Rock Steady

Rate this book
Second book in the popular Rock Band series.

He kept it casual

Superstar guitarist Ramsey's reputation as a bad-boy rocker is exceeded only by his dedication to his music. He's worked hard for the success of his hit metal band Toxsin, and he intends to enjoy it -- completely. When a jilted groupie gets back at him for a one-night stand with an intimate - and completely inappropriate - tattoo, he needs it fixed -- and fast. Sparks fly between Ramsey and his new tattoo artist, and Ramsey finds himself hoping for more than new ink.

Until she made him want more

When a high-profile tattoo job lands Jewel an invite on Toxsin's latest tour, she can't say no. It'll be great exposure, after all. What she's really worried about is ruining the gig by hooking up with the first guy to completely rock her world. She knows she should resist - Ramsey's not the kind to stick around for a morning after. But the way he makes her feel - as an artist and a woman - could be worth any risk.

We all remember RAMSEY - guitarist of the very famous metal band Toxsin.

He's just had a little affair thingy with a groupie, but the poor girl probably thought it was a forever kind of love... And even though he never lies to the girls about his intentions, she still got him drunk and dragged him to a tattoo studio to get him the most rockstar-inappropriate tattoo: cherry blossoms!!!! In a very private area!!
But still an area he undresses for the rock audience every night on stage. And a famous rockband can't have a bad-ass guitarist with cherry blossoms on him!!!

Enter: Jewel

She decided to take a year after college to live a happy, fullfilled and exciting struggling tattoo-artist life before going back to her normal, boring life in an office.
And she's really good at the artist thing too.
Good enough to fix Ramsey's cherry blossoms into a bad-ass dragon.

Also - instant mega-attraction between those two.

And when her idiot boss yells at her and fires her because she didn't call him when the band showed up, Ramsey saves her and promises to find her a new job.

The new job turns out to be the bands personal tattoo artist ... She'll go on tour with the guys, to finish Ramsey's tattoo once it's fully healed.

But of course it's not an instant Happy Ever After.
Even though Jewel & Ramsey see each other every day, it's not easy. Ramsey is a very complicated guy. Ex Navy soldier with lots of baggage. But Jewel sees the real guy behind the tough rock-star facade.
But does he want her to see the real him?

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN WITH JEWEL & RAMSEY?
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPY EVER AFTER?
OR WIiLL THERE BE A CLiFFHANGER?

Nope - I'm not telling you anything!!! ☺

I'm the biggest Rockstar-Romance-Fangirl EVER!

And this rockstar was really hot and funny and adorable and broken.... you can't help falling for Ramsey!

We're on tour most of the time... that means the whole band is in this book a lot. I loved that. I can't wait to read the books of Taz & Drake - they all have a lot to tell.

This story was soooo adorable and sexy and funny and cute and HOT and moving and sad and frustrating. The whole 'I want you but I don't want to want you or I don't want you to want me and you couldn't handle the real me anyway' thing was a bit too much for me. It was too much back and forth. We all know they'll get together in the end and we just want them to get there already. But it takes them forever ...but I still loved Ramsey & Jewel a lot!

I love it when a rockstar romance is really rockstarish - meaning - they're on tour - we're seeing the roadies and bus-rides and paparazzi et cetera.

ROCK STEADY was a really sexy and sweet Rockstar-Romance!
You will sooo want your own Ramsey after reading it! ☺

Favorite Quote: “Look, it’s too early in the morning for your commitment issues.”

Ramsey is a well known and seemingly jaded guitarist with the band Toxsin. His fame, fortune, and rumored sexual prowess has not only made him a legend but also the target of a scorned groupie. When he tosses her aside after a one night stand, she gets her revenge by getting him intoxicated and having an inappropriate tattoo placed in an intimate area. Upon discovery, Ramsey and his band mates happen upon a young tattoo artist who fixes the tattoo and gains not only Ramsey’s gratitude but his interest. In order to explore this chemistry between them, he offers her the job of a lifetime.

