The USA Today bestselling author of Outside the Lines once again explores love on the edge in an explosive new romance about obsession, betrayal, and a killer attraction.

Lee Delgado never planned on falling in love with the irresistible Oliver Savoca, son of a Chicago crime lord. Considering that their families are rivals, she knew it could never work. And now that both their fathers have been nabbed on racketeering charges, any real chance at a future with the man she loves has been shot to hell. But a greater blow is yet to come.

Not only does Lee learn that a contract is out on her life, she has reason to believe that Oliver is behind the devastating betrayal. Now she’s working closely—very closely—with Federal Agent Sean Callahan to help bring her man down. But however she’s come to feel about Callahan, Lee is still deeply, hopelessly, unabashedly in love with Oliver.

Where that fearless love takes Lee next is beyond her control—but the risk is worth every beat of her heart.

...it was always her. There's never been a woman who's captivated me the way she does. I was ready to turn my world upside down to find a way to make us work, despite the insurmountable obstacles.
But all she ever wanted was revenge.

This series is certainly picking up steam as it goes along and just gets better. Over The Line was an action-packed, sizzling hot ride from begging to end. Add in a splash of forbidden romance between two dueling mafia families, revenge, and a love in spite of it, and you've got yourself a recipe for an unputdownable read!
All along, I've thought I was becoming desperately lonely. But now, looking at him, I'm afraid maybe I'm just desperate.
For him.

First of all, I highly recommend reading this series in order. While you get plenty of background here, reading Outside the Lines will help put a lot of things in perspective as well as understand the secondary characters more.

The Delgado siblings had to uproot their entire life for Witsec when their Chicago crime lord father was put in jail. Now they've learned that there is a contract for a hit on them, and time is quickly running out. No one proves to be more dangerous than the man from Lee's past with an ax to grind and revenge to seek.

While all the Delgado siblings are struggling with their new personas, Lee is feeling it the most lately. She was on the road to a successful career in finance, and now she can't even put her illustrious university on her resume. But the one thing she seems to struggle with the most is her complete and utter loneliness. The one man that's she's ever gotten close to is the son of her family's biggest enemy and the person that she betrayed. While she finds herself growing attached to the agent in charge of her family's case, she still can't forget about Oliver

Oliver Savoca has one goal in mind; find Lee and get the pass code that may be the thing he needs to save his life. He knows that she's responsible for hacking the financial program their business uses and them bleeding money since. He just needs the passcode to set things right before his father finds out that he's responsible for allowing her to get that close to their business in the first place. But when he finally tracks her down, he knows that the passcode is only an excuse and his feelings for her are undeniable.

I enjoyed this book a whole lot more than it's predecessor. It was quicker-paced, a whole lot steamier and filled with quite a few twists and turns. Lee was a kick-ass heroine in her own right even if she did have me wanting to rip my hair out in frustration over some of her actions. I wasn't a fan of the way she pursued her connection with Sean. I don't mind a little love triangle, though I can't really call it that here. I almost felt bad for Sean with the way everything unfolded. But mostly I disliked this turn of events because I loved Oliver. He really lays his heart out for Lee and at times she almost stomps on it. That's not to say I hate it, it did add a certain element of angst that I enjoyed for the most part. But I could have done without the lust connection to Sean. It's personal taste thing and it is is what it is, you can't help how you feel.

The last 30% I found to be a bit convoluted and almost too much was happening. But ultimately it did the job of driving the plot for the future book as well, so I can't complain too much. There's quite a delicious set up for Grant, and I'm already salivating for his book.

Ultimately, this was a super sexy and entertaining read and I can't wait for the next installment in the series.
You are the only real thing I have left...
I've given up all the rest so I could have you. So don't tell me this isn't real, Lee. Nothing else is. Only this.

I'm going to be honest this book took me a lot longer finish then the first one. For one I thought this story started out a little on the slow side and nothing started to really happen until 40%.

To really understand this story I suggest reading book 1 before you start this one. Could it be read as a standalone? Yes, but even though Desrochers talks about their background in this story it really all starts with book 1.

Lee and Oliver had a relationship in college that started out as them trying to get information from each other but turned into so much more than either one of the expected. They started to work on project from class and sort of became friends before sleeping with one another. They fell in love and because of who their families are they knew it couldn't work. Lee did something before she left Oliver and before she ended up in witness protection program. It's been months but she hasn't forgot Oliver.

Oliver on the other hand has been looking for Lee for months. Finally he found a lead that has brought him to a little town in Florida. He wants Lee to give him the passcode to change the wrongs she did but he also came for another reason. No matter what he can't forget Lee and all that they shared. When he sneaks up on Lee and she shoots him he knows one thing that he loves her more than ever and now he is determined to find a way they can be together.

As I said before this book doesn't really pick up until 40% but also while reading the description of the book doesn't really match the book. For instance the blurb talks about Lee bringing down Oliver with agent Callahan but Callahan is literally mentioned 3 times during the entire book and doesn't make even appearance. I think the blurb was meant to be Wes who is the agent in charge of their witness protection. Lee and him get close but it has nothing to do with taking down Oliver, well not at first anyway.

As far as action goes compared to the first book this didn't really have anyone after them trying to kill them even though Lee and her family think that Oliver is. I felt this book was pretty tame for it being about two crime families from Chicago. I guess I was expecting a little more action and suspense.

The romance was there and there was also more sex scenes then the first book. I love how the author had the characters remember their time together during the story. I liked getting a glimpse into what their relationship was like before their fathers were sent to jail and before Lee ended up in the program.

From reading it looks like Grants book is next and honestly I'm dying to know where he goes and doesn't come home. I also want to know who the girl is at the end of book. It sounds like he had a relationship even when he didn't want one cause they are seen having a fight! Hopefully the next book is a little better and contains a little more suspense then this one did. *crosses fingers *

I was a huge fan of book one, Outside the Lines. With tons of passion and suspense, I knew that it was my kind of book and boy was I correct. And then that preview for this, well it's safe to say that I was on pins and needles for this book, Over the Line.

