Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. 3 Ipanema Love Stars * * *

Two people who otherwise would never meet, do on holiday for completely different reasons.

He is in the entertainment industry... and is having his share of scrutiny...Best friend plus his current girlfriend...together...and Oh, in the hit reality series he produces and writes.... How to get away from all the press and attention... go to Brazil.

She is a mild mannered math school teacher... at least that was her life... with every thing adding up to fine...fine job, fine boyfriend for years... just fine...

Well, maybe fine isn't enough any more...A crazy out of the box trip to Brazil will give her a new boost after finishing up with that fine relationship going no where...

It is this two people, so different yet the same in need...Hit with the "smack in your face attraction" turning to something more...Lust first and then the realization of this could really be it...that thing all the movies, music and books go on and on about... love...

This had some hiccups in story flow but once it got started and the characters became more clear... it moved along. The scene stealing character through out was Brazil.

If you like to travel from your chair and experience it with a touch of romance too, then this could be for you.

Every now and then, you pick up a book by a new author and something about it – the characters, the setting, the plot – whatever it is – grabs you and doesn’t let go. When this happens you know that you’ve hit book gold. That’s the way I felt within the first few pages of this story.

High school math teacher Julia has always played it safe, but for once in her life, she’s going to do something daring, starting with a one week trip over Christmas to Brazil. Ending up at a hostel in rural Brazil, she meets Blake, a handsome Australian, who has run from a scandal back home and is seeing South America, one country at a time. While their paths are only meant to overlap for a night, their instant connection becomes a one night stand that becomes more, when Blake decides to ditch his plan and stay with Julia, first at the hostel, then on to Rio where they spend the rest of an incredible week together. But when the New Year dawns and it’s time for Julia to return home, reality comes back into focus – will they be able to take what they’ve built and make it stronger or will it all remain a vacation fantasy?

What a fun, sexy story! The setting is idyllic, first with the beautiful location in Brazil, both where the hostel is located and then in the cosmopolitan city of Rio. As an armchair traveler, I love to read about warm, sunny locations and this one is obviously well researched, from the food to the clothing, to the customs and the beautiful vistas. You are immersed in the culture of Brazil right from the start and it certainly sets the mood for the vacation fling that starts when Julia and Blake first meet and realize that they can be whomever they want, and in fact they can be wholly themselves, without judgement or expectation. They have a sizzling sexual chemistry, and at first that’s what it is all about – the chance, especially for Julia, to indulge herself in something that she’d never do at home. Their sex scenes are super hot as Julia loses her inhibitions, trusting Blake to provide what she needs. Blake comes across as a playboy type, but definitely still a respectful guy, a loyal friend and a generous lover. The scandal that pushed him to travel is known by some of the others at the hostel, but here he can still just be a guy on vacation, someone with a travelling plan that up to now hasn’t been in jeopardy until it all gets thrown by the wayside when Julia enters his life. And just like his plans get jumbled up, so too does their time together have its ups and downs. Blake is wary of getting more involved in anything than a sexual relationship. And Julia is protective of her heart as well – she knows whatever is between them is going to be short-lived, and takes each hour, and each day as it comes. They do spend the week together and during that time, they both begin to fall in love with each other as they open up about their pasts, including why Blake is on this journey. But that’s not enough to change their future paths. I loved how the story unfolded (and seriously, the sexy times in this book were smoking up my ereader!) but besides their obvious sexual compatibility, it’s a story about trust and companionship and taking risks. We get an eventual happy ever after, and it’s well deserved. This was a sexy, entertaining story, the kind where you want to flip the pages faster to see what’s going to happen, but then you don’t want it to end! 5 stars for one of my favourite reads of 2015.

