Fourth Debt

Fifth Book in the New York Times Bestselling Series.

“We’d won. We’d cut through the lies and treachery and promised an alliance that would free us both. But even as we won, we lost. We didn’t see what was coming. We didn’t know we had to plan a resurrection.”

Nila Weaver fell in love. She gifted her entire soul to a man she believed was worthy. And in the process, she destroyed herself. Three debts paid, the fourth only days away. The Debt Inheritance has almost claimed another victim.

Jethro Hawk fell in love. He let down his walls to a woman he believed was his cure. For a moment, he was free. But then he paid the ultimate price.

There is no more love. Only war. Hope is dead. Now, there is only death all around them.

★★★★★! Fourth Debt, book 5 of 7. The dark & sexual tale of Jethro’s quest to collect a centuries old debt from Nila continues with chaos & trickery!

“Live for me. Breathe for me. Come back to life for me.”

Books in Indebted Serial should be read in order:
Books in Indebted Serial should be read in order:
Book 1: Debt Inheritance
Book 2: First Debt
Book 3: Second Debt
Book 4: Third Debt
Book 5: Fourth Debt
Book 6: Final Debt
Book 7: Indebted Epilogue

In Indebted, book 1-4 fashion designer Nila Weaver, Threads was forcefully taken by the mysterious Jethro Hawk, Jet. Upon her arrival at Jet’s ancestor’s home she was informed that she was to repay a debt owed to his family by her family for centuries.

The story went on to follow Nila in her captivity; the power struggle and sexual tension that ensued followed by an emotional connection while she was forced to make cruel payments on the debt while falling in love with her captor.

Fourth Debt (book 5) opens up to utter turmoil. With an unresolved third debt and a looming fourth debt Jet and Nila and their future is in jeopardy. The story goes onto to follow them battle for everything they hold dear

It’s a fight against time in a centuries’ old menacing game of retribution amidst sex, deceit, betrayal and lies with ever-changing rules and powerful unseen forces out to destroy them…

 photo di1HxBSbysb_zpsbafc04f0.gif

I’m craving Jethro Hawk, Jet! A product of an abusive upbringing he learned early on to coop with his destiny, all traces of goodness obliterated, until Nila. Ten words to describe Jethro: Ruthless, mercurial, complex, conflicted, determined, commanding, vengeful, tortured, stubborn and enduring.

 photo di1hexBSbysb_zpse2164352.gif

Nine words to describe Nila Weaver, Threads: Naïve, focused, impressionable, frail, spirited, feisty, confused, calculated and strong.

Fourth Debt, told from dual POVs with its modern day fairytale with raw, dark and intense twists.. What cannot be denied is that Jet and Nila are destined to be together while reality is set on tearing them apart. Story ends with yet another shocker paving the way for a coveted book 6, Final Debt for the conclusion of their saga.

Sinister, suspenseful and unpredictable plot! Spellbinding story-telling! Complex, swoon-worthy and addictive Jethro!

** 3-3,5 “Kes…My poor Kes” STARS **

“Anyone can arrange flowers, but it takes a seamstress to turn BLOOD into a design.”
~ NILA

description

I guess having high expectations always has the risk of being disappointed at the end...but I was still surprised by this one.

“It’s no longer Hawk versus Weaver. We’re the new generation. We’ve inherited the sins of our forebears.

But we’ll be the ones who will change history.
~ JASMINE

description

Please don't hate me, but I am slightly underwhelmed by Nila and her fight alone. The truth is...all her bada**ness seemed a tad bit funny to me. Nila is a strong woman, sure, in her own way, but she is just not the fighting kind. She can stay up and straight even after all the tortures she's been through, she can keep her psyche stable even while suffering through mental breakdowns, she loves fiercely and is willing to do EVERYTHING for the man she loves...but she just doesn't really fight in the sense of drawing blood, you know? Which makes me feel like all her promises of death and blood are rather laughable. She needs Jethro by herself for that...

At least that's what I think... :)

Their reign was over. It was time for a new ruler. One who stood for justice rather than debts. One who would avenge those she’d lost.

