Jules is a girl who has been through a lot of shit in her life. With an abused and tormented childhood she's now homeless, working in order to pay for the cheap motel room she lives in.

In the nightclub she works as a waitress, she meets Dante & Holden Riley. Two brothers who come frequently and seem friendly to her. Jules has her eyes on Holden, even though she doesn't think that he would ever be interested in a girl like her. Especially, after Dante's warning, who is trying to keep them apart.

When the past comes to haunt the future, Jules will find herself in really tight shoes and she will have to count on the brothers, even though she was threatened to stay away from them.

Many things happen in this book and I can't reveal anything, because the book is full of unexpected twists and I would spoil the fun. I'll just say that, I thought that this would be a love triangle, but I was so wrong about it. Since, I can't say much, I'll just say that this is a book that I would recommend to my friends, because I enjoyed the writing, it surprised me and I loved the characters as well. I also wouldn't mind to read more about their future sometime.

This book has mystery, suspense, adventure and romance. The only reason I didn't give this book a clear 5 was because, even though I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down, I didn't really feel the romance. Maybe that was up to me, maybe not. The point is it felt somehow forced and I must admit that at first I thought that this would be a case of a love triangle, so I liked the other brother more.

Anyhow, I truly liked this one and so far this author hasn't disappointed me. Looking forward to reading more from her.

Arc was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Twists and turns like a roller coaster on a collision course to hell!! A stalker the author kind of book to see what she's going to throw at us next!! LOVED this BOOK!!

I've not encountered anything by this author before but saw this jumping around on my newsfeed on Facebook and had to go one click the bugga..

The cover, the synopsis, then the amount of five star reviews made me want to start this today!! Picking this up and starting it I can really understand why the 5 star reviews!! A tough kick ass heroine and two hot brothers, what more could a girl ask for!!

Right away I'm drawn into the story, Jules is in yet another unfavourable run down motel, her grasp on her sanity has gone to the one dark place she struggles to allow her mind to wander to, six years ago when her foster sister had gone missing, her decomposed body was uncovered buried in the back yard of the foster home..

Bad things happened, even when people cared

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Everything I've gone through has made me a stronger person,

My foster sister had been gone for six fucking months before she was even discovered. While I’d been counting down the days until I was eighteen and free of that hellhole of a foster home, Casey’s body had been slowly decaying in the flowerbed just outside my bedroom window.

Right away your pulled into the gritty world that Jules endured at her last foster home..The sick twisted, gut wrenching 'play days' Travis inflicted on these two foster sisters made for hard reading..

The media named us the 'Malcom Foster Kids.'

I'd met Holden and Dante Riley shortly after I started my waitressing job. Dante was the older brother and had a powerful intensity about him. I would always feel him in the room before I ever saw him. Holden , on the other hand, brought a sense of stability and playfulness.

Love isn't always a good thing. as much as it could bring life, it could also destroy it.

These brother's are like peas in a pod, one is serious and the other is less so, even their personalities in this are polar opposites..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My secrets might be too dark for him to handle

I do sometimes feel like I’m being watched.  I’m sure it’s just my paranoia, though.

You know that over used saying that's so clique, I could not put this book down ( add in rolling of the eyes emoticon ) well I shit you not, this is exactly what this book does to you..These brothers are confusing as all hell, scrub that, Dante has me speed reading like a crack baby on speed, what is his story? What's his agenda? why is he hell spent on keeping Hunter and Jules apart, and where does he fit into this? GAH! And is he the creepy stalker? Double GAH where the hell does Dante's father fit into this story?

I still couldn’t believe nor understand the life she’d had to endure.  The biggest part that still didn’t make sense was the fact that nobody has stepped in to help her. Everyone, including my father, was just sitting back and watching her get treated like shit - Dante

Everyone has scars that tell a story. Even though they don’t define who you are, yours tell me that you’re not a victim, you’re a survivor. They validate your past, but you’re a stronger woman because of them. I know we can get through anything, together.

Jules' life is not pretty, it's not fun, it's not beautiful but it's her life. She is trying everything she knows to survive the past she is running from and the future she has no idea if it exists.

Surviving a childhood of not being wanted and submitted to countless abuse at the hands of foster families and one terrible monster that took her innocence and happiness.

Justice finally stepped in and punished the man that killed her foster sister and tormented Jules into a darkness where surviving was her only option.

"Justice was served that day in court, the system had failed me so many times I'd lost faith they'd ever do anything right by me."

Until the day she meets the Riley brothers and her life is about to change in every way possible.

 photo bros_zpsg2cr10xx.jpg

"Holden reminded me of all the things I wanted in life but never been given the opportunity to have. Holden's piercing blue eyes captivated me every time he looked my way.

Dante was a man of few words and seemed to be more of an observer. His eyes would confidently scan the room off and on as he sat back and watched my every move."

What Jules nor Holden know, is big brother Dante has been watching Jules for a long time, protecting from shadows. Dante was hired by his father to keep an eye on Jules but never says why.

Holden and Jules continue to grow close and their feelings begin to turn to love. As they spend more and more time together they know they belong to each other. Jules cannot really understand why Holden wants her, but she can't deny wanting to feel his love but fights this because she has never known what love really felt like.

