Avery Shaw’s life is a mess – and that’s putting it mildly.

Funniest yet!
I wasn't even 12% into the story before I was laughing out loud. Actually, I pretty much laughed throughout the whole book. I love how this series deals with serious issues (rape, drugs, and murder this time) but uses Avery's uncontrollable mouth and her completely certifiable family to keep things irreverently funny. I adore Avery and Eliot together and enjoy their witty banter. In this story, we really get to see how much Avery has grown. We also get a better idea how those around her feel about her. The story had plenty of mystery and action and chemistry. I loved it and had a blast reading and laughing my way through Avery's adventures.

Misquoted & Demoted begins with Avery being put in the sports section. She's depressed and angry because she knows it is Tad who made this happen. But she's going to do what she can to get him back, and to get her regular job back. Avery is also trying to avoid Jake after certain things that happened in the previous book, then add in the fact that she seems to be getting more comfortable with her boyfriend and taking him in to consideration more often, and you have a wonderful book with the main character growing as a person.
I thought this book rocked! It had an amazing story line, and Avery is turning out to be an awesome character. Then I loved her and Eliot together as well. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book now, and how she handles life with Eliot.

Best book in the series!! I loved this book. Avery Shaw has grown up just enough to make her perfect. She is forthright and assertive but in a mature way. Yes she still loves, Star Wars and video games, still wears obnoxious tees and super hero sneakers; but she has subtly changed. On double secret probation Avery is sent to Sports as punishment. We have to wonder if they are punishing the Sports staff as well.
Of course she stumbles onto a much bigger and dangerous story and with some unexpected help she solves the case without getting killed. Her relationship with Elliot is still strong and her cousins are becoming less trouble and more supportive.
The book gives the reader a real behind the scenes view of a small town newsroom. The characters seem like caricatures but if I haven't worked with these people or followed them on Twitter (A.L. we should talk), I have worked with their east coast cousins. If I never heard about agate or taking sports scores again I could die happy.
This book tackles a difficult subject that needs to publicized; bullying, hazing and sexual assault in high school. And the recommendation of Heathers as a great subversive teen movie made my day.

I Love Avery Shaw
I have been eager to read the next Avery Shaw book. I love her sense of humor and laughed out loud at her take on high school wrestling. This book does show Avery making some changes and being more aware of how her actions impact the people who care about her. I really like all the characters and love the interactions she has with the people in the newsroom as well as her mom and other family members.
The romantic relationship continues to grow. It is a very hot relationship but the author does not go into details which sometimes makes it even better. I love their banter. She and her ex are finally being honest with one another and I do wonder where that will go.
I have read many of this author's books and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. I can't wait for more releases.

this is laugh out loud funny. I literally kept laughing through the entire book. I love the Aver Shaw series, but this one is the best one yet - full of snark and great humor.

I enjoyed this book and am glad to see Avery Shaw is back at doing what she does best annoying everybody until she gets her way ummm.....I mean story. This was a fun mystery that certainly kept me guessing and I liked the way the author spiced up the story by taking her out of her element but she still manages to find a good story. Avery as a character has grown as the series has progressed and she might still be rude and condescending but it is her and not nearly as annoying or childish as it was with the first couple of books. It will be interesting to see what the author has in store for her next.
Avery has gone to far this time and even her sort of friendship with the editor can save her from being demoted from crime reporter to junior sports reporter. Everybody there hates her and to make matters worse she hates it too and isn't afraid to let everyone know. Sitting in the bleachers and watching teenagers run around with a ball and not to mention the lousy food isn't her idea of fun. Especially as it also means working nights and not spending quality time with her boyfriend Eliot. Things one pick up when a girl is found dead on the football field but she isn't even allowed to cover that story. Good job Avery doesn't listen to anyone. Can she find out what happened to the girl? At least on the sports beat means she is making contacts and is The thick of the action.
The narrator is a good choice for the character, as she rest the best snarky impression going.

