17 year old Nova has one last chance to turn her life around. When the judge gave her an ultimatum of getting herself and her life together or going to prison, she is sent to a Ranch in the middle of nowhere swarming with hot cowboys.
The same Ranch that she had burnt a barn down on that had sent her back to Juvenile detention.
The same cowboys that had almost lost their ranch because of her.

How do you change when everyone hates you and doesn't trust you?
How do you change when you don't want to?

Which life will she choose? The fun but dark life she's been living her entire life or something even better?

*This story is a reverse harem, meaning she'll end up with more than one guy*

I hated it.

Why did I hate it so much?
Because of one character. One fucking asshole shithead character. Jaden ruined everything for me.

Harrassing a woman is not okay.
Trying to get in her pants all the time when she already said no more than once is not okay.
Being that persistent is not okay.
And don't give me the "but she kind of like him too" shit. This is just not okay, the dude should just back off and the author should have done so.
This is just pure sexual harassement and I don't like seeing this romanticized.

Let me tell you a story that I'm sure everyone has heard. Your English teacher tells you to write a short story and avoid the word said like the plague. So you use your thesaurus, trying to find more expressive words than said. As an adult, I realize that my teacher was just trying to broaden my vocabulary. However, some people still treat said and even replied like they are dirty words that must never, ever be used. As a result, we get lines like this:
"This is a see you later from your hot cowboys," Jayden spoke...
"What he's really saying, is that some of us aren't manwhores," Landon stated.
Do you see how clunky and ridiculous that sounds? Spoke and stated are two words that I'm starting to hate seeing in indie books because it's obvious that they're trying to avoid using said, and both words are usually used incorrectly. Said is not a bad word, people. It can be used with adverbs to convey a more precise tone, or used on its own. (Though some editors hate adverbs with a fiery passion, so use them, but don't use them a lot.) Sure, you don't want to overdo it, going "He said, she said, he said, she said" over and over, but there is nothing wrong with a good old fashioned said once in a while.

Oooh ooooh oh! This one was so good y'all! I spend an hour scrolling through amazon's "recommended for you" category and stumbled upon this. It started off completely unlike my style, the 17 year old is goth and in my opinion, very dark minded, I was doubting that I would continue on reading it when it took a sharp right turn into awesome and lustworthy. Why you ask? Oh just the fact that as her "community service" after burning down a barn is to live with the family and help rebuild.... Did I mention that this family has five young men who are all sexy in their own ways? And yes, the author thoroughly pulled this off. It just kept getting better and better.
I'm pretty sure this would be classified as YA, there are several lust filled moments with the boys but it does not go far at all which causes the build up to be HUGE! I was almost dying over the fact that I needed a love scene. This is totally a guilty pleasure book for me, sort of Tijan ish but a bit younger and not centered in a high school but at home. Now I'm crossing my fingers hoping that book two is out as I haven't look yet.

4.5 Stars!

This book had its faults but none of that mattered by the end of the book. Why? Because I found myself crying more times than I expected, meaning I was more invested than I realized. The main character- I felt her pain, her worries, her doubts, her shame, her hopelessness; and I also felt her joys, her revival and her new found hope. Great supporting characters. Simple yet well rounded plot. Today was a day well spent. Thank you Billups.

City goth girl and five guys from a ranch. How cool does that sound? From the beginning I was hooked. Many sweet moments with characters that just grows on you.

Nova experienced some dark and hard times in her life but it all changed after one fatal mistake became all she needed to get what she wanted; a place to call home.

One of the characters, Jayden, could tone it down just a little with his pushy flirtation (borderline sexual harassment) but honestly I think there is a reason behind it.

I just hope Nova doesn't change her goth style.

Definitely reading more.

Nova is a great character. She's a broken girl who wants what everyone wants, someone to love her, but is afraid to let anyone in after everything that has happened to her. She gets thrown into the situation with this family who each have their own haunting past. I hope in the future we get to see what each of them have been through. There was a part of the book that brought me to tears and I wasn't expecting that. I really bought this book b/c it was .99 and RH. I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Finally a great book! Love, love, looovvveee this book! I can't stop thinking about it, especially those hot Cowboys!! Talk about yum. And the best part is I love each and every single one of those sex-appeal Cowboys! This book wants you to go to a rodeo, dance with the Cowboys, and most definitely..."save a horse and ride a HOT cowboy! Cannot wait till the next book! Overall, had fun reading it and will read it again!

I liked this story but I did find it slow and longwinded at times. I did find the story dragged out to longer than it needed to be. Yet 60% into this story this story went too fast and I was left wanting more.
I liked and disliked Nova. I wanted to shout at her to pick one guy and stick with her choice. She annoyed me how she went on a date with Dylan and then flirted/dated his brothers too. That being said, I saw chemistry between her and all of the hero’s/men.
I did like Nova’s bond/connection with Storm. I thought that was sweet.

Jaden – At first I couldn’t stand the arrogant fucker. His over the top flirting and harassment annoyed me. Yet as the story progressed, I grew to love him.

Gavin – pissed me off from the moment he was introduced. I understood his reasons at first but he went way to far. Although halfway through this story, I did start to like him.

Landon – I liked him, I liked his flirting and his sense of humour. My second favourite hero.

Dylan – he was sweet but his age like the others was never mentioned and that intrigued and bugged me. Although I liked Dylan, I don’t think he and Nova had anything between them.