"Love isn't something to regret, Jules. Anything in life can destroy you, but I'd rather be so deeply effected by someone that I'm willing to fight against all odds for her than never experience it."

 photo giphy-1_zpsjnx6addp.gif

And a fight they all will receive from so many outside demons. The secrets of Jules past darkness start surfacing and neither man understand just how much their three lived are twined together.

"This woman held my heart, and I wanted to do everything in my power to keep those tears from her eyes."

Relinquished is a story of family secrets that you will never see coming. The beginning of this book was very slow paced for me building up the past and present until all the evil in their lives collide to create a storm of danger that will bring this trio together in ways they never imagined. Love on every level is created making the last 40% of this book simply AWESOME!

Jules, Holden and Dante fight together to bring the man that had his hand in creating such loss and sorrow for all them. In the end they all gain so much more than they ever thought imaginable. Jules definitely get's the life she always dreamed of.

I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes with this ending. Nicely done K.A. Hunter!! You surprised me with this one!!

A beautiful romantic suspense, with loveable characters and clever twists.
I lived their story with them, and held my breath through some of the more shocking parts. A tough, tormented, likeable heroine and sweet, loyal hero made me cheer these guys on from the offset, even more so when I wasn't sure how or if it could all be made right! I wanted a happily ever after but wasn't sure if it was ever going to come.
I never predicted the twist at the end, and it's not often you can shock me like that. I was ready to message the author and demand she put it back together again.
I won't spoil it for you by telling how it ends...read it yourself!

I am not going to go into huge detail over the plot as I think the reader would appreciate not having spoilers. I will say that this is a complex unpredictable story. When I thought the plot was going one way it veered and did something else.

Chilling story that you need to set aside a read day for. You wont want to be interrupted and have Kleenex stocked close by. This is one of those books you pick up and it haunts you, you think about it even when you are finished. New author and I am anxious to see what other books she will come out with. One of the best books of 2015.

Wow! This one had me really on my toes. So many twists and turns. And, so much sadness. A little on the dark side with some pretty f**ked-up villains. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into when deciding to pick up this book, but it really had me guessing until the very end...

My mouth is still hanging open after finishing this epic romantic suspense thriller! From the very beginning of this story, I was on the edge of my seat and could imagine the horror that Jules went through as she battled to survive the foster care system and reach adulthood. The detailed descriptions of the f'ed up life that Jules leads made my heart hurt for her. I found myself cheering her on through the entire book, hoping that she would eventually find a way out of her cursed existence and be able to enjoy a better life. I loved Holden and Dante, the two brothers who come into Jules' life and turn it upside down. There were so many twists and turns through this gritty tale that kept me guessing and made my heart stop more than once! I can't recommend this book enough! Such an amazing read!

4.5 of 5 Hearts

This is the first book I have read by Author K.A. Hunter and it most certainly will not be my last. Her writing is full of vivid details that place you right alongside her characters as you read. The spider web of twist and turns had me captivated as I flipped through the pages trying to discover what really happened to Jules.

In parts of this story I felt like there was too much detail and it pulled us away from what was really going on. Jules was too lost in her head and pulled us away from the situation at hand. Then we would dive back into the story. That is why I am giving this story 4.5 of 5 hearts.

There were a few times I wanted to hide poor Jules myself and was afraid to find out more of what truly happened to her. Every time I thought this story could not throw me for a loop, I was wrong. All the way to the very end K.A. Hunter unraveled her web of mystery and mouth dropping wonder.

Saying Juliana ‘Jules’ Donovan had a shitty life is putting it nicely. This poor girl has been through hell and keeps getting sucked into hell the entire book. She cannot figure out why she is always receiving the short end of the stick. It is like she takes two steps forward and ten steps back. Her entire life it was as if some evil puppet master was pulling her strings.

Jules does not like getting close to anyone. It seems that when she lets someone in they die. And she does not want anything to happen to her new friends Dante and Holden Riley. I absolutely loved watching Jules with the guys. But good lord if Dante did not give Jules and me both whiplashes.

Oh, Holden Riley, you are one sexy man. I swear from the moment Holden is introduced into the picture I was swooning and rooting for him. He is in love with Jules and be damned if anyone including Jules does not let him love her. He knows she is a broken soul that needs loved and cherished and he is the man to do it. The way Holden was with Jules was perfect. He protected her, made sure she knew that she was it for him, and took baby steps with her so she would not run.

When Jules would panic and push Holden away he knew just what to do to let her see that he was not going to walk away and that they would be okay.

This scene right here melted my heart big time.

“Not at all. I love your scars.” His index and middle fingers trailed over the thin lines on my wrists. “They’re your badges of honor and remind me each day to be thankful for every moment I get to spend with you.”

Dante Riley is one sexy man. He is built like a brickhouse and runs a gym along with a rescue shelter for human trafficking survivors with Holden. He is demanding and only likes things his way. If Dante barks he expects everyone to listen. There were times I wanted to smack this man upside the head with his dominance. Then he would be sweet and caring and I would melt. He is so worried about keeping Jules and Holden apart that he forgets to worry about himself.

The ending of this story is just WOW! I did not see all of that coming to a head! It was insane! I read as fast as I could wanting to know more and more, all along my jaw was hanging open. I was in the “are you freakin’ kidding me!” mode. LOL. That ending was intense and crazy but oh so good!

