Jason Aaron grew up in a small town in Alabama. His cousin, Gustav Hasford, who wrote the semi-autobiographical novel The Short-Timers, on which the feature film Full Metal Jacket was based, was a large influence on Aaron. Aaron decided he wanted to write comics as a child, and though his father was skeptical when Aaron informed him of this aspiration, his mother took Aaron to drug stores, where he would purchase books from spinner racks, some of which he still owns today.

Aaron's career in comics began in 2001 when he won a Marvel Comics talent search contest with an eight-page Wolverine back-up story script. The story, which was published in Wolverine #175 (June 2002), gave him the opportunity to pitch subsequent ideas to editors.

In 2006, Aaron made a blind submission to DC/Vertigo, who published his first major work, the Vietnam War story The Other Side which was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Miniseries, and which Aaron regards as the "second time" he broke into the industry.

Following this, Vertigo asked him to pitch other ideas, which led to the series Scalped, a creator-owned series set on the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation and published by DC/Vertigo.

In 2007, Aaron wrote Ripclaw: Pilot Season for Top Cow Productions. Later that year, Marvel editor Axel Alonso, who was impressed by The Other Side and Scalped, hired Aaron to write issues of Wolverine, Black Panther and eventually, an extended run on Ghost Rider that began in April 2008. His continued work on Black Panther also included a tie-in to the company-wide crossover storyline along with a "Secret Invasion" with David Lapham in 2009.

In January 2008, he signed an exclusive contract with Marvel, though it would not affect his work on Scalped. Later that July, he wrote the Penguin issue of The Joker's Asylum.

After a 4-issue stint on Wolverine in 2007, Aaron returned to the character with the ongoing series Wolverine: Weapon X, launched to coincide with the feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Aaron commented, "With Wolverine: Weapon X we'll be trying to mix things up like that from arc to arc, so the first arc is a typical sort of black ops story but the second arc will jump right into the middle of a completely different genre," In 2010, the series was relaunched once again as simply Wolverine. He followed this with his current run on Thor: God of Thunder.

This issue ties in with the events on the Darth Vader comic book, creating a cohesive continuity. More sweet John Cassady art is always a plus. This issue also introduces fan favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett. This could be the only way Boba Fett fans see their favorite character in official Lucasfilm canon. With the demise of the forer expanded continuity which once sustained Star Wars fandom for years, the enigmatic bounty hunter actually died in the sarlacc pit.

Our boy Luke is off to a planet very close to his heart. He's training to be a jedi. I like the inner battle he is experiencing right now. I hope Aaron explores more of it.

Well Vader on the other hand is having a quiet BFF moment with Jabba while learning more things about the boy who destroyed the Death Star.

I also liked how a possibly new character is introduced in the story, who perhaps would go face to face with Solo. Now that is something to look forward to!

Great issue that added a ton of backstory to Luke's overall story arc. Love John Cassaday's art. So glad I'm reading this in tandem with Vader. It is one large story between the two series.

Here, we see a bit of overlap with the Darth Vader comics. Vader visits Jabba and mentions the bounty hunters whom he hired to search for Luke and Han, one of which is, of course, Boba Fett, who appears on the final page. There is also another yet-to-be-identified bounty hunter searching for Han Solo. Despite having seen Vader use the Force, Han still does not believe in it. This seems to reiterate his stubborn nature, but it also makes him seem too stupid to realize what he had seen. Luke does not feel that he is worthy enough to be a Jedi and ultimately decides to head to Tatooine to search for answers, which he will probably find in the form of the book in Kenobi's home.

This series keeps getting better and better.

Merged review:

Wow! This was a fantastic filler issue for the new Marvel series Star Wars. The Death Star has been destroyed and the rebels are on the run from...everyone. The last page shot of Boba Fett by artist John Cassaday was beautiful, and visually captures the iconic character of the SW Verse in all his glory. The story line is an amazing combination of untold events taking place after a New Hope, back story development of various SW races, and unseen characters making their presence known in the books.
Great great series. This will be a nice read up until the new Star Wars hits theaters this Winter, 2015.

Love the new Star Wars books, but many people are missing that these should be read in tandem with the new Darth Vader comic as well. They live in the same continuity. You can read one independent of the other, but together makes everything easier to understand. Art is amazing, and the story set between episodes 4 & 5 is a great return to the roots of Star Wars.

