“Not all of me shall die…
So bring it bitches.”

Glyphs. The car, the weapons, they have glyphs. But, I didn’t know what kind. You see, when you describe to me how the wind was being felt, and I felt it mind you, my brain expected that these glyphs should also be describe to me as I have to picture their shapes and where they are located. I also have to know what ancient glyphs. I have read so many glyphs and what they are for, that I expected this book will set something for me that I don’t have to wonder and compare if it’s something like the one use in magic or sorcery.
Solomon sigils. I actually don’t know what that is. Sorry, but my brain don’t handle theory and history well. I also have a selective memory so whatever the book will give me, that’s all that my brain will focus on. I also don’t expect myself to google it because then I have to go online and it will disrupt my reading, so no-no. Well, I did google it and I understand it by the time I’ve read it but ask me now and you’ll only get a blank stare from me.
The Order. Who the eff are they anyway? Why were they mentioned throughout the book and I really don’t have any idea why the eff they matter. Yeah, it kinds of irks me when the characters in the book I’m reading know something that I don’t. Unless of course they were supposed to be unknown which is beside the point because as it turns out, they hold a great deal and importance to where the story is leading. I also expected to have a backstory of this people and why were they called that. I’ve patiently waited ‘til the end and its nada. Of course, what came to mind was The Priest movie, that one who had a kid but then had to give her up because he had committed his life to the order of killing vampires. But this is a world where it’s not only vampires that exist.
Traditional folklore. I don’t actually know what is traditional because my traditional wouldn’t be traditional to other people. A traditional also differs from book to book so I wanted the book to set the boundaries for me so that I didn’t have to question every decision and action and I didn’t have to second guess if the character was being obtuse or reckless. Also, what are the false and the true among the traditional folklore. What are tried and tested and how they even work in the first place. I actually expected that to be explain to me because when the fight scenes are in motion, I may have to decide if what the character did would kill a creature or if I have to expect something bloody and near death action.
The act of calling a demon. It was different and unusual for me. Again, me and boundaries. But since it wasn’t set out for me, I have different notions for it. I’m not sure if the language use was Latin or it was demon tongue. As I said, little details that my brain questions. Anyway, as far as I know, demon names are very powerful, and to know one is to hold power over one unless of course the demon tricked you and the situation was reversed. So yeah, also the way demons talk, I feel like there should be some play into it as they are malicious and deceiving. Just saying.
The romance. I feel like it was forced and it was so out of character for Gage and Adrienne. Or maybe because I wanted it to be Gage and Joey and that I’m bitter but it’s just that I didn’t feel it. It happened so fast I have to reread their encounter just so there was something I might have missed, maybe a secret glance or desire or lust indicating that that should happen but it was just so out of the blue. And then rationalizing that it should happen, nah, just no. Plus, I don’t like Adrienne’s character. I actually expected her to be killed way earlier in the book than that expected. She didn’t have that instinct, the one she should have considering how her life turned out to be. She was also mushy and she became dependent. How is she going to be a badass?
Multiple POVs. This is one of my pet peeve actually although sometimes I tolerate it because I know it’s essential to the story but sometimes I feel like there are just POV that I could skip reading and not care about knowing and it wouldn’t matter anyway. But then there’s just too many and I feel like I am overwhelmed to keep up with so many them.

There was a LOT going on throughout the whole book, almost no break. Along with that, the character POV sort of shifted within each chapter. For me, this meant there were times I treated this novel as more of a textbook, and I had to go back to reread details and almost study to be certain I was on the right storyline.
