Basic children's cookbook. The applesauce sounded good. I thought I was getting a book about Hanukkah, but my library's selection was limited.

Hanukkah is a time for celebrating and eating. Sammy Spider loves to watch his friend Josh and their family celebrate Hanukkah. Sammy listened carefully as Josh learned eight rules of cooking in the kitchen. The most important rules are hand washing and reading the full recipe. That’s right, Sammy will be watching Josh and his father prepare their Hanukkah food.

Sammy Spider’s First Taste of Hanukkah is a cookbook children will love and so much more. There are several categories of recipes that include Simple Snacks, Miracle Meals, Tasty Treats and Crafty Ideas. Simple Snacks include recipes like Maccabee Munch which is a cereal snack of dried apples, cranberries and raisins or Crispy Potato Veggies incorporates broccoli, mushrooms and zucchini with a crispy potato coating. Tasty Treats are delicious dessert recipes. Readers can also learn to make gift wrap, play dough and Hanukkah decorations in the Crafty Ideas section of the book.

Authors Sylvia A. Rouss and Genene Levy Turndorf have put together a great book of recipes, crafts and blessings for children and their families. The colorful illustrations are artsy and fun. This great book has everything you will need for the Hanukkah holiday.
