Such a beautiful book. Every pose is well defined an exquisite photographed. Any who loves yoga will love it. There is so much to learn and this book makes it easy from the beginning. Note: I received a digital edition of this book free from Netgalley for review purposes
WOW! This book is fantastic! I love that each pose is in full color photographs that are beautiful. I can not wait until this is published so I can go out and buy it!
This book is amazing and a must have for all yogis and non yogis alike! It has the biggest collection of yoga poses that will keep your practice fun and full of variation. Comprehensive, educational and simply beautiful, this book is tailored to all levels of yogis from beginners to more advanced students. Dan is a fantastic mentor and yoga instructor, and a true master of his art. I am truly delighted to have been part of this project and to have had a chance to work with such an awesome and dedicated team. And being a regular student of his classes, I have learned far beyond any other class that I attended. Who knew yoga has such a huge variation of asanas! Who knew 2100 poses can be all brought together in one beautiful work of art! Starting from today, my goal as a yogini is to "hopefully" master them all!
This is a must for any serious yogi or yoga teacher. There are photos of SO many asanas. Great to flip through for inspiration. The one thing that I thought was a little odd - some of the yoginis are wearing tiny bikinis and basically underwear. Ummm....But I love how it tells you the chakras it works, the sanskrit and English names, how to modify (great for teachers or beginners), the type of pose, and the drishti.
This book is a great addition to anyone's library. It caters to yogis of all different levels within their practices. I like how the pose names are broken down because I've had yoga teachers say the names of the poses so quickly that you barely have time to process what they're actually saying! The pictures are great because it shows what your favourite poses are actually supposed to look like, and will help anyone further their practice. I never thought there were more than a few hundred yoga poses, to have 2,100 in one publication is a fantastic and beautiful collection to admire!
Great book that shows you in order easy yoga poses to more advanced yoga poses. The beggining of the book also has the history of yog aand the 8 limbs of yoga. Most people miss it...make sure you read it.
Wow! I'm a grandpa and I found enough yoga poses that were easy enough for me to do. Don't get intimidated by the size of the book and all the poses. Let your ego go and enjoy what you can do.
Daniel Lacerda has created a yoga tome that will stand the test of time. The volume includes skillful photography of his students, each masters of yoga, in poses from the basics to things you might not imagine possible. Sanskrit and translated names as well as Drishti points are listed alongside. As aptly stated, "There are enough postures to keep you busy for the rest of your life, so allow yourself to let go of ambition and enjoy the journey." I remain inspired.
Excellent pictures, I reference this book almost daily and have read it several times. I like how the book is broken up into types of poses, sitting, standing, core, inversions. It makes it easy to find what you are looking for quickly. They also offer photos of many variations of the same pose. Each pose has it's Sanskrit name, a modification, a drishti point, and the energetic chakras it's utilizing.
