollhouse that infects her with tiny creatures.
"Who Will Stop Me Now?" by Cliff McNish - This is a body horror story describing Susie's transformation into a monster beginning with an enlarged left arm.
"Wrong" by Stephen Volk - An art student lodges with a man who sleeps in the same bed with the corpse of his wife for three weeks after she dies.
"Mary, Mary" by Ray Cluley - A new family moves in next door with a little boy that Mary turns into mulch for her garden.
