Very creative. Not particularly scary. I thought it was pretty decent.

The overall story here is really really good. But with reading this I have come to understand the role of the editor in fiction. The book only runs 240 so I can't say don't invest in the underlying story but understand you will do a lot of skimming to get to the worth while parts.