Lisa Desrochers has a faithful follower in me for her On the Run series. Full of steam, suspense, action, twists, turns, and drama, you are in for one heck of a ride. And the plus side of this series, each book follows in order and can be read as standalones.

This book was phenomenal. Fast, intense, and passionate, from the beginning you will be hooked. Lisa Desrochers grabs readers from the very start, weaving an intricate storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.

Chemistry. Fire. Lust. The steam in this book amplified from book one and ignited my e-reader. Suspense. Twists. Turns. This book will keep you on your toes as you desperately search for answers. Secrets. Lies. Deception. Who will come out unscathed?

I recommend this book and series.

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--OVER THE LINE is the second installment in Lisa Desrochers contemporary, adult ON THE RUN romantic suspense series focusing on the Delgado (aka Davidson) siblings. This is Lee Delgado, and Oliver Savoca’s story line. OVER THE LINE can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and history.

SOME BACKGROUND: Lisa Desrochers ON THE RUN series focuses on the once powerful and rich Delgado family-five siblings, in witness protection, whose father, currently in jail, is the head of one of the most powerful crime families in Chicago. After an attack that was intended to kill the family, the Delgado children –ages 9 to 25 years-are relocated to Florida with a new identity while their father continues to control things behind bars.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Lee and Oliver) OVER THE LINE follows the rekindling of a forbidden relationship between Lee Delgado and Oliver Savoca. The Delgado and Savoca families are rivals in the Chicago underground crime scene, and part of the reason the Delgado family is now in the Witness Protection program-far away from their father’s rival and the syndicate he runs. When Oliver Savoca locates the woman who stole more than his heart, the Delgado family find themselves preparing to run once again.

OVER THE LINE is a story line told using memories from the past and present day focusing on the previous relationship between Lee and Oliver; their need to uncover family secrets, to destroy one another’s lives, and a love that has never faltered between two college sweethearts. As Oliver finds himself facing down his potential future, the Delgado family faces a choice no one wants to make. Lee has something that Oliver needs to stay alive, but Lee isn’t willing to place her family in the direct line of fire-again.

The relationship between Lee and Oliver, both past and present, should never have happened, or been allowed. Oliver’s position and re-entry into the Delgado’s lives has placed everyone in danger, and Lee is more than willing to give Oliver a second chance even if it means losing her family in the process. I have to question some of the irresponsible actions of the story line heroine that made for some problematic moments and potentially controversial situations for her and her family-she is a woman whose earlier actions may have resulted in the present danger they are now facing….. but as I have said before, the story is meant to entertain, and I was ….entertained.

All of the previous story line characters, including the Delgado siblings, play a secondary and supporting role throughout. I am still having some issues with the eldest sibling Rob, and his treatment of his girlfriend Adri (Outside the Lines #1). Rob is so fixated on keeping the Delgado family safe, that Adri is constantly on the outside looking in, and the first to be thrown to the curb when something goes wrong.

OVER THE LINE is a slow build as Oliver and Lee find themselves fighting the push and pull of their earlier love. There is a slight ‘love triangle’ developing that our heroine continues to perpetuate throughout the story line, and this is problematic on so many levels. The world building continues to focus on the Delgado siblings, and their new lives in in the Witness Protection program. The premise is entertaining and impassioned; the characters are colorful and intense; the romance is passionate and hopeful. OVER THE LINE is an enjoyable and suspense filled read.

I looove forbidden romances, and I’m a sucker for them especially when the mafia is involved. So Over the Line should’ve been the perfect read for me – and while I enjoyed it, even more than the first On the Run book, it still wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for. Nonetheless, if you love books with action, suspense, chemistry, and the mafia, I would definitely recommend this one. And if you liked Outside the Lines, this sequel will be perfect for you!

Over the Line picks up right where Outside the Lines left off, only this time it’s Lee’s story. If you haven’t read the first On the Run book, I highly recommend doing so before starting this one. Lee may be the second oldest Delgado sibling, but she’s been the caretaker of her family ever since their mother died years ago. Now, with their father/mafia leader in jail and the Delgado children living in Florida as part of the witness protection program, they’re just trying to lay low and move on with their lives. But Lee’s past catches up with her in the form of an ex and her star-crossed love – Oliver Savoca, the son of the man who killed her mother.

“I love you, Lee. I have for a long time. I knew it before you left, but . . . I’ve never been in love before. I didn’t get how fragile it was. I should have told you.” He rolls his head at the room. “All of this . . . everything I’ve done since you left was done with the single-minded goal of finding you.”

Oliver and Lee met in grad school, where they were partners for a class. They both had their own agendas against each other, but late nights and some hot chemistry led to something more, something they didn’t expect but treasured all the same. That was, until Lee betrayed Oliver – but now he’s back and here to collect. But try as they might to remain enemies and on opposite sides of a brewing war, the feelings they had when they fell for each other the first time come rushing back. Now, it’s a constant wonder of, Do they still love each other, or don’t they? Do they trust each other, or don’t they?

“You are the only real thing I have left.” His green eyes darken and his gaze cuts to the heart of me. “I’ve given up all the rest so I could have you. So don’t tell me this isn’t real, Lee. Nothing else is. Only this.”

If you have problems with OW/OM drama, this probably won’t be the best book for you, but I honestly had no problems with it, even though I’m not a fan of that sort of thing. This might have been because I wasn’t completely invested in the romance like I hoped I would be. I really wish we could’ve gotten more of Lee and Oliver when they first met and fell in love – it would’ve made their romance in the present more believable, since they’re mainly operating on lust when they meet again. But I do have to say that the chemistry between these two is ON FIRE. Over the Line was much, much hotter than the first book, which was a pleasant surprise. And Oliver is one seriously sexy alpha-male – I loved how sweet and protective he could be because of Lee!