Jewel came to Seattle to fulfill her dreams of becoming an artist. Currently working for a master tattooist who uses her skills and talent to make a better name for himself, Ramsey’s offer to tour with the band to increase her exposure is a dream come true. Worried that if she acts on her attraction to him, it may leave her nothing more than another notch in his bedpost, she strives to keep things professional between them. After all, Ramsey is not looking for forever but right now. But Ramsey is hard to resist and his passion for her and her art may be her undoing.

Rock Steady by Dawn Ryder is the second in her erotic romance contemporary series-Rock Band. While I haven’t read book one-Rock Me Two Times-that in no way impeded my understanding of this story or the characters involved. Heavily character driven, the story focuses on the romance between a famous rock star and a struggling artist. A fast read with two determined characters, an interesting storyline, and some very steamy love scenes; I did find myself raising an eyebrow or two at some of the antics of the characters and the direction the storyline took. Frankly, I found I liked our hero and heroine better as individuals than as a couple.

The story starts out well with fairytale overlay. Innocent and down on her luck heroine saves rich sexy hero. He rewards her by taking her away from her dreary poverty tinged life and giving her a shot at obtaining all her dreams. Not bad but not altogether unique either. This feeling changes gradually when you see that Jewel isn’t looking for her prince charming to save her. I liked Jewel for the majority of the book. She is a college graduate who had the courage to strike out on her own. Smart, sexy, talented, and brutally honest, she wants to make it on her own and stands firm in that regard. That means not allowing Ramsey to pay her way or give into any one night stands with him. She sees beyond his rock star persona and wants him to see her the same way-as someone worthy of more than a quick sexual release.

“I’m getting the feeling personal boundaries are something you struggle with.”

Ramsey is written as the anthem for rock stars. Gorgeous, talented, charismatic, and oozing sexuality from his pores. His misdeeds and escapades leave the tabloids with more than enough fodder. This is not to say he isn’t serious about his music because that is one of the few things in life he takes very seriously. He sees Jewel and wants her so he creates a reason to keep her. But as he gets to know her, he realizes that she wants and deserves more from him then a quick ride and so begins his journey into self-awareness and redemption. A rocky journey that is punctuated by his unconscious efforts to sabotage his burgeoning relationship with Jewel. I do applaud Ryder for keeping Ramsey in character. He doesn’t have a singular moment where he becomes instantly tamed. He makes mistakes over and over and over again as he struggles to understand and accept his growing feelings towards Jewel.

“I’m not changing for you.”

“I didn’t ask you to.”

Ryder showcasing the rock star experience through Jewel’s eyes. We see the lavish lifestyle, nosy paparazzi, and nonstop groupies. Jewel finds herself swept up and ill prepared for the crazy non stop accusations, insinuations and lies concerning her and the band. Jewel’s skepticism and low self-esteem come through strong in her narrative. The strengthening chemistry between her and Ramsey only produces more anxiety as Jewel feels herself being sucked deeper into his orbit and fears she is losing pieces of herself. Even with Jewel’s hesitation, the sexual tension is edgy with innuendos, jealous foreplay, and eventually an explosive release.

A plentiful cast of secondary characters insert themselves into the relationship, offering advice and some amusement as they attempt to help push forward a relationship they deem as worthy. From Ramsey’s band mates to his record label producer, everyone has a finger in this pie and make their thoughts known. We are introduced to the antagonist that started it all rather late in the game. A plot device whose characterization predictable-the iconic groupie who places too much value on herself.

I did have some issues. The tattoo plotline took serious liberties and was blatantly manipulative. The romantic aspects were overshadowed by the sex scenes. Their relationship essentially ran on physical attraction. We never see any true romantic gestures. Ramsey especially annoyed me because he kept doing the same things over and over in order to force Jewel to reassure him that she cared enough about him enough to stay. And while Jewel would take him to task over it, she kept excusing and forgiving his behavior.

Rock Steady is a lightweight opposite attraction erotic romance with the classic redemption of the bad boy trope Predictable and formulaic, you won’t become heavily invested, but it will fill a lazy day.

Sizzling Sexual Chemistry!

Tattoo artist Jewel is doing her best to make it on her own. You could say she is a struggling artist, when a high profile rock star stumbles into the tattoo shop where she works. He is so impressed with Jewels work that he will do just about anything to get her to come on the road with him as their personal tattoo artist.

