Ravinder Singh, the same author who brought us the bestselling I too had an love story and Can love happens twice now brings out his new book "Tell me a story". Unlike his past books except one this in not purely written by him. He only edited it.... The book is actually a anthology genred. i.e., the book is a collection of 21 tales written by 21 different authors all across India. Ravinder has made efforts to select the best 21 from a lot of thousands. The book surely brings love, happiness, sad, emotions, relations and so on.... The book is a sure shot winner in all aspects!!!

Tell me a story by Ravinder Singh, an anthology compiles of 21 short stories with each one describes happiness to sadness edited by the writer Ravinder Singh himself. Says various emotions of life so beautifully.

Some of the stories in short synopsis,
The End of the Tunnel by Krishnasish Jana is about author's deep beneath memories which describes the emotions so well, says about his unforgettable memory as fourteen year kid and my favourite among all.

The Smile That Said It All by Kamalika Ray, a beautifully confines one about the women who withstand on her own.

The Defender by Aparajita Dutta about Labdhyo player FIIOB football group and Captaining college football team when he receives his shock of life as he can't play football anymore, what he decides? And what's the outcome? Shows the true sportsman spirit.

A Daughter's First Flight by Vijay Kumar, as name suggests its a first flight of a daughter who's dad is in very critical stage at hospital. A very sensational one.

And Then the Planes Came by Sanghamitra Bose, says the war experience of an kid who hidden in the bunker during 1971 were Pakistanis took air attack by crossing border, makes to see it as real. Wonderful one.

Breaking the Impasse by Shaily Bhargava, about medical negligence and a girl affects by medical negligence. How it changes her life..

Clean Slate by Sukanya M. About a Child who recovers from her mom's dead and undergoes dad's new wife issue.

All the stories were written by various young budding writers of all over India an good work from Ravinder Singh sir yet it can be done better many has potential to melt your heart, go for an light read without expectations.

This book was like a no strings attached 2 hour meeting for me. I enjoyed it a lot especially because I didn’t get too attached with any of the characters. The book had moments when I felt sad (and started repeating "no no no” over and over during my math lecture) or when I couldn’t stop smiling about something cute that happened.
The story promises 'inspiring, touching, funny and heartfelt stories from life' and let me tell you it doesn’t disappoint. Even if I don’t usually prefer reading about real life experiences, this book makes me want to read more books with similar plots and even if the stories have lessons we are taught our whole lives, each story has a unique essence to it which makes them all memorable enough to be inspiring. My personal favorites from the book were’ a daughter's first flight’, ‘suicide (so decide)’ and ‘that girl’. I gave the book half an extra star because it tried to break the social norm and stand up for people who have suffered in one way or another. It perfectly portrayed how we all suffer from our own problems and yet we judge others (even unknowingly) for the circumstances life has put them in. Also it gives the most important lesson of all that mistakes can only define you if you let them.
As touching as the stories were sometimes I felt that they were dramatized a little bit more than reality. I also distinctly remember reading a sentence along the lines of how funerals are not meant for the dead but for the living which made me remember extremely similar lines in the fault in our stars and as far as the promise of "funny" stories goes I don’t think that any of them made me laugh, smile maybe but outright laugh? No. I agree that most good books make you feel for the protagonists but with this book so many stories have been combined that to feel for all seems a bit impossible (maybe it’s just me).
Even with its flaws the book is enjoyable in its own little way.
For anyone who is looking for something new or absolutely phenomenal I’m sorry to say this book is not for you but if you want to read something that makes you happy to be alive while not making you sob on a plane ride back home and making your co passengers think that you're crazy then go ahead pick up this book and dive into the experiences of people who have a story to share.
Finally I want to thank Penguin, India for sending and introducing to me this amazing book.

The book 'tell me a story' is an anthology, edited by the indian author Ravinder Singh. It contains 21 stories from 21 different authors across India, most of which are based on real life incidents. I'm not a big 'short story' enthuciast but I somewhat liked this book. Though, not each and every story but I loved some of the stories.
Okay so time to justify my rating.
Cover--the very first thing which I didn't like about this book was it's cover. When I first saw it's cover page, I was really intrigued. I mean what the hell is wrong with the creative team? That cover was so bad, so average that if I had to buy this book I'd have definitely not bought it because of it's cover. Okay! We should not judge a book merely by it's cover but it doesn't mean that you can put anything on the cover page and call it a COVER.
Of course the book was good despite the fact that the cover is not-so-good. Most of the stories are very average and plane but the way of writing and expressing was amazing in some of them. There were stories like 'Closed chapter', 'Breaking the impasse' and 'A love so conditional'. They were the gem of this book. They presented a perfect story with some cheesy, alluring lines which immediately, after a very few lines had me engrossed in it.
This book presents a better Indian. No, not in any particular terms, but in terms of beautiful minds and souls. The book shows that the country still has a good soul, and a heart which longs for love.
Aah! Lot of philosophy to digest. Haha. Anyway we were talking about the book. It was a nice read and if you love short stories and Anthologies, you'll love this book.
P. S.- I recieved this book from Penguin India. Thankyou Penguin India.

I wanted a light and casual read for myself this time since my vacation mode was ON and that's why I picked this book at the airport. 'Tell Me a Story' is a collection of short heart touching life experiences is what attracted me the most about this book. Each story is written by a different author. A bunch of people who have penned down their experiences like diary entries. Their sweet, bitter, inspiring experiences. This in itself is exciting enough for anyone to go ahead and read it.