Overall, Lee and Oliver’s story is a solid second installment to the On the Run series. I might not have loved it, but I enjoyed reading it all the same. It was entertaining, suspenseful, and crazy hot – and the writing is just as incredible as it was in the first book. I’m really hoping for Grant’s story next!

I am loving the On The Run Series by Lisa Desrochers. This dynamic new series is quite different from most mafia themed series. It’s a series about a family, siblings in the witness protection program. Not only are they hiding from their enemies but they are also hiding from their own family. There is a power play within the family and they may be in the way. Their lives have been turned upside down. They’ve gone from privileged city kids from a powerful family to an ordinary middle class family in a small town on the west coast of Florida. In some ways their lives are on a better path, but in other ways it was an extreme sacrifice giving up loved ones, past educational accomplishments and careers. They are also all falling into a role of a parent for their younger brother Sherman. Each Delgado sibling gave up something. This is Lee Delgado’s story.

Lee Delgado was on a bright shining path. She was almost finished with her MBA in finance when she was forced into the witness protection program. Not only did she have to walk away from her educational accomplishments, she also had to walk away from the man she loved. That may be for the better because that man now holds a contract on her life.

Lee Delgado and Oliver Savoca should of never crossed paths. Their families are mortal enemies. Both families are vying for the ultimate power in the Chicago area. The Savoca family was responsible for the Delgado’s mothers death. War has been declared.

What started out as a way to extract revenge and retribution turned into a passionate love affair until Lee crossed the line. In her quest to destroy the Savoca family , she placed a price on Oliver’s head by his own father. Now he is seeking retribution.

Oliver Savoca has been brought up in a world of violence and retribution. He sees these archaic ways as an end to the modern day mafia. He’s studied finance and business. He wants to change his families ways in gaining power. The way to do it is through money. When Lee destroys everything he has worked for and breaks down his family dynamics, he knows it’s time for a change now. It all depends on Lee. He will hunt her down or die trying.

Lee Delgado and Oliver Savoca are the modern day Romeo and Juliet of the mafia world. Their secret affair goes beyond the mafia codes. The Delgado family will never accept their darkest enemy into the family. The Savoca family will kill them both before they allow their union.

When Oliver hunts Lee down and finds her in a sleepy town in Florida, the dynamics of their relationship begin to change. They may not survive the change but they will know where their true feelings lie.

When all secrets are revealed, the Delgado family is in for a shocker. The Savoca family will also be falling apart just as the Delgado family has.

The Delgado siblings are survivors. They have adapted to their new lives. They are building new hopes and dreams. They are finally free of the violent world they were born into. Now they just have to stay alive to fulfill those dreams.

I love this new series. It is intense, passionate, and emotional. Lisa Desrochers has tapped into each of the members of the Delgado family. Each sibling has their own story yet at the same time, they have one thing that remains their top priority…Family. There is danger and hopeless in every shadow but at the same time there is renewal and hope at the break of dawn each and every day.

I highly recommend the On The Run series. The first two books were fantastic. I can’t wait for the next book!

My Thoughts:

Over the Line is the second book in the On the Run Series, and is the story of Lee Delgado and Oliver Savoca. In book 1, Outside the Lines, we learned that the Delgado Family was in witness protection. Their father, Felix Delgado, the head of the largest and most powerful Sicilian mafia crime family, is serving time in prison. After an unknown enemy attempted to kill one of the Delgado siblings, they were relocated to Port St. Mary, Florida. The Delgado's have made a new life for themselves, but Lee can never forget the son of a rival mafia organization, Oliver Savoca.

Oliver and Lee met over a year ago in grad school. Lee believed that the Savoca's were responsible for the murder of her beloved mother, and so she plotted her revenge against Oliver. Simultaneously, Oliver planned to get close to Lee, as a means to extract information on the Delgado organization. A year later, Lee sabotaged the Savoca's gambling website, and if Oliver doesn't find her in enough time to fix it, he will be dead.

Lee has mixed feelings about Oliver. She grew to care about him, but knew that he was just using her as a means to get insider information. However, Oliver fell in love with Lee. He is determined to prove that he loves her, as well as getting to her in enough time to fix what she messed up; because he fears that his father will retaliate against him as well as Lee. Can he get Lee to trust him before it's too late, and Lee or himself end up killed?

Over the Line was a great continuation of the On the Run series. I grew more attached to the Delgado siblings, Rob, Lee, Grant, Ulie, and Sherm; and can't wait to read each of their stories. In this continuation, we get Lee's and Oliver's point of views. Lee is struggling to find her niche in Port St. Mary, and worries about the well-being of all of her siblings. She is a nurturer, and has a mothering quality about her.

Lee is bored and trying to find a job to keep her busy, but is struggling, due to the fact that she can't be honest about her qualifications and experience on her resume. In the meantime, Deputy U.S. Marshall Wes Buchanan has shown a romantic interest in Lee. He is a very good-looking nice guy, and Lee decides to give him a shot.

What we get is a very interesting dynamic where Lee is pulled in two different directions. She must face her feelings for Oliver Savoca and decide if she can trust him, or if she should move in a different direction with Wes Buchanan.

Over the Line was a riveting read. I was highly entertained, and on the edge of my seat with the escalating and suspense-filled plot. There were sexy times, high octane chemistry, and lots of swooning! The relationship with the Delgado siblings was realistic and one of my favorite aspects of the story. They fought like cats and dogs, but would do anything for one another. Grant's story should be next in the series, and Ms. Desrochers gave us the perfect ending that bridges this book to the next.
My Rating:

I give, Over the Line, by Lisa Desrochers, 4 Dangerous Suspense, Titillating Seduction, On the Run, Taking a Risk Filled Stars. Romance lovers that enjoy a suspenseful crime romance should check out the On the Run Series!

