Abducted by a band of renegade Scots, Highland gypsy Tasara Faas blackens her rescuer’s eye when the charming duke attempts to steal a kiss. Afterward, Tasara learns she’s the long-lost heiress Alexandra Atterberry and is expected to take her place among the elite society she’s always disdained.

Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt, promised his gravely ill mother he’d procure a wife by Christmastide, but intrigued by the feisty lass he saved in Scotland, he finds the haut ton ladies lacking. Spying Alexa at a London ball, he impulsively decides to make the knife-wielding gypsy his bride despite her aversion to him and her determination to return to the Highlands.

The adversary responsible for Alexa’s disappearance as a toddler still covets her fortune and joins forces with Harcourt’s arch nemesis. Amidst a series of suspicious misfortunes, Lucan endeavors to win Alexa’s love and expose the conspirators but only succeeds in reaffirming Alexa’s belief that she is inadequate to become his duchess.

Cameron makes the regency period fun to read about. She keeps with the times yet throws in a twist of her own via the actions and reactions of her characters. I love how this tale remains true to the time period while also being exciting & unique. The story goes from comical to heartbreaking, exciting to romantic. Cameron’s vivid storytelling brings it all to life in a big yet realistic way.

I enjoyed the extremes that we find in the characters. The varied personalities of the characters gave a community feel to the story while also making sure that there was someone for everyone to love. It was a whole lot of fun to get to know them all. The main characters definitely stand out in this story. The differences in their lives and the concerns that they have humanize them while seeing them come together makes them a couple that I simply fell in love with.

Once again Cameron has created a wildly romantic tale with a twist. This is a novel that I’d highly recommend to all those who enjoy a good regency romance.

I loved this well written book. Lucan, Duke of Harcourt, thinks he's helping to rescue a gypsy girl and her siblings only to later discover she's a missing heiress. Alexa, aka Tasara, has spent most of her life as a gypsy only to discover she was sent to them for her own protection.
Lucan needs a wife, Alexa needs protection, villains, lost family and romance! What more do you want? No plot spoilers from me. I think you'll enjoy this one very much. The best of the series but it is a stand alone book. Just a few crossover characters.

Who knew that being abducted by a band of renegade Scots would be the least of her concerns?

Highland gypsy Tasara, has no use for aristocrats. She especially doesn’t like the arrogant nobleman who rescued her and tried to steal a kiss in the process. No good can come from spending time with him—distractingly handsome though he may be. But everything changes when she learns she’s actually Alexandra Atterberry, a long-lost heiress. Now, she must take her proper place in a society she wants no part of, amidst jealous people who might very well be plotting her demise. Perhaps she has use for her roguish rescuer after all…

Lucan, Duke of Harcourt, promised his ailing mother he’d find a suitable wife by Christmas. But the feisty, knife-wielding Scottish Highland lass he rescued? Tasara isn’t at all suitable. However, she is everything he could ever want in a bride—and the simpering ladies of the haut ton pale in comparison. All he has to do is help Alexa overcome her aversion to the English, the nobility, and most of all, him.

With danger and intrigue plaguing their every move, can these two polar opposites find common ground on the road to happily ever after?

Will their different upbringing keep them apart ...

How fun, I have actually read the first and last in this series, yet now it is one at a time revisited and enhanced by the author, it is a perfect way to discover the other books.
Tasara / Alexa is an intriguing heroine, devoted to those she cares and quite fierce. And when she is thrown from one life style to another, she does not compromise. She will live her life by her own rules and refuses society’s dictates.
Harcourt is a kind and caring man, one who never abuse his power and position. Trying to live by his own code of honor, a code not so many of his peers adhere to.
As I am not found of too lusty or overwhelmed by their hormones characters, I appreciated that despite their instant attraction and their bodies’ reactions, weak knees and blank brain were not involved.
Harcourt is more than chivalrous, immediately proclaiming himself her knight, ready to defend her honor and name. And protect her he is ready by any mean, if only she would accept his suit.
Because in spite of their flagrant chemistry, Alexa wants more from life than a title and wealth, she wants to be able to help others without the ton’s strapping. Why Harcourt’s court is cut short, until he is able to convince her he would never clip her wings.
A lovely tale of be oneself and accepting other’s differences.

