A Wish on Gardenia Street by Shelley Shepard Gray is a novella in the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series. This is the first book I’ve read in this series and by this author. The story was fast-paced and enjoyable. This story focuses on Zack and Leona’s wedding. We also get to see Leona’s friend Mattie and her hopes for love.
I liked this story. Mattie and Leona were such good friends and I loved reading about them and their relationships. I liked the mentions of Ohio and Sugarcreek. I am from Ohio and not too far from Sugarcreek. I have visited it a few times and have wanted to go back. Shelley Shepard Gray gave me the opportunity to enjoy an Amish story that felt authentic. This light, sweet, simple Amish romance novella is well-written and perfect for curling up with on a summer afternoon.

Mattie is going to Pinecraft, FL to attend the wedding of her best friend Leona. She is also hoping to spend more time with Danny, a boy whom she met during her last visit to the town. However, things don't exactly turn out as Mattie had dreamed they would. Will Mattie get her happy ending?
This was a very sweet and easy to read novella. The characters are all familiar and it was fun to catch up with them again. The flow of the story is great and makes the novella easy to read in just one setting.

When I started reading this novella I felt like I was coming home! I love this series that started with The Promise of Palm Grove. I think it is best to start with the original and read the books in order to feel the full effect of this lovely town, its people and the amazing way the stories flow so beautifully. Even though A Wish on Gardenia Street is a novella, its impact is just as warm and cozy as the others before it. Another hit out of the ballpark!

This was a quick, cute story. This was Mattie's story. It was marked as a romance, but there's almost no romance in this story. Instead, this is a story about friendship and faith.

In a Wish on Gardenia Street we get to see Leona marry her love Zack. This is the couple from the first book in the series The Promise of Palm Grove. Here we pick up with the week of their wedding. Leona's friend Mattie arrives with stars in her eyes determined she's going to marry the groom's best friend. After all, that's what a few letters exchanged means right? I was hooked right from the beginning wanting to see this couple get married but was a bit put off by Mattie's love stuck ideals. What's so special about best friends marrying best friends. I get it though, she wanted what Leona had, the stars in your eyes forever kind of love. It made sense to her she could find it in Zack's best friend. She didn't find love but what she found was a true meaningful friendship that will last a lifetime. Normal couples experience stress when planning a wedding and Amish couples are no different. However, add in a crazy cat lady who has lost her beloved cat Serena and you have the makings of a disaster! Not only are Zack and Leona trying to plan a wedding but now Zack is charged with finding Mrs.Sadler's cat. Why she chooses Zack nobody really knows but he feels a loyalty to the lady and has always been successful in returning Serena in the past. Needless to say it isn't as easy as it seems and all four friends are out looking for the cat daily while trying to plan a wedding. One of my favorite lessons and quotes from the book is "All she had to do was believe, dream, hope, and have faith". No matter what we face: a wedding, a runaway cat, a love struck friend...whatever, as long as we have faith in God all of it will work out for the good just as He promised. And Yes, the cat was found along with a few extra surprises. Who doesn't love surprises??

In this lovely novella, Shelley Shepard Gray takes us on a bus ride back to beautiful Pinecraft, Florida. We’re going back with Mattie Miller for her best friend Leona’s wedding. Mattie is also looking forward to seeing Danny Brenneman again. They’ve been corresponding since her first visit there. She’s hoping a romance will bloom and she’ll be able to move to Pinecraft and live near her best friend.
While there is still plenty to do before the wedding, that rascally cat Serena is missing again. You’ll remember that Leona and Zack met when Zack was trying to get Serena out of a tree. Mrs. Sadler is frantic because her precious cat has once again disappeared even though Serena does it on a regular basis. This time, however, she’s been gone longer than usual.
I love that the Amish think of others and put their needs aside to help each other. As I mentioned, Leona has much to do before her wedding and Mattie came to town early to help her. Even with all that, the four friends spend a great deal of their time in search for missing Serena.
You’ll enjoy spending time with our four friends again. You’ll love going back to Yoder’s for pie and Olaf’s for ice cream. You’ll be so engrossed in the lives of our friends and finding Serena that you won’t want to put this book down.
Where is that darn cat?! Why did she stay away this time instead of returning home? Does love bloom for Mattie and Danny? What of the wedding? Did everything get done in time? You’ll have to pick up this book and find out!

What a cute novella Shelley Shepard Gray has added to her new series An Amish Brides of Pinecraft series.