They’ve underestimated me. And they would die because of it.
~ NILA

description

BOREDOM was the dominant feeling I had for the first 50% of the book...and that makes me want to cry, because I LOOOOOVE this series. I am a huge-a** fan and would have never thought I could yawn through a book with Nila and Jethro. But it happened. Even after I wasn't that much excited. The story was a bit too slow for me, I guess.

Love was what ruined me the most.

Love was the ultimate destroyer.

But no matter how much I tried to let go…I COULDN’T.
~ NILA

description

That doesn't mean I wasn't gasping for breath through the last 10% though! Seriously...WHAT THE HELL WILL HAPPEN NOW?! Goddammit, I hate cliffhangers...

OVERALL: I know this is a very non-review kind of review...but you wouldn't want any spoilers, believe me. Oh and please don't get discouraged by my words...read it and see for yourself if it's a 5-star read or not ;)

If you are following the series by now you know the ending on the last book left everyone broken and in pain. The first ten percent of this book I was a sad bubbling mess. The author takes you right back where the last book ended and the pain started all over again. I am fully invested on this series and I refused to wait until the next book so I dived in as soon as I got it. Going in I was already preparing myself to endure more torture but never imagine what it was in store for Nila. Minor spoiler if you have not read the series so read at your own risk.

Nila Weaver, was left with a broken heart after the love of her life has been taken from her by his own father. She was left alone to deal with this crazy family. Her lost made her mad and angry and all she wanted was revenge against this awful family who didn’t think twice about hurting their own blood. Cut, his evil mother Bonnie and youngest son Daniel enjoyed torturing Nila as much as they could while they could; they took pleasure using her to cause pain mentally and physically. Nila, thought she was strong enough to endure anything because she believe she could not be broken; she believed with all her heart that she could avenged her lover ”Jethro”.

“While they plotted, I plotted…Together, we would meet in hell, and I was past caring who would win.” Nila

Nila’s twin brother Vaughn was captured and kept as prisoner as well but away from her. He was forced to witness some of the torments she had to go through and that only made her fight harder so he wouldn’t get hurt. I was in tears all over again seeing how much she had to put up with and having no power to change the inevitable. This entire book was full of sorrow and even after all my tears had dried I still had to continue this madness that Pepper started. I just wanted it all to end to be over, how much more pain could Nila take before she was no longer a human. For me this book was hard to read because I was feeling so many emotions and I was hurting for this broken girl that only wanted her lover back and wanted this evil family to stop their madness.

There was some twists and turns that I was not expecting, some craziness I just can’t get out of my mind. There was a new character we hadn’t met before and I truly liked. He was a true hero in my eyes. And then there were some happy times I truly enjoyed and devoured every second of them. I was already waiting for this ending, yes it ends in another u>cliffhanger so be warned. I was not as shocked as I thought I would be however; I was anxious because now all I could think of is how on earth is this series going to end?! So many questions and no answers I guess I will have to sit patiently and wait for the last book that will complete this crazy roller coaster ride. I just know the last book in this series is going to be EPIC.

**4 Cruel Stars**

Attention: If you haven't read the previous books in the series, please avoid this review. It may contain spoilers about them. It won't have spoilers about this book though.

The previous book ended with a bang. Like every book in this series it left us hanging on a thin thread and the ending was cruel. We all needed to know what happened and how things would get evolved.

Fourth Debt starts immediately after that part, where Nila is now under the hands of the Hawks, without those who seemed to protect her. Friends seem to turn into foes and foes turn into evil monsters. Nila slowly breaks under their torturing games.

In the previous books, Nila had some serious character development, watching her grow stronger and becoming a fighter. She wants to end this barbaric tradition, she wants to take revenge, but is she going to remain that way until the very end? Especially now, without someone able to protect her and V as their prisoner?

One fact is certain: Things get really hard for our heroine, especially as fourth debt is nearby. Her time is limited and she doesn't know if she can trust anyone with everything that's been going on in Hawksridge.

Since I can't reveal much without spoiling, I'll just say that I enjoyed this book, because I love Pepper's talented writing and this series is definitely my favorite and most anticipated, since last year. I can't believe there's just one last book left and then the series will end.

