Charming

Rate this book
After seven hundred years, Prince has acquired everything a Packmaster could desire. But when he meets the enchanting Nadia Kozlov, he realizes there’s one thing he doesn’t have: answers. Prince owes his life to a man he hasn’t seen in centuries, and Nadia holds the key to his whereabouts, because that man is her father.

Destinies collide when Nadia’s sister shows up unexpectedly. Katarina is a skilled bounty hunter, hot on the trail of a nefarious outlaw who turns out to be Prince’s old nemesis. Prince teams up with Nadia’s sister to track down the Mage, but the real game of cat and mouse is already underway as sparks fly between Prince and the cunning bounty hunter.

The only trouble? Nadia wants him too.

"Most men can only handle me in small doses."

In the Seven series timeline, this full-length novel is 6.5 and comes after Two Minutes. However, Charming can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone and won't give away spoilers to the series. This is a full-length novel.

*I gave this audiobook an A for the narration and a B+ for the story at AudioGals*

Well, it’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the Seven series audiobooks which sport the fantastic author/narrator duo of Dannika Dark and Nicole Poole. Charming is the seventh book that I have listened to in this series although it is technically labeled as the 6.5 book in the series due to its novella length. And it is safe to say that the characters in these books – which ordinarily must be read in chronological order – have become like those of a favorite television or movie series for me. Every time a new book comes out, I can’t wait to get myself firmly entrenched in their new romantic and shifter/urban fantasy world adventures. Interestingly though, while Charming does feature the romantic journey of one of the key secondary characters from the other books, it could easily be enjoyed as a standalone as it is a spin-off story that revolves around past events and a different pack of shifters than the main characters of the other books (ie, the Weston Pack). Additionally, there is some cross-over from the Mageri series by Dannika Dark/Nicole Poole as it also features a mage as the “bad guy” in the story, and therefore could easily be enjoyed by fans of that series as well.

For those of you who have been following the Seven series, Charming‘s hero is Prince. Prince has been featured in several of the prior books as one of the most powerful packmasters in the area due primarily to the fact that he is one of the oldest wolf shifters still alive (over 700 years old) and hails from the royal blood of one of the original shifter families. Given he is a pure-blood, Prince has great power and is greatly respected, but it also means that he feels that he has his own obligations to maintain his bloodline pure which means that he has never settled down with a mate.

Charming is #6.5 of Dannika Dark's paranormal/shifter romance series titled: Seven. If you follow the Seven series and have already read Two Minutes, the installment before this one, then you will be familiar with Prince's character. This is his story, and after finishing Two Minutes, I was so excited to see some follow-up for him.

Prince's romance didn't quite turn out as Two Minutes leads readers to expect, but I enjoyed the direction Ms. Dark decided to take. I was already a fan of Prince and I quickly became a fan of this novel's heroine as well, even though I found her edging on annoying at times. Immediately after finishing Charming, I was planning to rate it three stars, but decided to add a half star for Prince himself. He's certainly no Prince Charming, but he is a sexy, confident, and powerful hero and fortunately our kickass heroine doesn't need the fairytale song and dance from her man. Good for her.

My favorite quote:
Sometimes you have to get close to the edge to remind yourself what life's about. It's not just about rules or what's on TV tonight. It's about taking a second to look up and admire the universe. It's about taking a deep breath and listening to the sounds of life... Sitting on the edge reminds me that someday I'm going to be nothing more than a handful of dust so I need to make the most of every opportunity. The only way to live life is to live in the present. You can't put things off thinking you'll have time later. There may not be a later.

Please note that although Ms. Dark listed Charming as installment #6.5, it is a full-length novel and not a novella. The Seven series includes the following installments as of December 2015. The ratings are my opinion only.

This might be novel 6.5 in the Seven series but this is a full length novel with a story that should NOT be missed.

Prince, one of the oldest and has the purest bloodlines of all the pack leaders around, is finally going to meet his match.

