The epic conclusion to the BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS series...

With her family life in emotional turmoil, Nara turns her focus to the one thing she knows is most important for convincing the raven spirit inside Ethan that he is the Master Corvus. Of course, Ethan trying to protect her by keeping his distance makes that goal near impossible to accomplish.

But once the archangel, Michael, warns her that Lucifer is almost upon them and she's running out of time for the Master Corvus to accept who he is, Nara receives help bringing Ethan back to her from the most unlikely source.

Searching for answers leads Ethan and Nara to London, where allies and enemies converge. There, the couple must fight pure evil in the biggest battle of their lives and ultimately discover who they really are and what they stand for when faced with the hardest decision of all.

Save the world or the one you love...

AWAKEN is the last book in the BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS series. It is not a standalone novel. You must read the previous books in the following order before reading BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS, LUCID, DESTINY and DESIRE. There is also a novella prequel, ETHAN, that can be read at any point, but is best read before LUCID. The book is meant for readers 16+.

Ok, this really was more like a 3.5 for several reasons. I waited 2 years and 9 months for this book, that seems like an eternity. When I finally get my hands on it, I came pretty close to just not finishing it, because at times it felt almost like the wheels had fallen off. Seriously, the first 33%, which is a huge chunk honestly, could have just been summed up in a chapter. It really felt unneeded, and filler. I was very frustrated with that part, because for most of this time, it felt as if Nara and Ethan's romance was much more important than the Corvus story. Finally, that 34% mark brought me the book I'd wanted, and I was glad I stuck it out. But, the remaining 66% can't up the star rating for me. Because there were some other eye rolling moments, like Nara's father, that brought it down. He was a character I could have done without because he was pretty over the top.

As for the rest, the action and the actual conclusion, I felt almost as if some parts were off. I needed more Matt. I needed to see some other resolution for Drystan. There was just some more needed elements, which if the angsty romance at the beginning of the book was axed, and more meat to it, this stuff probably could have been handled.

The end is here! FINALLY! Finally finished this series. This series has been sitting in my queue for YEARS! I first started this series about four years ago. I think it was more but that was before I started keeping track with GR in 2014. Anyway, long story short (Too late) I had to wait for the series to finish and the last book finally came out this year. Okay whew, background info over–now on to the good stuff.

So this plot seemed simple at first but it evolved and changed with each book. And I know that is expected with a series but you would be surprised at the amount of series I have read that just recycle the same plot in each book. One of the reasons I loved this series so much was that each book had a duel plot. The big picture that carried over into the next book. And a small plot that was resolved with each edition. And while most series have this concept, each plot was separate but had equal face time in the books.

Also, Ethan and Nara have their own parallel stories in this series, making it stand out to me even more. Nara comes off as really quite perfect as a character. Smart, sassy, funny, head strong, family oriented and pretty much the polar opposite of Ethan.

Ethan is a loner, broodish, a bit possessive and generally has a surly disposition. This corresponds with his background though, so its actually a nice contrast to Nara’s constant positivity.

I loved how integrated became and while I felt the side characters could have been fleshed out a bit more, Samson and Gran more than made up for that.

Honestly, the ending was a bit of a letdown. Probably having more to do with the fact i was upset the series was ending than any fault of the authors. I highly recommend this series to any YA addicts out there. I’ll most likely re-read it again at some point.

I waited and waited and waited for this book. I purchased it within the first week and all the build up of it promised it would be epic. If epic means 300 pages of unfinished plot lines and half cooked story ideas then this word is spot on.
Yes it finished the series. Yes it was great to finally get closure on E & N. That's pretty much the end of the greats as I can think of at least 5 unfinished story lines that beg for an ending or closure and the book seems like an afterthought or an essay written the night before it's due.
I wish the publisher or author had the integrity to recognize that this isn't the ending readers who waited years deserved.
If you're thinking of buying wait until it's free and even then you'll probably be disappointed.