Series: Highland Heather Romancing A Scot #3
Publication Date: 11/25/20 (First published 12/2/15)
Number of Pages: 257

This is a lovely read and I can’t imagine how I managed to miss it the first time around. I cannot compare the two editions since I didn’t read the first one, but I understand the author has added a prologue and tweaked the story a bit to give it more depth and further develop the characters. The story is the same – just enhanced. It is well-written with lovely characters, a tight plot, and an endearing epilogue.

While in Scotland to visit a friend, Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt, assists in rescuing a beautiful young gypsy woman, Tasara Faas, and her siblings. This brave young woman had assisted Isobel, his friend’s sister, escape the same captivity – now they were returning the favor by invading the Blackhall's home and rescuing them. Lucan is immediately entranced by the woman – especially when she pulls a knife on him thinking he might be there to harm her and/or her siblings. Then – she socks him in the eye – OMGoodness – what an introduction.

Upon his return to England, Lucan discovers his mother has been gravely ill. He adores his mother and will do anything to keep her calm and happy – and to hopefully recover at least a little. That “anything” includes promising her he’ll marry by Christmas. He’s not ready to marry, but he’ll leg-shackle himself if it will help with his mother. His thoughts keep trailing back to that dark-haired, lavender eyed gypsy he helped rescue. Now, there was a woman he could happily marry – too bad a Duke cannot marry a gypsy.

After her rescue, Tasara had some shocking discoveries of her own – and it upended her entire life. She learns that she is NOT a gypsy, she is actually Alexandra (Alexa), Baroness of Atterberry. Her gypsy family found her, injured, wandering in the woods near where they were camped and took her in. She was only about 3 years old, but they knew she was of the aristocracy from the way she was dressed and spoke. Given the circumstances in which she was found, they knew she needed to be protected, so they raised her as their own. Until – matters happened which made it impossible to continue. Now, she has been banned from her Gypsy tribe and is in London with a new family. She knows her ‘new’ aunt and uncle love her and have spent years looking for her - but – she longs for Scotland and her simple life. As soon as she gets her inheritance, she’ll head back to Scotland.

When Lucan walked into a ballroom – in his search for a bride – and sees Tasara across the room – that is it for him. Right then and there, he knows he’s found his bride. Now, he just has to convince her of that. I absolutely adored Lucan and his steadfast determination to woo and win her. He never falters – and never takes no for an answer. He’s the most gallant, honorable, sweet, caring, and protective hero you could ask for.

There is, of course, a mystery and some villains thrown into the mix before these two can get to their HEA, but it is a delight to watch Lucan do whatever he has to do in order to protect Alexa. I could really feel their connection and had no doubt they’d come to love each other. I adored most of the secondary characters as well – all except the villains, of course. Alexa’s aunt, uncle, and cousins were delightful. Then, there is an unexpected hero toward the end, and I loved that as well.

I can definitely recommend this book – and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

***Revised Review for Updated Edition***

I read this book years ago when it was first released, but since then the author has added a prologue and tweaked the story. The story itself hasn’t changed, but the book now has more depth.
When Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt helps Tasara Faas, a young gypsy woman escape the Blackhalls, he is enchanted, but he can’t let himself fall for her, as he has promised his very ill mother that he will marry by Christmas and as lovely as she is, Tasara is not a suitable candidate for his duchess.

He tries to forget her, but can’t and is shocked and delighted to see her again in London – but now the truth of her past has been discovered and he learns that she is not a gypsy as she always believed, she is in fact Alexandra “Alexa”, Baroness Atterberry and her family hid her with the gypsies to protect her. This changes everything for Lucan and he sets out to convince her that she is this perfect match.

This was a well written, nicely paced story with wonderful characters. I loved liked Lucan in the previous books - but I loved him in this book. He is kind, honorable, clever and loyal. His devotion to Alexa was so sweet. And while I didn't agree with Alexa's constant rejection of Lucan’s proposals - I did understand her reasons and respected her for her determination. Throw in a well-done mystery, cameos from previous characters, warmish love scenes, some twists and shocking revelations and you have a really good story! I still feel like things wrapped up a bit too neatly, but the revised edition is worth a read, even if you read the original version. This is the third book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone title.