Nadia, his best friend’s daughter, is his everything he's ever dreamed of finding in a mate. He's been searching for years for a pure blood. She’s also regal and successful, exactly what he thought he always wanted. Until her bounty hunting twin, Katarina, comes crashing into their date. The polar opposite of Nadia, Prince is drawn to the cunning and sassy vixen, Katarina.

Katarina approaches Prince with a chance to hunt down the Mage responsible for her father’s disappearance. Prince must decide how to juggle his duty, responsibility and honor.

Passionate and enthralling, Charming provides an amazing heartfelt adventure.

I received this ARC copy of Charming from Enchantress Design & Promo in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication December 8, 2016.

Charming is a story in the Seven series, and it was delightful to get to know Prince better... I thought he was so ornery, but getting to understand him made a big difference.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Prince was really the one character I already knew when I started listening to Charming, and I really enjoyed him. I was intrigued by Nadia at first, but she also came across as both bitchy and quite distant, especially after I got to know her twin sister Kat... She is a strong woman, and Alpha, and she listens to her instincts that tell her their dad is still alive, even if he has been missing for ten years. As a bounty hunter, she thinks she's on the trail of the man who might have had something to do with her father's disappearance, and it just so happens Prince has a bone to pick with the mage Vlad as well.

Poole is the perfect narrator for Charming, she has a repertoire of different voices and accents, and she's amazing at amping up the tension when needed. And in tender moments, she expertly conveys the feelings needed for the listener to be completely engrossed in what is happening. There is quite a bit of mystery in Charming, as Kat is looking for her father, and she is both surprised and amazed that Prince is willing and able to help her out. There are some good fights, and Kat definitely knows how to hold her own. And of course, their wolves realize that Prince and Kat should be together before their human side does, and this is one of the things I really enjoy with shifter romances!

Kat really grew in this story, which is amazing to me, as it was a novella. Of course, I already knew the universe, and I had met Prince several times before, and he showed me a different side to himself as well. Kat is definitely the kind of woman who could be good with Prince, because she's just as strong-minded as he is. The mystery, the overall story-arc and the plot were all well executed, and Poole narrated Charming to perfection!

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The desire to protect her too over all sense of reason.

"You're vibrating." "Uhm, yes." "No. Your pocket - your phone is vibrating."

Kat & Charming

OK so if your not familiar with this series you wouldn't understand some of what I am going to say but that's OK because this book is awesome anyways.

Now I lovvvvved Prince up until Two Minutes. Then for me he turned in to a douche and I don't even really know why. Maybe he was like that in the other books and I just had my Charming glasses on or what. But the way he was in Two Minutes I was so mad with him. Don't get me started on Nadia that girl she needs to chill. So when that whole thing happened in that book I was almost like good reddens... BUTTTT...

Then Kat comes in to his life and pretty much tosses him on his booty. Everything he knows or think he knows is about to get challenged and Kat is just the wolf to show him the way.

The dynamic between Kat and Nadia omg I wanted to shake the girl up and be like can't you see she loves you and just wants you to accept her for who she is and be ok with that. I mean really. But sisters I get it. I have one I know. lol.

Oh but I just loved this book Sigh.. still Reno and April have my heart.. But Kat and Charming now have a corner. ;)

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

(RabidReads.com)Charming. Sounds kind of like a fairytale doesn’t it? I knew it was going to be about Prince, a character from this author’s Seven Series, but really wondered about the name. It ended up being the perfect title for this absolutely charming, Seven World novel.

Prince has never been a favorite character of mine, especially since he figured prominently in Two Minutes, and not in a good way-at least not in my mind. However, that being said, I absolutely adored his character in this book. In previous books, he was always the perfect gentleman, and of course he is a wolf shifter, but that doesn’t keep him from exuding class from his pores. He’s ancient, even for a shifter, is of the purest werewolf blood, and is considered royalty among wolves. It’s that blood that has kept him alive so long, and that life has been pretty lonely for him without a mate. In his quest to find someone of royal blood to mate with, he meets Nadia through his association with the Weston pack. Nadia ends up being pretty boring and all about perfection, but when he meets her identical twin sister, Katarina, all bets are off! Kat is everything Nadia isn’t, and not anything he ever thought he would ever want. But, oh does he want her! She became for me, one of my favorite female characters that this author has ever written.