When she and her two best friends made their first trip to Sarasota, Florida. Now she is returning to Pinecraft to attending the wedding of her best friend, Leona Weaver. Mattie Miller travels by bus from Walnut Creek, OH to Sarasota, FL and stays at Orange Blossom Inn to attend the wedding of her best friend, Leona, to fiancé, Zack. Since she last saw Leona, Danny Brenneman and Mattie had been exchanging several letters. Mattie took the communication as a sign that Danny may be interested in more than just friendship. And so, she’s anxious to see Danny again.
Mrs. Sadler is in a tizzy because her cat, Serena, is missing. It’s not the first time, but Mrs. Sadler gets upset each time. So, the four, Leona, Zack, Mattie, and Danny take off looking for Serena. When Mattie first sees Danny, he smiles at her, but makes little effort to get her alone so they can talk. Mattie is not sure what to think; he’s sending mixed messages.
This was a short and very pleasant read. I did think that Mattie kind of jumped the gun a bit with Danny. She practically demanded to know of his interest in her one way or the other. The characters stayed true to their Amish tradition and their actions very authentic. It’s a clean romance, but it is really more about friendship and a very close-knit community. My kindle version of the book included excerpts from both A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn and A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft. Rating: 4 out of 5.

A Wish on Gardenia Street is a short, sweet, simple and to the point novella. I love all the characters in this one and was so happy for Leona and Zack! There is nothing like having your friends and family come together for an Amish wedding. Then the cat Serena! Oh I am so glad she got a small part in this book as well. I love the way Shelley's characters are so endearing and how they are so willing to help each other out even when their own plates are full. Mattie and Danny I think had to figure out who they each were inside and come into their own. Once they were able to do that things were easier for them.
Even thought this was a novella, the pace of this book was just right and I could not put it down. It read smoothly and brought back a lot of memories for me as I have visited Pinecraft myself. Shelley really has captured it perfectly. I could almost feel the sun on my face and taste that pie from Yoder's. As the series continues I really hope that we will get to read more about Mattie and some of the other characters mentioned in this novella. I 100% enjoyed this story and highly recommend it! “A Wish on Gardenia Street” is an Amish Brides of Pinecraft novella by Shelley Shepard Gray. This is the story of Mattie, who is on her way to Florida for her best friend’s wedding. On her last trip to Pinecraft, Mattie met Danny, a local boy, and they have been writing back and forth for months. Mattie hopes that on this trip she and Danny will fall in love, and soon she will be planning her own wedding! As is often the case, things don’t go quite the way she hopes. Much of the trip prior to the wedding ceremony is spent searching for Serena, Winnie Sadler’s cat. Mrs. Sadler is distraught over the cat’s disappearance, and will give them no peace until the animal is found. “A Wish on Gardenia Street” is a delightful story of faith, and how God makes circumstances work together for our good. Ms. Gray’s gift of storytelling will draw you in to the lives of these characters. An enjoyable story!

A Wish on Gardenia Street by: Shelley Shepard Gray is the continuation of Zack and Leona's love story. Leona's friend Mattie shows up a week early to help with final preparations for her upcoming life event. The first thing Mattie does is help to search for Serena, the cat. Serena, who is always escaping belongs to an older lady who is the neighbor of Zack's parents. After getting a late start on Mattie's second day in town, she and Leona go to the fabric store so they can start on some of their projects. I was hoping they would find Serena quickly so everyone could enjoy Zack and Leona's event in peace. The day before the event they find Serena and are able to return her safely to Mrs. Saddler with a special surprise. Leona's party day was not perfect, but in the end it turned out fine. On the bus ride home Mattie is surprised to connect with another passenger, Ben. I can't wait to see where this might go! Five stars again.

Mattie arrives to be in her friends wedding and to help her get things ready, but she has her own plans, and in her mind she has her life all planned out. Reality is different and she may just find out that what she wants is not what God has planned for her.
Come and enjoy another stay in this Plain Community, my mind keeps painting pictures of living here. We walk the streets and go to the shops, and we have a sewing frolic to make the necessary things for the wedding. Will Mattie get all that she wants, or will she end up going home?
I loved this quick read, only 112 pages, and being able to read in one sitting.

Shelley Shephard Gray takes us back to Pinecraft for a fun filled reunion between friends that she introduced us to in the first book in the series, The Promise of Palm Grove.
The reunion would not be complete without Serena the cat and her tendency to roam.
I loved this story for many reasons.
The way that this author seamlessly takes her readers back to a location and brings back characters that I've come to love is one of those reasons.
Ms Gray's dialogue, and vivid descriptions are but a couple of other examples as to what makes this novella such a joy to read. I could clearly see Leona and Mattie as they walked along the streets of Pinecraft and I enjoyed the conversations they shared.
A quick and easy beach read that I highly recommend.
Definitely 5 stars

A WISH ON GARDENIA STREET is the story of Mattie who has imagined that her penpal, Danny and she had developed a mail relationship. So Mattie happily goes to Pinecraft for her best friend's wedding, confident that she will end up engaged.
Add wedding plans, a missing cat, and other plans going awry and Mattie's wishes seem doomed to fail. But along the way she learns a valuable lesson about keeping faith, not giving up, and trusting God knows best.
A great story, but short. I expected one a bit longer than this. And while it says 112 pages, this includes two excerpts from other books by Ms. Gray. The story itself is only about 74 pages.
Cute. Recommended for fans of Amish fiction, Ms. Gray, and short stories.

