Baring your body is simple--but baring your soul might just change everything…

The last thing Glenna O'Donald expected to stumble upon in a cemetery was a pack of index cards. And not just any cards--each one contains instructions for a seriously kinky, no-holds-barred sexual encounter. Glenna, an over-analytical research assistant by day, is suddenly tempted to conduct some nocturnal experiments of her own. Especially when gorgeous university professor Eric Morris offers to be her lab partner.

Soon Glenna begins meeting with Eric once a week to try out the suggestions that intrigue her most. In between those daring nights of sensual exploration are work days filled with laughter and flirting…until Glenna fears she's getting in too deep. For all the pleasure she's giving and receiving, Glenna wants more than skin-on-skin interaction--and Eric realizes he's about to lose the intimate connection he didn't know he needed. Can they find the courage to take this game to the next level?

As hot as it is heartwarming, Christine d'Abo's fresh, witty novel proves that practice makes perfect, and that some games are worth playing…

3 underwhelming stars. Review posted April 25, 2016

The heroine, Glenna O'Donald, in her late 20s, is a very reasonable and reserved human being who does a stellar job at a university as a research assistant. She happens to meet a thirty-seven-year-old tall, dark-haired and very good-looking sociology professor. And, as chances would have it, she also finds a bunch of titillating sex cards at the graveyard. Her beloved Great Glenna has died and, since Great Glenna has always had a very soft spot for Glenna, she doesn't shy away to give her girl some well-meant advice: veering off the path of reason and start doing something wild, something out of her comfort zone.

Professor Eric Morris is still suffering in the aftermath of his last relationship which did not end well, to say the least. With Glenna, however, he seems to be ready to prove something to himself. And Glenna is willing to start with the nocturnal sexual research experiment - something along the line of 'I scratch your back, and you scratch my back'. Soon, though, Eric isn't worried about what they have done. He's much more concerned about the fact that he can't seem to stop.

Well.

This thing…it's called having expectations. I must say it sucks. It's been sucked in the past and it keeps sucking. It keeps haunting me and I just know it will bother me for the rest of my life - as long as I'll be reading (romance) books, that is. I did enjoy 30 Days very much and felt I was entitled to having pretty high expectations for this second installment. Don't get me wrong. 30 Nights wasn't a bad book by any means, but it wasn't anything memorable either. It was ok, I guess. Some little mindless fun that dipped its toe into Little Boredomville now and then.

Maybe I felt that way because the buildup failed to catch my undivided attention and all the sex was nothing special either. Too much sex, not enough deep and meaningful interaction between the main protags, and the more I read the less I actually cared for these two. As I saw it, the storyline and characterization also kissed Ms and Mr Superficiality from time to time.

What I found very nice was the fact that the hero's former girlfriend wasn't portrayed as the evil bitch who was out trying to destroy his life. It was, in fact, quite the opposite. I really liked Grace and I'm secretly hoping that this woman will find a good guy who'll offer her all the happiness that she truly deserves. I also liked Glenna's best friend, Jasmine, quite a bit.

“You got laid.”
“Nope.”
“Liar. You only hum when you’ve gotten laid.”
“Nope, nope.”
She snorted. “Yeah right.”
“There was absolutely no penetration.”
“That’s . . . interesting. Oral?”
“He wasn’t even in the same building.”
“How? Because if this boy has a way of getting you off without being present then we need to find a way to sell this ability. I want to be rich. He could make us rich!”

I was annoyed with Glenna for not recognizing that Professor Asshat Mickelson treated her like a bloody doormat. Frankly, I expected her to have a better sense of self-worth, and I wanted her to kick his condescending and self-indulgent ass. Though what happened towards the end of the story was another let down for me. After that I just knew that the shit would hit the fan eventually. It was totally predictable. And after the story had been dabbling its way to the finish line, I couldn't really be bothered any longer and just rolled my eyes a couple times.

Bottom line, 30 Nights didn't do it for me. It did not push the right buttons and did not capture my heart or mind. I have read it and will probably not remember a lot about it in a few weeks. Nothing much happened, to be honest. And not being able to remember the storyline or other seemingly important details is exactly what happens with the majority of romance books these days. And you know why? Because they don't exceed the level of tepid mediocrity.