Awaken was everything I hoped the completion of Nara and Ethan's story would be, and more. I was able to dive right into the story and be immersed in the world of the Corvus. Ethan and Nara made me cry, and laugh, and filled me with joy. The storyline was so compelling, with twists and turns that I never saw coming. And I loved how things from the whole series wove together to wrap everything together. You DEFINITELY need to read the books the precede Awaken in the BKOD series. This is not a stand-alone story.

Sex: multiple scenes, discreet
Language: 14 F words, 17 Lord's name in vain, 26 S words
Violence: if you're this far, nothing new
HEA or Cliffhanger: HEA
Do I need to read books before this one: yes
Would I read more of the series: yes

Fantastic conclusion! Dark; had to take breaks to read lighter books 2x. Didn't see ending coming.

----SPOILERS----
Ethan AWOL, Michael absent. Gran's moving in for better therapy, stroke affecting speech and strength. Ethan shows as Gran moves in. Dad's rude, Gran hits him with cast in groin, sings RESPECT. No us anymore, I have duty to earth, you did yours convincing me I'm Master. Patch dive bombs him as he leaves.

Ethan is afraid Corvus will hurt Nara accidentally, it's so strong. At school, he ignores her. Dad glares. Drystan "talks" to her, drunk. Matt got the tattoo, is still tense.

Gran: love is important. Drystan emails, going through stuff. Kenny invites Nara running, Ethan texts Don't trust anyone. You're right; you're blocked. Dad has a restraining order against Ethan ready to file. She goes running, Samson drives her home, unaware Ethan broke up with her. Houdini leaves dirt spots. Michael: Lucifer's almost here, gotta convince Rave, he needs you. Ethan says he doesn't. Ethan's wrong, the spirit can't do this alone; Master without accord with human host is nuclear explosion. You balance them both. Lucifer will take advantage. Trust your instincts, you'll find a way to reconnect; don't give him a choice; force him to acknowledge you. Dad comes in, gives her ripped restraining order.

Ethan and Samson have dinner with parents; Ethan and Rave fight. Both miss Nara. Parents want to meet Emily but not Nara under normal circumstances. Rave causes ground to shake, intimidating Ethan. Nara is what makes you special. Lawyer Grant Rockford tells him he inherited from Danielle. No thanks.

Patch attacks Kenny while running. Nara takes off the ring so she can enter Ethan's dreams to convince Rave. Fate: Be demon bait; wakes her up. She walks Houdini with Mom, who wants to watch Dad's videos alone. Houdini and Patch attack a possessed man. Nara gets Mom home, goes after Houdini. Ethan woke from his nap, saw it from Patch's PoV, came. He's angry she's not wearing her ring. Too bad.

Parents want her to go to London. Someone's ruined Dad's videos. She pings Drystan, Wicklow calls back. Paladin Phillip's fire got out of hand, died. Drystan gone a lot. She'll try to do London trip a day early to see Drystan.

Ethan somehow unblocked his number on her phone; Don't go to London. You're not in my life, you don't get a say. I'm teaching you self-defense. She goes to car wash, Fate draws symbol on windshield, demon attacks. Ethan calls while she's in suds. Demon is waiting with pipe, she guns, Patch dives and is clipped. Ethan takes him out, mad at Fate. Nara understands they can't be together. Rave screams at Ethan in his head. Ethan's safe thought is Nara cuddling on his chest.

Drystan calls as she parks for training. He feels guilty for pushing Philip to try his powers, and excited she's coming. Ethan trains her with wood weapons. He knocks her wind out, rubs tummy while she breathes, glow, yearning, lesson done. She tails him, he goes to Sage. Nara waits 'til he leaves to go in. She's helping Ethan control dreams. Ethan comes to her room middle of the night. What would you say to Rave? Protect Ethan because, without Ethan's heart, what's Rave really fighting for?