She stepped toward the pool, tall and lithe against him, and he wanted to kiss her right then. But still he hesitated, prolonging the moment to make sure she wanted it as much as he did. His desire was obvious, and if she moved another inch closer, she would feel it press against her thigh. She knew what he wanted, and this time she hadn’t backed away. But he could sense her nervousness, some kind of conflict below the surface of what she let him see.
Blake knew all the signs pointed to yes, but he didn’t want it to just be yes. He wanted more than that. He wanted her enthusiasm to build until everything in her was screaming for him. Until there was no fucking way she could contain herself anymore.
He liked to be in control, but he didn’t just want to take her. He wanted to be taken, too.

Julia is a high school math teacher and during holiday break, she takes a vacation by herself to Brazil. She recently got out of an 8 year relationship with a safe guy and there is a lot in life she hasn't experienced. When she checks into her hostel, she meets Blake. Blake is on a extended vacation from Australia where he is a writer for a television show. He caught his girlfriend cheating on him with his best friend and they happen to be the actors for his hit tv show. He needed to get away and plans on being free and enjoying his trip. He didn't plan to meet Julia and find a connection with her but as much as he pushes his feelings away, he can't fight what is meant to be.

I really enjoyed this story. Blake and Julia had really hot chemistry which provided some super steamy scenes in this book. I only have a few tiny complaints but overall I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Rebecca Brooks is a new author to me. And I am so glad I stumbled across How to Fall by her. This book just clicked with me. I loved the story, characters, setting... it all just worked for me.

Julia Evans needs a break from her life. She puts to much of herself into her work and making sure her best friend is okay (all for the sacrifice of herself). She needs to discover what she wants out of life. So she does the first impulsive thing for just herself: books a week trip to Brazil. She can be anyone she wants amongst strangers... But she may just discover herself.

Blake Williams is running from his life. After a (very) public breakup with his ex, Blake decides to take an extended vacation. Brazil is just a stop on travels and is intending to head to Argentina when Julia walks into the hostel where he is staying, but all his intentions go out the window when he sees her.

They decide to spend the week together and enjoy each other's company and experience all the Brazil has to offer. But after the week is up will they be able to trust their feelings and the realities of their "real" lives or will they just go their separate ways...?

How to Fall is a story about learning to trust your instincts and taking risks. Loved it!!

I will never look at a swimming pool in the same way….

Have you ever felt like escaping your life for a while—for a day, for a week—and doing something extraordinarily different? Doing something that you wouldn’t normally do? Julia Evans is doing just that as she escapes the snowy city to vacation for an entire week in beautiful Brazil. She had a plan to not have a plan, to do whatever she felt like in the moment. Little did she know that would be Blake Williams…

Struck by his accent and his striking pose in board shorts, stumbling across Blake in her sun-soaked vacation provided more adventure and ‘out of her comfort zone’ moments than she could have hoped for. Would she be ready, and able, to give him up at the end of the week?

After a bit of a slow start, this story seemed to snowball in a panty-melting, emotion-filled romance that read way too quickly. Alternating between both Julia and Blake’s points of view, their inner thoughts made each encounter more intense and emotional. I thought, at first, this might be fluffy and fun read—and it is—but it turned into that and so much more. They each are struggling to find their true place as they come to a crossroads, whether hitting the big 3-0 or suffering a life crisis.

Whether having deeper conversations, lighthearted moments, or giving in to the attraction they both feel (oh, the pool scene… sigh… that pool scene) each encounter is deliciously painted with humor, emotion or laughter. And sometimes a tantalizing combination of all three.

“That’s why you were so amazing last night.”
“Because I’m a writer?”….
“You’re in porn.”

Secrets are revealed and questionable decisions are made but at the end of the day they both dig deeper to reach for what they really want out of life. Loved it! ~ Diane, 4 stars

Adored this book. Loved all the characters, especially Blake. The writing was very well done and extremely descriptive which gave me the feeling of being in Brazil with them. It has a great pace too. No points of dragging things out. The action and story begin right from the first page and keeps your attention to the very end. Definitely one I recommend for everyone.