Color me surprised. I was afraid that I would only come up with a couple sentences for my review. Looks like I did a decent job at explaining my issues. I don't want to put you off with my review, however. Give it a shot. It's possible that it will work out better for you. Although what I'd like to say is, it might be better to lower your expectations. You know how it goes: The secret of happiness is low expectations.

Happy reading!

After her great-grandmother Glenna left her a letter begging her to take a risk, be more adventurous and finding sex cards at her Great Glenna’s funeral Glenna want to take a chance. She discusses the cards with her best friend Jasmine but she didn’t realize they were that loud and the man of her hot dreams heard them talking about him. Finally Eric gets Glenna to accept his proposal to use the cards with him. 30 nights with a hot professor, who wouldn’t want that? Both agree that it’s just for fun, nothing serious but is it that easy to not let things go too far emotionally?

Glenna’s theory is that the cards were left by a woman who lost her husband and finished those cards herself. It seems she’s right and if you are interested in that story you might want to read the book “30 Days” first but it is not necessary to read it first to enjoy this book.

I loved the idea for this book but unfortunately it’s just a like for me. The first part dragged too long. There are hot scenes but further nothing special in my opinion. I need something more... Something which also doesn’t really work for me is Insta-Love.

Overall I did enjoy reading this one and give it 3 stars

Glenna O'Donald is a research student at a college where she shares an office with her best friend. She's known for putting work first and never straying from the rules, not even to do something about her crush on the handsome college professor, Eric Morris. When her great-grandmother passes away she leaves a note behind encouraging Gemma to take risks, to find a man, and to enjoy life without regrets. At the cemetery she finds note cards with instructions, 30 days worth of sexual instructions. After sharing the cards with her friend at work and ignoring her encouragement to use them, she discovers that Eric has heard of her desires to use them with him. He's just as attracted to her, but he has a past that keeps him from wanting to begin a relationship. There's nothing wrong with joining her for an experiment, is there? As they begin to follow the cards they find that passion carries emotion with it.

"You've walked by my office every day for the past year. I'v begun the recognize the sound of your gait. I know it's you and not someone else. You laughter will sometimes reach my office and I can't help but wonder what had made you smile. He looked awkward with his admission."

I really enjoyed 30 Nights from Christine d'Abo and can confirm it can easily be read as a standalone, as I have yet to read the previous novel 30 Days. I absolutely adored reading from Glenna's perspective, she's aware of her flaws, but uncomfortable at putting herself out there. It's clear she surrounds herself with friends more social than herself, unaware of the vibrant nature she too possesses. It was really refreshing to read the character development of Glenna, from meek to confident and assured. Then there's Eric, our handsome hero with a past that you won't guess. I get nervous when I read about a male character wanting just sex and no relationship, but Christine d'Abo tackled that with such finesse. He really is an enigmatic character and, though we don't read from his perspective, it was very clear he was dealing with some things. The way both Glenna and Eric find companionship and the strength to tackle some of their fears together by using sex was really enjoyable to read, especially once the feelings came into place. Mix in the workplace drama and things just take off from there. The book definitely has some twists and the sex-relationship between these two is very hot and cold, but it's a story you don't want to miss.

"Professor. I hope the rest of your evening was enjoyable."
"It was. I had a bit of a run-in with a remote control, but I eventually bent it to my will."

30 Nights totally tugged at my heartstrings, I really liked the relationship that developed between Glenna and Eric, but I could have totally done with more interactions. While it is briefly touched on and we know they spent time together, we don't get to experience those times together so it comes across as pure smut. There is one major plot twist near the end that I also would have loved to see fleshed out, it felt too simple and tied up too easily for how significant a moment it was. It weakened my view of Glenna in the end, though it strengthened my view of others.

"I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie." He started to walk away. "We'll have to make sure that you come again for the sequel."

I wish I had read 30 Days prior to 30 Nights, but I will definitely be going back and doing so now. I absolutely recommend 30 Nights to readers looking for a sexual read with a very real plot. You'll feel hot with desire, laughing at their antics, and then hurting for their struggles, it's all very balanced. I think you'll find yourself wrapped up in the 30 cards and where they lead two lost individuals, I definitely was.

