The McClane Apocalypse #5

The McClane Apocalypse Book 5

Follow the next generation of the McClane family as they fight to overcome the nightmares of their pasts and press forward toward a new future together. As Paige struggles to fit in with the family, Simon must deal with his feelings for Samantha, feelings he would just as soon forget. With Cory's return, everyone fears that he will never recover from the loss of his little sister. Once again, the McClane family comes up against conflict and hardship in book five of the series. They will take on an unforeseen threat, welcome new people into their small town and discover potential betrayals within the community. Important new alliances are made, which will aid in securing and defending the family and their expanding town. Relationships are deepened while others are severed. And Reagan's courage will be tested as she must face her most difficult adversary yet.

I live on a small farm in Ohio where I tend a shabby garden, take care of my crazy horses and chickens and enjoy writing. Check out my website: www.katemorrisauthor.com for recipes from the book, my blog, articles and information about books two and three. Book Two out now.

I am the author of the new trilogy, The McClane Apocalypse. Books one and two are out now. Check them out on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or iBooks.

The McClane Apocalypse, Book One of the series. Follow the McClane family as they struggle to survive on their TN farm. Romantic suspense filled with hot Army Rangers and a broken and beautifully flawed female protagonist. Don't read chapter two if you need to be anywhere any time soon!

The McClane Apocalypse bk5

As always I am glued from beginning to end. I love the turn of events starting later in the book and can only imagine what will come in the next book. I am pretty sure it will break my heart a little. The new romances are are wonderful to follow and I can also see future issues coming from them. I hope that Sam will not befall anything else to horrible.

I savored every moment of the book. It was exciting and fun. What has dad been up to. Is he dying? Is there a war?. I look forward to the next book.

Book 5 is awesome!

I know I think it and say it but it’s true! Book 5 is my favourite one of the series. The strong depiction of family, the ups and downs of young love, the need for honest communication are all here and clear. And respect has to be earned but everyone deserves a level of courtesy unless it’s a gunfight!

Great series but the author appears to be recycling the earlier plot and love story with new characters. Could have been much better if the author had come up with original material for this book.

Good story but needs editing

Maybe it’s the English teacher in me, but a copy editor would be good for this book. Typos and wrong words (conscience/conscious)

This series just keeps getting better and more exciting. Yes it was left with a cliffhanger & how exciting is this? It will be a long wait to find out what happens in book 6. There are lots of little story lines going on right now. One of main story lines is : What will Gramps say to the group now that Robert and new family is back. What does Robert know about the government and what did Sam hear on radio? I think that the farm is the granddaughter's place to own for life..after all, they with their Husbands are the ones who have protected and made a go of life there for last 4 years - what right does Robert have over everyone after abandoning his daughters? is he sick and dying? What about the limp?
I love this series & I think it would be a good tv series as it reads like a script. I can't wait for the book #6--it will be a long wait.

I read all 5 books and will finish the series as it comes out.

I believe though that this series appeals more to women than men. Too much repetition of the same relationship issues over and over for most men to sit through. Each potential couple has the same issues (does he like me, not like me, etc) and it goes on for wwwaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too long unti finally they get to it. That I don't like. Also, the stories are a bit slow paced, with some exciting bits thrown in from time to time.

All that said, characters are very well done, likable and interesting. Story line and basic WTHSHTF premise is unique.

So, overall I like the series, but I probably have paged through more than half of it without reading it.

I will keep going though.

Characters - 5 stars
Interesting story - 5 stars
Overdone relationship jibber jabber - 2 stars
Prepper stuff - 4 stars

Still loving the series

As the story continues, I find myself enjoying the next generation on the McClain farm. I really like that the books continue letting us in on the lives of the original characters while at the same time allowing us to get to know the next group as they grow and mature in the new world they live in. Old enough to remember life as it was, but coming of age in the world as it is now. Choices are so much different now, and the struggle between good and bad; right and wrong are much more basic now. I would prefer a little less colorful language, but am still enjoying the series.

Excellent read! This is the 5th in the series. Book 6 is due out soon and I will be at the door waiting.
I have enjoyed this series more than anything I have read in many years. It is set in the not so distance future after an EMP wipes out the way of life as we know it in the United States. The rest of the world has fared no better, in fact most of the world is worse.
The series actually starts before the world's problems and by book 5 we are with the next generation of survivors. I suspect that book 6 will take us into yet another generation.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for Book 6. Book 5 really left us with several cliff hangers! I've loved following the trials and tribulations of this family and wish the story could go on and on! I love post apocalyptic fiction (?) but so much of it is written to appeal mainly to males with the detail of weaponry and war strategy. It's been fun to read a series with a more feminine twist! Thanks Kate :)

This is an outstanding series that has gotten better and better with each book. The author has created a strong, believable story full of outstanding three dimensional characters who I have become very attached to. This is a series that transcends it genre, and is just great fiction. I am looking forward to book 6 and hope that the series never ends! I rated it 4.33.

Loved it!!!

I'm already waiting for the next one. This was definitely one of the best ones. The character development on the younger generation of the McClane family is well done. I love how it moves on to the next generation without losing the roots. Well done!

Looking forward

I have enjoyed this series very much. This particular book lacked action that the previous series had and took longer to get through. Very encouraged by the author keeping the series moving along. Thought it was finished after #3.