For Julia being sensible is second nature. She always puts others first and never lets herself go. After many years of taking care of her best friend and looking after her math students it's time she does something for herself, she deserves a holiday and Brazil is her destination. In Brazil she can be who she wants to be and for Julia that means she can spend time with a handsome man, dare herself to do things she'd never do at home and make impulsive decisions.

Blake has left Australia because he's heartbroken. He's famous and hopes that after spending some time abroad people will have forgotten about the scandal he was in the middle of. When he meets Julia he starts to feel something positive again, but can he risk it? He's only supposed to have one night with the beautiful woman from Chicago, but something about her makes him want to stay until it's time for her to go home again. Is what they have a holiday fling or is there something more and what will happen when Julia has to leave?

How to Fall is a great sexy story about traveling, true love and facing your fears. Julia is a fantastic friend, she's sweet, caring, generous and she'll always do the right thing. In Brazil she can finally let herself go a little, which shows a completely different side of her. I loved the contrast and it was good to see she could have fun as well. Blake has been through a lot and spending time with Julia, being reminded what it's like to be carefree again, is exactly what he needs. They have an instant connection and there's a lot of chemistry between them. Meeting someone you really like when you're a long way from home is complicated though and I couldn't wait to see where that would lead.

Rebecca Brooks has written a hot story filled with personal challenges, stunning settings and fascinating relationships. I loved the way she describes Julia's holiday. It's short, but it's filled with action and challenges. I read this amazing love story in one sitting and liked how the sparks between the main characters fly off the pages. How to Fall is a wonderful romantic book with a gorgeous fitting ending.

I could not put this down. I think it was Blake’s journey and self discovery that kept me in the moment more than anything. He drew me in. His pain, his confusion, his journey to figuring out himself and what he wants. His loss and loss of identity was so heartwarming and heartbreaking.

this is my first time reading Rebecca Brooks and I can say I look forward to her next book. The writing is flirtatious and insightful. We see perspectives that draw on introspection. Details that allow you to picture the scene and moment. A romance that is denied and fought but not because the feelings aren’t there but because of fear. Fear and being at a loss of what to do and who you are.

Each character gives you insight into not only themselves but the others around them. We go on a journey that is fun and addictive. At times sexy, sensual and others flirty and fun. Each adventure has Blake and Julia shed a piece of the past and help create who they truly are. Each fall off the cliff helps them let go and be free to explore and experience life without restraints or fear. The fear they hold onto is one of not wanting to get hurt. For blake the story slowly reveals why this is. For Julia we see that she has a rough journey of self discovery and love. it is her time with Blake that helps her free herself from the chains of expectation and fears. He is her rock and support. He helps her get to where she needs to be and gives her the freedom to get there on her own even when he is there with her. Julia sees that her friends past shouldn’t hinder her from being her. That she needs to grow and fly and let someone in. That someone is Blake.

Blake is sweet, kind and generous. Lost though. He goes on a journey to get away from the present and figure things out. As he is trying to forget, Julia comes into his world and turns it upside down. They go on this amazing ride. She helps him see that trying to work things out that are hard and communicating with the one you love is worth it. She has him see that he is worth it. That being happy and loyal to your friends is a amazing and precious gift one to treasure and want.

there Brazilian journey is full of flirting, fun times and sexy smexy moments. Laughter and smiles along the way as well as they figure out how to break free from the mold they have created for themselves and fall in love. A wonderful journey of self discovery and finding your soul love that will have you love each character and the adventure they have. A book that you will not be able to put down as you explore Brazil with Julia and Blake and feel you are there with them through the incredible descriptive writing. A love story you root for because they are worth it and deserve to have someone in their life and you hope that it is a soul love that blake and Julia have for each other. Truly a treat to read and a gift as well as you see these two go on one incredible amazing journey.