At training. Ethan is physically tempted, and Rave is encouraging it. Ethan surprised she says he visited last night. At home, she pets Patch, introduces to Gran because he is intent on her. He flies to her lap, bows, hugs. She pets him. Gran: Margaret. Patch is Ethan's pack. Ethan wakes her up again, Say more to Rave. Stop hiding from who you are, stop hoping it goes away because Lucifer won't. Michael says he's coming. An angel is worried. What if he's wrong and my Corvus isn't Master? Then Ethan's phone wakes him up. E: You're *my* Sunshine; I protect you, not him. (Was Corvus dirt stains?) N: I'm only "your Sunshine" if you're all in. You walked away, broke my heart. E: Not any more, I can't do this; wanted to keep you safe, but he's too strong. I have spans of time I don't remember. N: I'm in as deep as you. E: No one can know we're together, I don't want you or family as target for demons. He'll go to London. Kisses. She asks to speak to Rave; she'll know if Ethan's back because of the light they generate skin-to-skin. Corvus can't affect Ethan when she touches him. R: Why do you think I'm Master? He holds her hand, she sees through floor and dirt to bugs, through ceiling to rain and Veil. He can't. What do you remember 30y ago? Nothing. She tells him what she knows. He wouldn't kill Leader, he doesn't want to go to Sanctuary. Rave holds her hand, lets Ethan back because their love is pure and unique. Ethan can mental speak to her, but only when touching. Rave can't hear. Rave sent him to darkest part of R's mind. He's feels anger, betrayal, and disdain for human sins. Ethan's afraid to help him get his memories back because that'll come, too. We can't let Lucifer make Earth home. On the way home, Ethan and Rave argue. Nara is both their weaknesses. Rave threatens to take over, Nara can tell difference.

Ethan meets Grant, sets up private space no one but him knows about, even Grant. He'll be financial manager now, too. Ethan contributes anonymously to double size of CVAS. Grant brought money, passport, tickets. He's been on Nara-fast 2d to control Rave. Mom calls; Dad's in ER, almost fatal. Samson's possessed, beat up Dad. Nara's with him.

Nara knows when she finds Samson's watch. He subdues her before Ethan arrives. Ethan stabs him, demon doesn't poof away. Samson is bordering evil, and Ethan doesn't want to lose him. Demon: Dad just died, I ate Corvus ashes which is why sword's hurting S's body and makes demon invisible to Corvus. Rave twists sword as Nara holds, channeling Samson's love and sacrifice: He's worth saving, Get out of him now! Nara passes out, Samson lives. So does Dad. Ethan calls tattoo artist to put UV symbol between Samson's shoulders.

Dad's near-death experience got his priorities straight. Both men remember, and all's OK. Samson wants Ethan to move in with folks.

Matt's having nightmares of ravens crashing inward on his tat. Tattoo burned, as soon as Lainey touched, fine. She'll tell Ethan. She tries Drystan, gets Wicklow. Adder was last host, body shut down when Master left it. She calls Michael. He says Master will take over Ethan. Fighting isn't the only way to win a battle; she'll find another way. Ethan left her a phone in her car with an address. They make love in his new home before he goes to Matt.

Nara tells Samson everything so Ethan has his love and support, a reason to live.

Matt's tat IS changing infinitesimally, except when Lainey touches him. He tells Matt, they don't tell Lainey. Ethan's bringing him to London.

Samson was waiting in Ethan's room when he walked through wall to get his stuff, handed him a beer: Let's start with this and my apology, and once I've had a couple of beers, show me the sword and the freaking wings. He reports on Matt; Lainey's superpower is negating supernatural. Drystan amplifies it.

Going to London. Gran says Look for me; Nara interprets as take pictures. Nara mentions Adder, Rave gets supernova angry, E: Touch me. Rave shows. Pain and pleasure, we'll help you. Patch arrives at hotel. Ethan hears voices in head. Drystan won't meet them. At library, voices louder. He's hearing Corvus, they sense him and reach out, Rave yells Get out. They take the tourist book that's where the Raven book should be, go back to hotel, make love. Her feather's half black, comes off. He puts it on the book, she feels something but is too tired. Feather back on. He showers, comes out to her sitting on bed holding feather and book. He takes her flying to see London, Rave takes over to share seeing through things with Ethan. They go to dinner, cab fills with knock-out gas, Nara kidnapped. Patch wakes Ethan, shows ransom note: We want what was in the spine of the book. Ethan and Rave cooperate. Ethan shows Patch a picture of Drystan, Find him. London's ravens go. Drystan: I need something she held recently, not you because I don't want to be responsible for destroying you. Do it anyway. They drive to pinpoint spot because she's unconscious. Rave calls all Corvus.