****I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you****

I want to issue a trigger warning for this book. I HATE being blindsided by triggers. Individuals who have issues with sexual assault as well as physical abuse need to know what they are getting into. The scenes where the abuse is discussed or remembered are well done and not usually gory. I believe if you knowing that the triggers are there, you should be able to handle the sensitive topics.

I didn’t understand the magnitude of the description when I volunteered for the ARC. I thought it would be a contemporary story some mystery and suspense with a strong side of romance. I was so wrong in the best way. I was enthralled by the story of Jules, Holden, and Dante. I have to be vague in my review. The pieces of this story are like a well done puzzle. Each small piece gives leads into a major part of the story. It was a very intricate story on how the Rileys’ and Jules lives have been intertwined for years.

Jules had been a victim for years because she knew no other way. She was forced into that life but stilled survived and was a good person despite what happened to her. Finally accepting help from Dante and Holden Riley, she really takes it upon herself to better herself through education and learning self defense to protect herself becoming a strong woman she was destined to be.

Holden is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s all soft and gentle when needed and all alpha when Jules is in harm’s way. The many times he said and did the exact right things to develop Jules love and trust made me swoon more times than I could count. With his golden brown hair and muscular fitness trainer body, he’s the total package.

Dante. He’s hard to put into words. He’s very much a cold calculating alpha that doesn’t like his world disrupted and that’s exactly what Jules does to his world. Throughout the story, you see Dante’s view on relationships and emotions change for the better. Dante is a much better man by the end of the book.

Usually I write the review the exact same day as I finished the book. I want my initial reaction to the ending to be authentic. I don’t want time to dull my memory. Occasionally when something upsets me about the story or doesn’t sit right in my head, I’ll wait a day or two. That was the case of the later this time. Something bothered me about the storyline and I had a hard time figuring out what it was. I had to discuss it with my husband to think through it. I decided the premise of the intricate story might be seen as somewhat far-fetched as the each piece lined up over 20 years. I don’t want to go into this in anymore details that would spoil the story. Do I think it ruined the book? No. I really liked and enjoyed the story. It was something that made me go huh. This might be a case of it’s me and not the book. 4 stars.

3 stars...but I kind of wanted to give it 4. I'll try to explain...

K.A. Hunter gives us a really nicely done book. Good editing, good writing and a fully fleshed out character in Jules. She is rough around the edges but still feminine and emotional. Her terrifying background is graphically depicted with just enough detail to make you squirm but not feel like the author is doing it for shock value. Jules' past convincingly affects her current life in a believable fashion. Her actions are generally sensible throughout the book. In one particular scene Hunter really does a tremendous job describing someone who is at the fringe of just giving up and wanting to die. Very deftly handled.

My problems with the book are few but I feel significant. Other readers may disagree and I recommend reading a sample before you commit to see if you are bothered by some of my complaints. For one, this is tagged as a suspense novel, and it sort of is. But the pace moves almost glacially at times. I felt as if I had read 30% of the book before anything noteworthy really takes place. Then things happen...then more pages of 'relationship' (more on that in a moment) before finally reaching the climax. My personal taste is there are a lot of words and insignificant things that could have been trimmed to make this story more compelling. Easily done if Hunter could have avoided my next gripe.

"Relinquished" reads more like a Harlequin romance novel than a thriller far too often. Jules and Holden share an almost sickly-sweet attraction towards each other. Endless descriptions of touchy-feel finger brushes, forehead kisses and breathless commentary on how handsome/dashing/awesome the Holden character in particular is. Women may dig this but this male reader found it tiresome. The sexual tension between the two is handled well, however. I nonetheless got the distinct impression that author Hunter was more in love with Holden than anyone else.
The story itself is full of twists which is good, though some require a fairly liberal suspension of belief though none of it is impossible. I will concur with some other reviewers that the character of Dante is far more interesting than the 'perfect' Holden. The ending is satisfactory and should leave a reader ultimately pleased.

In summary, this is not a bad book. It is actually very good in many ways and I would not be deterred if you find the premise enticing. Judging by the large number of positive reviews I am obviously in the minority in thinking it has faults, and this may just be a result of it not really being written for me. I feel Hunter just slightly misses the mark with this one.

This book was nothing like what I expected! More twists and turns, every page written to keep you guessing! What I was completely impressed with from KA Hunter was that even though the subject matter was difficult, there was still a beauty and romance to the story.

From page 1, entering the life of Jules Donovan is painful. Seedy motels, dead end jobs, living hand to mouth and surviving off dollar menus and soup kitchens, this has been the way Jules has lived since aging out of foster care.

The only bright spot she has is Holden Riley. He is caring and funny and the closest thing she has had to a friend is quite a long time. However you can imagine that with her less than stellar background, trusting in a friendship, relying on someone is significantly harder than it should be. Add to that, Holden's brother Dante appears to run hot and cold with her.

As Holden and Jules get closer, Dante mysterious feelings towards Jules slowly come to light. What none of them were expecting was how deeply their pasts are connected. Now in the face of danger, Jules and Holden must cling to each other, along with Dante, to navigate this maze of truth, pain, death and abuse. ~ Yes, there is discussion and some "description of abuse but not gory or overdone. ~

I was completely in shock the last 15% of this book. As I said, the twists and turns were out of this world amazing and the characters, the plot, so well written you are absolutely invested in knowing the truth with them. A true thriller, I am completely infatuated with Hunter's suspense writing style and will definitely be checking out more of her stories in the future!