More of a setup issue than anything else. Great artwork and characters, but not a whole lot occurred. My interest has been piqued regarding the mysterious person looking for Han Solo.

La 4ª entrega de la serie de comics STARS WAR. En el anterior pasaban más cosas emocionantes, este me resultó que era un poco de transición entre sucesos de la trama.

This review will be the same for Darth Vader, Volumes 1-6 & Skywalker Strikes, Volumes 1-6.

I picked up these comics at the library. I spent about 30 minutes with each one. They are fun. I think the stories mesh well with the films. These volumes need read in order as Vader and Luke are characters in each and the timeline only makes sense if they are read chronologically. I enjoyed most of the artwork, the one exception being Han, the artist just didn't quite capture Harrison Ford. Right now our library only has these volumes, when and if more arrive I will read them as well.

Like previous titles in the graphic series “Skywalker Strikes,” Volume 4 opens with a crawl that sets the scene: the Death Star has been destroyed, Princess Leia is planning another mission with Han and Luke is doubtful he will become a Jedi. Luke goes solo to answer some disturbing questions. Bounty hunters pose a threat to all and Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt discuss strategies. Fans of the franchise and graphic series will enjoy this installment.

First of all, just so you know this book isn't 152 pages long. It is about 22. The rebels have escaped the Cymoon, and now Luke wants to go explore the galaxy himself. He goes to Tattoine, but little does he know that many crime syndicates have prices on him. There are bounty hunters around every corner and Luke isn't being careful, even though he should be.

Absolutely loved it. - 5 out of 5 star rating.

Tatooine fun, full of rodians, hutts, and other scum and villainy. Lord Vader continues to shine as the main star of the show, and there is a surprise visitor at the very end that I am so excited to see introduced in this comic series! is boots on ground! Can't wait to see what happens next.

Luke is having doubts about his abilities after Vader dismissed him so easily. Lots of shady deals going on on Tatooine (as usual). Setting the table for the next several issues

Love the art work

I wish they can produce these comics as a animated series. I will download part five and hopefully it is just as good.

"It is still hard to believe thta this boy of yours, this mighty warrior who destroyed the undestroyable Death Star, could possibly have come from these same empty dunes. Who knew anyone of note was ever born on Tatooine, eh?

This issue pulls back a little bit, where the first few were skirmishes between the Empire and Rebellion, here you have some smaller stories.

The main story follows Darth Vader as he negotiates with Jabba the Hutt.

However, we also get our team licking their wounds. Han and Chewie repair the Falcon, Luke trains his Jedi abilities, and Leia pleads their case to lead an upcoming offensive.

In the end, Luke leaves to find out more about his past and we discover who will be awaiting him, Boba Fett.

The story takes a bit of a step back here as it catches its breath from the previous issues and sets up the next piece of the story.

However, the art steps up to a new high here with some gorgeous panels.

I'm hoping that the slow down in the story will pick up again quickly.

I had mixed feelings on this one. It was good, but it was missing something, probably coherence. There is a LOT of jumping around from one perspective to the other, and after reading the Darth Vader comics, and then getting glimpses of him in this one, I'd rather just see his story, or the rebel story, but the constant switching was daunting instead of fun. However, the bounty hunter scenes were intriguing enough, and different enough, it had me interested.

- It seems like Han and Chewy spend all their free time fixing the Falcon.

- This new mysterious lady is bad news!

- I love the Salacious Crumb panel! Ha ha ha!

- I love that we are getting more back story on Luke becoming a Jedi. It is something we don't get to see a lot of in the movies, besides his training with Yoda.

- Boba Fett!!!!

Star Wars: Skywalker Strikes, Volume 4

R2-D2: “Wwuurruu Breeeep”
C-3PO: “Yes, I am back together. No thanks to you, you cowardly tub of grease.”
R2-D2: “Bwoop Woobeep”
C-3PO: “No. I don't believe they DID misassemble my personality circuits. What a horrible thing for you to say. After everything I've done for you.”

This one covered a lot of ground and was both entertaining and interesting. Still, I think it jumped around too much in an effort to cover all of that ground. It felt like it could have been even better if it had been two comics and fleshed out more of what happened between them.