5 hot, action packed, sexy page turning stars
I read book 1, Outside the Lines, and loved it, so I knew Lee's story would be good too. But to my delight this installment was even better. It blew me away. The writing, the story, the chemistry, the characters, the suspense...but most of all the romance. Everything was ratcheted up a notch and it was a total home run.

Oliver Savoca. *swoon swoon swoon* Let me tell you, he is the main reason you need to read this book. He is sexy as f*ck all get out. And my god, his mind is filthy and It. Is. Glorious. He is crazy smart, in every way that matters. He is brave and fearless. He is also so honest about his feelings towards Lee that my heart couldn't help but flutter all over the place. A big, bad, strong (kind of violent) man confessing that he loves someone? *clutches heart*  I was in, so very in.

Then there's Lee Delgado. She was one of those heroines I just adored and wanted to either be, or have her be my best friend. She was absolutely kick ass. In the previous book I liked and disliked Adri...but Lee, I loved her the entire time, that never wavered, ever. She is resourceful, loyal to her family, brave, and also has a huge heart. She was epic!

On paper Lee and Oliver should never have gotten together, but fate stepped in and they met and could not resist one another. However, the reasons they stayed apart were not the reasons they should have, and once they opened up how they felt and trust was started it really was a beautiful thing. Then there was the sex. Let's just say it was hot whether or not they trusted each other and only got better and NEVER got old.

But what makes this a 5 star book for me? It's how I felt when I read it. I can't describe it except that I loved it and that is all due to the exceptional writing. The world building was so vivid. From the thick humid Florida air, to the cold streets of Chicago, to the hard planes of Oliver's body...ahem, you catch my drift. And then the suspense was written so smoothly, the details were fed like breadcrumbs leaving me wanting more and reading "just one more page". It was layered and planned out and executed brilliantly. Ms. Desrochers has serious talent and I will read everything she writes.

The ending was bumpy but fantastic. I knew I'd get my HEA, but it was a nail biter that was for sure. I loved it.

Rec this? Yes yes yes! If it's any indication that the books will get even better I cannot wait to read the next installment, which I am hoping is Grant's story. If you love mafia romantic suspense books this is a fantastic addition for your TBR.

Happy reading!

Following Outside the Line, the story picks up without gap switching perspectives to the next oldest in line, Lee. There are nice recaps woven throughout the narrative to ensure previous events are refreshed while continuing progression of both the characters and the plot.

Lee is buried under the wight of her decisions, regret holds her back from embracing her new identity. Highly intelligent with an affinity for numbers, Lee finds herself stuck without employment and unable to list her money laundering skills on her CV. It is quite humourous to think with her amazing skill set she isn't able to use her previous career to demonstrate her job experience.
It is soon obvious Lee has hidden a lot of her plans from the rest of her family. She puts her family before anything else, having been trapped in a lifestyle she didn't agree with, watching her father lose himself to revenge and drag her brother, Rob down with him. Lee made the decision to take control of the spiralling situation in order to prevent her other siblings from being forced into the same path. Hoping to regain control over their own lives without constantly living in the shadow of vendettas and revenge.
Over the Line has a star-crossed lovers feel to the narrative, with Oliver and Lee being from rival mafia families; drawn together initially in an effort to gather information to use against the other. They never counted on developing real feelings for each other. Trapped into lives dictated by the families they were born into with no hope of ever making a life independently from their mafia ties, the only way out death :( It's a difficult situation on both sides, the dual narrative was essential in aiding understanding both Lee and Oliver's actions, their quest to alter their destiny and still protect their family and each other.

Over the Line is a difficult story to review, the plot is jam-packed, the characters have such depth it is difficult to describe them accurately, believe me you can't help but support them in all their endeavours.

Over the Line examines identity within the narrative, the way our life experience and nurturing elements of our family (or lack thereof as the case maybe) affect the way we view not only ourselves but those we attempt to have a relationship with. I admired how self-aware both Lee and Oliver were, as well as the lengths they were willing to go to in order to assure the 'salvation' of themselves and their family. The quote by Alexander Graham Bell 'When one door closes. another one opens: ' fits beautifully to Over the Line and specifically Oliver and Lee's relationship. Over coming adversity, strengthening bonds and earning to trust all play their part in the plot in dramatic fashion.
I adored being able to see more of Rob and Adri although I wanted to smack Rob at times for reverting to his closed off persona, he had been doing so well *shakes Rob*

Over the Line takes the On the Run series to the next level, I cannot wait to see whose story gets told next and what they have in store ♥

I was looking forward for this story. It was like the modern Romeo and Juliet with a mob twist. This was hotter, sexier, a little more dangerous, and poses new sets of questions that will piqued your interest and keep you awake trying to discover it.

Theirs was a dangerous game of wills and who falls first. Both of them have hidden agenda why they want to get close to each other. It was never their plan to fall in love. So they try to resist what they feel for each other, considering that their families were great rivals, and both of them knew they would never work. Now that both of their fathers are in jail, trust has been broken and betrayals have been made – they don’t have any real chance at all.

Lee learns that there is a contract out on her life and her family’s, and she believed that Oliver is the person behind the betrayal. Now, she’s trying to live her life normally and working real close with Federal Agent Sean Callahan to help bring the love of her life down. But despite the fact that Callahan was a great man, she couldn’t help her heart – it still belonged to Oliver, and seeing him, touching him, and kissing him makes her life a little bit more complicated.

Would they ever get their second chance at love? Or would their past destroy their present and their future?

Reading this had my heart up in my throat. My nerves were running wild- and I wonder what will happen when Lee’s brother discovered what she did? Nevertheless, I love these two – it may have started out wrong. Their relationship was more than just a simple rollercoaster ride with all those ups, downs, twists and turns – and one would wonder if it will all work out? If it’s worth it? But having these two together inside the room, you can still feel the burning attraction and chemistry between them – so yes, I have always believed that they will have their second chance, and I was on the edge of my seat reading this one, crossing my fingers, hoping that Lisa would be kind enough to give me a great ending I have craved since I have learned about this two.