Prince, a rich and powerful packmaster, paired with a leather clad, female bounty hunter is a surprising combination, but it actually works. Kat says what she thinks, and she really doesn’t care what others think-or tries not to anyway. Beneath that tough exterior though, she does have a soft heart. She is very loyal to her family, sometimes to her own detriment. And she also takes the word clumsy to another level entirely. This made for some humorous moments in this read.

As with anything this author writes, there is plenty of action to be had. After enlisting Prince’s help in finding her father, Kat gets him involved in all sorts of fun/scary moments. Romance? This read ended up being a wonderful romance. If you have never read anything by Dark, and you love paranormal romance and/or urban fantasy, you really must try her books. They are sexy, without being erotica, and never, ever feature cliffhangers-which I completely appreciate! This particular book is a standalone, but Seven Series readers will recognize a couple of characters from previous books-always a plus for me in a read.

If I had one thing to say even slightly bad about this read, it’s that it is too short. It’s a full length read, I just wanted more, as I do with anything this author writes. It’s very well written, but towards the end, I think a couple of scenes could have been shown, rather then told about. And that just goes back to me wanting more of the story, because I am greedy when it comes to Dark’s work.

Wonderful characters, interesting premise, and fast paced, this book will capture your interest, and not let go. Highly recommended to all adult paranormal romance readers.

This book is by far the best. I loved Kat. She is candor, sassy, a handful (positive), some of the things she came out with were great. She is totally kick arse and she is my new drinking buddy one who is loyal but full of mischief and cheek.

Now Prince aka Charming is old, well ancient to be exact and he is as stiff as they come. Until he meets Kat although he was interested in her twin Nadia to begin with. Then he falls for Kat. He changes not that he isn't totally bad arse, he is but he gets better.

I din't like Nadia she is a b't*h and the way she treated Kat. Utter cow!

The plot was good but I would have loved Kat to hook up with the gang of the Weston Pack, now that would have been one heck of a party.

Prince was very lucky being in the right place and the right time. Meeting Nadia at the Weston’s pack then meeting Katarina at Nadia’s place.

I very much like Kat, a badass klutz and very entertaining. As for Prince he redeemed himself in this one. Didn’t like how he acted in the previous book (Two Minutes).

Overall I liked the story it was fun, light and a nice filler for the series

This is book #6.5 in the Seven series. I had the privilege of reading book 3 and 4 and if I were to compare them all I would have to say that this installment was the better of the three. What I love about the series is that all of the books can be read as a stand-alone and Charming was no different.
This installment was funny, entertaining and engaging. I was pulled into the story from the first page and was held captive throughout the entire story. I never lost interest for a moment. It was that captivating.

In Charming, we meet Prince, a 700-year-old pureblood werewolf.  He is originally from Russia but relocated to America to start over. In the process, he became a pack master who was feared and respected by his pack mates. Things were going well until the moment his past collided with his present. At this point, we meet Nadia Koslov, the daughter of the alpha werewolf who saved his life several centuries ago. In a bid to re-connect with his savior, he sought to obtain information from Nadia.  Because of her pureblood status, he thought she would be the perfect mate for him. As such his reason for seeking her out was twofold. However, he never counted on meeting her twin sister Katarina Koslov.

Katarina and Nadia are identical twins but were as different as night and day.  Nadia bought and sold antiques while Katarina was a bounty huntress. When Prince discovered that her mark was an old enemy of his he decided to team up with her with the hope that he would finally get his revenge.  Nadia came off as a snob. Katarina was selfless, funny, quirky, outspoken, sassy and down to earth. She always puts her sister’s needs before her, especially when it came to affairs of the heart.   It is clear that although Nadia behaved like an entitled princess, it was evident she was jealous of her sister.