I’ve read some of the other reviews for this book and I wholeheartedly agree that this is the best book yet in this series. I do enjoy Avery’s antics and her smart-mouth, but it gets old and I see her as completely childish and that bothers me.
In this book, Avery shows that she is maturing and growing in her relationship with Eliot. Heck, she nearly told him she loved him at the very end, but instead she said she really “likes” him. I believe the next book will have the couple confessing their love for one another.
This read dealt with some very serious issues (drugs, sexual assault, and bullying) and I admit that even though Avery didn’t handle some of the situations the way she should have, she showed her strength by standing up to the bullies themselves for the sake of the girls who were victimized. Bravo, Avery. I would definitely want Avery on my side due to her loyalty and, heck, her fighting skills. Lol.

Avery is such an interesting character at is a walking dichotomy. She's smart and does really stupid things. She's selfish yet goes out of her way to right wrongs and help others. She can talk her way of of issues yet talk her way right back in. She's so loyal, yet lies constantly. I love how throughout the series you can see her growth. Her character makes me laugh. Elliott is a saint. Derrick is a little to hard in her. Jake is awesome. Doing a re-read right now and had forgotten who the killer was.
Highly recommend series. Reading in order will enhance, but is not required. Some spice, closed door, but sexual references are made throughout since book one.

I will rate this book as an 9. Because the character were like real people. No some hero cop or lonely damsel. And the antagonistic were excellent. Bullying teens, self centered politicians, and even harried editors. Have read three of AVERY books and they keep me interested. Sorry to say I finish one a day so guess I have to read all. But will change up to some of the others also
Recommend this to all that like a little HUMOR with a splash of mystery in it. Or the other way around.

great reading!
I love the characters in this entire series. Each book they become more real and, certainly, entertaining. There’s nothing better than a mystery with a good chuckle. Avery is so sassy that she makes me jealous. Her family is hilarious but believable. Jake is just the right amount of protective and caring to be an ex. Eliot is perfect for our bold and sassy heroine. I have recommended Amanda’s books, en- masse, to many of my friends.

Another awes9me Avery book
The stories are getting good better and better each time. But just once I wish Avery had mace or a teaser to use whenever she is cornered by criminals! It would be great for my anxiety . I think she brought that gun back in book 1 for show and tell ! Overall I hope once I reach book 10 that there would be more.

Finally, progress!
I enjoy how this series progresses. Each one is better than the last, written well and the characters develop in a surprisingly complex way. Avery is a good anti-hero in the beginning of the series and as it goes on not only do you see growth, you see a some backsliding too--which is refreshingly realistic

This book was amazing but hard at times due to the sexual assault aspects. You can’t help but hate some of the boys/men in it.
Avery grows so much in this as does her cousin. Really falling in love with all the characters.
I also laughed so much during this read my husband was wondering what was going on 😂

Just fun - these are light & funny. Avery Shaw will get on your nerves at times, but in the end her heart is usually in the right place and she ALWAYS gets her story! More like 3.5 stars, but I rounded it up! Free on Kindle Unlimited.

THE BEST SO FAR
I really like Avery Shaw. I, also, like the fact that she unapologetically tackles problems that many try to sweep under the rug. She doesn't ever sweat the small stuff.

I love Avery Shaw!! She just can't seem to keep herself out of imminent danger it's not possible. This book was such a great read I took my kindle everywhere to finish it. A must read!

GREAT BOOK !
i have read dad sevreal of of the Avery Shaw mysteries. She has a unique very funny. laugh out loud sense of humor which i find very entertaining. Can not wait to read more

Great Read
Most entertaining series of books I've read since JD Robb In Death books. I recommend you read the series in order as I've really enjoyed how the characters have developed and grown.

A bit more to unravel and a heavier topic to the crime for sure!
This book covers more touchy topics but not graphically so. Still in the same great avery shaw fashion. All in all another great book.

As disturbing as this book is, I found Avery the perfect sounding board to offensive female teenage bullies. She perfectly put then in their place. Great book and storyline!