**Josie's Review 4.5 STARS**

Wow! What a ride! This book was even better than the first book. I loved the first one but this latest installment brought so much more suspense, mystery and drama. I love a good mafia book but when you add romance to the mix I am a goner. Over The line’s writing and action had me hooked from the very beginning all the way to the very end. I loved how the author handles this very unique love story and added a bit of a love triangle that kept me guessing to the very end.

Ever since I met Lee she’s became a favorite of mine. Lee is a strong leading character. She is feisty, fearless and loyal The Delgado’s are a crime family, they are tough but also have seen a lot and have been betrayed by the people who swore allegiance to them. Lee’s story with Oliver is not a sweet one, after all he comes from the very family that murdered her family and put a hit on her and her siblings. Meeting Oliver in college was the perfect way for her to exact revenge. Lee plans to make the Savoca’s pay for their crime.

Oliver, wow what can I say about him. His character was not what I expected. His plan was also to get information on the Delgado’s by going through Lee. But here is the thing right from the start Lee and Oliver had more of an attraction to each other. Oliver got lost in Lee and did not pay attention to what she was really up too. Oliver is running out of time, get to her before the Savoca’s do. He has a plan simple, easy but his plan is shot as soon as he sets his eyes on Lee again.

Lee and Oliver together was hot. They both have a lot of pain over the lies, betrayal, murders and secrets that have followed them over the years. Oliver has these really strong feelings for Lee and being around her only intensifies his need to make her his. The banter between them was crazy, enjoyable and funny. These two had a connection that even when they tried to fight those feelings, I felt it on every page. I really loved them together. Being with Oliver is not an easy choice for Lee, after all he is not the only one vying for Lee’s heart.

Lee and Oliver realize there is more to them that just their painful past, but to be together they will both to have betray their families. Oliver will have to try and make it safe for Lee in a world intent on eliminating all the Delgados. Can Lee and Oliver find a way to make it work? Will Lee’s relationship with Oliver bring the danger home to her and her family? Will Lee’s family get over the love she has for a Savoca or will she have to choose? This was a great follow up book, it is filled with so many twist and turns, every time I thought things would go one way the author switched it up and added more excitement to the story. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. I am hoping it is Grant’s story.

When I first saw Over The Line I was completely intrigued. I’ve been on a small mob/mafia kick lately with Katee Robert’s O’Malley’s series so I figured Over The Line would be right up my alley. Add in the fact that it’s New Adult and I was completely on board. What I didn’t realize was that it’s the second in a series, but thankfully it’s a standalone series! I really hate reading a series out of order but thankfully I never once felt like I missed something by not reading Outside The Lines first.

Lee is one of my favorite types of heroines. She’s strong with a bit of spunk. She has a strong sense of self which I find lacking in a lot of New Adult heroines. I felt so much for her and her situation though. She’s the daughter of a crime lord and gods only know how tiring that can be. Her mother was killed when she was younger and she always knew that she wanted to get back at the rival family who ordered the hit. When she gets to college and meets Oliver who just happens to be the son of the family that had her mother killed it was like fate was shining down on her.

I loved Oliver! Seriously, loved him. He never really questioned his standing in his family’s business but knew he wanted to take it in another direction. He wanted to be smarter. He knew not everything could be muscle-based, there needed to be smarts behind the family’s actions. So with his business degree he sets out to do just that, especially now that he’s in charge because his father is in jail. What he wasn’t expecting was Lee.

Lee and Oliver both went into their relationship using each other. It was never about wanting to truly get to know each other and form a connection, a meaningful relationship. Lee wanted to get back at Oliver’s family and Oliver wanted information to help bring Lee’s family down. But as time went on their ulterior motives fell to the wayside and they actually fell in love with each other. This was mostly told in flashbacks which I enjoyed. Usually that kind of storytelling bores me but Lisa Desrochers made it work. I just really bought into their love story. It was hard and there were definitely times they made me want to pull my hair out, but it felt real to me.

Over The Line may have been my first Lisa Desrochers book but it surely won’t be my last. I loved getting to know these characters and getting into this world. From over the top Mafia situations to finding that person you know you’re meant to be with, Over The Line fit nicely in my reading preferences. I cannot wait for the next book and to go back and read the first book!

Review: 3 out of 5 stars

I am a huge fan of Lisa Desrochers A LIttle Too Far series so when I saw this book on Netgalley I instantly requested it not realising that it was the second book in the series (oops); but I never at any stage found it confusing or hard to follow.

Lee Delgado and her siblings had to move from Chicago to Port St. Mary, Florida and enter the Witsec program when their mafia father was put in jail. Always looking over their shoulders knowing there is a contract on their heads they lay low and have only each other to trust.

When Oliver Savoca, also the son of a Chicago crime lord locates Lee after months of searching; her whole life is about to become undone because her family have no idea that she had a relationship with her enemy during her time in college and after betraying his trust she believes that he has come for revenge.

The Delgado and Savoca families are rivals in the Chicago underground scene, a life that they have all grown up with and are struggling to adapt to life away from crime.

Lee was an interesting character, she is strong, intelligent and resourceful; there were a number of secrets that she was hiding from her family that I felt could have been dealt with differently but I understood her predicament also. I liked Oliver but I don’t feel like we got to see much of them as a couple; it all progressed very quickly without learning to trust one another again, he did seem to show her how much he cared in his actions but I still couldn’t tell whether or not he could be trusted.

I liked each of the Delgado siblings, they all seem to struggle with their new personas but I feel more so Lee because of the role she played in putting her father in jail. I am really curious about Grant; I am looking forward to reading his book and learning more about him.

We also have an additional love interest, Wes Buchanan who is an officer in charge of looking after the Delgado family; I don’t feel the added romance/angst between him and Lee was needed, she treated him pretty crappy. It seemed like he was added in for additional drama.