Demons will strip Nara to find the corvus symbol. They leave momentarily, she heats up the ring and burns the symbol into finger. They'll cut it off. Fate helps her lock a demon in the room. Drystan and Ethan find her. Drystan finds where she marked in the book, sees an otherworldly layer over her tattoo, but not in the actual feather. They go to the Tower; demons. Ethan fights; Drystan and Nara go underground to get into Tower. The Ravens book pages, when fanned, show the 3 raven images from parchment. She tells Drystan everything. They break open the case holding the book where the warder signs, chief Warder and raven master comes out with gun. Drystan: Show feather tattoo, she does, then the feather comes off. James says they were told to assist someone with a raven's feather unlike any they'd ever seen. She signs her name in the book with blood ink, it dries, and then a wall appears with stairs leading down. No one will be able to follow once the door is closed. Except Ethan, he can walk through walls. It's a crypt for all fallen Corvus. Ethan joins, Rave needs to find image. She sees the 3 ravens painted on 3 walls. In part of it is a keyhole that requires her feather and one of Ethan's feathers to unlock. Rave's memories are in there. E: N stay. Rave comes back, You are needed.

Raven feathers used to be white; eons fighting demons takes toll. He chose Adder as his host to understand mortals. Knew love. Mortals betrayed Adder; Rave broke every rule, becoming what he fought. N: Do you hate me, Rave? Too many memories and so much darkness. Would a pleasant memory help? Yes! Promise you'll keep Ethan safe. I promise, now share. Let Ethan in, I can't do it without him. She and Ethan remember Corvus submarine. The room is bright! Rave: Thank you, included Ethan's Corvus side, so now I have my own pleasant memory. But what if they already found the answer to defeating you, what if I missed it? It's nice someone cares about me; answer was memory loss. Lucifer has no advantage. Rave to Drystan: Guard Nara's life with his own, I'll show you truth. Drystan: Even if you hadn't told me, I would protect her. Rave teleports them to an office not far from the Tower. Tells Patch to guard them.

Adder freed Olivia, a junkie, from a demon; was something about her. He took her to the Sanctuary, asked to stay to help her learn be Paladin. She hated him while detoxing. They made beautiful music. Olivia fell for Adder. Adder, not Rave, fell for her; Rave didn't know. Adder met with Sanctuary leader. Wicklow brought Olivia, Drystan's dad joined them. Leader to Adder: I know you're Master, where are all the Corvus. Rave thought it was a power play. The leader put a needle in Olivia, Adder didn't relent, the leader OD'd her. Wicklow watched, Dad tried to make leader let her go. Rave didn't let Adder respond, so Olivia died thinking he didn't care. That's why Rave blew up.

Nara's dad shows up. Rave teleports him to Virginia. Rave downloads all Nara withheld into Dad's brain. Except intimate scenes, because Ethan never shared fun stuff with Rave. Rave goes to Matt. His tattoo is whole now. He dreamed he stopped crypts from people burning them. Matt sees Corvus future. Rave teleports there, burns skeletons.