This book is all kinds of F'ed up!!!! 4.5 Stars for Relinquished by KA Hunter.

Jules is a former foster kid almost since birth. Now in her twenties she lives day to day. Living in ratty motels, working shitty jobs for shitty bosses. Her struggle is survival, something she has become good at.

Her one bright spot is Holden. He talks to her, he listens, he helps out though he doesn't know he is. She dreams of more but has nothing to offer but herself and a shitty past and a bleak future. Holden is a prince charming type, looking to save the damsel in distress, but he truly is drawn and cares for Holden.

Holden's brother, Dante, is another story. Where Holden is a beacon of hope and light, Dante is a confusing ball of fire, one minute he wants to help her, the next minute he is running her off.

But when her unknown past comes to light all bets are off and their world, all three of theirs, is really about to be pureed in a blender!! KA Hunter has more this and turns in this storyline than the winding roads of San Francisco!!!!

This is a must read. So good!!!!

The twist will have you saying, holy sh!t, what the #uck!! etc

This book has not been written, it has been crafted. And it has been done so beautifully.
It is not an easy story, it covers some sensitive subject matter and some readers may find it a very tough read but I will say that it is handled with kid gloves and there details are treated with reverence.
While I would love to wax lyrical about the book and completely go to town on my review, but I really can’t because it would be detrimental to the enjoyment you would get when you read the book for yourself.
But what can I say, well you will be completely blow away by the story of Jules, Dante and Holden.
Jules has lived cruelly subjugated by those around her. Her victimization was complete, it was abhorrent but it was the life she had and she did what she had to survive. Her humanity and spirit where the parts of her that she could control and contain and using an inner strength that I could only hope to have, she survived and eventually found the help she needed.
And that came in the delicious shape of Dante and Holden Riley.
These guys gave her the encouragement to stand tall and make her statement, forge her place in the world and make it one that counts. She fought to create a woman in her that she was proud of, he expanded her horizons by feeding her mind at college and she insured that she was always going to be force to be reckoned with by building not only strength but confidence when she decided to take self-defence lessons.
I loved the Riley boys, they were like chalk and cheese but they each brought their own brand of alpha to each and every page.
Holden had that whole glorious good guy vibe going on, musclebound fitness god, he was just what any woman would want, he worked every emotional combination, proving that he could listen and provide support but when necessary, he was going to bring that alpha tendency that he hid so well out to play and god help anyone that got in his way. He gave Jules the sort of support and love that completely blew me away.
Dante on the other hand was cut from very different material, he was all alpha, he hid nothing – his alpha was on show permanently and he was proud of it.
But I have to say that initially I found his demeanour hard to take, I suppose I just didn’t understand him but as the book went on I found that his thought process was more open and his emotional opinions made more sense.
He was a good man underneath his armour and I liked that he was willing to try.
The book ebbs and flows and the path that the story meanders through is not clean up and sparkly, it is harsh and in parts harrowing but it has elements of enlightenment, hope and happiness that I like to think I can pin my heart to.
I liked the characters, I loved Holden- honestly he was superb, I hated what had happened to Jules but I found that her strength made her more appealing, it gave her an honesty that I could truly appreciate and well how I eventually felt about Dante – I could write on a stamp – awesome.
The story finished on a twist that I had not expected and I have to say that it was a sharp, move on behalf of the author - congratulations

I am just flabbergasted at the talent that has been evoked from the brain of K.A. Hunter. She kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting to continue to quickly turn the page to see what would happen next. I can’t say enough about how brilliant this story is.

Jules is a shattered, broken soul who comes from the foster care system where she was abused and tortured. Ever since the tragic death of her foster sister, she has felt that she is being watched. Jules has never seen an actual set of eyes on her, but she can feel the presence. The only person who could harm her is now put away, so why is she so jumpy?
Jules has never had anyone that she can trust, except for Holden, who walked into her life one day at work. Holden is a sweet and caring guy who only wants the best for Jules. He is constantly looking out for her and taking her out, showing her the better things in life.

Dante is his brother who met Jules at the same time she met Holden. Wherever the guys are, their demeanor demands respect. No matter who it is .. they better not look twice at Jules. She always feels safe around the brothers, but who wouldn’t? When Jules accepts a gym membership from Dante, everything seems to change. The women at the gym hate her and shoot her dirty looks. She also finds that the brothers are at each other’s throat and seem to be secretive. What are they keeping from her?

All she knows is that she is beginning to have feelings for Holden. He has been nothing but amazing and protective of her. She has this “zing” that ignites each time he brushes against her. What is this? Why was she having these feelings? Just when she thought everything was on the up and up and she has a place she can relax in and a person to confide in, she is told to stay away. Jules has been told that her relationship with Holden will ruin a family. That is something she NEVER wants .. to ruin a family…something that she never had.

Jules finds herself in trouble and kicked out of the dingy motel that she has been living in for the past few months. She has no money and absolutely refuses help. She decides that she will stay a couple of nights in the breakroom at work, until she can get on her feet. What she never expected was to come in contact with someone connected to her childhood abuser. Her life begins to crumble and literally start crashing down around her. How in the world did she get here? How will she escape? Ready to take her life, this person feels no remorse and she is trapped. The one person whom she never imagined would be there for her, is. This is where the story packs on a punch and turns on its axis. Get ready, because you won’t see where it is headed.

