Lamest shit ever. I can't even.*

*And yes, I know this is a moronic statement to make, but after having read this book I feel infinitely stupider than I did beforehand and will henceforth be talking like a valley-girl, half-wit, because it was LITERALLY that bad. Like, totally. ZERO STARS.

Me gustó mucho :)

The Motivation Switch is essentially a list of common knowledge things to consider to help you improve your levels of motivation whether personally or professionally. Each of those items is only touched upon in an extremely rudimentary way. There are no how-tos or any kind of deeper explanations. Those of us who face challenges in getting or keeping ourselves motivated will likely not derive any value from such a punch list. Not being able to get going and/or keep up consistent effort is too often rooted in complex personal issues and not in the lack of knowledge surrounding a few basic ideas pertaining to motivation. This book may be of value for those who want to flip it open at random each day in a playful fashion to get an idea on what aspect of motivation to focus on that day or what aspect to look into deeper via other materials.

As a (normally) exceedingly self-motivated individual, I felt like I maayyyyybe needed one of tips in this book (the one about taking a break😂). Overall it’s a nice little collection of way to get motivated, should you need it in your life. But it was written simply (the point?), and maybe could’ve benefitted from a more fine-tooth editing comb (example: use of a few too many adjectives in a row - “amazing day” and “amazing coffee” in the same list, and, in one case, the “US Army Seals”?? I believe we’re looking for the “US Navy SEALs,” perhaps?).

A great collection, but, for me, fell a little short of the mark.

A freebie I picked up on spec… and it’s not bad. A bit like a super long blog post,
When we do well, in video game terms, we level up; if we hit a setback, we lose “health points” which we can quickly regain. Think of life as a game the next time you’re feeling down and anxious, and look for ways to regain “health points” or maybe go on your next quest.
Good point and one that most people will understand.
Other points that I nodded my head at were: raise your standards and change your attitude to money.

After reading many business and motivation al books, for me this was rather a compilation of to dos in order to change your mentality and succeed through own efforts. A pretty good list of 77 things to do nevertheless, worth going through. The one thing I learned from this book is the importance of achieving and completing one major task early morning, for example making the bed. Thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was less about motivation and more about little tidbits of how to be happier. Everything was common sense or something that she would find expanded on and other books. It was as if the author took her favorite advice from other reading and bulleted it for her own. She also uses the book to plug several of her other books. It was just OK. Can’t say I would follow up on anything else by her.

Well Done!

Well written, thought out little self help and reminder book when in a rut. Well done, short, to the point and would be a good book to read to your young kids and talk about, then have them read to you and talk about, then read some more on there own as teens, young adults and frustrated parents.

What a great book

I could not put this down and I ended up reading it in one sitting!! I found myself nodding in agreement and say yep I know that or that's true, but then thinking well, why don't I do it then! Great tips and I will find myself referring back to this book over and over again........

This was not a bad book but it was filled with a lot of extremely trite motivational phrases. None of the advice is groundbreaking. That said, it did talk about solid motivational strategies. For someone just starting on a journey of self-improvement, this could be a easy on-ramp.

This was pretty much just a regurgitation of every inspiration post and piece of advice I'v ever seen on the internet. I thought it would have something new to offer to the conversation. I learned nothing I didn't already know.

Used some of these tips in presentations to my staff of Resident Assistants. Motivation is quite the issue on college campuses in and outside of the classroom and I kept receiving feedback that these tips continue to follow my RA's through life.

There are some decent nuggets in this short and easy to read book. A few nice freebies as well. Good enough to take the hour or two to read. You’ll pull something out of it useful.

Common sense

Much of what is written is common sense. But I guess it's good because people do need a reminder every now and then. Common sense isn't common. It's good to get a reminder and this book does just that.

Interesting read.

Some useful tips here if you are struggling with motivation. However some are a little bit obvious but put together in this way could provide inspiration for some people.

I really loved this book. I've tried applying these tips to my everyday life for years now but recently, I've needed a reminder to keep doing it, to keep having a balanced life, to dedicate myself fully to my goals but also know when to take a break and enjoy the beauty I'm surrounded by.

eh

It’s pretty much the same concepts you could find in an Instagram influencers caption. Didn’t gain much from it other than promos to read the authors other books. Multiple times.

Too many vague tips and some are not practical. Rather stay with 10 tips and expand on how to apply