Rave drives Drystan and Nara to Sanctuary; too quiet. Rave leaves, Nara's worried, Drystan can't find Ethan. They go to the roof. She sees kidnappers going in. She gets feather off back, holds it and Drystan's hand, tells him to call Corvus for help. They go to street, kidnappers chase; Patch etc attack to no avail. Ethan is in a big bird cage, tranquilizer dart, Paladins are gassed. Wicklow hosts Lucifer. Wicklow masterminded 30y ago, too; Drystan's dad unknowingly helped Wicklow be persuasive in people's minds. Wicklow killed brother to get to Drystan. Lucifer chains Nara to Ethan's cage; if it moves, she's in pain. However, it lets Ethan "talk" to her. Lucifer knows about Corvus ashes. Frosty air by her. Wicklow wants to control all Corvus. She breaks ice chain. Rave's free, can't teleport; Drystan and Nara can't get out. Rave fights Lucifer, Drystan and Nara work on door. Rave unconscious, Lucifer makes Nara feel guilty by comparing her to Eve. My supernatural power is saving the world. She puts touches him, pushes light. Drystan holds her hand. She blasts Lucifer across the room, then dying in Drystan's arms.

Ethan's body is broken. Save Nara! Can't until Lucifer is gone. Gets Ethan mad and focused, stabs Lucifer. Demons will remember ash trick. Nara knows when veil breaks, so balanced. Lucifer losing, R to Ethan: Think when glowing in bathroom. Lucifer's gone. Nara is dead. Rave will leave Ethan's body when it's strong enough to live. Ethan retreats.

Rave holds Nara. He feather all black. He cries. Michael can converse because Rave didn't take over. Has broken rules for her. She sacrificed to bring you back. When a young mortal out-strategizes the military leader of the Celestial realm, how could you not think hers was a life worth saving?

Nara wakes, sees 25yo gardener with sunflower who takes her to Nana. Thanks for watching over her. It's Gran! You're dead? I only returned for you, and I'm here waiting for you. Nara remembers London. Can't know if Ethan lived, returning comes with price. I choose life. Gran can't come; Nara was her assignment. Dandelion patch.

She wakes, Never thought I'd see you again lightweight. She weeps, Ethan returns, Rave's gone without goodbye. Nara has streak of black in her blonde. Michael: Rave asks Ethan to host voice when needed. Nara, teach Sanctuary rips in veil, which will strengthen Corvus-Paladin link. Michael removed ring, all scars gone but one from Ethan's sword. She is other, demons can't possess. He bows to her, leaves. Other comes from Michael, tethering them. Angels are vulnerable to Corvus sword. Drystan feels her! He and cousin (Warwick's bastard) will run Sanctuary.

2w later. Her parents go on cruise. Dad spent time with me Ethan, approves (except sex). She and Ethan, Lainey and Matt spending summer in London on "internship." She goes in bedroom, toy crystal ball now is Gran because she's "willfully defiant" and doesn't get body to do work. Houdini whines for Patch, no show since London. Here! Patch has white feather like original ravens. Ethan arrives: Patch had piece of Rave's subconscious. Rave will always watch over Nara through Patch. I'd like that; I consider Patch and *you* family, Rave. Her black hair has blue and purple in it. Her feather is white. Patch says Ethan is getting soft, music instead of gym. Kick out Patch, Houdini, Gran; make love.

This book tasted like a stale afterthought. The kind where someone is trying to finish a story but its lost it power of attention, even the speaker has lost interest so instead of doing the right thing by shutting up or simply admitting to their own indifference and moving on; instead they struggle to give the listeners what they thought was the originally idea...even if they themselves can't remember.
So what we, the few who lingered on the edges of years hoping maybe this book will eventually become more than infrequent media post among hotter'n'readier trends, were given this book. I admit, the first 30% of this book was almost unbearable to read; it felt like I was reading every fucking previous books drama compacted down because...hell why change now? The later half of the book was better, except I remember precisely thinking "I am finishing this book tonight so I can not have to worry about having to read it tomorrow" and it wasn't because I needed to know what happened, it was because I just wanted it over and done with. And felt a bit bitter about that.

So yeah, three stars because this was a sad finale to what could have been an amazing adventure.