Wyatt – I LOVED Wyatt. Although he was quiet the majority of the time, he intrigued me. I truly thought he and Nova suited one another and he was my favourite.

Is it bad that I wanted Nova to have a ménage and end up with all of them?!

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. After reading this book, I was left wanting more.

Ok, to be fair, I kind of gave up on this after the first page? So sure, maybe the rest of the book is way better, but the first page totally turned me off. It starts off with a woe is me story. Nobody understands me, nobody cares about me. Everybody hates me. I have dyed hair. I'm an edgy teenager.

...........................

Wtf?

There's a certain type of self-centeredness and arrogance that's needed to really think like that. Does this girl really think that she's the only person in the world to have problems? I mean, I'm not saying she's had a good life, but there are plenty of people with worst lives and instead of trying to make things better, she says f you to the whole world and runs off?!

Ok, quite honestly, I'm sure a lot of people think this way and that I might be an oddity to see the problem, but I just can't deal with a main character this shallow. Also, I don't really get the psychiatrists hate. That's they're job. They are there to make money and help you, you not them, work through your, again your's not their's, problems for your, last time your's not their's, benefit.
Why does she act like they're going to sell her information or something.

Anyways, maybe I'll go read this book again later on but I kinda doubt it. These types of characters just don't sit right with me.

I was going to DNF at 51%, but I decided to skim the second half just to see what would happen. This was a badly written book with a pretty good premise. I don't know why the author decided to make it a reverse harem. It was barely a reverse harem at that, so whether people hate RH or not, no one will be satisfied. Most of the guys were terrible love interests. Gavin was a horrible and cruel person, Dylan just blushed for the whole book and another brother (I can't remember his name and I read it last night) was a sexual harasser is every interaction with our MC. It's all just boring and no one reacts like a normal person. If you cut out the terrible attempts at romance it could be a good book, maybe.

Nova is a troubled youth who burns down a barn in her attempt to free a horse. As part of her punishment he gets sent to the ranch to help rebuild the barn. The family who lives at the ranch is in the habit of adopting troubled youth and lucky for Nova, the rest of them are hot guys.

This wasn't terrible, but every time I settled into the story something extra ridiculous happened. For instance to stop two of the boys from doing something dangerous, Nova takes her shirt off. Cuz, yeah. Things like that happened several times and even though I was able to finish this one, I don't think I will read any more.

Good but its been 2 years and no 2nd book

The book was good. I liked the plot and the different relationships between the protagonist and the 5 boys but where's the 2nd book? It's been 2 years since this book was published and the 2nd isn't out; although, the ending of this book has a preview of the next. It's frustrating. This didn't end on a cliffhanger, not really but just the fact that the author says the 2nd book is on its way gets a person excited and then disappointed after 2 years.
End of rant.

I keep coming back to this story

So I purchased this book back in 2016 and I keep rereading it. It still makes me laugh, cry, and feel a whole slew of other emotions and I'm happy to have found it when I did. I'm sad that I missed out on the publication of the second book for this series but that will not stop me from coming back home to this beautiful world. Thank you for making such a wonderful story and bringing me along for the wild ride with Nova and her boys, especially Storm and all of his beautiful brokenness.

I loved the beginning of this book and how it shows the bad in foster care situations. It makes the MC stronger and I can't wait for book 2!!!

3.5 stars.

This book is good, but there are constant changes in tenses and a lot of typos.

The second book in the series seems awesome, much better than this one, but I don't think I'll carry on reading. :/

Also, I'm not sure social workers can take foster kids in. At least, I'm not aware of such, and I should probably ask, since I'm currently in care (in England, that is).

Title: Broken Trouble
Series: Broken Storm, #1
Author: Kristan Billups
Cliffhanger:
Rating: 3 Stars
“I am beauty, courage, honor, hope and modesty. They are my steady hold, my purity, confidence, pride, and safety. Apart, we are broken. But together, we are whole again.”

When I read that this was going to be a reverse harem, I was hooked and couldn't wait to read it. All I needed to hear was that the heroine was young and troubled, and that there were multiple hot guys. But I was a bit disappointed when I finished it.
“You're looking for something you've already found. I'm right here behind you, just turn around. There's no need to roam, I'll be your home.”

The main heroine, Nova, was a strong female lead, which I liked a lot. She could stand up for herself and had an attitude that made her sassy and independent. The fact that she had a past only made it that more interesting. However, how quickly she connected with the guys, except for Gavin, was a bit unreal. I mean, she did burn down their barn and then came to live with them. To be honest, Gavin's reaction to Nova was the only one I felt was real (at least of the guys).
“There's no comfort I can give,
that will ease her pain,
and make her see that she's the
perfect storm”

Out of all the guys, my favorite was Wyatt. He was quiet and observant, always watching. He understood Nova the best. Jayden was too big of a flirt and sometimes went too far. It was practically impossible to have a normal conversation with him. And Dylan was just so shy and innocent... Landon was probably my second favorite. Always sweet and friendly.

All in all, the story was sometimes boring and I struggled with it. It lacked action. There were some errors but minor ones and I could look past them. The ending was good, and it didn't end on a cliffy, for which I'm really grateful. Also the acknowledgement was heartwarming and I loved it.
“It took you walking away for me to realize that I was wrong; you do care. We need you”