30 Nights is the second installment in Christine d'Abo's adult romance/erotica series titled: 30 Days. The 30 handmade to-do cards gifted to the 30 Days's heroine make a reappearance in this book and they help a new set of characters find confidence and connection. I wasn't quite as invested in these characters' circumstances as I was in the first book but I was still glued to this story because of Ms. d'Abo's engaging writing style. 30 Nights features fairly complex characters, fun romantic tension, sexy scenes, and once again a lesson in fruit-based sexual activity...and yes I just had to google this particular act to make sure it was a real thing - which apparently it is. Why does this surprise me? Haha.

Erotica is not my go-to genre but I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and I find myself searching for any new releases from this author. If you enjoy this genre then check it out!

Glenna O'Donald works as a research assistant at the college where she has had a bit of a crush on a professor for the last year. When her great-grandmother unexpectedly passes away the last thing she expected to find at the cemetery is a pack of sex cards. Pocketing to keep any other unsuspecting mourners for coming across the discovery Glenna is not sure what to do with her find.

Returning to work she gets a lecture from her co-worker and best friend that maybe this is Glenna's opportunity to approach the professor that she's had her eye on. Little did Glenna know Eric Morris has had a bit of a crush on Glenna too but he's had a past that keeps him from wanting to start a relationship.

30 Nights is the second book in the 30 series by Christine d'Abo but would be able to be read fine as a standalone novel. After loving the first book in the series I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second and as expected this was another great addition to the series. This author certainly knows how to tell a sexy story while also warming the heart.

Glenna is a bit of a shy character, she's not inexperienced but she's also not had the best of luck in relationships. Eric was the one with the past that he hasn't been able to escape that haunts him and the two together just worked.

As usual with a book in this series this read is sure to steam up your e-reader but also tug at the heartstrings as you cheer for the couple to get their happy ending.

****ARC was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.****

Pretty good book

This is the second book of the series. I don't think there are any books so far written after this one. I was okay understanding everything in this book without having to read the first book, but I am intrigued to read the first book after reading this one, but I'm hoping that the book will go on sale since the price tag is $5.99.

The plot of this ARC is that Glenna works for a university and is an assistant to a professor that works there. Her grandmother has passed away and after the funeral, she finds cards with sexually explicit instructions. Glenna has a crush on another professor at the university named Eric Morris and he ends up listening to a conversation between Glenna and her best friend whom she shares an office with and ends up volunteering to be her sexual partner to experiment with based on the instructions from the cards.

I did like how Glenna goes from being a timid character to possessing more self-confidence. I didn't really care for Eric's character at the beginning of the book but ended up eventually liking him. I also thought that the story at the beginning was a bit slow and then it sped up quickly. I felt the past of the book throughout could've been a little better and more consistent. Also, the sexy parts weren't too bad, but I thought that they could've been written a little hotter.

I would probably more books from Ms. d'Abo, but unfortunately, it doesn't look like any of her books are on Kindle Unlimited and some of the cost of the books are a bit pricey for me.

At a funeral, Glenna finds a bag containing note cards with thirty days of scintillating sex cards. Who left them there? What should she do? Not having a boyfriend or even a sex buddy, Glenna debates whether to put them back, put them somewhere else, or find someone to act them out with. There's this professor, Eric, she's been crushing on for a year, could he be interested in exploring these cards? Glenna talks with her best friend, Jasmine, about her find and possibly asking Eric to help her. But he doesn't even know who she is, right! Wrong! What she doesn't know is that Eric is listening outside the door!

Eric doesn't quite know what to think. He heard his name coming from the other office and when he goes to investigate, he hears the girls talking about the sex cards! Glenna definitely has been on his radar, but he's been soured by a bad break-up and didn't want to take another chance at heartbreak. Maybe this is what he needs to move forward. Ever since he heard them talking, he can't get the cards out of his head.

Eric confronts Glenna about the cards and what he heard. She owns up to it-I liked that about her-and they discuss possibly doing this. They both lead rather mundane lives working for a college and maybe this is just what they need to spice up their lives! The decision is made to look at it as a project and forge ahead with thirty nights of sex.

