She is haunted by the friendship with the young Scotsman and she is positive that she will never see him again.

Cathy MacRae brings you a heartfelt story that takes you back and forth from France that will finally end in Scotland. I really enjoyed the history that was in this story and of course the romance. I was a little shocked with a part of the ending and wanted to hit a character however it did end well. Ms. MacRae is superbly talented and knows exactly how much history to add to her stories. I really look forward to reading more books from this series.

This is a sweet romance between a Highlander soldier and a young French woman.
The Highlander has volunteered to fight in France against th British. He has been sent by his superior officer to buy supplies from the local farmers and finds himself very attracted to one farmer who can provide eggs,cheese and milk for his Captain's tab!e. A very interesting story with engaging characters.

I just really, really didn't get into this one. I found myself not caring what happened to either Kinnon or Melisende de la Roche. Maybe it was the time-jumping, maybe the relationship between the two really didn't develop for me, but I gave it a try & it didn't work. I'm not going to "not recommend" it because I know others who loved it, but it's not for me.

This is why I read romance
It's clear why Cathy MacRae is an award winning author. Finally, a story that wasn't predictable. Memorable characters that weren't sickeningly sweet or entirely despicable. Beautiful settings. Loveable animals. Just a great story that kept me flipping pages.

Melisende and Kinnon
There is a lot of war and strife separating these two lovers and I have to give props to Ms MacRea for her successful description of the atrocities and brutality brought about because of war.

This one was a little more retrospective than others,.

Great historical romance
This was a good book. I read the others and am so glad you gave Kinnon and Melisandre a story. Her sister gave them grief but they let love for each other win out.

not for me
This book although many highlights became tedious at best. It was listed as having 165 pages but became the longest pages I have ever read, was looking for a new author but I think I pass on this one

I love this series.
This book was about a journey to find love and happiness. I would have liked to see the main characters have more time together but nonetheless love persisted.

A different perspective, as it takes place in France instead of Scotland. It shows the horror of being caught between two warring factions and the devastation for civilians. The love story was second to the war story in this book, but still came through in the end.

THE HIGHLANDER’S FRENCH BRIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.
Told from third person point of view THE HIGHLANDER’S FRENCH BRIDE follows Kinnon Macrory onto the battlefields of France and into the lives of French sisters Melisende and her younger sister Lucienne. For weeks, Kinnon travelled to the sisters’s farm in search of food for himself and his men, but war soon came to the small village, and Melisende found herself trapped in town aiding the wounded and dying while her sister played nursemaid, back home, to an equally wounded Kinnon. When Kinnon is charged with treason and abandoning his post, Melisende and her sister become embroiled with the soldiers only to find themselves on the run with no place to go. Because the storyline traverses France and Scotland, we get a little bit of the Scottish brogue and the French language of love. Each of Cathy’s storylines features an animal or close pet. The premise is entertaining with a myriad of subplots and twists; the characters are colorful and animated-Lucienne’s personal story is heartbreaking and intense; Melisende and Kinnon’s life experiences add maturity and resolution; the $ex scenes are intimate but mostly implied. The romance and sexual tension between Melisende and Kinnon is sorely lacking due in part to the long separation throughout most of the storyline. I will add that the ‘long separation’ between leading characters is a regular feature of Cathy’s storylines.

Amazing
I've read all in this series and I can say I've enjoyed each and every one of them. It takes you for the most part to France, but is still about a Highlander Kinnon MacRory. This is his story, and one you won't want to put down.