Ramsey is a bad boy rocker who loves his music. When a jilted lover pays off a tattoo artist to make him a laughing stock, he rushes to get it fixed. He never imagined he’d find such amazing raw talent in the little spit fire that comes to his rescue. There is something about Jewel that makes him want to possess and protect her.

Get the fire extinguishers ready, this is another blazing hot romance form Dawn Ryder. Ramsey is the second band-mate to fall in her Rock Band series and boy does he go down kicking.

This book is for those of you who love a great bad boy and the woman strong enough to stand by their sides. For me, I found Ryder’s writing intoxicating and she left me wanting more.

Rock Steady
4 Stars

Rock guitarist for the phenomenally successful band, Toxsin, Matthew Brimer aka Ramsay, has women falling all over themselves for him. Annoyed by his inability to commit, Ramsay's latest short-lived conquest tricks him into getting a completely inappropriate tattoo. When sparks fly between Ramsay and Jewel Ryan, the gifted tattoo artist hired to fix the eyesore, he convinces her to join the band on tour.

One of those rare cases where the sequel is significantly better than the first book as the irritating issues in Rock Me Two Times, i.e., the rampant misogyny and doormat heroine, are absent here.

As with many reformed rakes, Ramsay's womanizing ways conceal a painful past and a fear of rejection. In Jewel, he is both terrified and delighted to have found a woman who sees past his flirtatous facade to the lonely man in search of a real connection.

Unlike Kate in book #1, Jewel has sufficient self-respect to recognize that becoming involved with Ramsay will only lead to heartbreak. She makes him work hard to win her heart and her trust, and calls him out on his attitude when necessary.

Unfortunately, it appears that Dawn Ryder has decided not to continue with the series so Taz and Drake's stories are left unresolved.

Rock Steady was an entertaining story with hot, sexy rock gods, partying to excess and strong women who go after what they want. It kept me interested and I enjoyed getting to see Ramsey again after meeting the guys in Toxsin in the first book in the series.

Unfortunately though, my thoughts regarding this book where shockingly similar to the way I felt about the first book in the series: it was cute, it was entertaining, but it had issues.

First, the dialogue was just odd. Many times, I had to go back and re-read passages because their conversations were either awkward, stilted, or just didn’t make sense to me.

Second, the plot devices were all just too convenient. The entire premise of how Ramsey and Jewel met was that he was getting a new tattoo to cover a tattoo mistake. Immediately after he got the first one. I’m no tattoo expert, but I’m pretty sure that this is not how it is done. And Ramsey just happening to be there when Jewel gets fired so she needs a new job, allowing the rest of the story to take place? Too coincidental.

And finally, Toxsin seems to be a cottage industry unto themselves. Because every band not only needs a “leather artist” to travel with them, which they got in the first book, but now their own tattoo artist. Who did shockingly few tattoos during the tour.

Rock steady truly was a pleasant way to spend the time. I enjoyed the characters and the band and am interested to get to know the last two guys in their follow up books. I just hope that their stories have a little more to make them stand out. Rock Steady was good. But it didn’t deliver anything unique or anything I haven’t read before.

In Rock Steady, we have our hero who is guitarist for the rock metal band Toxsin. But when a groupie gets him drunk and he finds himself with a cherry tattoo on his stomach, he needs a emergency fix from a tattoo artist and they find the best of the best...Jewel. Jewel against her parents advice, moved to the big city, found a small run down apartment that she can barely afford, to live the dream of being an tatoo artist. Her dream however isn't what she ever expected with a ass of a boss. But when superstar rocker and his band walks in needing her help....fireworks explode between herself and a predator of a male who wants her.
"I'm going to kiss you first"

His voice was raspy with promise, setting alarm bells as well as anticipation.

"Bad idea—" she managed to push past her lips before her brain fried.

"I'm all bad, Jewel " he informed her a split second before he claimed her mouth. If it was a kiss, then she'd never been kissed before.