The sexual journey Glenna and Eric embark on in 30 Nights is pleasureable. It is book two in the 30 Days series by Christine d'Abo, but book one it is not required reading to enjoy this book! I knew the direction this book was headed and I usually enjoy the journey getting there, but this book was a little lackluster for me. I loved 30 Days(book one) and I guess I had high expectations for 30 Nights. The story seemed to really drag at times. And the sex, it was good-pleasurable like I said, but not really exciting. This had the makings of an out of the box sizzling affair, but it fell short-way short. Unfortunately, it didn't wrap itself around my heart, squeeze, and make me race to the finish.

And her boss, Professor Mickelson, what an idiot! He just plain uses Glenna. He was using her research as his own and treated her like crap! I would've loved for her to stand up for herself! Especially after everyone was telling her he was a moron.

That being said, I did like how Eric's past girlfriend, Grace, was portrayed. She wasn't a snarky bitch as you would have expected. She was strong, in control, and very happy in life. I really liked her. I would like to see a book giving us her story! I also liked Jasmine! She kept Glenna in line-as any best friend should-and only wanted the best for her! Maybe we will be treated to her story as well!

One last thought..... I will never look at a banana the same again!! Something that I may like to do! You'll know what I mean if you give this book a try! If you do, it may turn out to be your next great read!

3.5 stars/3.5 flames

I was gifted this book for the express purpose of an honest review. The rating and review are solely my opinion and in no way was I compensated.

AVAILABLE TODAY
I've been a fan of Christine D'Abo since I read The Bond That Ties Us. I liked her style of mixing scifi, intrigue, action, strong women, romance, and sex. It's what I would label a paranormal romance with extended sexy time. This is the first contemporary romance I've read of hers and I would classify it as erotica light.

The story is of two bookish people, in good shape, with some issues who are attracted to each other - but always hovering. Anyone with esteem issues can relate to the extended cautionary hover period. In their case it has gone on way too long, and likely nothing would have ever happened, when Glenna has a life changing event. Her great grandmother, and namesake, dies leaving Glenna last words of encouragement towards a more adventurous life.

At the funeral Glenna discovers a set of note cards with thirty days of naughty, and escalating, sexy fun. Playing out the cards becomes the excuse Glenna and Eric need to find each other.

There are no guns, serial killers, space aliens, psychic powers, werewolves, vampires, or horny Bigfoots. It's not even particularly kinky, with the exception of a banana trick I had never heard of and now want to try.

Hat tip Ms. D'Abo.

This is just two ordinary people getting out of their heads and into each other. It was sweet. Basically a three star romance but I'm giving it another star for the banana, lol!

'30 Nights' by Christine d'Abo is book two in the "30 Days' Series. This is the story of Glenna O'Donald and Professor Eric Morris This is a standalone book I thought.
Glenna has had the hots for Eric for about a year but doesn't think she is even on his radar. Glenna is somewhat shy and doesn't seem to be very good at relationships. Then a family member passes and at the cemetery Glenna finds a set of 'sex cards'. Glenna tells her best friend what she has found and she tries to talk her into using them with Eric....that this might be Glenna chance to make contact with him. Glenna doesn't think she will do it but Eric happens to over hear her and her best friend and move to talk to her about it.
Now the door has been open for them to possibly have a sexual relationship.
This was a really hot read!!

This draaagged even after speeding up the audio, had almost no humor, and almost no plot.
The only person I liked was Glenna’s hilarious best friend Jasmine, and even she crossed the line into pest sometimes.

I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review and here it is: 3 stars.

I did not read the preceding novel in this series, but narrative in this novel was sufficient to understand the backstory of this erotic romance.

When Glenna O'Donald, a research assistant at a college, is at the bedside of her dying and beloved great grandmother, known as Great Glenna, for whom she was named, she is handed an envelope. In it Great Glenna tells her to go out and enjoy every moment of her life, to do all the things she's dreamed of and wished for. Shortly thereafter, after Great Glenna's funeral service has ended, she notices a bag containing some papers blowing away. Since she's unsure of which grave they were blown from, she takes them home. Once home, she discovers 30 sex cards, all with different erotic instructions/suggestions.

