Something Nasty in the Attic

Rate this book
Jack knew the critter living in his shop, affectionately referred to as Fuzzface, wasn't a rat. But what exactly was he? It wasn't surprising Jack was in the dark, since the creature had never let himself be seen. Small, clean, and with a preference for canned crab, Fuzzface had become an invisible but comforting presence in the shop.

Imagine Jack's surprise when he learns Fuzzface isn't an unobtrusive shop pet, but his newest client.

Another great story about Jack and Marin. Jack meets a new magical creature (Bob) that lives in his shop and brings good luck. Bob's friend has a scary entity living in his attic so Bob asks Jack and Marin for help.
This time Jack is in danger because of Essence of dragon...an old ancient dragon is trying to possess him. Marin has to ask her father for help and Jack has to decide if he's willing to sacrifice himself to give an ancient dragon peace.
I've enjoyed each one of these episodes..Jack and Marin seem like the old friends you haven't seen for in a while but catch up with really fast.
This story is a little different from the others but just as compelling..Throughly enjoyed it.
I did receive an arc of this story for an honest review.

“Something Nasty in the Attic” is definitely one of my favorite installments in the Jack Spirelli Paranormal Investigation series. It reveals some of the questions that I have had since the series inception.

For months Jack has know that the fuzzy critter he has been feeding and calling Fuzz Face is not a rat but he had no clue what it is. Then when “Bob” reveals himself to both Jack and Marin he discovers that Bob has actually been thankful for Jack’s kindness and has been helping him keep his store afloat. Now, Bob wants to hire Jack to help a friend of his who is being scared out of his mind from an entity residing in the attic where he lives.

As Marin and Jack attempt to go to the store Marin freaks outa the hen she discovers that the entity is the essence of an ancient dragon. She is shocked and appalled because she believes she is responsible for the entity being here. As they attempt to figure out a way to get the entity or Joshua to leave they learn he doesn’t want to leave but needs their help in a totally unexpected.

Oh boy, in order to resolve this matter MaryIda going to have to contact her father as well as the head of the dragons, Lachlan. However, both she and Jack are going to quickly learn that this is the least of their problems.

This read is an emotional one. Readers will find themselves as emotionally twisted as much as the characters. The resulting solution promises many great future installments to come and I cannot wait!

The mysterious animal who Jack feeds leaves Marin a message that there is something bad in the attic. When they go to help, they find a very strong magical prescience. How to help is the question and are they totally out of their league.

This is yet another unique and engaging story from the Spirelli Paranormal Investigation series. Like the others in this series, it is creative, full of well crafted characters and has magic as its focus. The bantering between the characters is witty and containing snippets of humour flushing out the characters, displaying their strengths and foibles. The sense of compassion and the way they creatively solve the problem adds a great deal to the depth of the story. The storyline flows smoothly and quickly and is full of surprises. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more amazing adventures from this dynamic team.

Great start as 'Bob' reveals himself to Jack – Marin, as it turns out knew all along – and turns out to be one of those clients who doesn't give much away.
And Marin, aged 103 or 21 years depending on which scale you are using, has just screwed up big time.
Marin is both woman and dragon at the same time, but Joshua, having given up his human form and retreated from the human world, is back in some way.
It turns out that Joshua is now no longer dragon or human but has become the Essence of Dragon. And he fears he is going mad.
Jack can help by melding with Joshua but the outcome is uncertain and Jack fears losing his identity and, perhaps, his sanity.
Kate Baray, as usual, does a great job of exploring a facet of the paranormal.
Each episode is short, maybe too short, but I am enjoying them.

A magic creature who lives in his home brings Spirelli good luck, and hires him for a case. There is ‘something nasty’ in the attic of the charity shop where another arkan sonney lives. His friend Marin realises what it is … and it isn’t going to be easy to remove.

I’ve skipped book 3 - got 2 boxed sets that don’t include it. I’ll work it out, right?
Marin is proving more and more useful to Jack. I suppose having a dragon as back up is pretty cool but it does tend to lead to deus ex draconis.

A fun, wild ride that makes you ponder...

Unusual premise and characters, too. Use your imagination, relax and enjoy the ride. Every episode is a whole new problem to solve for the daring duo. Love them! Thank you Ms Baray once again!

The "case" of "Something Nasty in the Attic" is more involved with Jack's facing justified fear of loss of self, weighed against ethical obligation, while it was light fun to meet Bob back at The Junk Shop. (One of these days I'll have to get "Bob vs. the Cat", too.)

Listening to these episodes is like watching Murder She Wrote every Sunday night on tv when I was young. They’re short, fun and like going over to a friend’s house for a wonderful visit. I love every one of them.

There’s a junk shop, the one that houses Spirelli Paranormal Investigations, a.k.a. SPI. Then down the street, there’s a charity shop. They are different places and it’s important not to get them mixed up.

When the white furry rodent like creature appears to Jack in his office, he is surprised when Marin informs him that he has a request for Jack. Seems there is a scary something living in the attic of a neighboring store and he was hoping Jack could get rid of it since his friend also lives in that store. Jack certainly didn't expect the scary something to be so bad that Marin is terrified of it. What frightens a dragon! This is the 4th episode in the Spirelli Paranormal Investigations series, and the stories keep getting better! Looking forward to the new episode to be published in August.

I love these stories, A paranormal investigator, and a shape shifting young lady, what does she shift into, a Dragon. He is a little older, she is a teenager and she desperately wants a job. But her father is very powerful and Spirelli does not want to cross him, after all he is the alpha Dragon. Good story and characters are fun and also combative. I highly recommend this and the other books in the series.

Fourth episode of SPI and it is very good! I always thought of dragons being an interesting mythological character. Joshua, the ancient dragon, got peace and Jack got a headache, lol. Bob is a finder good luck charm and definitely not a rat. Thank you, Kate, for the dragons and Bob and the interesting reading!

Great read

Too short though. Needs more background on the characters. More like short stories but worth the money surprised. Will read more by this author. Would have given it 5 stars except for the length.

Very interesting reading

Really liked the story lines. The fantasy of the book is intriguing and the characters are brought out as being normal everyday. The idea of human/dragon is unique. Enjoyed them so I bought several of the books.

Interesting

These are really good reads. My only problem with them, they are too short. I would rather pay more and get a longer story, having said that, they are excellent.
