It's the night before Halloween, the night before SABRINA's sixteenth birthday, the night of the blood-moon and the lunar eclipse, and SABRINA has made her decision: She will go into the woods of Greendale as a half-witch and emerge... on the other side of a frightful ritual... as a fully baptized member of the Church of Night. But there will be a cost, and his name is HARVEY. And unbeknownst to SABRINA and her aunts, there is a serpent in the garden, their great enemy MADAM SATAN, conspiring against them...
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is an American playwright, screenwriter, and comic book writer best known for his work for Marvel Comics and for the television series Glee, Big Love, Riverdale, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He is Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics. Aguirre-Sacasa grew up liking comic books, recalling in 2003, "My mom would take us out to the 7-Eleven on River Road during the summer, and we would get Slurpees and buy comics off the spinning rack. I would read them all over and over again, and draw my own pictures and stuff." He began writing for Marvel Comics, he explained, when "Marvel hired an editor to find new writers, and they hired her from a theatrical agency. So she started calling theaters and asking if they knew any playwrights who might be good for comic books. A couple of different theaters said she should look at me. So she called me, I sent her a couple of my plays and she said 'Great, would you like to pitch on a couple of comic books in the works?'" His first submissions were "not what [they were] interested in for the character[s]" but eventually he was assigned an 11-page Fantastic Four story, "The True Meaning of...," for the Marvel Holiday Special 2004. He went on to write Fantastic Four stories in Marvel Knights 4, a spinoff of that superhero team's long-running title; and stories for Nightcrawler vol. 3; The Sensational Spider-Man vol. 2; and Dead of Night featuring Man-Thing. In May 2008 Aguirre-Sacasa returned to the Fantastic Four with a miniseries tie-in to the company-wide "Secret Invasion" storyline concerning a years-long infiltration of Earth by the shape-shifting alien race, the Skrulls, and an Angel Revelations miniseries with artists Barry Kitson and Adam Polina, respectively. He adapted for comics the Stephen King novel The Stand.
In 2013, he created Afterlife with Archie, depicting Archie Andrews in the midst of a zombie apocalypse; the book's success led to Aguirre-Sacasa being named Archie Comics' chief creative officer.
In the third issue, Sabrina is getting ready for her unholy baptism. It was quite a thing, and didn't go as planed. The cliffhanger at the end leaves you wanting for more.
This is another great installment of Sabrina! This particular one seemed somewhat darker to me than the previous two, but I actually liked that about it. It was pretty refreshing. This episode is all about Sabrina preparing to be baptised and a blood moon is involved, too. It gets all rather excitingly gory, and without spoiling anything, things turn quite bloody. Harvey has more of a role in this, and there is much focus on his relationship with Sabrina, and his want to take things up a notch, but of course, Sabrina has to stay pure. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
I....... like the villain......!? She's funny, and I'm down a rabbit hole and I can't stop reading.
I think I like this issue a bit more than the 1st and 2nd, because you get a bit more backstory on her Unholy Baptism, and it's rather entertaining.
BUT THE GOAT NOOOOO!
I was planning on drawing this series out through the month of February, but I just blew through 2 issues because I couldn't stop, and I'm realizing I have self-control issues. And I desperately need to know what Harvey Kinkle thinks of everything that just happened.
This one was so gooddd!! I loved how detailed the Baptism rituals were! The art is fair enough, but the storyline is so dark that my inner witch just cannot get enough of this comics.
And Sabrina is finally baptized! Or so I think. This issue fleshed out the "how to's" in her Dark Baptism and it was quite a delight for me XD Although its kind of a predictable one. I think I kinda like Madam Satan more now, and she looks exactly like the actress playing her on the Netflix series. Wuuzzaa for the great casting! Also, I love the fact that Ambrose's familiars are named Naga and Nagaina, heads up Nagini you might be next! LOL XD
In this issue, Sabrina is getting ready for her Dark Baptism and Madam Satan is scheming in the background.
It was alright and the first of three that felt short to me.
But can we talk about Harvey for a second? I hate him. He's a lot better in the show, but so annoying here. What gives Harvey? Bleh.
There's also an older appearance of Madam Satan at the end, her very first mission. She's beautiful in every version, and the actress they chose for the show matches both the old and new versions really well.
