My name is Mason Sabre. I have been writing since I was a small child and discovered I could have a million adventures at the stroke of my pencil (I wasn't allowed to use pen back then). I have written more stories than I could even publish, some of them I wouldn't ever put out, but I have had a blast writing them. I love writing, I love reading. I love to have a fictional adventure. When I am not doing that I am with my children or studying. I have a lifelong love of learning too.

I live in the North of England. It's a little chilly here and a little wet, but it is what I call home and where pretty much all of my stories are based.

The Prolog of book The Rise of the Phoenix (The Society # 1) by Mason Saber is quite solid, but it is still in his mind that the signs of what should happen. The main character of the boy, Phoenix, is well written, his life was completely destroyed after the death of his mother for which he was in some way responsible. Father throws him out of the house and he is left to the world where there are people and the other-werewolf. He became second after the boy's bite he had accidentally met. But the world is dangerous to others. If you are a fan of this genre of books you will love it.

This book is just the beginning of something truly special.Though it is stark, almost like a perfect white room,it's pearly walls oozes droplets of blood & in those beads of pain lies the words that make up this story.A thirteen year old boy who was never meant's to be 'other' loses more than his soul on a childish whim & results in widespread destruction when he becomes an outcast.

So, when is the next book being released?!

This is a promising beginning to what can be an amazing series. This is a heartbreakingly , wonderfully written back story and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this 13 year old boy grows into this new life.

Mason Sabre's newest entry into the Paranormal/Urban genre is a heartbreaking story of a 13-year old boy who believes he caused his mother's death. He is brutally evicted from his home and wanders for days, scavenging for food, denying the Other inside him who is trying to take over. His search for a place to belong is sad and filled with longing and left me in tears. I understand there is more to come in this series, introducing Others, like the boy. I hope he finally finds the society in which he fits.

The Rise of the Phoenix is a heart-wrenching story of surviving even when your heart doesn’t want to carry on. The emotion is raw, palpable, and painful. One could dare to say cathartic even.

The characters are well developed and lay the groundwork for a great series. I look forward to seeing the man Phoenix grows to be and how he embraces his Wolf.

This book was a great start. The only issue I had was it ended too soon. It was just getting really good. I will read the next book because I have to know what happens.

I have been staring at this cover for a while now... It just speaks, "read me... " After hearing several other readers say that this is a series to watch. I had to buy it... I am not disappointed either.

Mason Sabre delivers a no holds barred, action packed, gripping story that will rivot you right where you sit until the last word.

What would you do if your whole world turned upside down with a single twist of fate?

We have a thirteen year old boy who has been through a world of pain and scarred. Some parts almost brought me to tears, while others had me questioning "WTF" just happened. Bring it ON!!

I don't use spoilers in my reviews, as they can ruin a book for some. All I can say is
Heck Yeah!! More Please!!!

If you like a read that will keep you on the edge of your seat...this series is a sure bet to Amaze you. Brilliant start

A promising beginning to a new series. A story about a boy whose life is suddenly turned upside down, trying to survive in a world where humans and "others" are co existing but with feelings of hatred and resentment between the two. Guilt ridden and confused after his mother's death, turrned into "other" himself, he finds himself alone, an outcast to his old life. This introduction fills you with anticipation for the continuation of the series. Hopefully, the next book will be coming out soon.

My first book of Mason Sabre. A heartbreaking story of a thirteen year old boy who accidently got his mother killed. This was beautifully written and brought tears to my eyes. I hope that boy finds some peace and a safe haven in later books. Can't wait to read more.

This was a quick read. It's listed as a prequel to the rest of the Society series. Tracy discovered it and recommended it. It was the sad tale of a 13 year old boy who is changed from Human to Other and loses his friends, family, home and way of life as a result. It really grabbed my heartstrings and hurt me to read it. I did struggle with the writing, however. It was challenging to get through at times. Still, I'm curious enough to read a full-length novel set in the same world.

I was quite excited by this book and enjoyed it quite thouroughly. One of my all time favourites is another story about a boy warewolf.
I found myself a bit perturbed by the them and us attitude. However it looks like a very promising series.

Right from the get go I was horrified by the cruelty that a person could show a child. This book broke my heart over and over again. The boy, which is what he is called in the book is still just a boy in my eyes, yet he was treated like a grown man. My heart absolutely ached for him. His father on the other hand I wanted to crawl into this book and beat the crap out of him then just go and snuggle that poor child.
This story intrigued me because it was a world where humans new about the supernatural creatures they labeled as “Others” They lived amongst each other. Each fearing the other.
I felt like the authors writing style was amazing. There is a scene in the book where the boy and his mother are walking up to an old farm house. The writing was so good that I could visualize it as if I was standing right along with them.
Through this entire book this poor child gets beat up and beat down and he keeps on going not letting it completely be is undoing. Right when he finds a little bit of solace the book ends. So I can’t wait for the next book to come out to see what in store for him.

I would most definitely recommend this book to others!

The Rise of the Phoenix is an immersing short story that introduces us to a brand-new series about a fantastical world of Humans and Others. A young boy finds himself balancing between two races that despise each other - Humans, the race he was born into, and Others, a powerful race of supernatural beings that he was turned into. Neither will accept him as he is no longer considered Human, but neither an authentic Other.
It is an intriguing introduction to the Society Series as we meet one of the future heroes of the story, while at the same time getting a feel for what the series holds in store for us.
Phoenix is a character that you will immediately sympathise with - vulnerable, lost, and yet with great underlying strength and intelligence. You will be eager to find out more about the man he turns into and how - or if - he survives. Will the Others finally accept him? Will he be able to build a future for himself and let go of his harrowing past?
Well-written and gripping, the story lures us in and makes us impatient to read on. Mason Sabre has a wonderful imagination and true talent, and I am raring and excited to start the Society Series.