I enjoyed the banter between Prince and Katarina.  She brought out a side of him that people rarely saw. She brought laughter and joy into his world. Working with her allowed him to see that behind her badass demeanor was a woman who loved fiercely.   I liked that Katarina was willing to step back at times and allow Prince to take charge.   It was easy to understand why the characters behaved the way they did. The author provided sufficient background information on them all. My favourite character is Katarina.  She helped to make the story into the funny and entertaining read that it was.

I thought the story was well written. The pacing was steady. I do believe that the balance between the romance and the action was adequate. One did not overshadow the other. The ending was great. The author wrapped up everything nicely as such I was not left with any unanswered questions.
To conclude, this was a great addition to the series.  If you are a fan of paranormal romance and have never read any of the books in this series, you are missing out on some great stories.   I highly recommend that you rectify this oversight.

Prince is a seven hundred year old shifter of pure blood. Being such, he has not mated and has been biding his time to find a pure blood to meet his standards. He met such a shifter in Nadia Koslov and he also discovers that her father is an old friend that had saved his life from a mage. Not knowing what had happened to his old friend, he decides to entertain Nadia. That is until another strange lady shows up during his date with Nadia. This woman is everything that he and Nadia are not. She is free spirited and also a bounty hunter. Let's just say that Prince is more than a little intrigued with Nadia's twin sister. Kat Koslov talks Prince into helping her locate her father and the man who had kidnapped him. The very same mage that had almost killed him. This is a great who done it with twists and turns. Kat is a breath of fresh air and I liked her from her introduction.

Glad to see this. I will be sad when we get to this point since the series will be almost over

I liked this more on audio than when I read it. We meet Nadia in the last book as her and Prince meet for the first tine. He becomes intrigued in her because of her father but even more so when her twin shows up. I loved Kat. She is strong, sassy and a bounty hunter in a male dominated profession. Prince does not know what to think of her but he likes her attitude.

Oh, this was one of my favorite Dannika Dark books. Prince absolutely captivated me here, as did Katarina with her tough demeanor and silly ways, while her prim and selfish sister, Nadia, might have looked so much better for him on paper. I think theirs was my very favorite romance in the entire series! And man, was their romancing steamy when they finally got around to it!

Here is what I LOVE the most about Dannika’s writing: her ability to make every character’s story count in a big way. This book kept me engaged the whole time and left me thoroughly satisfied.
In this story, I went in expecting to get a redemption for Prince, and redeemed he was! It felt though, like the story focused more on the twins then on Prince, and that was a great treat in my opinion, because it transported me in to the story to see him - not only through my eyes, but also through the eyes of such a charismatic character.
Katarina is bold, giving, tough, and unapologetically genuine. She is sentimental and her heart is fierce when it comes to protecting the ones she loves. Her twin Nadia though, gives much import to the opinion of others. She portrays an image of class and strength, and although she wants to appear in control she fights hard to remain unforgiving and protect her heart. They are polar opposites and sometimes enrage one another, but no matter what they are united by an unbreakable bond.
At the end of the previous novel (Two Minutes), I was so disappointed in Prince. Albeit for just a hot minute. I thought of him as an opportunistic prick at first, but after I digested the story I came to give him the benefit of the doubt. I have to force myself to remember that sometimes there is more to what we see in the surface.
All in all, I loved how Dannika developed Prince’s story to show where he was coming from. Even if many don’t agree with his way of being it’s hard not to respect it knowing his background. It was good to see him be stricken by true love and realize that no matter how much we try to control or rationally think that we know what we want, when love hits you, it gives you a choice to surrender and feel uniquely dazzled or just defy it and miss your chance to be truly happy.
Dannika did right by Prince, the twins, and by her readers. I thought the story started, developed, and ended perfectly.

Dark begins by giving us some details regarding Prince's history as she introduces Nadia the daughter of someone Prince owes an enormous debt. From the onset, I disliked Nadia. She was bitchy, arrogant and way too high maintenance for my tastes. Fortunately her twin sister Kat showed up unexpectedly and was my kind of bestie.