Julia is a high school math teacher and during holiday break, she takes a vacation by herself to Brazil. She just has ended a 8 yr. relationship and feels like she is at loose ends with a guy and the relationship that just ended was not heartbreaking, it was just comfortable. She ends up going to Brazil to try to experience life. There she meets Blake-he is there on an extended vacation from Australia. As I read the story, I find out that he has caught his girlfriend cheating on him with his best friend. I learn he is a writer for a TV show down under and his ex girlfriend and best friend happen to be the actors for the hit tv show. He left that and them behind to try and recover and just unwind from the stress. He didn’t expect to meet Julia and have this instant connection but he did and she did. They tried to fight their feelings but it was fate and they truly connected. At the end of the New Year , when it is time for Julia to go home, will he ask her to stay or will he go home with her? Of was it all a vacation dream…
Let me say this , there were stops and starts in this story and I found I really did like this story and found it believable but there was a point that I found it unbelievable and found it sad and where it dragged on and it could have been resolved a lot sooner but it wasn’t. Also, there needed to be some sort of epilogue to tell us how the MC were doing. So for that, I brought my rating down-what could have been a 4 or even higher down to what my rating is. Julia is a warm woman who is spunky and deserved to be treated with more respect than she was toward the end of the book. As for Blake, I understand how he felt; he was a smart man and he was handsome but at times, I think he needed to be more understanding of feelings. Other than that, this was a good story and the background setting of Brazil was awesome and the writer wrote it in the book so beautifully .

My rating: 3.5 stars ***

I received a copy of How to fall by Rebecca Brooks in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautiful romance. There is an excellent spark between Blake and Julia that kept the book moving at a believable rate and had me wishing for their HEA right from the start. What I really adored though was Blake's character development and how much you can grow to love a person and learn to admit you were wrong. It's a fantastic message to have in a book and it's mixed in with this sizzling chemistry.
Rebecca Brooks had me actually on the edge of my seat wondering if Blake and Julia would have an ending together or whether their relationship was a way of letting them grow as people. I do really wish that there was an epilogue but that is only because i didn't want the story to end. A really lovely read and i can't wait to see what Rebecca brings out next.

How to Fall is my first book by Rebecca Brooks, but I was really drawn in with the blurb for this book. Unfortunately, I really struggled to get through this book. I had a lot of issues here, even though there were some things that I did like. Ultimately though, this book just wasn't for me though I did at least finish it.

Looking to escape for a week, Julia Evans leaves her life behind and heads to Brazil by herself. She is ready to put herself first for a change, leaving behind the others that she is always putting first. So when she meets a sexy stranger, she decides to take a chance and act a little impulsively for once. Blake Williams is also looking to escape his life and troubles and is about ready to head to the next stop in his months long traveling tour. But when he meets Julia, he can't help but be drawn to her and decides to stay longer than expected. But Blake and Julia know that they only have a week together before she returns home, and neither one of them has told each other everything.

Blake and Julia were really hard to relate to for me. It wasn't that I disliked them, I just didn't really like them either. I wasn't invested in their story or their relationship, and honestly I never did really care about where they ended up. These two did have great chemistry though, and I liked seeing them explore Brazil together. But I just felt like both of them handled things wrong, and their week together was filled with unnecessary drama and snap decisions that would instantly be glossed over.

This story started off rough for me as well, with Julia arriving in Brazil instantly with no set-up and being thrust into this group of characters right off the bat. I felt like I was playing catch-up to a story already in progress and that I had missed a few things. As rushed as this one was at the beginning, there were spots that were extremely slow throughout and I hated how much it would drag. Honestly I got bored a lot, and with me not being invested in the book I really forced myself to continue at times. Had I not been given a copy and reviewing this one, I probably would have just thrown in the towel. Then the ending was rushed and to me wasn't that satisfying. Yes we do get a resolution, but it really wasn't much of one. Things were tied up too quickly and we really didn't get much in the way of how things would work out. It felt more like a happy for now ending than a HEA. This book was just a miss for me, and I don't know that I would recommend it. If you like travel romance stories, this one might be worth giving a shot. Brazil was beautifully shown through the author's words here, I just wish the story had been as good to go with it.

