When the evil Demon Card society begins using the power of the Dark Bring to destroy anything in their path, it's up to sixteen-year-old Haru Glory to find the RAVE stones--the only things capable of stopping the Dark Bring--and keep the sinsister secret society from destroying the world.
Hiro Mashima (Jap: 真島ヒロ) is a Japanese manga artist.
He gained success with his first serial Rave, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1999 to 2005. His best-selling work, Fairy Tail, published in the same magazine from 2006 to 2017, became one of the best-selling manga series with over 72 million copies in print. Mashima began the currently ongoing Edens Zero in 2018.
Fairy Tail won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga in 2009, and Mashima was given the Harvey Awards International Spotlight award in 2017 and the Fauve Special Award at the 2018 Angoulême International Comics Festival.
We continue the Blue Guardians Arc and I have to say this is not my favorite arc. It seems almost out of place which is weird because there is not many more volumes left to go. Things start picking up a little bit in this volume but still underwhelmed.
The cover and first story match up perfectly together in this the 23rd volume of Rave Master. So much going on in this volume. I rarely give a warning, but since my daughter also reads this there is a suicide attempt by a character in this story. I don’t want to ever take lightly these things and how they can impact others so it may be slightly traumatic for someone to read. My daughter has been enjoying the series, but truth be told she still keeps saying this is a steppingstone to Fairy Tail and so I say this with all sincerely to try to read this series first before Fairy Tail. With that said, there are some pretty cool monster battles within this latest volume and the story has a great flow going. The robot on page 173 was absolutely a homage to Akria Toriyama (creator of Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball). Hiro Mashima is rolling!
I somehow totally missed this volume along the way. I have no idea how that happened (but it probably helps my review of vol. 24 if you know that, eh?), but I went back and corrected the error last night. All the sudden a whole lot of vols. 24-26 make a lot more sense. So the main reason for this review is a cautionary tale: read the series in order, kiddies! Otherwise you're going to find yourself wondering what on earth is going on... anyway, it's the end of the dance contest and the beginning of the Blue Guardians/resistance story arc, and it's the same quality we usually get from Mashima. But please, for the sake of your own sanity, if you're not already reading the series, start with volume 1! *** 1/2
I'm kind of questioning why i decided to read this, but then again Plu is in it and that makes me happy. This manga is pretty funny with a unique(and hella weird) assortment of characters. This ridiculous, hilarious and totally wild manga made my jr. high life bearable .
Haru is still injured yet the enemies don’t care. We’ve got some new Resha memories and the return of Let and Julia. Nice volume even with Branch’s depravity.