I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good ending to the series. The first quarter of the book or so could have been left out. It was super annoying and unnecessary, but once I got past that part then I enjoyed it. I'll be sad to leave Ethan and Nara

Series review featured on: https://indiewishlist.wixsite.com/blog/

When I first started this series years ago, I was completely drawn in. I thought I knew where the story was going, but yeah, I had no clue. I read the first three books and had to wait until the fourth. Then I had to wait YEARS for the fifth. I waited so long I forgot I was waiting for it. Well, I just remembered a couple weeks ago, and now it’s been so long since I read the first four point five books (Ethan is a novella that came out later. It’s a prequel to the first book, but should be read after the first book) that I had to read them all again. And I’m so glad I did! 😊

Ethan and Nara have a roller coaster of a relationship. In book one, Brightest Kind of Darkness, we see their meeting and the beginning of a budding relationship. Then Ethan disappears in most of book 2, Lucid, to deal with some stuff. However, Nara has plenty going on in her world, while worrying about Ethan. Book 3, Destiny, completely wrecked me. No one is communicating (I’ve stated repeatedly through reviews that lack of communication guts me!). It’s a mess of emotions. Then things are back to lovey-dovey in book 4, Desire … until the very end. Book 5, Awaken, the book I waited YEARS for, starts like book 3, Destiny, all over again—the couple aren’t communicating, and Ethan has left Nara for her own safety. I couldn’t read the book fast enough. And when I was done, I wanted to go right back to the beginning again!

Ethan struggles with nightmares. He is an empath who picks up only the negative emotions of others. These negative emotions come out through his nightmares, showing him the demons other people face in their lives. At one point, prior to the series’ beginning, he tries to kill himself, unable to take all the negativity anymore. He goes through a major character arc throughout the books. You can’t help falling in love with Ethan, but his stubbornness makes you want to hit him upside the head.

Nara is equally as stubborn. However, where Ethan always seems to be wrong, she is always right. I wish Ethan had figured that out a long time ago. She also has a gift. She can see her next day in dreams the night before. Throughout the events in the book, she remains strong. She is very loyal to Ethan and her friends, though her friends are pretty shallow. One in particular I wish she would have dropped. Nara has a good head on her shoulders. She is fearless, not naive, and just a good person in general. Even when people were trying to tear her down, she remained strong. If I were her, there were many times I would have gone off on people. Not Nara, though.

I don’t want to give away the direction this series goes, because it truly surprised me. Elements grew in the story. When you thought it was about one thing, the books turned in another direction.

This is definitely one of those memorable series that you will never be able to walk away from. I wish the story could go on and on forever. I can’t express how much I love this series. It’s one of those stories you will read over and over again.

There is so much I want to say about this book.
First, I started to realize that the book was missing some parts. I mean, the story is epic, the world is grand, but there are just little things that could've really added realness to everything. The power of a name is usually underrated. I understand that some things are left unsaid so the reader's imagination is stimulated, yet it would've been nice to see a little more depth to the story.
Second, at some point the book dragged the story. It was longer than it should've been, in my opinion. The length wasn't really an issue, the content was. There were some moments that repeated themselves annoyingly. I mean, I love the love and the romance and the passion, but too many words were spoken and very little action.
Third, I would've really appreciated a bit more spirituality. I mean, do they even believe in God? I'm sure they must, but do they realize that He's, you know, GOD? I think Michelle took angels and demons and made them a little too human.
Overall, I loved the series. I loved that it had a happy ending. Too happy, perhaps.

Well! I have finally reached the conclusion of this series. I must admit that it doesn't have the same pull as the previous books. It's a little outstretched in places and very frustrating even though it leads to a somewhat rushed, but desirable outcome.

All in all it's a good series. Great concept and good main characters, but the final part takes the compulsion out of the story.

I read it through because I wanted to know how it all ended, but was a tad disappointed with the content of this finale.

P.T. Michelle is a truly gifted storyteller. This last book in the BKoD series was exactly what I'd hoped for. It was intense, emotional and filled with twists and turns that made this series finale a perfect conclusion to Ethan and Nara's story. All of the little pieces from the previous books come together so perfectly, I couldn't ask for a better ending. If you have not read the first four books in this series, you need to just jump right in and start Book 1 right now.