Julia and Blake are two characters who have lives waiting for them in their respective countries--the United States for Julia and Australia for Blake--and the need to get away from it all is what has led them to be on a new continent and their paths crossing. Brazil is merely where their journeys intersect, a backdrop of sorts, because what leads them to contemplate the state of their minds and hearts is when they actually meet and become immersed in one another. Even as they try to escape what's going on back home, reality has a way of making its presence felt no matter how far away you try to distance yourself from everything.

Aside from Julia and Blake, the supporting cast of characters, particularly their travel companions--Jamie and Chris, an Aussie couple, and Lukas, a Dutch photographer--play an important role to the main characters' story. There are parallels that one can't help but notice between what Blake experienced in his own past relationship and what Julia believes is happening within the triumvirate of Jamie, Chris, and Lukas. How what happens to these three affects Blake and Julia's own relationship was interesting to read about and it goes to show what kind of gift the author has when it comes to telling one well-conceived tale.

There were so quite a few things I appreciated about this book, one of which was how the story as a whole played out and how everything was weaved together. Then you have two complex main characters who have something missing in their lives and find it in each other, but aren't fully capable of handling the discovery, therefore leading them to make ill-conceived choices. This is the kind of book that you can't help but fall in love with--from the story to the characters, it's a cut above the norm and a read I would highly recommend to fellow readers of contemporary romances. How to Fall is five-plus-star must-read. ♥

Julia is a high school math teacher who lives for everyone but herself. She needs a break and decides to take a week vacation by herself to Brazil during school's winter break.
Blake is a writer of a very popular television show in Australia. He is on an extended vacation running from a scandal caused by two people who were supposed to love him the most.
The two meet when Julia checks into a hostel where Blake is staying. The two are attracted to each other immediately and have off the charts chemistry. After one scorching night together Blake knows he is not ready to say goodbye to Julia and decides to change his plans and travel with Julia.
As Julia's vacation comes closer to ending both are struggling with their feelings and what is going to happen between them when it is time for Julia to leave.
This is a light, sexy read set in a sexy, exotic location. It is about two people who are struggling with who they are and who they want to be. Also with finding that once you have been hurt it is ok to still trust others.
This is the first book I have read from Rebecca Brooks and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is well written and the characters are well developed. I am looking forward to more from Rebecca!

I absolutely loved this "fling to forever" read and wanted to crawl inside the book and live as Julia for a week.

Rebecca creates a compelling story and relatable characters.

Blake is a HOT, and SEXY Aussie looking to get away from a scandal at home and Julia has just entered her thirties, and wants a little adventure in her life before she returns to her mundane daily routine. I was able to put myself into Julia's shoes from the very beginning - from her age, to her personality, and general thoughts and feelings.

The relationship between Julia and Blake was perfect. It wasn't forced and it never felt unrealistic. Rebecca keeps you wondering the entire time whether they will or won't end up with a happily ever after, and at one point, I was just as convinced as Julia and Blake were that after a week it would be over.

I was nervous about how the ending would go - will it be to fast? will it be to unbelievable - but Rebecca wrapped it all up in a beautiful believable bow. There was no cliff hanger and a touching HEA.

I definitely recommend this exhilarating LUST filled read!! I may never look at a waterfall the same way again :)

How to Fall was my first book by Rebecca Brooks, and I liked it. I loved the chemistry between Blake and Julia and liked the storyline. This is a fast-paced, sexy read that takes us on a road trip with a hot guy and sassy girl. My main issue with the book was I felt that Julia and Blake were a little older than I expected them to be. This isn't a New Adult story. Which, typing this makes me feel ridiculous in a way since I don't think young people should be going out on their own to Brazil for a hook up, but you know what I mean. That's what happens so much in NA now that it surprises me when adults--math teachers at that--don't have their shit together. ;) With that being said, I did like the book and think New Adult fans will enjoy it as well.