Fundamentalists disliked "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" back in the day when she was an "Archie" comics character and a 1990s sitcom star...for supposed glorification of the occult. Let's hope they never cast eyes upon THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA.
It's sort of like the fever dream of what Jack Chick thought must have been in "Harry Potter:" horrifying rituals, blood sacrifice and conjuring the Dark Lord himself.
It's over-the-top and kind of funny, actually, much in the way that '80s heavy metal bands simultaneously reveled in and winked at occult imagery.
Having only watched the tv series, this comic was quite fascinating as it’s so dark. I especially enjoyed the Madam Satan mini comic at the end. She is such an wonderful character. Shall be continuing with these.
I'm really enjoying how dark this series is, because it's even darker than the TV show. What makes everything that much worse is the fact that it totally feels like a sugary 60s story--even includes the old horn-dog cliché, LOL--while some pretty bad shit is happening.
This issue is about Sabrina getting ready to be baptised on her birthday, which happens to be Halloween AND a blood moon. It flashes back to when she was younger and started asking questions about what would happen. And also concentrates on her relationship with Harvey, who wants to take things to the next level. But of course she can't because she has to be pure in every way.
I also like how Madam Satan keeps manipulating everything. That is similar to the show, but still so different. She's a total asshole, but I can't help but like her. Unlike Harvey, I can't stand this version of him. He's a real douche, nothing like the sweet show-Harvey.
Oh, and how cool was Della, Queen of the Sabbath? That wicked nun was great. Wish they'd added HER to the show.
Well, I'm hooked now and can't wait to see what happens next.
I am reading as I know that The CW is developing a Sabrina series much like they have restarted the Archie stories via Riverdale. But this is a version of Sabrina that Melissa Joan Hart never showed us.
I'll keep reading them as long as they are free via Amazon Prime Reading :)
This one didn't keep my attention as well as the first two did. Not quite dark enough and nothing really thrilling happening. I'm still enjoying these though! Just not finding anything incredible about them just yet.
It's time to choose a path for Sabrina Spellman. Boring mortal or wicked witch?
Issue three, is about Sabrina getting ready for her dark baptism ceremony on Halloween night, dealing with Harvey who wants to take their relationship to the next level and a manipulating Madam Satan.
In this issue, we also see little Sabrina and her aunts. They inform Sabrina about the unholy baptism. Her aunts say they will love and support her no matter what her choice is, but as I said, this is nothing like Netflix Sabrina. Harvey in particular is quite different in these comics.
I enjoyed reading it and can't wait for the next volume. If you are interested in the Netflix version of the dark Sabrina, you'll love it!
Note: This issue also contains an old story of Madam Satan. Really nice bonus.

I have just flown through the first 3 books! Yes it's easy to do as they are quite short, but that cliffhanger, again, made me wanting more! Will most probably be reading the 4th book very very soon! Once again, the book gripped me right from the very start, dazzling me with it's stunning artwork and dark content! Cant wait to read the rest!
From what I'm discovering regarding the changes from the graphic novel to the Netlfix adaptation, although this one, even having a pretty dark tone, in these volumes is at the next level.
On the other hand, I'm glad that in the series, regarding the characters, they have opted for more diversity.
I only read this far in because I like the Netflix series, but these comics are really hard to get through. I don’t like the art style or the characters. I’m not sure if I will finish the series... if I do it will be because there are not many issues left. It is pretty disappointing.
Me encanta. El proceso para convertirse en una bruja de forma "definitiva" es detallado y la verdad es más verosímil que en la serie. Sé que no debo comparar pero ya que vi primero la serie me parece relevante resaltar algunas de esas cosas que son mejores en el comic.
This one was on par with the second comic, I really like all the characters and the scheming that’s going on! I can’t wait to see what happens with Harvey!
That's one hell of a goat slaughter. This issue is focuses on the history of the witches and Sabrina's 16th witch ritual. I'm glad the writers pay homage to Giles Corey but the addition of Queen of the Sabbath doesn't make sense here. She's suppose to be the personification of Saturday which kinda make sense because Sabrina's current birthday is on Saturday. But adding her as their queen or something doesn't make sense(for me atleast).