Even though, I did enjoy Fourth Debt, I can't say I got crazy about it. It was a very intense read and I loved it, but if I can compare it with the previous books in the series, it didn't give me the same feeling overall. The first part was slow and not very thrilling, but thankfully it got better after a part.

We're perfect for each other. Both slightly broken. Both slightly flawed. But perfectly whole once we let our hearts become one.

Finally, I do believe that it was a book that kind of dragged in a way that it could have ended here. I'm sure Pepper will find ways to fill the last book and it will be another roller-coaster of emotions, full of twists and turns that will shock us and I can only hope we all get out of this in the end alive. Because trust me, I'm going to need a therapist after the Fourth Debt.. Judging by the tortures Nila endured and the mystery around the well-being of a character , I'm sure a therapist will be much needed in the end.

“…there was nowhere to hide. No one to save me. Only time could do that. Time that neither Jasmine, Jethro, Vaughn, nor myself had.”

“Fourth Debt” is the fifth installment in Pepper Winter’s series, entitled “Indebted” and like its predecessors it picks up right where the last book ended. So far, I really enjoyed this series – the premise, the writing, the intensity, the craziness. However, like my rating says I only liked this one. In fact, this installment was my least favorite in the series so far.

As all the installments in the series, the previous installment ended with a huge cliffhanger, seriously one of the worst I have ever read that left me with my mouth hanging open and with a broken heart for these characters. In the fourth installment in the series, entitled “Third Debt”, Nila watched how once upon a time, her biggest enemy who eventually became the love of her life was killed by his own ruthless father, Cut. She wants revenge, so she tries to be brave, to find strength and as the days pass she finds that and more…at least at first. She’s determined to survive, to be the last Weaver imprisoned by a Hawk. Jethro never left Nila, he’s still in her thoughts giving her strength…

“Jethro never left me. His voice lived in my ears, my heart, my soul.”

The psychological and mental pain for Nila seem to be worse than ever in this fifth installment. The fourth debt breaks her, and the enemies not only are stealing her freedom, but they are also stealing her faith.

description

This installment was the slowest installment in the series to me. Needless to say at times I was bored a little. It didn't have the same intensity of the previous installments and obviously it didn’t wow me. Nothing extraordinary happened. I really needed something more.

If in the previous installment the main characters’ development was very well done, here it was pretty lame. I felt for Nila, of course, but honestly she made me roll my eyes so many times. Gah! Her POV was just boring. She pretended to be a badass, but sometimes she acted just like a naïve little girl. Wake up, girl!!! I just wanted to slap her…Jethro's character was better in this installment, but I really needed more scenes with both these two MC. They spent a good part of this installment apart, which I can’t say I loved it too much.

Once again the supportive characters were interesting. I really liked Jasmine’s new side and how loyal and caring she was with her big brother. Also, I found Vaughn’s character very interesting. Cut and Bonnie were as evil as ever. God! I wanted so much to strangle them.

I have to say I wasn’t too impressed with the fourth debt. However, the medieval torture devices were pure and simple fascinating.

The story becomes more interesting and the characters more engaging only through the end and like the other installments it ends with a cliffhanger.

Overall, a great read!

Genre: Dark Erotic Romance
Type: Book 5 of 6 from Indebted series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

After losing her allies and her loved ones, Nila was grasping for the ever slipping hope. There was not one thing she could do that will not result in further damage to her heart. As the Hawks celebrated a new shift in power, Nila will have to listen to her heart and decided who was friend and who was foe.

After the shocking and intense ending of the last book, I’m sure Forth Debt became Pepper Winters’ most anticipated book. I’m sorry to say it turned out to be my least favorite book of hers that I’ve read – and I’ve read all of them. Her writing style was as beautiful as ever, but the story itself didn’t grab me and it felt dragged on.

Why focus on a fantasy when the reality threatened to destroy us?

I understand, after everything that happened in the last book, this one needed to be more mellow - specifically, Nila needed to be more mellow – for her to accept/reflect on the events. However, I didn’t feel a thing for her.

I couldn’t feel sorry for her lost, or the turmoil in her decisions. Not when she was wallowing in her loneliness, not when she’s devising a revenge plan.