I also had the same expectations when I bought it. But today as I finish reading this book, I do not feel moved, do not feel connected. They don't leave an impact. Though they are supposed to be experiences which changed the respective authors' lives but sadly they failed to touch me. Some of the stories no doubt were beautiful but most of them looked too ordinary to be included in this list. I will not say that the stories were bad or badly written but maybe the writing style didn't click.

Since I have read short stories in the past too and maybe thats why had a different level of expectations, so I do not blame the editor for choosing what he chose, its just that they didn't reach my heart. So pick this one as a timepass and nothing more than that.

'Tell Me A Story'- the name of the book itself is a promising title that will compel lovers of the written word to reach out for the book. The subtitle says that the anthology has inspiring, touching, funny and heartfelt stories from life. And I'm a big sucker for true stories, so one can imagine my excitement to read this collection of short stories.

The cover is undoubtedly cute. The floral background and the flowing font translated 'touching' very aptly. And the cup of coffee by the side is just the perfect ambiance for a book lover, isn't it? It was drizzling beautifully outside when I received this book. What luck!

Past day I picked “Tell Me a Story”, heard a lot about it and It took me less than one day to savour it. Basically it is a compilation of 21 stories, written by magnificent storytellers and Ravinder Singh has done an insightful to convert them into a lovely book. The First thing book cover was aesthetically pleasing. And the name on the cover ‘Ravinder Singh’, he left no choice to us. And yes each and every story touched my heart, some left me teary-eyed, some enveloped me with calm smile, some ended with hidden messages.

An anthology of 21 stories. Ravinder Singh has selected some of the best real life stories, definitely wouldn't have been an easy task !
The stories cover a wide range of topics from love of parents to first lost love, life after a war situation and divinity in life, infidelity in marriage to staying faithful towards partner, from giving life to a needy to the death of a family member.
These stories celebrate life.
Each story is best in its own way. Love the efforts, love the variety chosen. Brings in lot of thoughts and lessons to learn in life.
Must give it a read.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review.

Tell Me a Story is a collection of stories edited by the Indian Author Ravinder Singh. In this anthology each chapter is written by a different author. We are introduced to that chapter of the author's life where a particular incident made an impact on them, or changed the way they see the world. It was like reading snippets out of memoirs or a person's diary.

I hate writing harsh reviews but, I just have to get this out.

I did not enjoy this read. Maybe because the stories were so short I could not connect with any of the stories or the "characters". I kept putting off reading this book for so long. For me the writing style did not fit in with the premise of the book. For a book that has "Inspiring, Touching, Funny and Heartfelt Stories from Life", the writing style felt forced when it should have just flowed like a conversation between the author and the reader. These are supposed to be personal stories, real life stories, but some of them felt made up. Some of them were like dressed-up confessionals.

When I was reading some of the chapters, I remembered this episode from FRIENDS where Joey writes a letter of recommendation for Monica and Chandler and he uses the "thesaurus" feature to make his letter seem better.

The stories weren't all bad. There were some stories with merit. But the writing style missed the mark for me. Kind of disappointing.

Disappointing!
Have read several much-better-collections of short stories from not-so-popular authors from the same country itself. I am surprised that why the person in charge could not even select the best short stories when he was not to write them himself. A lot many stories seemed to have copied concepts from other sources. Construct of most of the stories lacked a structure and I deeply felt no connection at all. Some stories were so plain that I wasted my time to understand if it bore a deeper meaning that I could not understand. To me, it appeared like paid stories!
It's better to read children story books from a local book-store than spending your time on this one.

this book has 21 short stories written by different authors or to be authors and it is edited by Ravinder Singh. some of the stories were really good and inspiring but the other ones are pretty much boring and kinda did not fascinate me.
you may prefer this book if you are travelling or the sort of situations where you would wanna read stories that would keep you occupied, this happens with me, at least.
there is no use of any kind of offensive words.
children can read this book too, though there are some words which might get difficult for them to understand.

hope, this helps.
thank you.:)

Notes for me not a review-
*The end of tunnel _ “Finding positive in something as dark as death is perhaps the biggest inspiration a human being can achieve, because it’s only death that can inspire life like nothing else”
*The love that made me_ “ Try being the girl you are, Not what your problems have made you”
“Love is all about giving hope when there is no reason to be optimistic. And being the best we can be for the person we love”
*Unforgiven_ A lie repeated over and over again becomes the truth.
I couldn’t get over with the character of Samir 🤍

Tell me a story is a collection of heartwarming stories about events and events that have influenced or changed the lives of writers in an unforgettable way. Some of the stories in this book have been released as short films. Some stories also have high moral values. But some of the stories did not seem very enjoyable. The stories of many authors have been put together into one book. It was edited by Ravinder Singh. A short book for those who love short stories.

A beautiful anthology with extraordinary collections of pages from life. Many of the stories are definitely gonna make your eyes wet and most of it are gonna make you think deep about life. More than stories i would like to call them as a journal by different authors. A definite recommended book published by one of my favourite authors.

Well as this book is an anthology it's difficult to review every short story mentioned in it.
This book comprises short stories from several authors which are compiled by Mr. Ravinder Singh.

If you are a reader of short stories then this book is a good choice for your bookshelf.
Writing is very easy to understand and entertaining.

I will give it 3 stars.