For the past year, she's been lusting after one of the Professors at the college, Eric Morris, but she's been afraid to so much as speak with him. Her life and work at the college is mundane, the professor for whom she works treats her like a doormat and she accepts it. The one good part of her job is that she works and shares an office with her best friend, Jasmine. When she tells Jasmine about her find, Jasmine tells her to go for it, that she's got no life outside the office, and what life she does have is dull, boring and routine. What she soon learns is that Eric has overheard the conversation, and is interested, for reasons of his own, in helping her enact those 30 sex cards--and do they ever.

The opening of this novel moves very slowly, and the relationship between Glenna and Eric is supposed to be 30 days of sex only--no emotion, no relationship, just sex. While these two characters are engaging in a variety of sex games, the sensual eroticism they appear to be enjoying didn't engage this reader. It was strange to read these scenes and yet feel not a single degree of heat between these characters, and quite frankly, I'm unsure whether the fault lies in the author's description of these numbered sexcapades or in my lack of empathy for these characters. I think the missing piece was the lack of emotional attachment between Eric and Glenna. Eric is very closed off emotionally, mentions that his problem is with a previous relationship, but gives Glenna no details. This on again, off again, far too pre-planned sexual deal, turned me off completely, as did the instant love that magically appears after Glenna calls off the assignations mid-stream.

Although it's not a badly written novel, I think it's poorly paced--too slow in the beginning and too fast to be believable at the end, and also that it's lacks the emotional depth that draws in the reader.

30 Nights by Christine D’Abo was phenomenal! I haven’t read a het book for a while now, so I was kind of, meh, about reading it. That feeling was replaced by giddiness almost from page one! I fell in love instantly with all the characters! I loved the interactions between them, they seemed natural. I also adore Glenna and her offbeat quirkiness. All around I freaking LOVED this book!

Glenna is an amazingly complex character but doesn’t distract from the storyline. If that makes sense. She has so many layers to her, and we get to watch her peel them away throughout the story. Though seemingly meek and introverted, she blossoms through the book into a really amazing woman. It helped that she had a strong supporting MC, who really complimented her character.

Eric was a fun character to learn about. Very stoic and quiet at first, but he slowly breaks free of his silence and really becomes a character I can love. I liked how the martyr thing was reversed. Generally in het books I find the chick always being the martyr and taking everything unto themselves. But not Eric, oh no. He decided that he would be the martyr and I almost despised him for it, luckily Glenna came in and saved the day!

This story on a whole is full of laughs, a LOT of hot steamy scenes, and a cast of realistic and engaging characters. This got a solid 5 star rating for the originality (at least to me) I love the idea of using sex cards to “break the ice”. The ONLY complaint I could find was Glenna got lost in her head a lot, and unfortunately took us with her. Really though it was interesting, but seemed kind of repetitive. I highly recommend this book to everyone and I really want to read the first in the series! It’s been added to my never ending TBR list! I will get to it eventually! Pinky promise!

University research assistant Glenna O'Donald has spent most of her adult life as a shy, introverted, workaholic. She's had a crush the man in the next office, Professor Eric Morris, for a while, but has been too hesitant to say anything. At her great-grandmother's funeral, Glenna gets a letter telling her to break out of her rut and do something daring -- and then she finds the cards. The papers she picks up aren't trash, but instead a handmade set of cards, encouraging an unknown woman to go out and explore her sexuality.

Professor Eric Morris has been intrigued by the researcher next door, but wasn't sure if she'd be interested in dating -- until he overhears Glenna and her office mate talking about the sexy cards (and about him). He had a bad breakup in his past and isn't sure if he wants a serious relationship, but he's interested in Glenna enough to propose a plan -- that they try out the cards, together.

This series probably would have made more sense if I'd read book 1 (30 Days) first, since it explains where the mysterious cards come from (a husband dying of cancer makes them for his wife to use in helping her learn to love again). Eric is a different type of romantic hero, sweet and caring instead of the more aggressive alpha males commonly found in kinky fiction. Glenna and Eric are a good couple, and their journey seems real and grounded, despite this being a romance novel.

I liked the first book in this series, wasn't sure how it could become a series though. That left me a bit leery when I started this one, but with the cards and a random chance encounter as the thread to connect them it worked.