*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that I requested and was provided to me by the publisher.*

This was a new author for me. It is Book 3 in her Highland Heather Romancing a Scot Series, but it can also be read as a stand-alone. That is what I did. If you have not read the first two books, you will not have a problem starting with this one.

That being said, I really loved this book. It is a story about a girl who was raised believing that she was a gypsy only to have her life turned upside-down and changed forever. It is very well written and has a nice blend of intrigue, danger, romance and humor. It had great suspense. There were places in the book where I was on the edge of my seat. There were evil characters that you hope will get what's coming to them (you will have to read the book to find out if justice is served).

There were also a few places in the book where I laughed out loud. Collette is known for her injection of humor in her books, and her humor adds to the enjoyment of the story. The chemistry between the main characters is electric and the characters are well-developed, interesting and very likable.

With lots of action, romance and humor this book is a winner, hands-down! After reading this book and thoroughly enjoying it I fully intend to read the first two books in her series. This book is a must read for any Highland romance fan, and I highly recommend it.

Heartbreak and Honor⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ written by Collette Cameron
(Highland Heather Romancing a Scot #3)

Kidnapped by a band of Scots lead by Angus Blackhall, Tasara Fass, a gypsy, fearlessly protects her siblings LaLa and Gyorgy. She prays for their salvation and it finally arrives. The first to reach her is Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt. During her captivity she has been subject to numerous lecherous leer and gropes from her captors so when Lucan gives her a wink and tries to kiss her she hauls off and punches him.

It is when she is brought to safety that she is recognized with her shrinking resemblance to the Needham family. Bridgett Needham lost her niece 18 years earlier and desperately searched for her. After several inquires it is proven she is the missing heiress. She learns the gypsy parents where not her really parents and finds her world turn upside down.

I have read numerous books by Ms. Cameron but I truly feel this was her best. The narrative was so deep with mystery and subterfuge you could not stop reading. Her two main characters were so in tune with one another even after their rough start. I must commend her as a master storyteller. This book is a must read.

Tasara was raised by a band of traveling gypsies known as black tinkers. She and her brother and sister were captured by rebel Scots trying to get her tribe to fight for them. She helps another woman escape to find help. They are rescued by the Duke of Harcourt. Fascinated by her, he tries to steal a kiss only for her to sock him in the eye. The shiner lasts for weeks which means his friends and family are having a laugh at his expense, so you’d think he’d forget about her and look for a suitable wife from the list his sister made him. But he gets the shock of his life when he spots her at a ball, all dressed up and with the Needham family.
It turns out that Tasara is really a heiress Alexa. But it seems not everyone is rejoicing in her safe return. Her stepsister is set to inherit if Alexa wasn’t around, and a slime ball neighbor of Harcourt wants to ruin her. Can he keep her safe and convince her to be his Dutchess?
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone.

Lucan and Alexa. I loved this book. I was glad when Alexa left the highlands, because author's throwing in Scottish language irritates me. She was a strong characters, someone that you would want to be friends with. This book was full of intrigues as to Alexa's family background, someone trying to ruin Lucan's businesses, etc. I loved Lucan and Alexa together. He spent hours following a ball searching out heather, because he knew she loved it in the highlands. He said to her, "I'm of a mind that the length of acquaintance doesn't necessarily equate how well you know someone. I believe similar spirits recognize one another." Seriously, how could you not love him? The bad guys in this book were truly evil, not caricatures that you often find in novels. And I was so glad that Alexa didn't have any TSTL moments!!

I long for the Heather of the Highland

Once more Collette Cameron has taken me back to the land of my ancestors. I love the descriptions of the people and lands that fun through my mind when reading. Alexa and Harcourt have such a fun and sensual relationship. I am left with too many questions though and am off to the next book!

