3,75 stars - English Ebook - I have dyslexia -
- we schould dig deeper, Black said finally and places his pas back down into the bed. There isn't enough information for us to blindly jump into this task. little read about a girl named Wendy who can hear and speak to cat's. She has her own one Black, and together they are detectives. Humorfull book, surtanly the phrases of Black. 🐈😁🌸😀🐈

A very quick read (for a fast reading adult). This seems to be aimed at YA audience but in comparison to what YA readers read I feel this better suits a younger crowd. Any solid self-reader 7 and up. Many were reading The Famous Five series at that age and I think those books are indeed a bit deeper than this.
It’s a cute concept. College student Wendy has a fluffy black cat (called Black) who share a college dorm room
Together. Black talks but only she can hear him. A series of kidnappings of business women are going on so off they go to play Detectives.
I guessed pretty early on the culprit despite a red herring thrown out there and nothing much happens in the book until close to the end. I think it would appeal to young readers who like animals and mystery.
I think the cat could of really been featured much stronger with more “cat like” thinking and behaviours. There is a strange moment when the cat is using scent trails for ages to find his owner and that’s a bit more dog than cat? In some things the cat “says” and “thinks” didn’t give me the impression of one who really know how cats behave. So much more could be done with that.
The Author has got a series featuring a pug, combining the two could be fun. She has a number of books published.
The writing is lacking in some parts with grammatical hiccups and sentences and paragraphs that are somewhat jerky. Other parts are written well (like the moment finding the culprit) which had some kick to it.
It’s a nice little tame read that could of really shined more with a bit of polish. I definitely think this is too simplistic for any YA readers. I’d recommend for younger readers. The book theme of Cat Detectives are frequent now and its competitive. Cozy mystery books are hugely popular no matter what features. They are not my thing but it’s part of book research I’m doing.
2.5 rounded up to 3 stars from me. Only for the 7-11 age group in my opinion. But others may love it. Cute but needed and could of had a lot more oomph added to it. Available on Kindle Unlimited.

This is advertised as a YA book but it reads more like a children's story. If it weren't for an occasional wrong form of word, I'd recommend it to budding Mystery readers.
It's a cute story. Wendy and her black cat, imaginatively named Black, set out to solve mysteries. It's part of a series of course. Wendy has the ability to hear cats talk so Black is able to help her with her cases.
I've scored it low because, quite honestly, not enough happens. There is no tension or feeling of danger at any point and the case isn't all that hard to solve.
In its favor I didn't see any typos and any story about a talking cat can't be all bad, but I won't be reading any more of the series as it's just too young for me.

Short, quick read, I think would be a great book for teenagers. Wendy and her cat black, who she can talk to, are looking into mysteries and have found one in their own neighborhood. I think most people will be able to solve the mystery of missing women before the end, but it fun to follow the author's story and be carried a long for a fun ride.

I don't know where to start with this book, it didn't feel like a mystery story at all, it felt like a child playing at being a detective. I had so many questions, and so many things were unexplained and unbelievable.
1) Initially the newspaper says that 'several' businesswomen have been kidnapped in the past weekend. But then, it turns out that there were only 2. 2 is not several. It also wasn't really explained how the connection between these two women's kidnappings had been made, just that they were both successful businesswomen.
2) Wendy drove me nuts moaning about waking up at 8:37, moaning about how many people are about, and moaning in general.
3) Wendy and Black decide to visit the places where the women were kidnapped, but how the hell do they know the exact locations? I very much doubt that was in the newspaper.
4) Black sniffing a bit and deciding that a man had lifted a heavy struggling load into a car right here. Really? 🙄
5) Keith is worried that his dad will be next! Er, his dad isn't a businesswoman.
6) Keith says his dad's business has picked up massively since these women were kidnapped. Er, in less than a week?
7) They look online at some list of the most successful businesses in the area, Keith's dad's business has moved up because of the women disappearing! Er, in less than a week?
8) People would prefer to go somewhere that is appropriately managed? Er, surely if these women are so successful, they have staff to the business for them? And, oh, yes, it's been less than a week!
9) Black says Keith's dad must be behind it! Wendy argues that he isn't, because she likes both Keith and his dad.
10) They hatch a plan! Wendy dresses in a suit, and puts her hair in a bun, and gets her make-up done, then walks past Keith's dad pretending to talk on the phone and tell someone that she's going to have the number one business 🙄🤦 Really????