But Jewel has her own values and refuses to be a one night stand. But when she loses her job because of aiding them, Ramsey gives her an offer she can't refuse, especially if she doesn't want to be living on the street with days. She starts an adventure with Ramsey and his rock band, a life she never imagined full of excitement, passion and some deceit she will have to muddle through. But what I loved most about this book was the chemistry we find here. Now at first I thought this was a new author, however this is a pen name for Mary Wine (a favorite HR author of mine) and she has done rock stars so well. I was very intrigued by this one and it was quite a fun book. There were some moments of grammar errors though which was a bit distracting while reading, but otherwise it was a solid romance. There were some misunderstandings that take place---mostly two complete opposites learning a new way of forming a relationship. I loved the chemistry between these two....I could almost feel it sizzle down my spine while reading and man this made me respect this author even more!! I was very intrigued by the first book which I have yet to read. You can be sure I will be one clicking it because man I loved those two and the way they practically push these two together to find their HEA. There were some moments the story felt a bit rushed at times but overall this was a sexy romance that I couldn't get enough of!! Bring on more rockers.

4 pleasantly entertained stars. I loved Ramsey in the first book so when I read the next one was his story, I was all over it. Dawn Ryder didn't let me down so she's a goddess. Jewel was most definitely a great match for Ramsey. I think that's the biggest win for this story, how well suited Ramsey and Jewel are for one another.

Ramsey's riding the rocker lifestyle high of endless women, alcohol, partying and performing. He's talented, gorgeous and borderline cocky. Underneath his first few layers of the typical rock star, Ramsey's got a good head and a good heart. He's more loyal than anyone might have pegged him for and that really shows with how he interacts with Jewel.

Jewel is a tattoo artist who is amazing at what she does. She was being held back at the place she was working because her boss felt inferior to her. Ramsey gets her to tour with Toxsin and further boosts her following. Jewel's quick-witted, driven and a bit bad ass. I found I liked her almost immediately.

Jewel and Ramsey have intense chemistry and work well as an entity. There were some serious garbage to deal with given Jewel wanting to keep her distance from Ramsey in any light outside of the professional one, Ramsey wanting into her pants and Ramsey's lifestyle choices up until meeting Jewel. In bed, the couple set the room ablaze and threaten to burn whatever establishment they are in. It's what goes on outside of the sexual relations that causes stress and strain. It all works the way it should to ensure a happy ending I think most readers will be satisfied with. I know I was.

I recently just became a fan of Ryder's work with her series Unbroken Heroes so I thought I would give this series a try. This is the second book in this rock star series and honestly I didn't fall in love with storyline.

If you read the previous book you're familiar with the characters in the band but if you're like me and reading this series starting with this book then you're getting to know the characters like I am and I really hard a hard time liking them.

So we meet Ramsey who by the way comes off as gods gift to women anyway he got drunk and slept with a groupie. While under the influence the groupie decided to get him back by taking him to get a tattoo of cherry blossoms. Now to me this just sounded ridiculous but moving on. So he meets up with the rest of his band and they see it. They all agree it has to be fixed and find a tattoo shop that is open 24 hours where Ramsey meets Jewel.

Jewel graduated college with a marketing degree but she is working in a tattoo shop because she loves art and she is good at it. She meets the band and decides to help Ramsey cover up his tattoo after its done they part ways but the next day jewels ass of a boss fires her for being jealous that she did the tattoo and not him. Ramsey offers her to go on tour for 4 weeks to do add ons to his tattoo and she agrees. Sparks start flying and well you get where the story is going.

These characters did nothing for me. I didn't get them or there way of thinking. One minute Ramsey is a womanizer ,the next an asshole and then the savior. I swear the mans personalities were giving me whiplash.
Jewel was a little on the annoying side at times but I liked her fire and wanting to make it on her own no matter what the cost would be.

The storyline was just okay, Obviously I have never toured with a band so I have no idea if this is what they go through but at times I felt like it was a little over done. I can't imagine if these rockstars are as big as they seem why they don't have security 24/7?!

I think for now I'll be sticking with the Unbroken heroes series. I may not have totally fell in love with this book but that doesn't mean someone else won't. We all have our opinions. Of course their is more to this story I left out due to spoilers but if this sounds like something you are interested in I would definitely give it a try.