“This is another checkmate in a game you’re too stupid to understand.”

The only blip of emotion I felt was towards certain rotten Hawks – for them to suffer an immeasurably painful end.

You’ll see the last things you’ll ever see. You’ll hear the last things you’ll ever hear.

I was highly disappointed with the fourth debt extraction. It was way too mild considering the nature of previous debts, especially that it was the penultimate. Ideally, it should make me scared for what to come but it was forgettable.

“She fell in love with my brother, and overnight, I became second in his life.”

For me, the best thing in this book was Jasmine. She got her chance to shine and I love seeing a different side of her. My favorite scene was of her with certain someone when she needed help completing her quest.

Even though this book wasn’t my favorite, I am still looking forward to the final book. I am truly hoping it will end with a bang – even if it could hurt.

Note:
I’m not going to lie I hope the finale will hurt big time :p

Well I'm not sure what to say about this book. I honestly only liked the last 10%!
The beginning started off where the last book ended. Leaving us to wonder if what happened in the last book was final. Of course we all knew it wasn't right. lol
The first 50% I found myself twiddling my thumbs. Nila without Jethro was just boring to me. I didn't like how we were told about the events that happened to Nila afterwards. I kind of felt the games were a little silly. An example of one of them under a spoiler below.

I loved that we got more of V and Jas and another Diamond brother that is not so faithful to Cut and Danielle. The grandmother is just as sick and twisted as her son and grandson. Oh and Kill was mentioned! Maybe he will make an appearance in the next book.

Anyway...I just kind of felt this series could of ended during this book instead of dragging it out to one more. I'm a bit bummed!

The last 10% was really good (isn't that how PW rolls. lol) and that's why it gets a 3 star rating! Although I found myself rolling my eyes at the spoiler below!

Of course it ends on a huge cliff! I will still be waiting impatiently for the next book!

Fourth Debt is the eagerly awaited follow up to the heart stopping cliffhanger we have to endure at the end of Third Debt. What will happened to our doomed couple Nila and Jethro in the sick and twisted game orchestrated by the Hawks family.

With Jethro and Kes's lives hanging in the balance, Nila was left to deal with the aftermath alone. She had to fight her own battle and had no one to trust. Is Jasmine and Flaw even on her side? I don't blame her for being all paranoid towards everyone. But to me, is obvious who is the good and bad guys.

I will kill them.
And I will dance on their graves when I do.

I always prefer the badass Nila, as opposed to dejected Nila. So when she went all gung ho and plotting to kill everyone, I'm all for it.

However, I did find the first half of the book was on the slow side and everything is on status quo. It seems like without Jethro in the picture, Nila alone didn't bring enough intensity into the story. I feel that we spent too much time with her inner turmoil and desolation. This series simply needs both its main characters to be in the same page to have the special kind of sparks.

Only until towards the last quarter whereby we are getting into the Fourth Debt payment that things started to get interesting. I'm amazed with the creative medieval tortured devices. I wonder is that made up or for real. Bonnie, Cut and Daniel are as despicable and evil as ever, you just wanted to see them die a horrible dead, slowly, torturously.

For fans of the Indebt series, you definitely wouldn't want to miss out what happened to Jethro, Nila and Kes, and Pepper even make me care for Jasmine and Vaughn as well. This end in another nail biting cliffhanger that left me anxious for the next one. I'm sure Pepper Winters will end the series with a bang. So despite my not so flattering rating for this 5th book, I still think this is a fantastic series for dark romance lover.

So I wrote this review 3 years ago with "review to come" and it never did.. I was cleaning up my docs today and there it was. So I figured better late than never. From rereading it now, I can tell you it's about two things, the story in this book getting repetitive and boring.

While I haven’t read that many erotica since it isn’t always my cup of tea, I have a few guilty pleasures. And this series is (was?) one of them. The whole circumstances of the story are outstretched and would never happen today (not in first world countries.. at least), yet… I devoured it. I read the first 2 books in one day. The series was addicting. It was hot, yes predictable but enjoyable nonetheless. I loved Nila and Jethro, they were so cute together. Short, I liked it… a lot.