Another great story

A Scottish gypsy has been kidnapped alon with her little brother and sister by an evil band of Scots. She is rescued by a Duke and her father. He Ewan MacGregor finds something very familiar about the young lady and the father finally tells her she was found lost and beaten so he and his wife "adopted" her.

Heartbreak: Poor Tasara Faas. She was really put through the ringer in this story. Being abducted by the most nasty Highland scum that I've ever read about, the Blackhalls, should have really been the the true test of her strength. However, there was more in store for her, than she ever realized.

This is essentially a rags to riches story. Finding out about her real family and being kicked out of the gypsy camp, Tasara becomes Alexa. Along with a questionable Mother in Law and Uncle, all is not what it appears. Instead of welcoming said riches, Alexa is hesitant about her elevated status.

The true test of Alexa's strength is surviving the Beau Monde in London. Lecherous advances, bets placed against her honor, and cut directs, makes her experience complete.

Honor: Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt, saved Alexa from the Blackhalls and seems to come to her rescue from Society in London. However, Lucan has his own honor to uphold and that is the promise he made to his mother on her sickbed to marry before Christmas. After finding out about Alexa's/Tasara's relocation to London, Lucan sets himself on a course to woo and wed her. Ever a charming hero, the Duke of Harcourt is definitely a keeper.

My thoughts: This wouldn't be a Collette Cameron story without the humor and lovable characters. I always find myself smiling at the dialog, especially Alexa's inner monologue. I don't think I've read where a heroine swore so much! But it is so charming and hilarious.

The suspense does build up in the story and the nasty people do get what is coming to them, but I wish it wasn't so passive. After all that was done and the crimes committed, there should have been a bigger ending. Other than that, I did truly enjoy this story and am glad that it reached a HEA.

The saga continues with the 3rd installment of Ms. Cameron's Romancing a Scot Series...

Tasara Faas is not who she's always thought she was. After she and her Scottish Traveller siblings are rescued from a barbaric clan of Scots, the truth finally comes out and throws her life into mass of hurt feelings, suspicions, betrayal but also hope for a future she could never imagine.

Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt, is bewitched by the beautiful gypsy he helps rescue and though he's tried to forget her and in light of a promise made to his extremely ill mother to marry before Christmas, he cannot put her from his thoughts long enough to take his wife hunt seriously. No other lady compares to her so imagine his delighted surprise to see her in London, her real identity as a member of the aristocracy exposed but in question and she, his perfect Duchess. Now he just has to convince her.

Dangerous secrets from her past come to light and now he has to keep her safe or lose her forever.

I really liked this book. There's intrigue and humor. The pace of the story is good and I liked the character development and the H/h attraction is believable.

I did feel that the conclusion was a bit anti-climactic because there was no major confrontation with the villains or detailed explanation of the events from the past so it left me wanting more. I am hopeful that a few new characters get their story so am looking forward to more from this series.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Heartbreak and Honor is the third book in Ms. Cameron’s Highland Heather Romancing a Scott Series and the second I read in this series (the first one was Virtue and Valor).

What have we got here?
• A Highland gypsy who happens to be a long-lost heiress but is totally unaware of who she is
• A duke who must marry before Christmastide to honor his deathly ill mother’s wishes
• More gypsies, more members of the nobility...

That’s all very fine. Now, what more do you want?

• A black-eyed rescuer (poor duke, not quite what he was expecting)? You got it.
• A feisty heroine (more feisty than her, you die)? You got it.
• Some nasty villains with a black heart? You got it – quite a few of them, actually, and not necessarily low-born.

What else? Ah yes, action, suspense, humor, self-doubt, romance... you got it all. Oh, and I almost forgot – there’s even a Lyette (now, that is very nice. It’s not often that I encounter my name in a novel, not exactly written the way I write it, but still... it’s fun.  )

In a nutshell, a story worth reading and rereading. Well-written, well-researched, mighty entertaining. Kudos for this third installment in the series. Now, I have to get my act together and read the first one – can’t be helped, I’m curious to see if I will love it as much as I’ve loved the other two in this series.

Lucan, The Duke Harcourt, has always intrigued me as a character and have been dying to get my hands on his story and it did not disappoint.