I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads

After reading the first book in this series I was on board for #2 immediately. Dawn Ryder is a new to me author and her first book was awesome. I was interested to see her progression because I thought she had a good storyline going & interesting characters to build on. This installment is about Ramsey, lead guitarist of the band, Toxsin. He's a party boy, always looking for the easy, the quick and the least involvement possible in his woman. One such conquest gets back at Ramsey by getting him drunk & tattooed...with a very flowery tat. The boys from Toxsin need to get this fixed quick before tomorrow's concert and they take him to a local, but well reviewed, tattoo parlor and there we meet Jewel. She's damn good at what she does but she's up & coming and not very well known. Creating a one of a kind tattoo for Ramsey, she earns his and the boy's respect...but can she keep it? Not wanting to ride his rock star coattails but falling for him quickly and wholeheartedly. She worries his overbearing persona make her lose herself & her aspirations. The story is compelling, I liked Jewel's character, she stood up & wouldn't be walked on. Ramsey is a great alpha, bad boy, rock star. He is used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. The first few chapters were spent really driving home Ramsey's over the top sexuality and charisma...a bit overdone for me, I almost had to give up but I was glad I kept reading. Bringing Ramsey down to earth and his finding his heart again with Jewel was worth getting through the first few chapters, adding in strife from Ramsey's old lover and it's a fun read.

4.5* Fast and fabulous stars!

This is the second in the series, and I think it is even better than the first - as soon as I started reading, I remembered the whole leather clothing making scenario, and was quite confident of a hot, fast ad furious ride. Well, I got that and a whole lot more. Do read book 1 first as it puts the situation in context and we do see Syon and Kate, and get a touch more of their deliciousness.

Ramsey is not on a good path, and his band members are very protective of him and each other - but a momentary lapse results in an error which most definitely needs covering up. Enter Jewel to not just save the day, but make an amazing statement on Ramsey's body ... but it is not just his body that has her all hot and bothered, she sees something in him that even he seems to have forgotten, so deep is it hidden. As she peels back the layers there is a fight or flight to survive. I loved their intimate moments for the pull of the attraction, yet the fear of giving up the screens behind which they both hide. It is very sensual, and beautifully written. Some of the humour was priceless, the dialogue is spot on, and the romance is hot. I was absolutely transported to the rock star lifestyle, and the lack of ordinary, which confuses and damages those in its grasp. Lovely to see Kate happy, and the rest of the gang - I am looking forward to who is next to fall !

Rock Steady (Rock Band #2) by Dawn Ryder Dawn Ryder’s Rock Steady is a hit.  Toxsin guitarist, Ramsey Brimer, needs emergency tattoo work done after a scorned groupie marks him with an unsuitable tattoo.  He is intrigued by tattoo artist, Jewel Ryan, and convinces her to join the band’s tour.  This contemporary rock star romance is suitable to new adult and adult audiences.

I like Jewel’s character.  Having a design background, I love that she is a talented artist. I like that Ramsey’s tattoo became part of his stage persona.  I enjoyed learning more about Ramsey.  He is an interesting individual.  He doesn’t have the best relationship with his parents.  I respected that he brought Jewel home with him and how the situation materialized.  The two have fabulous chemistry and complement each other well.

I enjoyed the plot. The tattoo aspect was clever.  I love that the band is like a family.  They have been through a lot together.  I appreciated that we learn more about Syon’s and Ramsey’s childhood in this story.  I felt bad for all the ridiculous stuff they had to deal with the paparazzi.  The story was exciting from beginning to end.  I like how the story ended and look forward to Taz’s story.

A rock star romance,a weakness for me...so I had to request it ;-) I loved book one and really enjoyed being back with Toxin. Though this story features Ramsey we still see the other band members, just the sort of read I enjoy best.
I laughed at parts of this – the start, Ramsey and That Tattoo – brilliant. I kind of sympathised with the groupie... though she did know what she was getting into so it wasn’t really fair, but what a revenge!! Jewel – she was a terrific character, felt very real, a strong lady. She’s got past issues too and yet she’s worked to get past them. I do like ladies in novels that don;t just curl up and depend on a man, but run their own lives. Ramsey doesn’t know it but she’s just what he needs and vice versa. Jewel doesn’t need a “yes” man, but one who will understand her need for independence, and their romance was so explosive in the physical way. Yet the mental parts, the way they needed to adapt to each other took time and proved the for me much needed heartbreak section. I love the drama, and don’t want a sweet easy read. the more setback and hard parts to work through the greater the reward IMO and this book was perfect for that. .
Stars: Five, a cracking read. Great addition to the series

