Just okay

I caught these books as a set and a free read on amazon. I usually find good authors this way. The story line was good. That is what kept me reading this book. The main leading female was supposed to be a great detective but she sure was stupid and couldn't figure things out. She was a better trainer than a detective. The writing was okay but way too easy to read and lengthy descriptions. I found myself skimming through.

Author should have left it at book 1

I have only read one other book i disliked more than this series. It was hard to tell whether the author was writing romance novel, mystery or si-fi.
The detective was unbelievable. She doubted herself constantly. The "side stories" made a weird story even worse. If author has concluded it with just one book, it would be passable. 4, nope!

Interesting tale.

Not a bad read, but repetitive & long winded in places. Have read stronger stories on a similar theme. Wouldn't want to read anymore with these characters.
Book one was okay, but quality deteriorated as set continued.

Currently I’m reading Girl Undercover (Part One), written by Julia Derek. This novel is very straight to the point as you can tell from the title; it’s a really good book if you enjoy reading about mysteries and crimes. The main character Gabi is very determined person, she never gives up no matter the circumstances. Finding out her husband was murdered had an serve impact on her life but she knew it was her duty to find the person who did it. The story line is very long, since it explains her journey word for word.
Gabi was in love with her husband since she first became a detective; she looked at him as her best friend. Coming home to finding her husband murdered, was very terrifying for her she wasn’t married for long and losing him so soon got her very angry. Through the moment of her finding her dead husband as a detective she looked around the crime scene, as she waited for the FBI and police to arrive. She noticed all the little things that were similar to the case she was working on with her late husband. This gave her a sudden urge that she was close to figuring out the killer of the case. This information was so important to her, she informed her boss but he didn’t want her to work on her husband’s case they all thought it was too much for her. But as stubborn as Gabi is she didn’t listen, since losing the only person she loved was murdered by drug lords she took matters in her own hands. She went undercover to find out more. But if I continue I will expose the really good parts!!
I really enjoyed this novel; it was filled with a lot of surprises. Also it showed how hard will go for someone they truly adored. Gabi was a really strong character, she did everything for justice. The author setup for this novel was very organized and well written. But reading every novel you always have the bad parts mine was when Gabi found her husband, it was so sad the way she described everything.
I really did enjoy this novel; I’m looking forward to reading the other novels related to this series. The concept of this novel was great reminded me of NCIS of all the crime solving. I only recommend this novel if you enjoy reading crime related novels, personally you’ll enjoy it more.

I was looking for a long story to read, and I came across this 4 book box set. I am glad I read it as a box set, as I didn't know the books were not stand alone, so the cliff hangers between books would have bothered me because this is really is one big story. While sometimes far fetched, the author manages to keep it coming, and keeping me interested in both the story and her characters with each subsequent book, and pulled everything together into one very cool story with an excellent ending.

The style of writing is very amateurish, lots of style and grammar mistakes. The main character is very unrealistic and to be frank - dumb as a doorknob while processing to be one of the fastest rising detectives. Do not recommend.
Feels like it's written by someone who is trying to be a feminist but failing badly time and again.

Truly exhilerati gly scary and mind numbingly frightening

A well woven series of four conseutive books taking you on an unbelievable but all too realistic plot to control the world's population by manipulating genes to produce a master race to rule the world.

Undercover

This was a great set, except when it came to book 3. I really thought that someone else wrote it. And maybe they did. But book 4 was right back on! Could have been 5 stars.!!!

this book (four actually) was really good-it kind of dragged in a few places and I was just going to delete it but I stuck with it and it redeemed itself and ended up being really good. I would read more from this author.

A mystery to me

This was a difficult book to make sense of. It was hard to keep all the other plot twists understood. I won't be reading this author again.

Unforgettable

Sci_fi really. The story line I found comical. Too far fetched and ridiculously pitch. Must applaud the author for keeping the story line going.

GIRL UNDERCOVER 4- Julia Derek - Not really a book, rather just the start of the story. I do like her writing style and am eager to continue into her next DENIAL.4. She writes in the first person and this makes it different than most. It is not so compelling that I can’t put it down, but I do find it adventurous. There is no denial except for the fact that people are supposed to be killing them selves? The third part is THE TRUTH.3. This part gets a little skeptical if you want to believe the characters she’s made of Ian and Gabi. It really gets hard to believe some of this bs, like Nadja being tied with knots by a woman and not being able to untie them? Oh now we go to SHOWDOWN and Ian’s foot is as good as new? There is plenty of action in this one, but if you didn’t start with the first book it isn’t a stand alone. I don’t like authors who do this so I probably won’t be reading any more Derek. 4
