Only Death Could Stop Her Now

The Daughters of Darkness is a series of female heroines who may or may not know each other, but all have the same father, Vlad Montour.

When she finds out one of her marks is actually her sister she let's her go, only to end up on the wrong side of the council.
Forced to prove herself she hunts her next mark, a werewolf. Injured and hungry, she is forced to do what she must to survive. Her actions upset the ancient council and she finds herself now being the one thing she has always despised -- the Hunted.

This is Tori's story by W.J. May. This is a novella. As a courtesy, the author wishes to inform you this novella does end with a cliffhanger. The next book coming out in early Autumn (or sooner) will continue the story.

Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.

The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.

Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.

Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).

After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.

Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.

She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.

This one was way worse than the previous two. Mostly because Tori was snotty and thought herself way smarter than she was. It made almost no sense and everything contradicted itself. A few times being a werewolf was only possible if you were born into it, and later it was possible to be turned by blood. Her wolf sidekick that she referred to as her pup, she also said was the only father figure she had. The one guy, Trent, his name switched to Travis and back to Trent three paragraphs later. And the opening chapters of this book is basically the same scene as a few chapters in Blair, where she meets her sister and let's her get away. I'm fine with that, until the point where they have two different conversations in what is clearly supposed to be the same interaction told by a different point of view. The whole story was confusing and annoying.

I liked it. I didn't love it. I enjoyed the supernatural world and I want to read more about all these mythical creatures but I didn't like the instalove. She had, like, ONE conversation with him before calling him her potential soul-mate. I also didn't like how short it was. About 50 pages. I feel it's too short even for a novella. However, I will be continuing the series because I am interested in the story (despite the instalove).

Victoria, daughter of Vlad the Impaler is sent out to hunt those that the Council wants killed. What happens on one of her contracts that gets her in trouble with the Council? what happens when she is separated from her hunting partner and forced to go after someone on her own? Found in a bar, at work, the mark and his brother try to get away from her. Another hunter vampire shows up and attacks Victoria instead of eliminating the target. When he is killed by one of the people she was there to kill, his mate and hunting partner goes back to the council and lies to them about Victoria and what happened. She knew what happened, but she lied. A contract is taken out on Victoria. What happens? What happens when she is severely injured and needs blood. How does she get it? What happens when she does?

What was the author doing here? First off, if you and three other authors are going to collaborate to make a series, you better damn well make sure that the stories line up when the characters meet. The author took her own liberty with it and completely changed their interaction.

Then the line “But I’m so complicated and flawed” immediately made me want to stop reading. I believe that was at the end of chapter 2, chapter 3 was my breaking point. She said that she didn’t know who sent her but didn’t she tell Blair in Blair’s story that it was their dad?

Then she goes and says that she was ordered to bring her back, not kill her. Hmm. Sure didn’t seem like it when you were trying to kill her in the woods.

I just couldn’t go on anymore. I believe that it really could have been better had the author matched up the stories but that really threw me off.

Thank you for reading my review.

Daughter of darkness Victoria by W.J May
The very first thing that struck me about this book was the amazing cover. It clearly shows a woman who is confident and this novella doesn’t disappoint. It is simply stunning and works great as a standalone. The writing style is impeccable and Victoria’s confidence can easily rub off on you. The words are simply alive. As the story unfolds you can watch it before your very eyes as the wording and description doesn’t leave a lot of work for the imagination (in a very good way).
I am looking forwards to reading the rest of Victoria’s story
There is a cliff hanger at the end of this story
If you enjoyed twilight then you will enjoy this!!!
Im rating this novella 5 stars

I was looking for a short book but damn this was really short. I finished it in like an hour.
Overall the book was good.
I had it downloaded for a long time. I'd even read a little bit of Blair, so finding her in here was a pleasant surprise.

Ofcourse Evan is her mate. Also their names are confusing me. Eddie and Evan. Are Malcolm and Hemish together? Idk
Too much rh has made me think that she should end up with both Evan and Eddie. But sadly that's not gonna happen.

I knew I would like this because it's W J May. I don't think I've ever not liked any of her books.
Idk if I'll continue this series rn, because I do have like 2 series I'm in the middle of that I need to get back to. If the other books are also this short, I might read them in between sections.

Other than that solid read. As always.

I'mma go read another one now.
Tata.peace.

Edit: I forgot to add, I think she's gonna be half werewolf. It got activated when she drank from Evan. Also maybe the other three sisters are also halflings.

Following the storyline to its conclusion, I decided to stick with Victoria, the Vampire/Werewolf assassin/enforcer. Yes, sounds charming, but the whole story revolves around her finding out that there is a whole side to her, that is actually much more companionable than the initial label. There are four volumes to the story of this character, but just for once I did not mind.

The third of four books by four different authors, and this is the weakest and least interesting of them. I will probably read more of this authors work, but not in any hurry to continue with this character.

Intriguing But Dull

I found this book interesting in it's premise but full in it's execution. It was too short and needed more time to spend time with the characters and get attached to them.

Very short story. (74 pages on my reader)

Ended in a cliffhanger. Not sure if I'll read any more. This is the first and only book I've read by this author or in this series. It was okay. But I feel like I would have understood the world and plot better had I read other books first.

This book was performed very well by Angel. She really did give the leading lady a great snarky spunky attitude. With a strong woman who knows what she wants it’s a winner for me.

Review:

This is not the first book that I have read by W.J. May and it certainly won’t be the last. I love the “Badass” women that May portrays in her stories.
Plot - Victoria is the Vampire daughter of the Prince of Darkness. She is also a trained hunter killing supernatural beings that the council run by her father no longer wants around. In this story Victoria finds out that she is not her father’s only child when her father and the council send her to kill a vampire. Victoria realizes that Blair is not some rogue vampire, but her half sister that she never knew about. Blair is also a witch. Something that was thought impossible. A combination of two supernatural beings. When Victoria allows Blair to escape, she is ordered to kill a werewolf, but there is something about this werewolf and his brother who end up saving Victoria when things get crazy and Victoria realizes that her latest assignment is really a trap to kill her. Now the Vampire Hunter becomes the hunted with her new band of friends who happen to be werewolves. This story has many facets and the secrets just keep on coming. There is also an attraction growing between Victoria and the brother of the werewolf she was sent to kill. This is a fast paced book with lots of action and violence. This is the first part of a series and the ending is a cliffhanger. Already we see Victoria growing as a character as well as the people around her. I can’t wait to see where this all goes.

This is not a book. It's a couple of chapters for the book. Which IMHO is how it should be presented !
Also, the other chapters are basically the same as the first, except that it is being recounted by the other sister.
And there are several inconsistencies in the retelling. Things just don't match up!
If you enjoy reading a chapter, then by all means.......read this. You might enjoy it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Selene from Underworld. I love it! Another fact I’m enjoying is the basics (vampire hierarchy, vampires being hunter, werewolves being toxic to vampires, etc.) are present in many paranormal romances versus young adult novels (remember twilight and sparkly vampires?) creates more a safety blanket where there’s less confusion and having to guess what the terms used means from one author to the next. From the very beginning, readers are met with action but not enough to make one feel overwhelmed – every action, thought and speech/conversation are either self-explanatory or explained in the next few paragraphs. I enjoyed W.J. May’s style of writing – it took out the guess work of the mystery and simply enjoyed a novel for what it truly is: a story in which I can lose myself in the character and the paranormal world of vampires and werewolves.