A rock star romance with some turbulent emotions.
Ramsey is a rocks tar living life in excess. But it all starts to catch up to him when he goes to the tattoo parlor that Jewel works at to have a cherry blossom tattoo covered up.
Although Jewel is in some serious list for Ramsey she doesn't let him push her around, which is exactly what he needs in his life. So what is he to do but offer for her to come on tour with his band so that she can keep updating the tattoo she created for him.
Jewel is trying out being a struggling artist for a year and then she is going to get a stuffy job as a marketing person. But when she gets to try out her skills on a famous musicians she thought her luck was finally turning around. That is until she starts to fall for him and that he has some major commitment issues.

I loved this book. I think the only real downer for this one was have Jewel kept forgiving Ramsey even when he didn't deserve it. But otherwise it was an amazing plot with an amazing group of characters that did a really great job at keeping you attention.

Rock Steady book two in Dawn Ryder's Rock Band series takes readers on another blazing hot leg of everyone's favorite rockers Toxsin's road tour! When bad boy guitarist Ramsey finds himself in need of damage control to cover up an image contrary tattoo, years of emotional defenses are challenged when he is confronted with his undeniable and genuine attraction to tattoo artist Jewel. Dawn Ryder knows her way around male leads that struggle with the thin line between civility and savage. A story filled with an urgent and feverish attraction between the hero and heroine is off set by their wariness in facing their deeper feelings. A nice mixture of humor, vulnerability and determined sexual pursuit build up a physical and emotional heat that when it finally reached its boiling point literally reverberated off the pages of this book. With a skill at conveying the raw sensuality of her characters Ms. Ryder's steamy and perceptive writing will give her audience what they crave as they live fast and love hard with the members of Toxsin!

Jewel is trying to make it on her own and that means working the graveyard shift at one of the best tattoo shops in town.
Ramsey the bad boy rocker needs the help of a talented tattooist to help fix a tattoo gone wrong at the hands of a scornful ex.
The book is pretty hot i enjoyed the characters, Ramsey required a lot of forgiving from Jewel which got a little tiresome but what do you expect from a bad boy rocker.

This book was a good addition to the series, i will be reading the next one.

I loved Ramsey I thought he was seriously sexy, "Ramsey reached out, and his hand stroked her chin. “I let you ink my skin. Put your mark on me.” The men in this band are close knit and have a great relationship with each other I loved watching them bust Ramsey's balls and the reactions he has, “what the eff?” he demanded of pretty much everyone in the room. “I’m jealous. So what? I’d think you’d all be happy.” I really liked this book the characters are well developed and loveable.

This book was awesome and I didn't want to put it down! The imagery the writer created was top notch. As I was reading I could imagine seeing the dragon or being transported to the apartment. So, many times the writer was so clear in the descriptions and details you could almost see what was being described. This is a very well written book and I loved how complicated the characters are and how the story line developed! This is a must read book!!!

I love this series! First a leather expert is needed on tour for their wardrobe, then a tattoo artist. I'm wondering if Taz's lady will be needed for his sushi addiction. Truly though I had a smile on my face practically the whole time I was reading Rock Steady. Jewel is always ready to put Ramsey in his place. Ramsey can't wait to issue his next dare for Jewel, to pretty much get her to do the things he wanted her to do all a long.

3/5

I'm sorta torn on this book. It might be a 2.5, but I did finish it and nothing in it drove me nuts on a personal level. So it's getting a 3.

The writing is basic. The characters and storyline are exactly what you expect. There's nothing shocking or surprising here. No quotable moments, though I did enjoy some of the raw honesty of the heroine at times. I died laughing when she reveals her sweet heroine secret! Priceless.