What I love about Collette's stories is the inclusion of some action and suspense. There are always fun little twists that keep you guessing throughout the book and Heartbreak is no different.

When the book opens we meet Tasara (a Scottish gypse) who, with her siblings, is being held captive. She is rescued by Lucan and lest just say their first meeting is anything but cute (think fist and black eye).

Lucan is intrigued by Tasara but feels nothing can come of it since they are from two different worlds. Then Lucan is surprised to see Tasara is at a ball in London were he finds out she is the long lost heiress Alexa Attaberry. As he has never been able to forget this Alexa, he decides to make her his wife.

Alexa is still dealing with her new position in life and the mystery of her disappearance. Not everyone is happy to see her return and her life might be in danger. Alexa only trust Lucan and leans on him to help solve the mysteries surrounding her life. As Alexa nd Lucan get closer it becomes increasing harder for Alexa to fight her feelings.

The only thing that keeps me from giving a five star review is I felt the ending was a bit rushed. But overall another great Scottish romance book by Ms. Cameron.

Born and raised a Highland gypsy, a girl child who long ago disappeared. Now, many years later all that Tasara Faas thought she was – she wasn’t.
Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt, cannot get the vision of the beautiful Highland gypsy who blackened his eye out of his mind. But that is what he must do as he promised his dying mother he would wed by Christmastide. Imagine his surprise when he spies his gypsy lass in the ballrooms of London going by her rightful name – Alexandra Atterberry.
When forces again threatened Alexa’s life can Lucan protect her? Can he convince her of his love & her place by his side? Can a Highland gypsy become a lady of the ton? Does she really want to?
Collette Cameron writes a delicious, humor filled tale of intrigue & danger. As always be prepared for an entertaining ride as Ms. Cameron takes you into the world of her 3rd installment of her Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series. And remember – even though it’s part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone but don’t deprive yourself – read them all!!

#3 in the "Highland Heather Romancing a Scot" series, but can be read as a stand alone. Once again Ms Cameron has written a superb Regency Historical Romance which is fast paced, action packed, romantic with some mystery, suspense and many passionate moments. Can a Scottish/Gypsy lass and a English Duke find their HEA, after many struggles, danger, mystery and secrets.
I enjoy how Ms. Cameron pulls the reader into her stories, makes them feel a connection to the characters and keeps them guessing right up to the end. Nothing is cut and dry, nor a full drawn conclusion. Many twists and turns, with heartbreak, dishonesty, lies, secrets, untruths and finding one's true self, and true family when all the dust settles, can true love prevail?
Simply fantastic!! Another awesome read by Ms. Cameron. A must read. Highly recommended for fans of Historical romance, gypsies, Scots, tinkers, and just a fantastic read. Can't wait to see what's next.

From the first word until the last, this book kept me enthralled. Romance, suspense, murder and mayhem kept my attention. This is one of those books I wish did not have an ending. While many of the questions were answered, more arose that begs for an answer. Hopefully, Ms. Cameron will open a sequel with answers. Loved the book. However, due to some explicit language and sexual scenes, I recommend this book for more mature readers. I did think the sexual parts were handled tastefully.

Heartbreak and Honor has become one of my favorite Collette Cameron books. Once again, she has done a fabulous job of developing characters and a story line that draws you in as a reader and makes you part of the story. This time, we get to learn Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt's story. We have met him in her previous books, but this time it is his turn to find love. Of course, he finds it in an unlikely place.
Tasara, raised a Highland Gypsy, finds out she is really the long lost heiress Alexa Atterberry shortly after being rescued by the Duke of Harcourt. Both of them think they will never see each other again, but fate would have them meet again. Their story is full of twists, heartbreak, and humor. I loved every minute of it and as with all of Collette's books, was sad when the story ended.

I’ve been anticipating this release and Collette Cameron delivered. This story had some unexpected twists. The chemistry between Tasara and Harcourt was great. Tasara is a strong heroine who looks out for herself even while she is falling in love and she faces the challenges that come her way bravely. Harcourt is honorable and despite his privileged upbringing, defies Tasara’s expectations of a duke.

I enjoyed this book and recommended.