Holy moly do we see twists, turns, ups, downs and so much turmoil. We see friendships bloom; love blossom and evilness rear its ugly head. You won’t see certain things coming and you will find yourself yelling at your kindle. This was one fantastic story and I am forever following K.A. Hunter.

Thank you so much for the amazing read that I will not soon forget! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

First off I must say this novel blew me away because it was the type of in your face, grab you by the throat, not let you go dark suspenseful romance. I have read alot of suspense in romance lately but not quite like this one. That would put this on the plus side when you have read for as many years as I have. The characters she has sprung to life will each be like a magnet that will draw you to them as they each tell their part. In the middle of two brothers is Jules and the brothers being Dante and Holden. First is Jules, you are given her encounter with terror as if it had just happened but really it just doesn't let her go. It is also some very intense information that she has already lived through. Her present situation is only different with that she is older now and more defensive. You soon learn more of the two brothers as she tells her impressions. Dante the older one and Holden being the one she is more friends with. Dante is the more commanding of the two but both have power in their own right. so you are taken along with these three as they go along with their lives intertwining more and more. The really interesting thing is also is stuff will keep testing Jules that will pretty much seem intense is part of her life that she can not seem to escape from. She does get a small taste of normal or different when she is with Holden but Dante will know how to shut the door on that real quick when he learns exactly how close they are becoming. The monsters from her past also keep chasing her and one night's event will open the door to Dante realizing there has to be a different course now that it is apparent that Jules needs more watching than ever before. By this time you are truly grabbed by that neck hanging on every line thinking what could possibly happen next? Remember too that there is romance but it will build in its own way according to the story as it unfolds. When it does happen it will happen with intensity that is fitting to the book. Dead secrets will become unburied clawing their way to the light of day giving you the reader that deer in the headlights look as you learn them. As you approach the ending you will be given one of the most unexpected turn of events that will have for a minute your heart in the throat as the action plays out wondering will anyone survive and when the author weaves her magic with her writing it will be the perfect ending like the perfect stitch in a hand sewn creation. By the way fitting title because this author will have you the reader doing just that as it happens in the novel because of her writing.

It is always a wonderful thing to see an author branch out into new areas of writing that is scary and intimidating for them. What makes it even better is when they do an awesome job at it and provide a story that will shock the reader and leave them begging for more. This author put her fears and insecurities on the shelf and went forward, giving us a gritty story that will shatter the weak at heart with drama, suspense and the evil deeds of others.

K.A took on a tough topic in this book and added a bit of romance to the plot to remind us that love can conquer all, or can it? Jules never grew up knowing what love or having a family felt like. Living in foster homes, dealing with abuse, having her friendships and relationships used against her, has forced her to survive in a hotel room, working at a dead end job and avoiding the advances of sick men.

It wasn’t until the Riley brothers stepped into the bar that she started to see a second chance at life begin to form. While stubbornly holding on to her independence and pride, Holden showed interest in things other than her body. He wanted to know her heart, mind and ambitions. He wanted to help and love her, be part of her dreams and future. Dante gave her a sense of protection, security, possibly an awkward form of friendship. While Dante wanted to find out what Jules was about, he respected the strength in her soul that has kept her alive but soon the truth about the three comes out and their worlds turn upside down. Putting the pieces of this puzzle together was consuming, captivating and at times earth shattering.

The amount of suspense and drama all begins to unfold halfway through the book and the author didn’t give you a chance to catch your breath till the last page, leaving you trying to process what you had just read with your mind swirling and heart racing. You will find scenes that will rip your heart out and leave you emotionally raw, moments you will want to scream at K.A and ask her what she was thinking. Then you forgive her with the moments that have you melting because of the tender romance that brews between Holden and Jules. The biggest promise I can give you is the unpredictability of this story. Never let your guard down, go through the first half and learn about Jules and understand where she came from because where she ends up will blow you away.

Relinquished by K.A. Hunter
REVIEW
5 STARS!!!

HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER! I’ve been sitting here trying to put into words how much I loved Relinquished by K.A. Hunter. In this romantic suspense novel, you experience every emotion possible. From the first page to the last page, I was on the edge of my seat with anxiety about what was going to happen on the next page.

Jules is a remarkable character. Reading about her life in the foster care system, not only terrified me, it WRECKED me. Still, she grew up, got out of the system, and even though she didn’t believe it at first, she was worth someone fighting for. At one point, I wanted to shake her and tell her to stop fighting the reality that there is a man who loves her and WANTS to take care of her. The way her character develops is one of the best I’ve read in a long time.
Now, let’s talk about Holden. Let’s just all swoon for a moment together. Holden was a character that I instantly liked. I never had any fears about him and he never rubbed me the wrong way. His character was created with beauty and grace and I loved that. The connection between Holden and Jules was intense and you couldn’t help but fall in love right along with them. Holden and Jules start off as friends, but from the very beginning he can’t seem to stay away from her and she doesn’t see why. It broke my heart that she didn’t see her worth, but growing up the way she did, you understood why. Holden was her safety and her reason and they will forever be two characters I adore.

At first, I wanted to punch Dante. Okay, really up until the turn of events in the novel, I wanted to punch him. He was cocky and arrogant, and I was so terrified he was going to ruin the happy ever after that Holden and Jules deserved. Towards the end of the book, I saw him in a whole new light, and really appreciated the character he was.