While the first 3 books were great, the 4th wasn’t as good. Still, I didn’t mind. I chose this book particularly because I’m not reading much nowadays sadly and figured it would be a good quick read. I wasn’t wrong about the second part, but it wasn’t good. Maybe it has to do with the plot in this book. If you haven’t read the first 4 books, you should stop reading now.

The last book ends with Jethro and Kes’ death. Nila seems to be Daniel’s new plaything. In this book, we also see what a monster Bonnie is. However… the torture went too far (as in enough already, it’s getting boring, I'm saying about that about torture yes but this is fiction and enough already, at least sum it up, Winters) and we did not get much of my beloved Jethro! Yes, it’s not a spoiler that he’ll come back. We could’ve seen it miles away. This book got repetitive, we didn't see anything new. Nila’s “I want to kill them” “they’ll pay” started to annoy me because she wasn’t really planning (yes, I’m very much aware that she can’t do anything) but she only had murderous thoughts all the time –which to be expected but we don’t need to read the same recycled lines all the damn time. Stop the damn monologues and empty threats.

I found myself often losing interest (something that never happened with the other books) and I forced myself to read it. Nila was annoying, little character development here in this book. She was trying too hard to look badass. She just bored me eventually. She lost her shit only when they cut her hair! What the fuck! I also agree with everything Melanie said in her review.

Many Nina alone moments and so little of Jet made the book underwhelming. I’m glad we saw some development among the secondary characters (about time) but it was not enough to save this book. Even when shit started happening by the last 10% of the book, I just couldn’t connect to the story as I did in the previous books. However, I’m taking a moment to express my horror at the medieval torture devices (who knew there were so creative, not me). I felt too sorry for Nila.. It’s a wonder she survived all of this completely sane (yes I know sometimes that something silly would make someone tip, here cutting her hair buuuuut I couldn't buy it).

Another thing that frustrated me was the foreshadowing. Enough teasers. Stop adding new elements to keep us interested enough to read the next book. It’s getting so repetitive and I’m losing interest already. Gladly only 1 book is left. Although the ending is predictable, I feel like it’s too late to stop now. However, I won’t be reading it anytime soon.

Having finished the series, I can say it started great but went downhill after the first two books. The last book was even worse than this one.

This series has captivated me in a huge way! I have been glued to my Kindle hoping somehow good will conquer evil!!! I can’t say I am hopeful at the moment! Especially considering that cliffy!! Pepper Winters may be the Queen of Darkness; but she is also Queen of cliffhangers too! Each book in this series has ended with a doozy of a cliffy, that makes it impossible not to want to continue immediately! I am glad to tell you this series is completed, so you can definitely pick up the next instalment right away!

Thanks to my dear Buddy Reader, Steph! This one has been an emotional roller coaster ride! It’s been terrifying, heartbreaking and at times tear jerking! Thanks for reading this with me Steph!!❤️ My fingers are crossed that good will conquer evil in a big way during the next instalment... and just this once I’d like to throw in some torture to the enemies! They’ve been horrendous and deserve some major karma dished out to them!!!

I highly recommend this series if you haven’t already read it! Just beware; it’s a bumpy ride!😂

Help Pepper Winters has done it again with this amazing, spine tingling, nerve wrecking best seller! My collage says what I can't, the tone of the story was drastically different from the others. Darker, more sinister, thought provoking and gut wrenching, my heart broke and rebroke. How does one not lose themselves or break after evil has taken over? Going in with the first book you tasted innocence, purity but we are now four books after the fact, so that cherry has long since been popped! Death is such a slippery slope, you can almost visualize and smell the decaying ancestral Weaver corpses, sprouting out of the grave just to drag Nila to hell. Oooh but wait a minute I'm getting ahead of myself, she's already there, surrounded by the remaining Hawks.

I'd tell you what all the images are, but ahhhhh where's the fun in that? You my friend will have to read the book to learn which device is which and how it was used. No freebies from me! Ms. Winter's you've seriously out done yourself. I'm still wigged out learning some of that appalling history!

I'm still loving this series, but this was my least favorite. Maybe that's due to the separation of Nila and Jethro during this one or maybe I just want a damn HEA already!
These poor characters can't seem to catch a break.
And maybe I'm slow...