This wasn’t an action packed novel; there were flashbacks to the past and discussions of the future, it worked well but I would have loved a bit more edge of your seats ‘mafia’ moments. I thought the steamy moments and the characters interactions were all written well as was the POV’s from both Lee and Oliver.

The ending was satisfying but very rushed and predictable; I am looking forward to reading the next book in the On the Run series.

Thank you to Intermix via Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review Over the Line.

I have not read the first book in this series, but I could totally pick this one up and follow right along and not be lost. Although, I am anxious to go back and read the first book to see what all lead up to where we start off in this book.

This story is about the Delgados children who are on the run. They have entered witness protection since their father got sent to jail and their mother was killed. Wes is in charge of their case as far as the witness protection goes. Lee is a young lady that is looking to get a job and try to out her life back together a little and get back to some normalcy since entering the program. Lee has applied for several jobs with no luck because she doesn't have any experience to put on her resume. When Lee gets a break and one of her friends tell her about a position that she knows about that is in accounting, Lee takes it even though her degree is in computer science. Lee just wants to have something to occupy her time.

Wes has been a good person for Lee to talk to and he is always looking to her for leads as to how her brother is doing as far as the program goes. Wes has to make sure they are not giving away their position and that they are doing what they are supposed to so that he can keep their location undercover. When Wes and Lee start to develop feelings for each other, it sort of complicates their relationship for a bit, but they soon fall into a comfortable zone and learn how to manage their relationship.

When Lee has a surprise visitor one day, she is so shocked that she ends up shooting him without even thinking. Oliver is a young man that Lee meet when she was in college and they both ended up using each other for information. When Lee took off with something that Oliver wanted, he continued to look for her even after she entered the witness protection. When he finally finds her and Lee shoots him, she also has to nurse him back from his injury. While she is nursing Oliver, she keeps him tied up in her room and hopes that no one will see him, but eventually her brother finds out about him. Lee and Oliver had developed feeling for each other while they were working with each other in her college years and Lee is certain that Oliver is her one true love. She can't stop thinking about him. When Oliver is taken out of Lee's way, what will happen then? Will Lee rely on Wes even more and turn to him for comfort? You need to read this mofia story to find out. I thought that there could have been a little more action for a mafia story, but overall this was a good read. Took me a little bit to get into the story but once it picked up it was good!

Over the Line is the second book in the On the Run series by Lisa Desrochers. While this book could technically standalone, I wouldn't recommend it. Lisa Desrochers does give some of the backstory here, but I think in order to really get the full history and enjoyment out of this book it should be read after the first in the series, Outside the Lines.

Over the Line is Lee Delgado's story. She never planned to fall in love with Oliver Savoca, especially since he was the son of a Chicago crime lord that just happened to be her family's rival. Having to run to protect their family, Lee and her siblings head to Florida in the witness protection program. But when Lee learns that there is a contract on her life, all signs point to it being Oliver and she must work with a federal agent to bring him down. But as she grows closer to Sean the agent while working with him, she can't help but realize that she is still in love with Oliver, despite his betrayal.

Lee and Oliver's story was one I couldn't wait to get my hands on after first learning about them in Outside the Lines. I love forbidden romance stories, and theirs was one that I knew would be interesting since they never should have been with one another. Their families were rivals, giving them a bit of a Romeo and Juliet sort of story and I definitely wanted to know more. I will say that I wish we had been given a bit more of their backstory though, as I would have loved more of their past. Lee and Oliver were hot, and there was definitely more heat in this story than there was in the first despite this one being a bit of a slow build. The other thing I will warn readers about here is that there is a bit of a triangle going on here, so if that is something you dislike you might take that into consideration.

All that being said though, I am enjoying this series. It is a bit on the slow side at times, but I think that these books are worth the read. I like the characters a lot and I find them all very interesting. I think that if you can stick with these through the slow parts that the series is one a lot of readers will enjoy. Lisa Desrochers delivered suspense and steam and this one entertained me, even if I didn't absolutely love it. I look forward to reading more from Lisa Desrochers and continuing this series. If you are looking for something with some suspense and heat, I would recommend giving this series a shot.

I had loved Lisa Desrochers first book in this On the Run series—Outside the Lines. Rob and Adri’s story was exciting and fun. This second book—Over the Line—was even better.

I had liked Lee Delgado/Davidson from the first book. She came off as the responsible older sister, who had managed her father’s mob books back in Chicago and now manages the family while in witness protection. But there is so much more to Lee than meets the eye. Now I love her.

Growing up in a mob family has a way of making a person not trust others, of making the first thing that jumps in one’s mind after getting burned is revenge. And Lee is no different. She seeks revenge against the Savoca family—the rival mafia family Chicago—for killing her mother and had attempted this revenge in the most interesting way.

She and Oliver Savoca attended college together and ended up in a class. Oliver is known for his relationships with people in attempts to get information from them to put his family at an advantage. So, when he flirts with Lee, she’s quite aware of his motive. But her heart is set on revenge and she thinks what better way than to use Oliver for information and set up. What neither of them bargained for was falling in love.

What I loved most about Lee and Oliver’s story was the sincerity. Yes, trust was an issue for them, but there was no denying the love that bloomed between them or how unexpected it was for both of them. Raised to hate each other and yet can’t seem to tear apart from one another.

When Oliver sneaks back into Lee’s life while she and her family are under witness protection, Lee doesn’t quite know what to do. Oliver is her family’s rival and she knows her brother Rob will kill him to protect them. But Lee loves him and eventually believes that he wasn’t sent there to hurt her or her family. Can they build the trust needed for a real relationship to survive? That is the question and I’m so happy to know the answer.

Ms. Desrocher hit this story out of the park. It was fun. It was exciting. It was touching. It was sexy. The chemistry between these two was incredible. She even added a second possible hero—Wes—the federal agent assisting Lee’s family in witness protection to make the reader flipping and flopping around as to who is best for Lee. (I do hope Wes eventually gets his story. He’s a good guy.) I loved Over the Line.