This is a classic devil and angel pairing. Can she save his immortal soul? Speaking of, there were strange references to morality? They felt so out of context that the references jarred me each time. I also was tripped up by repeating words, like 'epic' and 'zenith', as well as character behaviors such as 'bit the air', which as we all know is a marker of any serious badass. Snicker, sicker.

There were many unfinished plot threads and no character development at all. For example, the hero says things will be different but we don't ever see it. We also never find out who the rat is on the top floor. We never learn who she signs with. I have so many questions! Did she ever get on BC or is she pregnant?! The madness

I don't know. This is not one I would recommend or read again but if it falls into your lap on a deserted island and you have no other options, it may entertain you. Rock on.

Can a tattoo artist and a member of a rock band find common ground? Author Dawn Ryder dives in to see in Rock Steady, the second book in the Rock Band series.

One of the most interesting aspects of the story for me is the concept of tattoo rescue. I didn’t realize there was a specific phrase used to describe fixing a tattoo. I was very impressed with the descriptive language used to help me get a visual of how bad the original tattoo was. When Jewel saw Ramsey’s bad tattoo, her response was, “Oh, that is just wrong.” The author went on to say that the cherry blossom tattoo was like putting pink ribbons on the ears of a panther.

The sparks fly between Jewel and Ramsey, but that doesn’t mean an automatic happily-ever-after once the dust settles. The author manages to whip up some interesting challenges along the way to fit in well with the heated action.

I liked Jewel’s character because she maintains a strong attitude even when dealing with the fame that comes from being in a rock band. Her sassiness provides an excellent match for Ramsey because he is pretty much used to getting anyone he wants. Their verbal sparring helps build the tension.

I also enjoyed the teaser at the end of the story about Taz, which makes me ready for more in the series.

3.5 stars. Really well written erotic and steamy romance about one of the wild members of a hard core rock group. Ramsey meets Jewel when after a drunken night his 'date' for the evening makes him get a flower tattoo. Jewel reworks it to a dragon and is signed on to tour with the group so she can keep an eye on it and finish it; needless to say one thing leads to another between the H/h. Pretty quickly too - with slow burn for a while then they get right into it. There's wild parties, jealousy etc. Rock Stars you know. 😎

I didn't feel as attached to the characters in this book as I could have been - not sure why. Just that sometimes you love characters and sometimes you say - hmm. I did take a while to read it and picked it up and put it down a few times. This book can be read as a stand alone. This author also writes Scottish Historical under the name Mary Wine. ❤

Rock stars and tattoo artists are two of my favorites when it comes to my junk food books. So I liked these two, but I don't really know if their story worked for me. Why would he bring her on tour? He could just fly her wherever they were and have her finish the tattoo. So that was dumb. And then the other company contract stuff was also kind of dumb. All of the issues felt manufactured for drama and didn't really make a lot of sense. So, while I liked Ramsey and Jewel, the story was a little hard to swallow, even for me. (Also, I shouldn't write about swallowing in a book with this much sex...bahaha)

I wanted to DNF @ 68%. Doormat. Goes to other woman... twice... and then says it's to see if she'll care enough about it to call him on it.... within just a few paragraphs they are fully made up - both times - and this is normal. And, both times making out with someone else happens after he supposedly had a realization of how special she was. I don't usually DNF but the connection wasn't there and I didn't want to re-read that scenario two more times before the end of the book. I ended up skimming.... like page skipping skimming.... opinion unchanged.

Though I enjoyed parts of this, I felt like Ramsey's over the top behavior got a little tiring. He did a lot of mock biting (like, just while talking to someone he'd snap his jaws) -- stuff like that that felt like if I were around someone doing all this I'd be extremely annoyed. And look, I get it -- any rock star is going to have to a past but again, just TOO MUCH of a good thing is not a good thing.

This book was not as good as the first in the series. I thought the chapters were too long. There was sex galore and not enough of real life substance otherwise. I would read the rest of the bands' stories though as I feel invested in the group.

Had some reservations about this book because I usually do not read this type of book, but I loved it. The characters and storyline are phenomenal. Dawn Ryder did an amazing job with this book .

An erotic romance set in the rock world, Rock Steady delivers pure escapism - it was a great summer vacation read.