Relinquished will hit you in the gut—HARD. I binge read it because it was literally UNPUTDOWNABLE. You will cry, you will laugh, you will scream and gasp for air. I must warn you, there are some graphic trigger scenes, but beyond that it is emotional, and intense, and brave. But most of all, you will love it! K.A. Hunter tried something new with this novel and in my honest opinion she hit it out of the park. For those people who love romantic suspense, let me tell you that Relinquished will not disappoint.

“Slowly kissing his way down my stomach as chills spiked along my skin, he sat up before I could comprehend that he was near my scar. “How the hell did I get so lucky? You’re so beautiful’”

5 beautiful, dark stars!! The storyline is powerful and twisted and dark. There are triggers, so be warned but overall it’s so beautifully written.

✰✰✰ Adult, stand-alone, romantic suspense novel. ✰✰✰

Jules Donovan has been in and out of unsavory foster homes and repulsive motels her entire life. She’s known nothing but loss, abandonment, crime, and pain. Now that she's aged out of the system, she can’t remember ever having dreams for her future because she’s constantly fighting for daily survival.

When she meets the Riley brothers, there’s something about them that draws her in. She’s never let her guard down, but Dante and Holden make her feel valuable, like she actually matters. And for the first time in her life, she senses something she’s never experienced before—protection.

But can these mysterious brothers keep her safe from the dark monsters that lie in wait, ready for their final revenge? And how in the hell does older brother Dante know so much about her anyway?

Unbeknownst to her, things have been set in motion ever since she was ripped from her mother’s womb and, as each jagged piece of her life unfolds, she will begin to wonder, who’s really in charge of her fate?

**TRIGGER WARNING...this novel contains non-explicit scenes of abuse. There is strong language throughout. Relinquished is intended for mature readers**

Jules has had a rough life. Growing up in foster homes and dealing with abuse and trauma. Now on her own to feet and struggling to make it on her own, she’s met the Riley brothers. She feels worthless and with Dante and Holden, she feels beautiful and like she means something to someone. But how long can she feel safe with two brothers she barely knows?? This book was so dark and so emotional, you can’t help but feel for Jules and the horror she lived through. This is such a great book, I couldn’t put it down!!

Whatever talent is hidden in K.A. Hunter's mind has earned her another reader/follower. Relinquished follows foster driven, Jules Donovan through her ups, and downs of living in unsavory homes that weren't any good for her. Not only does K.A. Hunter do that, she also makes sure to bring in the Riley brothers. Two brothers that - for whatever reason - brings Jules into a completely different realm for her - a safe one. One where she is seen as a human being, and not as a plaything for those around her.

Jules has had a not so great past - in fact, the author has placed a disclaimer on Relinquished for a reason. It is no shock that this book will pull some triggers for people. The scary thing was that it felt like it was something that was actually happening at the time of reading. It was emotional. It was tough to read. But it made the story. It made Jules into the woman (unstrustworthy, shy, unsure of herself) that she turned out to be in the novel. It is only when the Riley brothers - Holden for sure! - comes along and begins to show her the brighter side of life.

But. Someone is watching her. She can feel the hairs on her neck rise whenever she's walking down the street. She can feel the stares, and she has no idea where they're coming from. A quick glance over her shoulder never shows her anybody, so she continues on with her life.

When things take a turn for the worse - which story doesn't have a climax point that has the main heroine running for the corner?? - she feels as if her entire life is falling to pieces around her. When she comes face to face with a person from her past, she shudders to think of what is going to happen. Without the Riley brothers to protect her, and make her feel like a human being, she slips back into what she once was; worthless, and having a sense of being used. After this plot twist there is no turning back for the reader. So, pick it up, start reading, and hold on!

K.A. Hunter did a wonderful, wonderful job with this story. This was a gripping page turner that had me flipping through my Kindle pages faster than I thought possible. Nobody will be prepared for the ending result, and I must say it was a clever one! Thank you for the outstanding read! I cannot wait to see more from K.A. Hunter in the coming years.

Relinquished completely took me by surprise and blew me away. Kimi (K.A.) has come barrelling out of the doors with an explosive novel!

I don't even know how to start this review. I have so many thoughts rushing through my head. I have to say that this book gripped me from the beginning and never let go.

Jules is a foster child and was in and out of homes til she aged out. Her life since then hasn't been a peach either. Barely scraping by, Jules does what she can to survive. Jules is very strong woman for going through what she has and not allowing herself to just give up.

"I was tired of just existing. It was time for me to finally fight and claim the life and future I wanted for myself."

Dante and Holden come across Jules when they visit the bar she works in. She keeps her guard up around anyone and everyone. But with them, for some odd reason she can't explain, their is some sort of guardianship coming from them.

However, once they get closer to her, things start to spiral out of control. And just when we think we are going to get some answers, more twists and turns are thrown our way.

Kimi does a phenomenal job of keeping things move along at a great pace and slowly leaking tidbits of information. It's just enough to give you pieces of the puzzle, but it's not enough to put them together correctly. She weaves this dark and edgy love story so perfect.

"Everyone has scars that tell a story. Even though they don't define who you are, yours tell me that you're not a victim, you're a survivor. They validate your past, but you're a stronger woman because of them."