I've been eagerly anticipating this second book in the On The Run series and Ms. Desrochers doesn't disappoint with this forbidden romance.

Lee Delgado/Davidson was one semester away from obtaining her Master's degree. She's bored and frustrated with her new life and craves everything she's left in Chicago including the man she had a secret relationship with. So when he turns up unexpectedly after tracking her and her family down, she takes matters into her own hands.

Oliver Savoca has never forgotten Lee Delgado...she's forbidden fruit. His family murdered her mother but this woman that got under his skin double-crossed him too. He's after revenge and needs to find her before his own family turn on him. Only, nothing goes according to plan.

Written from a duel point of view – Lee and Oliver's story includes flashbacks to when they first met in college and some of the time they spent together that year. Back in the present, the electrical sparks of sexual attraction between them are still present, re-igniting feeling they both had to repress.
Lee is a tough woman, yet her devotion to her family is ever present as she's the glue that keeps them together...almost. Oliver, despite coming from a Mafia family wants to steer away from what his family represents because he wants to be able to have a life with the woman he loves.

I enjoyed that we got to catch up with Rob and Adri and gain a little bit more insight into the twins as they find their own ways of dealing with their new life in Witness Protection. Especially with this book the author really draws you into this intense, sexy and emotional story.

After reading Outside The Lines, I was hooked! I don't normally like Mafia/gang stories, yet I want to continue this journey with Rob, Lee, Grant, Ulie, and Sherm. What can I say? I loved Over The Lines and can't wait for the next instalment.

Lee and Oliver met when they were in college and though they should never even have gotten together, when love and lust are involved, there's really no rhyme or reason that can sway them. Both Lee and Oliver and their respective families have lost a great deal, and after everything that's happened, you would think that the best thing was for them to simply stay away from each other. But Oliver has set his sights on finding Lee, and he doesn't care that she and her siblings are now in WITSEC. He's prepared to do whatever it takes to come face to face with Lee, but what's his real purpose in seeking her out? Is it simply to see the woman who altered his life irrevocably, or could it be for a far more sinister purpose? And what happens when all their secrets come to light and the fact that Lee is keeping company with someone new?

I'm beginning to think that the women in this series are the sticking point when it comes to me fully falling in love with the books. I wasn't a huge fan of Adriana Wilson's in Outside the Lines and same goes for Lee Delgado. I'm not saying that Lee was this terrible person. A lot of my frustration with regards to her has to do with how she treated Wes Buchanan, a deputy with the US Marshals Service. It was clear that he had deeper feelings for her than she did for him, but she should have been more upfront with him instead of what I felt was her stringing him along. It was a selfish move on her part, since it came off as her using him. I liked Oliver so, in a way, I'm glad that he gets his happily-ever-after in this sequel, but I hope that Wes finds happiness as well. Maybe with Ulie Delgado, right? Overall, Over the Line was a good, four-star read. ♥

Over the Lines is the second novel in the On the Run series . It picks up right where Outside the Lines ended . I would recommend you checking out the first one before reading this one . Lisa has a new spin on the mafia genre . I’m a sucker for forbidden romances . And seeing this one with the whole Juliet and Romeo aspect is a great treat .

Lee is the second oldest sibling in the Delgado family . She is the mother to her other siblings , always taking care of them and being there for them . But they have to band together once they find their selves in witness protection . The past doesn’t stay hidden forever .

Lee has a past she doesn’t want to come back but it finds its way in her house . The one person she thought she left back in Chicago finds their way back to her . One she didn’t let her other siblings find out she had a connection with . One she loved and never let go .

Oliver , the son the Chicago crime lord , he always gets what he wants . And for a brief time it was Lee . He had her . wanted her . Now he found her . Both loved each other in secret . Both living with the regret of their choices they’ve done . But they seem to always find their way back to each other .
I didn’t put this down for a second when I picked it up . You don’t have to read the first one , Outside the Lines because Lisa did an exceptional job of adding the details in On the Run to keep you in the loop . But it is a great book to read . I give this 4.5 stars . Check out both books in the series . You will not be disappointed . If you are a Romeo and Juilet fanatic with a mafia twist , this is a match for you .

The action packed story of the Delgado family is back and this time we get to see Lee’s story! Over the Line is a mafia meets Romeo and Juliet type story, one that bounces from the past to the present, giving the reader the full scope of what happened then and what is happening now. When I first started to read this book I was worried it would turn into a love triangle story but there is one thing I can say with certainty. Lee’s heart is taken, even when she did not recognize it. Seeing the past and how it is triggered by the present makes everything fall into place quite nicely for the reader. This is a story of passion, one that is forbidden and dangerous. There are choices to be made and the right one is not always easy to find.

There are several plot twists that I do not want to spoil, so I will not go into detail of what happens. However, this book is high on the danger scale and very high on the lust spectrum. I was surprised how much sex there was but when you get to know Lee it makes a bit more sense. She is a woman who knows what she wants and is not shy about taking it. She is fierce. Her sacrifice and determination to protect her family no matter the cost is honorable. You learn a lot about what went down in Chicago and the chain of events that led them to where they are now. I was surprised at what happened but then when I took everything in as a whole, it made perfect sense.

Over the Line is another suspenseful story to add to the series and I am excited to see what happens next. I am really hoping it is Grant’s story. That boy is a mystery! The Delgado’s are a mix of exuberant personalities and I am enjoying watching their stories unfold!

This had me hooked from the beginning. It's a great mafia Romeo/Juliet triangle type romance! Although the actual dynamics of the book were a bit confusing at first, the author did a very good job of explaining what was going on since I had not read book 1. And here I go to get book 1. Because I bet that book was great too!

