Lyle Harris has it all, at least on the surface. He's a strong, virile, secret silverback shifter. He's got a great career, financial freedom, and the finest of everything. What he doesn't have is someone to call his own.
Gunnar Gray is a young corporate intern with plans for a better life. Faced with some hardships from taking care of his sick mother, Gunnar is forced to take on side jobs just to make ends meet. At night, he longs for a strong man to hold while fantasizing about his boss.
When Gunnar sees something he shouldn't at the Harris household after a landscaping job, he and Lyle are caught in a web of lies and blackmail as well as undeniable sexual tension. Will they be able to put it all aside to see the love buried deep within them?
Why isn't he just perfect. AWWWW! What a GRRRREAT story! I really enjoyed the storyline and that it flowed rather smoothly covering a period of time as well as the nasty twist that was almost the straw that broke the silverbacks...back! I actually liked both characters quite a bit. Sometimes it is really hard to form a strong opinion or connect with the characters in a short story, but with Artemis & Wednesday that is not the case. Well, this is only my second book of theirs but I am rather enjoying them! This is also only my second book of a male/male pregnancy book too, but again, with Artemis & Wednesday at the helm, it is a great story to just sit back & enjoy. I rather like how classy and respectful they write the stories. The characters care for each other, they are sweet guys that if you were to meet them in person you would be liking them, only to find out that yes, that adage is still true! All the good ones are either taken or gay...and in these stories, both! But I really love that the loving is not overly detailed meaning that I don't have to know what inside parts they are touching, etc. It is an amazingly great steamy loving moment...or five. All in all, I can't wait to read more from these authors who are as talented as a gorilla is strong.
I would've liked to have seen the characters get to know each other more. Not that we have to be privy to every conversation, but a line here or there to indicate they were dating or getting to know each other or even conversing would've been nice. Instead, it felt like the relationship was a series of short bullet points: meet-cute, see gorilla, first kiss, blackmail plot, mpreg, resolution. The issue for me was pacing - it was all done way too perfunctorily.
Also, we never got to "meet" the gorilla; he is seen through a glass window for about a second and that's it. The human character is startled to see him but later indicates that he is aware shifters exist and it is no shock. So, I am assuming they are "out" in society. That begs the question: why would someone be blackmailed about it? It didn't make sense to me and was just another plot point that felt rushed and too easily resolved.
Hot and sweet short read. Perfect for a sexy lunchbreak. Lyle is a tough sexy alpha and the head of a successful Software Company. Entering Gunnar, the sweet and smart intern, who just wants to live his dreams. Both are instantly attracted to each other and longing for more. After Gunnar finds out about the shifter side of his boss and secret crush, he got drunk and could maybe have told the secret of it... Will their shared passion, deep feelings and the urge to be with the other be stronger than the black mailing and feeling of being betrayed? The only thing I have to complain about is that this story could have been longer. But maybe we will get a Sequel some time? I sure loved Lyles and Gunnars story and would love to more of them.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Artemis Wolffe and Wednesday Raven. This is a M/M Shifter MPREG Romance.
Lyle Harris is a CEO of a software company and a silverback gorilla shifter. Gunnar Gray is a young man who is taking care of his moms medical bills and is looking for someone to be in his life. When Gunnar gets hired by Lyle Harris as an intern the sparks fly but can things work out when a blackmailer comes along.
The author wrote a clean flowing story line with a couple great characters.
This is for any M/M paranormal romance book reader.
Gunner needed a better job to pay his mother's bills, Lyle needed an intern to help with his work, the two are attracted to each other and one drunk night could ruin everything, Gunner looses his job and his love, Lyle finds out it isn't Gunner who is blackmailing him and they continue their relationship and trying to stop the blackmail. these two will have their family and their happily ever after
This was not one of Wolffe's better efforts. It's rushed and full of holes. There is some sex but it's just okay. The story seems a little amateurish in both plot and writing style. The mpreg piece is just sort of tacked on. Gunnar seems to roll with things and rush ahead in ways that leave me with not much connection to his character.
College grad to intern with aide jobs with hints of advance and love--next is blackmail betrayal unemployment and lost love. Or is it? Great story and lose ends are tied up
This book couldve been so much more. I'm like I want my money back lol. I was excited because you read about werewolves shifters but not sliverback Gorillaz so I thought it would be interesting and good
Nice story....received in Shifting Pleasures Paranormal bundle.
Couldn't find on Amazon anymore so I will reference each story on their Individual links. I really enjoyed these stories and it opened my eyes to new authors in the Shifter genre.