The dynamics between all the characters felt so real. You can feel the protection that both brothers felt for Jules, but in two completely different ways. The hatred I felt towards the evil men in this book had me putting my kindle in a death grip, wishing it was their necks. I love when an author is able to get such strong reactions from me.

Relinquished is like a puzzle crafted to make you second guess every piece you are given. You will not see the ending coming. I loved every single bit of this book! Bravo Kimi!!

Reviewed for A Wanton Book Lover Blog

Jules has had a rough life. Abandon only a few hours after her birth, she has spent time in countless foster homes until she aged-out of the system. She is currently living in a flea-bag hotel and working as a waitress in a bar barley making enough money to survive day-to-day. But survived she has, as a victim of the foster care system and lastly at the hands of a monster that killed her one friend, her foster sister. While waitressing, she has meet brothers Dante and Holden Riley, gym owners, and struck up a friendship with them. She especially adores young brother Holden. He is kind and caring which almost has Jules letting her guard down and letting him in. Eventually, Holden and Jules begin dating; both are completely enamored with each other but for some reason, older brother Dante does want them together warning off Jules to stay away from Holden. Dante has been assigned a special assignment from his father but doesn’t know the details except he is supposed to keep an eye on her and protect her but from what, he doesn’t know. The one time Dante wasn’t watching her, trouble found Jules in a big way and now it is up to Dante and Holden to protect Jules as all costs.
This book was a pleasant surprise. It was phenomenal. There was romance, suspense, and drama. This was a book that I couldn’t put down. The further I read, the more OMG moments there were. Hunter’s writing was engaging as well as thrilling. She has a talent for written words that builds momentum until the “big reveal”, and there is definitely more than one big moment in Relinquished. This was one the reasons that I enjoyed this book so much. I also liked that the character of Jules was such a strong person. She has definitely has her share bad luck in life so I was pleased with the way this book ended. Relinquished is a stand-alone novel although the first four condensed chapters were published in the Pink Shades of Words anthology which is no longer available. K.A. Hunter also writes under her real name, Kimi Flores.

I need to shout from the rooftops how awesome I though this book was... From beginning to end I was furiously devouring every word, emotion, suspense, and beauty. When I first read the synopsis I immediately got that grabby hand feel we get when a synopsis pulls at us and demands we read something. I've read the works of this author in her previous contemporary romance category and I loved her writing so I was anxious to see what she could do in this genre... Boy was I overwhelmed from the beginning with feelings of anxiety, dread, mystery and pure curiosity. My super sleuth was going crazy trying to figure out all the ins and outs of this story. If you want to be kept on your toes in a very good way then this book is for you!

I won't rehash the synopsis because it speaks for itself. What I will tell you is that you will fall in love with one of the Riley brothers from the moment that he steps onto the scene... You will feel the angst when the other brother starts to get involved and then wonder if this is going to become a love triangle... You will feel all the anxiety as Jules continues to struggle with her past, present and the future that is being presented to her. You will want to scream and throw something when one of the brothers pisses you off, and then leap for joy when the same brother becomes a hero of sorts... Then when you think you have truly figured it all out... The book takes a complete 360 and you feel your stomach bottom out, like you've just crested that really big first hill on a roller coaster. I can't give you the details but I hope that you are intrigued enough by the synopsis and my words, to give this book a chance... I'm telling you that you WILL. NOT. BE. SORRY!!!!

I'd had several books that I just couldn't get into and had to DNF recently, this book came along at the right time and energized my reading again!!!! If the scale allowed more then 5 stars this would be one of those books that would receive that accolade from me!!!

This really really sucks you in and gives you some really jawdropping moments. Jules has been through so so much. She is a survivor. The twists and turns and danger is just really just wow. I didn’t expect the craziness of the moments.

The characters have their own hidden strengths and don’t realize they are there. You feel throughout for Jules with her childhood. She survived so much only to be in danger still. Her guilt over Casey was misplaced and Sam was definitely not expected but really helped to create more of a tension packed book.

Holden was just so amazing. He was the most tender man and so loving. His way of getting Jules to trust him and open up so beautiful. And he respected her. Saw her as strong and beautiful. I loved how he began his relationship slowly with her. What happened to him in the end tore my heart up. Poor guy to have that bombshell laid on him.

Dante at times I wanted to hate I really really did. In the beginning his treatment of Jules was just horrible. He deserved to be smacked upside the head and it caused undue tension between him and Holden. As the secrets were revealed though you begin to see why he was a total douchecanoe at the beginning. He did redeem himself in the end and his love for his brother was amazing.

The danger that was constant kept you on your toes and so did the wonder as to why Dante was protecting Jules and what his dad’s reasoning was. When this is revealed just wow.

The writing memorizes you and brings you into the moments where you feel the emotions of the characters at the time the action is occurring. Having the POV of Jules and Dante is good but I would have liked to see more of Holden’s thoughts. So many great twists that keep you on your toes throughout this book.

A fast paced character based book that will intrigue you and have you wondering what the heck throughout as you see the story of Jules and HOlden play out and the idea that family isn’t always blood but those that loved you as your own.

This book glued me to my seat. The characters are interesting and believable, and the story, holy crap. The way it unfolds will make you want to chunk your e reader in sympathy for the main character. I loved it! And it is a fast read, but it packs it all in. This is my first exposure to this author's books, but it will not be my last.