I still cannot wait for the last book. I hope one of my favorite couples gets the revenge they deserve.

5 "will it ever end" stars

so now that I lived through all the fucked up, sick and twisted shit Nila endures again repaying her Fourth debt I had to repress my own killing urge and hatred

towards the following characters (not necessarily in that order): Bonnie, Cut, Daniel - those devious, murderous, sick mother fuckers of bastards who should end up in flames after being treated the same "kindness" that they have shown to Nila

- there my little emoticon in a shape of a heart is in state of ZEN and I am just relieved for reaching an ending of this instalment in one piece.

Pepper...sweet, lovable, dear Pepper...you should know by now that

BUT you are destroying me bit by bit with slow pace that only enhence the intensity of those torments...and I know you did it cause you can...

BUT I will prevail and I will wait for the FINAL DEBT to come...
and I will win...
even if I have to take them one by one ALL by myself

p.s.thank you for

I can't say much about this book because I don't want to give the plot away but I was completely and totally immersed once again in the world of the Weavers and the Hawks!! This book has a little bit of a different tone to it than the previous books because there are lots of questions that are answered. This series is EPIC!! (And I would LOVE to see it made into a mini-series.) I'm in denial that there is only one more book left in this series! I don't know how Ms. Winters dreams up these plots, but I'm glad she has such an incredibly vivid imagination and I can't wait for the next book in the Weaver/Hawk family saga.

4.5 Tortuous Stars!

Torture, that's the theme of this book. I've been anxiously awaiting the release of this book to find out what happens next and I finally got to sit down and read it. Not only was Nila tortured at almost every turn, but so was I.

Cut, Daniel and Bonnie made it their mission to torture Nila every chance they got and their methods were medieval, literally. I had to look up a lot of the torture devices they used. I hurt for Nila. I was pleasantly surprised by Jaz though. I'm so happy that she basically stepped in and tried to make sure the punishments projected onto Nila were no where near as bad as they could have been -- just like what Jethro would have done. Flaw was also a surprising new twist. I like him. I hope I continue to like him.

Was everything going to be okay? That was the biggest question. Did we get that answer? Yes, Pepper Winters answered that question, but in her ever torturing ways she left me with so many more. Especially with that last chapter. I need the next book now! November can't come fast enough for me.

Fourth Debt by Pepper Winters

Book#5 in the Indebted Series

After being left heartbroken from the ending of The Fourth Debt I had mixed emotions about starting the next instalment, not due to the intrigue of it but because I was not sure if I was ready to experience all the heart wrenching emotions all over again.

This book sees the series take a slight turn in direction as answers to long lying questions come to surface and puzzle pieces are beginning to create a clearer picture.

Jethro’s and Kes’s death has left Nila devastated and heartbroken she appears defeated now as the remaining of the Hawk family fight over Nila’s possession. Jasmine seeks vengeance, she holds Nila responsible for the death of Jethro and Kes, but Daniel’s fights for her is nothing more than for his own personal gratification.

The debt is not over, there is still more blood to be spilled. Unexpected alliances are made and a shift in power that could change everything! The final debt is approaching but will Nila
Hold onto your stomach, still your heart and get your tissues ready for another head spinning instalment in the Indebted Series.

MY THOUGHTS:
My stomach churned as I read Nila’s physical abuse and torment is this instalment. It was graphic, emotional and raw. Pepper’s writing talent creates an almost tangible scene, outlining each breath, each heartbeat so that you feel like you’re amongst the very pages of her story.
I love Pepper Winters and I am dedicated to the Indebted series but I have to admit I found it hard and tedious at times to get through this book. I think it’s only due to the length of the series that has me exhausted finding it becoming too drawn out. I one more book left in the series then the epilogue.

Great Series, OK Serial

Pepper Winters is one of my favorite authors, and even though I've loved this series, I have to say it is getting a little tedious. It is a good thing that there's only one more book, because I'm not sure I'd make it through any more than that. You really can get too much of a good thing, in some instances.