11) Wendy is being followed! Her businesswoman disguise yesterday must have worked!! 😲😲😲
12) Wendy goes to do some washing, and gets kidnapped!
13) She's been kidnapped by Keith's step-mother 😲 she wants Keith's dad to buy her more stuff 😲 She wants to know why Wendy was dressed as a businesswoman yesterday! She threatens to kill her 😲
14) Black gets into the house through a hole in the wall, which takes him directly to Wendy, how convenient!
15) Wendy wiggles out of the ropes she's tied up with! How convenient!
16) We're free! Shall we call the police? No! Let's find the businesswomen and set them free 🙄
17) Wendy pulls at the door with the force of 10 men 😲 How?? Just how??
18) I know, lets run into the woods (which are awfully handy). Seriously? Find someone with a phone!
19) Wendy is all happy because she's a true detective 🙄. Having a freaking laugh. What a joke.

I wanted an easy and quick read but this really had me disappointed. A cozy mystery can be short, as well as a little on the paranormal side, yet still be well-written, full of realistic suspense, and edited for grammatical errors. The wording was awkward, at times, and the plot was full of holes. I don't mind the psychic communication with the cat, I went into the book knowing about this premise, there were just several other things that made the mystery unrealistic.
**Spoiler alert**
1. Coming across someone offering a free make-over just when she felt she needed one felt so forced. Instead she could have just been resourceful and gone to a make-up counter at the mall where the make-overs are always free.
2. The phone conversation she wanted to be overheard by her suspect was childish. No business executive would speak this way and why would a kidnapper just take the word of some stranger on the phone when there was a point made about the kidnap victims and their businesses being listed in a published and numbered list? How would the suspect even know that the stranger's business would even affect his positively if she disappeared? How did the suspect then communicate this to the real kidnapper so that the stranger could be found and followed?
3. The kidnapper seemed surprised the heroine was actually a college student and not a business women yet they followed her to a dorm and took her from the dorm laundry room.
I think this could have been a perfect cozy mystery with a little bit of the paranormal (talking cat) with tweaks to the plot and how it played out.

I read this book after the 1-5 Children’s Book series and I have to say: what a letdown.
I was hoping this book would pick up where the children’s series left off, even if it was a few years later. Unfortunately the story has been slightly changed and it’s not as fun to read.
Maybe if I had read this first, I would have enjoyed it more. Its a lot more darker and scarier. I do not recommend it for younger readers.
If you have read the children’s series, skip this one. Not worth the time or effort. If you have not read the previous series, this short story will be an enjoyable read.
Two stars.

Interesting and funny
This a very cute story about a girl and her wonderful day that she can really talk to plus the cat talks back to her the bonus is that they can understand each other. Great story. Have to love the cat.

It starts off weird because it appears they investigated other crimes before, and the protagonist is only 18. Black the cat is the main sleuth and tells her what to do.
I already knew when I picked it up that the cat was going to be the main character, but he seems to act like a strict boss and she just help him around without adding much. There were also several punctuation and grammar mistakes, the story doesn't really sound believable either and I don't mean the talking cat.

Cute little story but...
the grammar and sentence construction is very poor. The author needs to take some English classes. I would not recommend for younger readers for this reason and story is not strong enough for adult readers.

Cute short cozy about a young college student and her cat, Black, who are detectives on the side. Interestingly, the cat talks and she understands him and he also reads. Together they solve the mystery of kidnapped business women. Some editing needed.