Excellent. I was a little leery that I might not enjoy the intimacy, the frequent intimacy between the two main characters. Once I got over that part, and saw that it was done tastefully with finesse, yet heat, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story from Ethan to Awaken. Lovely, interesting, multi-facted, nail biting. Enjoyable. SO much to like.

Loved this series

Where do I start? I love this story from start to end. Ethan and Nara's story is something to read. I hope the author will consider another book on them. I would love to read an older version of them. ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️

Awesome ending! However, I wish there was more; there is so much that can follow this storyline. I know these were done years ago, but the author should consider writing more in this series, lol.

Not your ordinary teen love series. Unexpected events and a good fantasy. Kept my attention and I couldn't wait till the next book!

The ending could've been better, especially with the relationship going on between Nara and Ethan you'd think they've got this after the previous book.

Brightest Kind of Darkness. - review of the series. 6 books but more like 5 and a half because the Ethan prequel is only 100 pages… and pointless.

I enjoyed this series as a whole… I had non idea what was reading until book 4 😅 I don’t know anything about Lucifer and Michael and Angels and Satan and Faye and destiny, but maybe if I did this series would have made sense earlier. The first book was good! But I didn’t understand the ending… I wonder if I had more knowledge around the subjects I would have understood. But not understanding? That’s what made me want to read more. The Ethan novella taught me nothing and gave me nothing. Doesn’t really need to exist but it being terrible made me buy the next one to find out what was happening 😂

I believe these books started out as YA genre but by book 4 there was some very vanilla spice and that was nice to read and get to because the sexual tension from book 1 was crazy! Very good author who should definitely stick to romance! Such good build up and release!

I feel like this didn’t need to be as many books as it is. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t want to put the last book down as everything built up and the ending had me surprised too - but happy at the very end. There were little things that didn’t need to exist at all, like the David storyline 🤷🏼‍♀️ but overall I loved this series!

Didn’t disappoint

This book didn’t disappoint. It’s left open but it ended in the best possible way. I cried for Ethan and Nara. I thought at one point I would end up throwing my poor kindle across the room.
Nara is such a great character. She’s sassy, brave and fights for what she wants. She fights for the ones she loves and for herself.
Ethan is magical. I do love him. The love between Nara and Ethan is beautiful and powerful.
The fight between Ethan and Lucifer had me wanting to scream and cheering Ethan on and Nara. It was great to have Drystan back again and to get answers. There are new questions and I do hope Ms. Michelle decides to take us back to Ethan and Nara’s world again.
It took me a year to get to this book but I know it’s because I didn’t want it to end. I loved every book in this series.
I know a lot of people aren’t happy with the open ending but to me it was perfect.
I highly recommend this series. Every book takes you into the world of Nara and Ethan and it’s amazing to get lost in their world and be there with them.

Overall, I was happy to get to this final book and although not a fan of the beginning, once Ethan and Nara got back on track, the rest of the book took off. One of my favorite parts of the book included Samson and his unconditional support of Ethan. My least favorite outside of the distance between Ethan and Nara the first part of the story, Nara's dad. Not that I could not empathize with a father looking after his daughter, but he was just a little much. When I have time, I do want to re-read the entire series now that all of the books are complete. The gap between the books means I have to try to remember some of the things that occurred in a previous book and odds are, I missed something which is probably why this ending didn't rate as low for me as others. However, I adored Ethan and Nara from the beginning and getting back to their story was exciting.

This was a weak ending. It could have been so much better! I thought it was disappointing.

The fight scenes....I think the author prob needs to work on the sequence of them. For a story it was weak and the emphasis on certain things weren’t the best in the fight scenes. Just needs some work.

I liked the coming together of details for sure. I felt like it was kinda rushed at the end but then kinda not. When you read you’ll understand. But I thought the plot wasn’t bad at all. But the climax was not a climax. It was a disappointment to me really.

I had so many hopes for this ending but it just wasn’t the best ending to a FIVE BOOK series.

Could’ve been better. 3.0 star rating for this book. 3.5 star rating doe series overall.