With Jethro and Kes "dead" at the end of the last book, 'Fourth Debt' begins with the remaining Hawk siblings vying for possession of Nila. Jas seems to be out for revenge, blaming Nila for their deaths. Daniel, on the other hand, just wants to have his perverse way with her.

No longer is Nila sheltered from this crazed family. She suffers their cruelty and becomes a target for their sadistic games. At one point, it seems that she's finally submitted to the Hawks' will, defeated and broken.

Meanwhile, she has made some secret allies, fighting behind the scenes to end this barbaric family legacy. Things are not as they seem. Although, you had probably guessed a few of the "twists" by the time you finished the last book.

No major surprises or revelations this time around. Bonnie, Daniel and Cut are as deranged as ever. As expected, there is a big shake-up cliffhanger ending, leaving me dying to know how the last book will wrap up this story. I'll definitely be first in line for the finale, but this time around I just felt like the story was going in circles. It kept going on and on, but I didn't feel like much progress was made.

So I started "Fourth Debt" this morning and it's now 4pm and I'm done with it and holy mother heaven, Pepper Winters ... seriously???? I didn't think this crazy ride that is the "Indebted Series" could pick up any more momentum but this author is seriously bringing out the big guns now. I thought I'd seen it all with that mother of all gutsy endings in "Third Debt" but hell no. Just as I thought things had started to come to a head and the picture was becoming clearer, the parts of the puzzle starting to fit a little more seamlessly, this author decided to throw in all sorts of twists and turns, leaving me (yet again) trying to catch all of the spinning plates. I'm so screwed when it comes to figuring out how all of this is going to end because each and every time I've come up with a theory, it's been blown to smithereens!!!!
From one indebted to another, you're not forgotten. I love you. I miss you. I only think of you.

So yup that "Third Debt" ending... Is he? Isn't he? I couldn't possibly say but if you thought Nila had seen the worst of her torture, think again. There was no let up, no reprieve for her in paying the debts of her forefathers and with Pepper Winters twisted mind deciding on all manners of fucked up middle age torture methods, I was left truly devastated for her. Google images became my best friend (or worst enemy as the case may be) as I bought up image after image of the sheer brutality this woman had to endure and honestly, what I saw put the fear of god into me. Thank the lord we no longer live in those times where such methods are deemed acceptable forms of punishment. Poor Nila. Despite growing in strength, confidence and conviction. Despite wrapping her heart in a blanket of ice and allowing numbness to consume her, I wondered whether everything the Hawks would put her through would eventually tear down her walls and break her. And if she did break, could I blame her? Absolutely not. She had endured so much already.
My heart kept beating, but I was no longer alive. I wasn't human. I was a killer waiting for first blood.

This fifth book in the "Indebted Series" really helped to shed some light on some of the previous Weaver women who had suffered at the hands of the Hawk men (Nila's mother and great great grandmother in particular) and let's just say, what I discovered was definitely an eye opener. In fact the more things came to light, the more I realised, nothing was quite as it appeared and the more answers I got, the more questions came up and so the vicious cycle continued. As I read like my life depended on it, my mind remained in a constant state of high alert as I tried to decipher who was friend and who was foe. If payment for debts inherited wasn't enough, there were further rumblings of the need for revenge as even more truths were revealed and hearts were left shattered. Let's just say nothing would ever be the same again for the Hawks or the Weavers but if Daniel, Cut and Bonnie had anything to do with it, that fit perfectly into their evil masterplan to make Nila pay in any way, shape or form they chose. I swear to god though, that old witch of a woman seriously needs to just keel over already because she really is the devil in disguise!!!
Love was what ruined me the most. Love was the ultimate destroyer.
So Pepper Winters has continued to fuck with my head despite me thinking she couldn't fuck with it anymore than she did with the that third Debt ending but nope, she just went that extra mile to ensure she's left it in all sorts of a jumbled mess. I cannot wait for the finale in this series... I'm on tender hooks already at the thoughts of how it could all end. I want metaphorical fireworks Mrs Winters but I have a feeling that's already a given. Another ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ . Anything less would be an injustice to one hell of an amazing book and series.