This was a great story. Blake and Julia have both been hurt by past relationships so they both decide to take a trip across the county to South America. Julia only has a week to experience things, Blake decides to take 7 months to explore. When Blake and Julia have there first meeting there is serious fireworks between the two. Julia takes a leap of faith and has a fling with him. That week ends up being a life changer for both of them and an eye opener. Once that week is over, what happens. They never expected life to take the course it did. This was a deep read but still very enjoyable. Honest review in exchange for ARC.

Rebecca Brooks does it again with HOW TO FALL. Her description of setting and character is vivid without being distracting. I wish I was better at reviewing so I could express more clearly how much I enjoyed the read, but here's a hint: I raced for my e-reader the minute I received the notification my pre-order had arrived and I didn't put it down until I was through. The characters are relatable, I wanted to be in Brazil with them to have a beer, too. My favorite authors write characters that you'd want to be friends with, that you'd want to hang out with, and Rebecca does that in spectacular fashion. You won't be disappointed.

How to Fall is a beautiful romance full of passion and adventure. Julia is a wonderful character, willing herself to take a chance and experience life in a way she never has before. Blake is strong yet a little fragile as he tries to get over the pain caused by people he loved who betrayed him. When Blake and Julia come together it's pure magic. Great writing and vivid details about Brazil make this story come alive. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t get past Chapter 3. There’s no real rhyme or reason why. I’ve read a number of the author’s other books. This one just couldn’t hold my attention. And at the end of the day, it felt like torture to continue. So this will stay on a Never Completed shelf.

“How could anyone feel instantly connected to someone? Suddenly, she believed Liz, sometimes, you knew.”

----

1st, I love how Brazil was described in this story. It sounded like the place was so romantic that made me want to visit the place soon. I can't help but think of Brazil as a very romantic place. And there are some spoilers ahead.

And thank you, Netgalley and Entangled for providing an Advanced Reader’s Copy (ARC) of How to Fall in exchange of an honest review.

Julia Evans is a high school math teacher. She is a girl with a plan and she always plan to put others first before herself. At first, I’m really having a hard time understanding her situation but I came to realize that she’s one of those people who are selfless. It wasn’t emphasized on the story itself, but indeed, she is. She always considers the welfare of others before thinking of her own.
Blake Williams is one hot-shot writer and producer. He’s from Australia and he’s having an escapade out of the real world. Being in the show business industry, he, of course isn’t safe from issues. He had some relationship issues because his best friend was winding up with her girlfriend and it was way too painful, a valid excuse escaping from the real world.
So, apparently, they’re two different people, from two different countries with different personalities. Julia is having some quality time with herself and Blake was trying to escape from everything not knowing that they will cross each other’s path in Brazil and will spend a week to remember.

----

Okay, the book was amazing. I love the way how it was written however there are some parts of it that I didn’t like. 1st, I had a hard time trying to get into the story especially in Julia’s case. There are some parts in the book that are supposedly interesting but it just created a bit of confusion on my part since I didn’t know what on earth happened to Julia. There are times that I wanted to put the book in my did-not-finish shelf because I can’t really get into the story but I guess it was too soon to do so and maybe I’ll be able to understand the story more as I progress, and luckily, I did.

My 2nd issue was the physical attraction between the two, it wasn’t clearly love at first sight, I guess it was more like lust at first sight since Blake and Julia were physically attracted with each other and it definitely lead to some ‘it-is-getting-hot-in-here scenes'.

And lastly, I hate how fickle Blake had been especially when they were about to go their separate ways when Julia decided to go to Rio and Blake will go to Sao Paulo. He acted like a jerk towards Julia and I can’t get why, I mean she doesn’t deserve that kind of indifference.
----
I love their tour in Rio, though. The adventures they’ve done together, all of those are so heartwarming especially so that they’ve tried to reach out with each other by sharing bits of details about their past prior to their unplanned meeting. It helped them to know each other.