Jules Donovan has been let down every step of her life. In foster care, she was sent to bad places and if it wasn't bad, circumstances ruined that too. But the worst was in her teens. She was placed in a horrible home where a very bad man, Travis, did horrible things to her and another of the girls. To protect the younger kids there, they took it. Until he killed one of them. That made her story public, without naming them, when he was sent to prison. After that, she aged out of the system and was homeless and then barely not homeless her whole time. Every time she turns around, she gets kicked by life. But she fights on. Living in a sleazy motel, she gets a job at a bar from a flyer left on her door. There she meets two brothers. Dante is the oldest, but it is Holden she is drawn to. They own a gym nearby, and take a liking to her. But they aren't there by chance. Dante is watching her, per his father's orders, but Holden doesn't know the truth. Things start getting even worse for Jules, as her past keeps messing with her chance at moving forwards. What is Dante hiding from them? Can Jules find happiness with Holden? What does Travis's parole hearing coming up have to do with the bar? Can Dante and Holden save her? Or will getting too close to Jules drag them under with her bad luck?

I don't want to give anything away, but this book gets more intense with each passing page. The revelations in this book will blow your mind! Jules is my hero. She is a scrapper. If it was anyone else, they would have given up. If you love mystery with a bit of romance, this is a great book. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

***Gifted in exchange for an honest review***

This is the first book of ms Hunters that I have read, and it's a pretty good suspense novel.

Our main protagonist is Jules, and boy is she a survivor, a tough cookie who is determined to stand on her own two feet. A product of the foster system, Jules has never had anything, and Lady Luck has been ignoring her most her life, but still she picks herself up and starts again, I loved this about her, it must be very hard to have nothing or nobody that gives a dam whether you wake up tomorrow, to not trust kindness from strangers nor believe that the system is there to protect you... And she has valid reasons for feeling like this, she's been let down in the worst way.

Now I know that this is a work of fiction but unfortunately you read about the sorts of things done to Jules in the papers all the time, and Ms Hunter has made Jules so lifelike in her writing.

I felt every emotion, disappointment and triumph that Jules goes through.

Jules has little trust in men, but there's a certain guy who is determined to break down the barriers to her heart, Holden is the epitome of the best book boyfriend ... Handsome, caring, compassionate and patient. She has slowly let him in, and when we think that things are going smoothly, Holden's brother Dante decides to set his sights on Jude?

Now Dante is a mystery, I could not work out what was going on with him, and you don't really find out for a long while.

There are a lot of hidden agendas going on within this book. Some things I got straight away, but others, you are kept guessing until the final puzzle piece is revealed in the last 1/4 of the book, I was surprised on the truth, so Ms Hunter did well keeping me guessing throughout the book.

Ms Hunter has done a marvelous job of creating a story line that's believable but with enough drama and intrigue to keep you entertained.

I read this book in one sitting and didn't put it down.

5 Stars!!

“Everyone has scars that tell a story. Even though they don’t define who you are, yours tell me that you’re not a victim, you’re a survivor. They validate your past, but you’re a stronger woman because of them. I know we can get through anything, together.”

Relinquished is full of twist and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I was hooked from the beginning and I was able to finish it in one day! The storyline was edgy and dark with a twist of love. I loved the fighter that Jules had in her. Jules life was never easy. In fact, it was far from easy. The nightmares that she continued to struggle with, never faltered. The flashbacks from her past were always haunting her. In hope of finding a better life, Jules continued to push forward.

I loved the relationship between Holden and Jules. Holden was so sweet, but also pure alpha. He understood the struggles that Jules was constantly facing. Jules had never really known the meaning of love and so she had closed off that side of her, believing that love was something that she would never experience. Yet, Holden was always there to remind her that in life, there are some things worth fighting for...

"Love isn't something to regret, Jules. Anything in life can destroy you, but I'd rather be so deeply affected by someone that I'm willing to fight against all odds for her, then never experience it."

I loved Holden and Jules together. The connection they shared was beautiful. I promise this story will not disappoint. I would highly recommend Relinquished to someone looking for a great romantic suspense read!

Delicious twists and turns….

Wow, I was just blown away by this book! Once I started I had to read to the finish. Who needs sleep anyway?

Given her hard-scrabble upbringing in the foster system, Jules Donovan either had to fight or be totally destroyed by all the things she had to live through and endure. As a young adult she continued the struggle as her limited education didn’t afford her many options to pull herself out of the poverty she found herself in. Meeting Dante and Holden Riley at the diner was an unexpected light in her otherwise dull existence. The brothers were so different with one being dark and closed off while the other so open and warm. What started as friendship turned to more amidst unexplainable tension and mysterious overtones that slowly built to an incredible finale. How was this roller coaster going to end?

I’m trying to find the right words to describe this story. Dark, layered, inventive, twisted and mysterious definitely fit the bill but so does inspiring, resolute, optimistic and, above all, full of love. Jules is tough, independent but still kind and loving despite here harsh life up to this point. Holden and Dante offer her a glimpse into a future she has only dreamt about. While she is still cautious, she can’t help but start thinking how much better her life could really be. While Jules was open about her past and feelings the Riley brothers were more of a wild card and I really didn’t know what to expect from them. Were they as they seemed? Potential friend? Suitor? Or enemy? As the puzzle pieces started coming together the answers were more than I could have ever imagined.

I LOVED this story as it pulled me into the characters’ incredible journey and all the emotions they felt along the way. Five heartfelt stars!