I have never had the pleasure of reading any of Mason Sabre’s work until today and it was riveting.

Rise of the Phoenix is the first book in a much anticipated series and although it was a tease into the realm of the wolves with a quick read, it was also very well written and emotional.

Rise of the Phoenix is about a 13 year old boy who carries the pain and guilt of his mother’s death because of his curiosity of wanting to know what it feels like to be one of the others. What are the others you may be asking? The others are wolves, just as human as can be but slightly with higher senses and strength. Outcasts they are deemed.

Mason Sabre has created a potential master piece with passion attached to every word. The emotional overdrive between this 13 year old boy and his father will have your heart breaking because it hits to close to everyday life. The tears, the anger, regrets, and fear that this character faced in such a short time will definitely make him into the personality that readers can never walk away from or forget.

I am eager to venture more into this society that Mason Sabre brilliantly created!

The Rise of the Phoenix is a heart wrenching short story of a 13yr old boy is left on his own; shunned from his own family for the death of a loved one; thrown to the wolves with nowhere to go.

“You’re dead to me. I will never accept one of your kind into my life. Do not ever come back here.”

He starts his journey in search for something… a place where he belongs now that he is no longer a human but considered an “other” with no direction and not willing to allow the beast inside him to grow, to feed & to control him.

“He stood there, absolutely still, and let his eyes roam over the path, searching for answers. But the problem was he didn’t know what the questions were.”

This author has a way with his words; giving you the ability to feel every emotion with the character. I’m excited to see how this story continues and if this young boy will find a place of his own; a place where he belongs.

A book with so much potential. As a self published author I have no problem showing support to my fellow SP AUTHORS so I did not hesitate to purchase this book. First, right on the cover it takes that it is a novel. Can you call a piece of work a novel if it's only about 60 pages? This seemed more like a short story to me. Also you can call me old fashioned but I love the feel of a book in my hand so I instantly gravitate to the paperback copies. Based on the size of this book the paperback copy should not have been an option. It should only be available in ebook. Second, because it is such a short story getting to the theme of the stort shouldn't have taken 5 chapters when the book is only 7 chapters long. There were so many ways that this story could have been developed and the author failed to realize that.

Excellent British writing, sad and surreal story of a young boy who wonders and then finds out what it would be like to be a wolf. Excellent start to a new series by the author Mason Sabre.

"Like the echoes of the sea caught in the womb of a seashell, the deafening roar in is head made it impossible to lose himself in his thoughts."

"He fought the black dots on his vision. They swam like thousands of moths in the light. They knitted together in front of his eyes until they formed a darkened veil that blinded him. He was sinking, falling backwards into some kind of oblivion. They suddenly, he was floating."

The Rise of the Phoenix is a short introduction to a new series, Phoenix is a young boy trying to come to terms with his new situation, and the loss of his mum and being outcast by his family, The author is brilliant in that his words pull you into the story, it give you feelings of sadness and sorrow for the boy, but at the end of the book also a little hope.
I waited as long as i could to read this as i get very impatient waiting the next ones but i read teasers etc and couldn't wait any longer, i read it in one night as i couldn't put it down, hopefully book 2 should soon follow.
Well done Mason another gripping, entertaining story, can't wait to see what happens next!!

Review by Whitney at The Club

At 13, he lost his mother and was cast out of his family by his father. A single mistake turning him into part wolf caused this chain of events. So he has no choice but to leave and reflect on everything while trying to survive in a world where wolfs or 'Others' are not welcome.

I wanted to cry for this poor boy. It was heartbreaking seeing just how he was treated because he had been bitten by an Other. Losing his mom and blaming himself along with everyone else blaming him including his family was heartbreaking. I loved the writing and the way the author portrayed his thoughts and feelings. I felt them myself. I hope to read more of his story.

Exceptional prelude into the Society Series, Rise of the Phoenix is a hearwrenching journey of the young Phoenix and whats lead him to the land of Others.
As each page turned I just wanted to reach in and wrap this youngin up and tell him it would be OK. The emotions pouring off the page were beyond what any child should ever go through alone and I felt it all right along side him. Excited for the next book to see how it all transpires, shifter or human how will he survive.

Where to begin...this was such a gut wrenching story! WOW!! My emotions were all over the place. I was so very sad and beyond angry, but at the very end I was left with HOPE!! After reading this, I told myself to make sure my kids knew how much I loved them and how proud I was to be their mom! This was so much more that a paranormal story. I adored this book and I'm looking forward to reading CADE!!

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN
This is the heartbreaking story of a boy who is outcast. Not quite human anymore and not quite wolf either. Forced to leave the only home he's ever known, he's alone. Where will he go? What will become of him? This is such an incredible story. Extremely well written. This introduction to the Society books leaves you craving more. I'm so glad I have Cade waiting in my Kindle.

This story will keep you glued to every word and before you know it the last one will be read and you'll be in need of more. These characters will quickly become ones you fall in love with and want to fight for. Only having read a few paranormal/shifter books this series has become one of my favorites. You will be transported by the words. This author has become one of my go to authors.

A heartbreaking tale of "the boy" who no fault of his own causes the death of his mother and is thrown out of his home. Out on his own with nothing and no one to help him at 13 years old, this story follows his first few weeks on his own, dealing with becoming a shifter and trying to survive. It is a great start to what should be an amazing series.