Nadia and Kat's father once saved Prince's life, and until now Prince thought him dead. Up until ten years ago he had survived and rebuilt his pack. Nadia believes her father to be dead, but Kat is trusting her instincts and believes her father is alive and in trouble. Kat is a bounty hunter and has spent the last ten years chasing a Mage she believes is holding her father. When Prince discovers the Mage is an old nemesis, he decides to assist Kat. The tale that unfolds was addictive as Prince finds himself falling for Kat, which is a bit awkward since he asked Nadia out first. Oops.

I loved listening to this tale. Poole has the perfect voice for Dark's tales, and her large range of voices and accents brought the story to life. From the Russian accents to playful tones of the characters personalities, actions and the stories suspenseful overtones popped to life in vivid 3-D.

The title is absolutely perfect, and I laughed when the reason was revealed. Kat's foodgasms to her teasing banter with Prince had me grinning like a fool. Prince is very formal and reserved so it was fun seeing Kat wholly unman him. These two Alphas tango and it resulted in a delicious, suspenseful tale that I devoured in a single listen. Charming (Seven #6.5) by Dannika Dark Seven-hundred-year-old Packmaster, Prince, finally meets a woman he desires as a potential mate, Katarina Kozlov.  She also happens to be the daughter of a man whom he owes his life, a man who has gone missing.

Dannika Dark does a considerable job with her character development.  I think it is admirable that Katarina is a bounty hunter.  She is tough and wants to something meaningful with her life.  I love how loyal she is.  She is the total opposite of her twin sister, Nadia, who is very refined (more like Prince).  Prince has witnessed a lot throughout the centuries.  He dresses well and is sophisticated.  He exudes Alpha.  I think it is great that he appreciates Kat and is not a snob.  Their conversations are entertaining.  I love that she brings him up to speed on modern lingo.

Vladimir Romanov is an interesting advisory.  He is cruel and cunning.  The characters have a fascinating history that attention grabbing.

I appreciated Dannika Dark’s environments and descriptions.  I especially appreciated the atmosphere Prince created at the basement level of his home.

I enjoyed the plot.  It was creative how the characters’ lives intertwined.  The story is fast-paced and exciting.  There are numerous mysterious twists.  I love that members of the Weston Pack make appearances in the story.  Charming is a great compliment to the Seven Series.  It is a wonderful read for lovers of paranormal romance.

This book was truly amazing from the start. I wasn't really a fan of Prince in the beginning not to say I didn't like him I just wasn't that interested in him. Well this book started off with a bang and it just kept getting better. I gobbled up the words on the pages and before you knew it in two days I was completely done with this book. I loved the plot and character development. I am never disapointed with any of Dannika Dark's books and this one was the icing on the cake. It has made me go back and read the all the other Seven Series novels.

Charming - a word I'd never considered in conjunction with Prince, the serious, rigid, disciplined Packmaster. I was curious about the title and I was absolutely pleased with how Ms. Dark worked that word into the story.

Charming is a story I was happy to get. While Prince isn't necessarily my favorite character in the Seven series, he does have my respect. He's disciplined in his leadership, but a fair, if arrogant, man. Getting his backstory, learning his history, answered so many questions about him. I appreciated those answers. Of course, getting those answers was precipitated by Prince meeting Nadia and Katarina Kozlov - the daughters of a man with an important role in Prince's past. Kat's appearance is brought about due to her job and her search for her father - and a Mage, who also played a pivotal rile in Prince's life.

Despite there being some tension and suspense, coupled with some action, Charming might be the lightest story in this series. This is mostly due to Kat and her feisty personality. She has no filter and the things that come out of her mouth had me, and Prince, laughing! I like how Charming played out but what I enjoyed the most - the thing that had me snickering often , is the fact that Prince falls for a woman so unlike him - so opposite of what he thought he'd been looking for. And watching that made for a lot of fun.

Nicole Poole, as usual, impressed me with her narration. Her delivery kept the packing perfect and her voices and accents for both men and women were spot on.

I'm eager to see how this series winds up but at the same time, I hate to see it end.