Refreshing and Delightful! A Wish on Gardenia Street by: Shelley Shepard Gray
An Amish Brides of Pinecraft Novella that is sure to delight. This was such a wonderfully refreshing story that will surely capture your heart as it did mine. The characters and the places are so well described in the story that I feel as if I was there with them. I could picture their Amish dresses and their flipflops. I was practically tasting the Key Lime Pie at Yoder’s. I so loved this story. I am looking forward to the next book in the The Pinecraft Brides series. “A Wish on Gardenia Street,” is another great read by Shelley Shepard Gray! Mattie Miller is excited to be arriving in Pinecraft, Florida for her best friend’s wedding. Last time she was there she met a special friend, Danny Brenneman. She is hoping something special will blossom between the two of them. Shelley Shepard Gray brings us back to Pinecraft in her new novella, A Wish on Gardenia Street. We get to see what shenanigans our friends are involved with this time - Leona & Zack, Mattie & Danny. There are wedding plans to finalize, a cat gone missing, and a heart ready to love, but God has other plans. This is a great story to read in one sitting. A quick one that keeps your thoughts hopping. One key item to remember is that it is in God's time, not ours. You see this throughout, and it's good to remember that what we want isn't always what God has planned for us.

A cute and quick read. An Amish Brides of Pinecraft Novella that is sure to delight. I have not read any of the other books but I did not feel like I was loosing anything. I will however be reading the others in this series to learn more about the characters.
The author did such a wonderful job over and beyond as the reader will feel like they are right there in the story with Mattie and Danny. The images become do vivid in your mind you can almost smell and taste what is going on.
A new author to me that will be fun to keep tabs on for new books.

This little novella in the series Amish Brides of Pinecraft, although a bit predictable, nevertheless presents a story of love, trust and following one's heart. Even though Mattie is desperate for love, Danny is obviously not the one for her. As she plans to attend her friend's wedding, she realizes that she cannot change God's plan for her. Once she is able to do that, she relaxes and lets love find her.

This was a cute short story in the "Amish Brides of Pinecraft" series. This story focuses on Mattie Miller as she goes back to Pinecraft, Florida for Leona and Zack's wedding. She stays at the Orange Blossom Inn again and has a great experience. She hopes for a romance but the love bug strikes when she least expects it. There was a search for a cat that had a surprise ending. All in all, this has me looking forward to the next book in the series.

Wow! What an awesome novella. It is a quick read. In fact I found I could not put it down. It is very well written. I felt like I was right there in Pinecraft with the characters looking for Serena the cat who is lost. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. What a sweet little short read from author Shelley Shepard Gray. This novella goes along with the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series. This is a story you can read in one setting. The reader feels as if he is one of the characters in the book onlooking. Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series,as I didn't want this book to end. This is a wonderful story placed in Pinecraft, FL. It felt just like a homey place for me to return. I felt the sadness Mattie felt when things didn't work out as she had anticipated. But, I was also able to experience her joy for her friend, Leona. Such a gentle read yet full of all kinds of life situations. How Mattie deals with all that is happening makes a truly delightful story.

This is a novella that takes place after book 2 in the series. (I happened to read it after I finished the series.) Mattie Miller, whom we met in book 1, returns to Pinecraft for her friend Leona's wedding. Leona was engaged to Mattie's brother when they visited Pinecraft - and Leona met Zach. Leona was already questioning if Mattie's brother was the right man for her when she started falling in love with Zach. At the time, Mattie met Zach's friend Danny, and they've been corresponding since Mattie returned home. Now, back in Pinecraft for the wedding, Mattie is hoping that Danny will move to the next step and begin courting her. She dreams of marrying Danny and living in Pinecraft near Leona and Zach, but sometimes dreams take an unexpected turn.
I enjoyed Mattie's story, as well as getting different details about Leona's wedding.

This was a novella that I grabbed off the shelf at random with no idea where it fell in the series it was tied to, but aside from the fact that there was some back story I wish I'd read first, it was a fun introduction to the series and the author's writing style. Considering how hard it is to truly bring out character development and have a decent plot in the short space that a novella allows, I felt that this was a fairly good example of one. There was both seriousness and humor revealed in its few pages, and I enjoyed reading it, but the end annoyed me because it introduced a possible new story for Mattie's character on the last two pages. Anyway, I know now that I want to read the rest of the series.

This was a quick visit to Pinecraft as our main character was not falling in love and leading us to a wedding. There were hopes as she was in Pinecraft for a wedding of her best friend and she hoped to find out if her penpal was going to be in her life as more than a friend. I enjoyed the story and will be checking to make sure I have gotten all of the Pinecraft books read since reading them in order didn't happen.

I know it was only a novella and they're meant to be short, but it just didn't feel long enough for my tastes. I like to get into things and get to know the characters better. And, just once, it might be nice to have an Amish novel where every girl in it doesn't have "Catch me a man" as her ultimate goal in life.

What a cute little story. I'm not a big cat fan, but Serena's story awww! It looks promising for Mattie maybe there will be a match for her with Ben.

Ok as a short story. I dislike, resent these tiny things being passed off as books.