We have a family on the run, the Delgados, the children of a mob boss who is in prison. The are in Witness Protection and have finally settled down in Florida, but are constantly looking over their shoulder because a contract has been put out on their lives. Lee Delgado is our heroine. She is smart, looking for a job as an accountant, but has a degree in computer science. She has single-handedly put her family in this situation, but they don't know it. However, she is the most loyal woman ever. She is interested in someone guarding her, Wes.

Oliver Savoca, on the other hand, is after her to get back what she took from him. But it is different for him. They dated for a time and while they were using each other, the situation may or may not have gotten real for both or either of them. He wants what he took AND her.

This book was great and filled with touching moments. I did feel that the end kind of went on for too long. The last 20% could have been condensed a bit, which is why I lowered it a star for me, but I would still recommend this book.

3.5 stars. Lee and Oliver were bred to be enemies. Their fathers held opposing interests. In fact, Oliver's dad killed Lee's mom. In the world of the mafia, it's all supposed to be a blood feud. The pair end up going to school together and what starts out as them trying to gain an advantage of over each other culminates in a very passionate affair. Only the agenda wasn't done for one of them and now the other needs to rectify the situation. When they finally reunite after the ordeal of the last book, it's explosive and in more ways than one. I won't pretend that what happened feels all that believable but it served well enough for entertainment. The circumstances under which they spend time together didn't really sit well with me. The sexy scenes and anticipation were done very well. The characters are definitely complex and unique. The pacing when the big "love" reveal happens seems to occur as almost a non-event after such resistance to it, I expected more. The family situation was sensitive but eventually they find their way. All in all a good read with an interesting and complex plot. Safety: No abuse/rape/sharing. I don't remember them using any condoms.

I'm really enjoying this mafia series a lot. Lee Delgado never planned on falling in love, much less with a son of a crime lord. Especially Oliver Savoca, who is from a rival family. Now that both of their fathers have gotten popped for racketeering, there isn't a chance in the world for them to be together. If these obstacles aren't daunting enough, Lee finds out about a contract on her life, and she's pretty sure Oliver is behind it. She is forced to work with Federal Agent Sean Callahan super closely to take out the man she loves. And even though she and Sean have grown closer, Lee can't get Oliver out of her heart.

I have recently started really getting into mafia type stories, and the On the Run series is highly addictive. The character development is really good, with an exciting, originally spun, and well written storyline that flows smoothly. Lisa Desrochers' talented writing style has twists & turns swirling constantly, and it makes for some serious OMG moments. And Over the Line kept my heart racing cover to cover. Plus a bonus is finding what her older brother is up to now. I cannot wait to read more of this series, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Wow! So happy with how this series is moving. The first book had some suspense in it, but this one had me turning pages fast wanting to see where it was going. Nice twist and surprises!

Love Lee's character. Such a nurturer but fiercely protective of her family. Liked the back story between her and Oliver. I like the overarching theme of family that the author has run throughout the book. The Delgado's may have grown up in a crime family but it doesn't diminish the fact that they love fiercely and stand for each other no matter what happens. Family is also not always those of your blood. Sometimes it’s those we chose to let in. And sometimes, even if they are blood, we do everything in our power to not associate with them.

I have a feeling each book will be more and more intense as the Delgado's get closer to finding the person who put a hit out on the family. Great read! Love the author. Can't wait to see who has gotten under Grant's skin!

Four point five Action Packed Stars! This is the second book in the On the Run Series and can be read as a stand-alone novel. Lee is a strong, brave female who is very close to her family. Oliver is sexy, smart, brave and is in love with Lee. Oliver and Lee are star crossed lovers but when they finally met they could not resist each other. They are from rival mafia families so they are forbidden to be together. What will happen between Oliver and Lee, two lovers meant to be together but living in the mafia world, can they have their happily ever after? The author writes an action packed, suspenseful and romantic story that draws you in from the first page. I was on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen next. I highly recommend it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

After book one, I was hoping this one would have more of a Godfather/Goodfellas vibe going on, and I caught glimpses, but it still left me wanting more.

Lee is strong, intelligent, and loyal almost to a fault. I didn't always agree with the choices she made, but I could understand why she was making them. She owned her mistakes and did what she could to rectify them. I can totally respect that.

Oliver Savoca pulls off tall, dark, and dangerously sexy so much better (and way more believable) than Rob, but what I liked best about his character was how he kept me guessing. Not being 100% sure whose side he was really on had me turning the page.

The ending, while satisfying, was a bit predictable. Based on the events in the final chapter, I'm guessing Grant's story is next, followed by Ulie's, hopefully.

Like I said before, if you like crime dramas that are heavy on romance and light on violence, definitely give this series a shot.

Lee gets her own story! I was so excited when I realized this was going to be Lee's book. I already thought I had the story figured out in my head as to where it was going to go. Boy was I wrong. In my mind Lee was going to end up with a totally different person that where this story went.

Lee and Oliver are your modern Romeo and Juliet. They are sworn enemies. Oliver's dad is the man who killed Lee's mom. Right there, I don't think I could be with a person who's family killed anyone in mine. But, I guess this is normal in the mafia world. This is a forbidden romance at it's most forbidden. The couple is nothing short of explosive and harbor many feelings against each other.

I liked this story. I really thought from the blurb it was going in a whole other direction. I could not get that idea out of my head and kept waiting for it to happen. It never did.

The Romeo/Juliet, forbidden romance aspect of this book was the first thing that caught my eye. I love the idea of two people finding love, even with the greatest of obstacles thrown in their path. And Lee and Oliver faced some pretty insurmountable obstacles. The children of warring Chicago Mob families, the two never should have become friends, let alone lovers. But that's exactly what happened.
While I find it hard to believe Lee could have hidden Oliver for so long, I'm willing to just go with it because the story was just so well executed. I was able to understand Lee's feelings, and her motivations. I loved Oliver and the way he fought for Lee and the possibility of a life together. As a reader, I was rooting for them to just work thing out, already!
This is the second book in a series, and the secondary characters - Lee's family - were intriguing enough that I will likely pick up others in the series.