I loved that we get to know Prince better.. his heritage and his passions. He is intrigued by Nadia but there is no spark between them... suddenly Kat lands in town and she is like a windstorm and rain shower all at the same time!
She is an alpha wolf, working as a bounty hunter, and loves her job!
She is tracking a mage and that is when their lives collide because Prince has history with this mage!
Kat reminds me of Ivy, because she wants him but she wants him to become more of a part of his pack... eating dinner with the pack! Prince says I'll try it but if don't like it I will continue to eat in my room...
hahaha! She says, well if this is going to work I will be eating with the pack .... Love and loyalty are stronger than fear!
We have to get through kidnappings and stolen property before the end!!!
She is perfect for him!!

Dark expertly weaves two tales into what reads as charming biographical fiction. Clever tales of present day characters entwined with centuries-old histories of events that compose the life tapestry of Prince, Packmaster pureblood from the old country, Russia. Prince restored his title of 'prince charming' once again from this reader. Katarina is delightful, witty and a fierce heroine. Nadia becomes more likeable and lovable as Dannika Dark weaves her tale with new and old characters, revealing the history shared by Prince, Alex, and Vlad. The read was a double pleasure: a great read of intense love, suspenseful conflicts and touching scenes of deep emotion as Dark spins a tale of characters we love and miss at book's end. So this reader must remark, well done! A happy Christmas to all and to all a Charming read.

Prince Charming indeed!
After reading Dannika's last book in this series my opinion of Prince changed and I didn't really like him anymore. He seemed so cold and practical that when I saw that this next book was going to be about Prince I was bummed. BUT this book changed my mind completely. I loved getting to read Prince's back story and then getting to read his happily ever after. Like with all Dannika's books I read this book in one sitting, just can't put them down!! It just saddens Mr greatly that her next book will be our last in this series with these characters!!! Nooooooo! Why does it have to end?!?! Please Dannika don't let it end!!

I really couldn't wait to read Prince's story. He the prim and proper Packmaster that I was dying to learn more about. I could definitely see Nadia turning his head, but I really wanted her sister Kat to turn him inside out. Nadia was also prim and proper while Kat is wild and exciting. I loved Kat. She was fun and sassy and Prince was in desperate need of all she could give him. He so needed to take a walk on her wild side. Then Nadia is taken and Prince and Kat have to work together to find both her and their father. I so enjoyed their story and can't wait for more of this series.

I give Charming 4 hearts!

Charming (Seven #6.5) by Dannika Dark I'm a huge fan of Dark's Seven series and Prince has long been a character I wanted to know more about. I was glad to get this chance to peek at his history and to see him get his HEA. Twin sisters who are total opposites, Prince's oldest friend in trouble, and Prince feeling the need to finally settle down and mate. Hrm...what's not to like?

What a great book!! I didn't think it was going to be so involved like all the other books but it so was. You don't get much of the Weston pack but you so don't need it. I really didn't care for prince before this book. Oh do I love him and I love that Kat brought out the best in him. I love her character so much as well. I was worried because I didn't feel like I would care for Nadia and I still don't but everything turned out great! Must read!!

Prince has always been interesting and I have always wanted to know more about him. He has always seemed to fit his name and Kat was definately not a princess. The female bounty hunter was rough around the edges and she quickly began to pull Prince in. They teamed up to find her father and he quickly realized she was the mate he has been looking for for over seven hundred years.

This was a good, quick listen. Prince is a Packmaster and is of the 'old royal' blood. That means he needs to mate with a female from 'old royal' blood as well. He meets Nadia and thinks she might just be the one. It is very interesting that she is also the daughter of his long lost friend who saved his life. Then the twist shows up in Kat. She is Nadia's twin sister and polar opposite.
Kat is a bounty hunter and not exactly who a Packmaster would look at for a mate except that she is exactly what Prince (Charming) needs. The narrator for this one made the characters come alive for me. Kat's sass was wonderful and it contradicted so well with Charming's proper attitude! Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
It was a 4/5 for me.

I loved Charming. Kat is one of my favorite characters. She is so real and to see what Price was willing to do for her. So happy for the way it ended. I think I would have liked more of them mated and together.