I also enjoy the flow of the story especially on the 2nd half of the story. There are amazing supporting characters that made the whole book interesting.

All in all, in the way I understood the story, this talk about love, of course, relaxing and spending time with you isn’t bad at all, having a brief escape can be amazing. This story shows that love doesn’t depend on how long you know someone, when you fall, you fall and you can’t do anything about it. Despite of how short they know each other, they fell in love in what? 1 week? Yes, 1 week because when two people are meant to be together, they will be together. When you know, you know. It also talks about taking the beauty of taking risk, as other people say, forget the risk and take the fall if it’s meant to be, then it is worth it all.

---

I enjoyed this book, so much. Though there are some issues on the book, it was worth reading. A perfect read for those who love to travel. This will make you add Brazil on your bucket list.

PS: I love Liz, so much. It's sad because she wasn't given so much attention in the book, and I also love Blake's friends.

You can find love when you least expect it, especially when you’re not looking for it. How to Fall by Rebecca Brooks gives us one heck of an adventure laced with romance and steam and the beautiful Brazil as the backdrop of the story – nothing makes it more perfect.

It’s a perfect book for those who have the penchant for travelling. Her words would make you see Brazil vividly, and the places our characters had visited. It’s one tempting book that would amp your itch to go see this beautiful country.

Nevertheless, what could happen in a week? You can go to different places, meet new friends, try different things, have great sex, or if you get lucky: fall in love.

Julia Evans never really expected anything, she was just out to enjoy herself and have some fun. After putting others over her needs, it was time for her to put herself ahead of others, even just for a week. What she didn’t expect was to meet Blake Williams.

Screenwriter Blake Williams was running away from his scandalous life. He just wanted some peace and quiet and some time to nurse his broken heart. But here comes the dark-haired beauty, Julia who set him off his axis and made him want to take some chance.

Would a week be enough? Or would they take a chance on them?

I adore the characters. I love the fact that Julia went out of her comfort zone, and Blake was finally brave enough to risk his heart. They may have some frustrating moments in between the scenarios, but then I was glad everything worked out in the end for them. Ah Blake, that was one heck of a grand gesture. Simple, but meaningful. It was a great adventure and I had so much time reading it – it was like experiencing it myself. The beauty and excitement Brazil has to offer.

Holiday/vacation one night stand turned weeklong fling and then something much more special

How to Fall was my first book by Rebecca Brooks and I have to admit this book surprised me with how much I loved it; I liked the sound of the blurb but it ended up being so much more than expected. The book incorporated a romance theme of a holiday/vacation one night stand turned weeklong fling and then something much more special between two intriguing and realistically flawed characters who really draw you in to their story, although I do admit you have to be open to instant attraction to fully enjoy this.

Blake, an Australian TV writer, and Julia, an American high school maths teacher, have an incredible instant attraction as these two slightly mature and likeable opposite characters find their paths crossing in the most remote and unlikeliest of places, given their homes and careers that are thousands of miles apart. Their instant attraction and planned one night stand turns into something a whole lot more but is steadily built up in a way that while it is all mostly only taking place over a week, it feels realistic in terms of pacing, given the temporary circumstances of their relationship. Things get steamy quickly and fairly often in some rather unique public surroundings as these two struggle to fight their undeniable chemistry with each other. The feelings and emotions of both Julia and Blake are clearly explored through the dual views, adding a complexity to the characters that the reader can empathise with.

How to Fall is very well written with a great flow and strong plot. While the majority of the book is fast paced taking place over a week in Brazil, the later part of the book which skips forward some time allows the initial development to be solidified before a HEA ending can be found. The descriptions of everything were very vivid and clear, allowing the reader to visualise clearly everything that was playing out in the book but without the descriptions ever being too detailed that you get bored of reading. How to Fall can be read as a standalone with no cliffhangers as Julia and Blake’s romance is tied up in the HEA.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to any romance fans out there.