Once I got over my first issue I quickly had another one, Eric. He was a cold fish! I didn't see how Glenna found him attractive or even interesting. I did like that Eric made the first move, that his overhearing about the cards made him engage Glenna in a more real way. That firmly left things in her hands, something that Eric seemed to do over and over again, a good thing when they were in the situation they were.

I thought their sexy times were great! It seemed to take both of them out of their the daily mundane grind, which they needed. You could tell that Glenna was getting a little more invested than Eric and I worried that would come to a big blow up. While a blow up happened it happened in a way that I didn't see coming. I hated that Glenna had to go through what she did, but she ended up in a better place all around. New challenges and a guy who was open to sharing his life with her.

Before beginning this book I had no idea there was a previous book before it. I don't think it made one bit of difference because this could read as a stand alone but know I want to know more about the first book. I love the concept of how the sex cards began. For some odd reason it really touched a part of my soul, maybe just maybe it was because of the depth of the love Alyssa's husband had for her.

The passion and adventure that followed the discovery of the cards provides Glenna and Eric the beginning of what turns out to be an very erotic adventure. As the book progresses so do the erotic scenes and the build up of emotions. I found the characters and their pasts (and yes, I love explanations of what builds a character) endearing and rather addictive.

Over all I really did fall into the story. The ending was perfection. I can't even hint at where it lead because I wouldn't want to ruin it for not even one person. You have to read it with an open mind which I believe will have you feeling a sense of completion. This book was much better than I anticipated and I will be going back and reading 30 days to get Alyssa's complete story.

I loved 30 Days but this was a bit boring and predictable. It's not a bad book but I never connected with the protagonists, especially with Eric. He seemed like a cold fish. The whole story felt rather uninspired and lacked novelty. This author can do so much better.

After reading "30 Days," I was excited to read this one and had high expectations. It seemed like a great premise and the first few chapters were actually encouraging.

Professor Eric seemed like a hot, secretly alpha male, who had the hots for Glenna, a research assistant in the same department. Only he kept those desires secret and she didn't think he even knew her name. Glenna has had a major crush on Eric for the past year, but has yet to get up the courage to speak to him really. Glenna's great grandmother dies and while she's leaving the funeral, she finds that sex cards that Alyssa left on the grave of her dead husband at the end of "30 Days." So she thinks, hey, this is a great way for me to get Eric's attention (because that makes total sense). He overhears her discussing the cards with her best friend and offers to help her act out what's on those cards, but of course, a relationship is off the table.

That's about where things go downhill in this one. Eric turns out to be a guy who is still blames himself for something related to his ex and he has a hard time getting over that. He's timid/shy at times and not at all the confident alpha male he makes himself out to be when he offers his 'services' to Glenna. It just seemed like his personality did a total 180 for half the book.

Glenna annoys me since she lets her boss run over her for so long. Everyone sees it but her, so I don't get why she didn't stand up for herself and all the work she did on her own for someone who didn't appreciate it.

The funniest part of the book is the whole villain/superhero role playing. That was hilarious and not at all sexy. I couldn't help but chuckle through that scene. Most of the sex scenes were just blah and not memorable. You would think after Book 1, these would have lived up to the same expectations, but they were lacking.

As with most books like these, Eric dumps Glenna and she's all heartbroken, but she at least has more guts than he does to go after what she wants to make her happy. They get their HEA - or I assume they do since we don't really get an epilogue to know how things worked out in the future. I didn't really see a lot of 'love' between these two. There was infatuation, yes, but they didn't really go out on a lot of dates, didn't do anything around family or colleagues, etc., so I'm left wondering when that crush turned into love.

A decent read, but probably not one I'll remember months down the road.

30 nocí vášne je voľným pokračovaním 30 dní touhy, avšak môžete to čítať bez prečítania prvého dielu. V tomto príbehu sú nové postavy a nové osudy.
.
.
A kto ten niekto bude?
.

"The heroine, Glenna O'Donald, in her late 20s, is a very reasonable and reserved human being who does a stellar job at a university as a research assistant.

After that kiss, I just knew that the shit would hit the fan eventually.

Happy reading!"

PoV: First
Type of Narration (ToN): Solo, by Zoe McKay
Location: Canada
Time: Current
Language
Sex Rating: 4 (Out of 5, even though listed as "erotic")

This book fell pretty flat for me. I did listen to the audiobook, by a narrator I am not fond of, which may have changed the tone... But the way in which the author d'Abo presented Glenna's plight and her reasoning for things was just BEYOND abnoxious. Right at the beginning of Glenna's agreement set forth with Eric, he SPECIFICALLY says that it will only be about sex. That he will basically be using her. And she enters into that agreement, verbally saying she understands, and that she too is entering into the agreement for her own sexual reasons. Except then she starts to get attached. And she starts getting clingy, and needy, and jealous. And had Eric and Glenna actually been in a relationship, Eric's behavior would have been frustrating coming from a boyfriend.... But THEY WERE ONLY IN IT FOR THE SEX. And so Glenna spending half of the book being a whiny, jealous witch was SO FRUSTRATING for me to read! Many times I wanted to scream at the book "You agreed to this! You wanted this!" If she wanted to changed the terms, she needed to speak up BEFORE becoming jealous! And Eric's issues are not hers!
Another thing that bothered me a lot is that she was so dependant on others. I'm not sure how things are in the city she lives in (Alberta? I can't remember, someone comment if they know), but she is an adult! How does she not have her own car!! And why doesn't she stand up for herself when her boss is a jerk? So many times she is passive and helpless! Come on, grow a backbone, ask for what you want, grow up and use your big girl words. AND BUY A FREAKING CAR!

... These issues with the book are probably my issues, I didn't lower the rating because of them. Besides my issues, the book was just average. The story didn't stand out. The book was written ok, but didn't stand out (nor was it awful). It wasn't a ground breaking, life altering book. Ehhh. It was average all around.

Audiobook: The recording was awful in some places, with loud background noises and thumps. The continuity was ok, but the editing was weird. The narrator would immediately end a sentence and the next chapter would smush up against the last word. Like-
Then she went for a walkChapter4 (long pause) .... After the walk. It was so weird. Also, I very much dislike Zoe McKay's voice, especially for "romance". She does not have a "sexy" or "erotic" way of speaking or narrating.

At the end of 30 Days, we saw Alyssa leave the sex cards at the cemetery and Glenna discover them. This is Glenna’s story and whereas Alyssa’s deceased husband gave her the cards to help her move on, they prove to help Glenna learn to take chances. She has a comfortable, predictable life as a research assistant but she believes she’s not meant for adventures. This broke my heart. Between a letter from her recently deceased great-grandmother encouraging her to take more risks and discovering the sex cards, Glenna is primed to make some big changes.

For the past year, Glenna has had a crush on Eric, a professor in a different department. She has no idea that he’s been interested in her or vice-versa. But the sex cards help them both take a step out of their comfort zones. I really liked how this handled the power dynamics and how well consent was handled between them. One of the more interesting parts of this series is seeing which cards each couple decides to do, making for some very memorable scenes.

There were a few loose threads that never got addressed.

Lastly, I wish that Eric had had to grovel instead of Glenna going after him. I understand why she felt she had to fight for the relationship but because of their dynamics, it would have been so much stronger had he recognized his unhealthy patterns and gone about fixing them. I'm not entirely comfortable with her going behind his back to learn what happened with his ex either.

Despite all this, I did truly enjoy reading this story. It was moving and it was hot and what more do you really need?

Like 30 Days, the follow up 30 Nights is also smut with a plot, so if that's not your cup of tea, be aware.

About halfway through, I realized what bugged me in the first installment. Two words: lost potential. Why did I realized that? Because 30 Nights explored cards 30 Days didn't. I think it's actually good to read them in succession, one makes you appreciate the other more.

30 Nights is catnip for me on multiple levels: remembering a snarky great grandmother? University staff setting? Professor hero? Lingerie kink? Awesome smut? Check, check and check. There was a lot for me to love here. Honestly, the only thing I didn't like was how Christine d'Abo has an annoying habit of introducing a conflict and then sweeping it under the rug without resolution. She did thid in the previous book too, it's lazy storytelling. Besides that, I was a bit annoyed by Eric being a man, but actually his idiot brooding behaviour didn't feel forced in the last conflict, it just felt men. The conflict wasn't all over the place and it got reasonably resolved.

Simply based on the great excution of my catnips and the spark between two main characters who had personalities and communication, I am very happy.