EPIC. SIMPLY EPIC. I had very high expectations for this book and I was NOT disappointed. After the end of the Third Debt I was shocked, angry and devastated. This book gave me a lot of answers, made me cry, made me sigh and most of all made me FEEL.
The author does a great job capturing Nila's loss and grief. The way she has presented her heroine's emotions is simply outstanding! I devoured the book in a few hours and I am still thinking about it.
The book carries us through Nila's journey after the shocking loss of her one and only love, Jethro. She is fighting to survive in the home of evil, in the house where she learned to love and hate in equal measure. Her torture has no end, both emotional and physical. Her thoughts are a mess of revenge and love. She wants the remaining Hawks to pay for what they did to Jethro, and in her attempt to avenge him, she will find unexpected friends and enemies.
Daniel seriously creeped me out; he is just creepy and disgusting. Cut made me shiver. Jaz had me making googly eyes all the time with her acts and Nila broke me. She is just an amazing heroine and what she goes through will have your heart breaking! Vaughn was simply fantastic in the role that he has to play in this book!
The writing was, of course, phenomenal. The author knows her craft well and with this book she proves how well she can orchestrate scenarios and make you believe, make you feel what her heroes are going through.
This book is slightly different from the previous ones in terms of character development and settings. It's refreshing and without giving away any spoilers, you will simply love it! Especially the ending. Trust me.
I CANNOT wait for the final book. This series is epic!

5 DELICIOUSLY TORTURED STARS FROM ME!!! BEST BOOK OF THE SUMMER FOR ME.

FUNNY HOW LIFE plays practical jokes.

The past few days—that had to be a fucking joke, right?

There was no logical answer that would make sense to what I’d seen, heard, and lived the past seventy-two hours.

My sister.

My best-friend and twin.

This was what she’d been living with? This was how she’d been treated?

This was what she wanted to return to?

Motherfucking why? Why would she ever want to return to this insanity?

We’d been raised in a broken home, chained to an empire that absorbed us right from birth. But we were kept safe, warm, and loved. We grew up together. We shared everything.

But now…I had no fucking clue who my sister was.

But then she came to me.

A woman I never knew existed.

The most stunning creature I’d ever seen.

Only she didn’t come to me on feet or wings of an angel. She rolled into my life and demanded my help.

And for better or for worse.

I helped her.

Wow, jethro groveling? I never expect this.and he done it beautifully. Heart breaking beautiful
His desperation to have Nyla as his is the center of this book.

I becomes more symphatic to Jethro is the previois book. And the Fourth Debt seals my love for him. The story and the plot becomes thicken. With all of Miss Winter talent for writing such dramatic story, I want to see more decelopment from the antagonist characters. Daniel, Brian and heck even the grandma.so far their character is just far away in the background.

Overall, this is a wonderful read for my weekend

I've been hooked on this series since the beginning. Out of all the books in this series, this one was my least favorite. It did drag a bit and I definitely felt like it was a "filler" book and a prelude to the dramatic series conclusion. There was a lot of inner dialogue and setting up for the final book.

Even though this wasn't my fave, Pepper still wrote a beautiful story and I cannot wait for the Final Debt.

The heartbreak and grieve I was feeling after I finished Third Debt is something I will never forget about, those feelings wrapped around my heart and mind for WEEKS...

And then I was gifted a copy of Fourth a Debt and I thought yes il get all my answers and I'd have my soul back Jethro Hawk. I got all excited starting the first chapter, I just thought yeah this was a miss understanding Jethro is not dead. He can't be he is the main character. Even Kes my heart honestly ached for him. I grew to love him so much as a character.

Well let's just say I didn't get that. And I felt crushed. Honestly my heart, what was left of it just shattered into tiny pieces I couldn't even find them. My soul died along with them.

Agony I'd never experienced cracked my heart into tiny pieces. My every thought bled with murder and death.

Im going to try and go through my emotions as quickly as possible without giving to much away, as I feel this book is very spoilerish.

Pepper takes you on a ride of heartache and desperation with Fourth Debt, there are so many lows you can't help but wonder, if there is going to be any highs. What Nila goes through in this book broke my soul, I felt every pain, every bleed of her heart because it just screams of each page. Pepper knows how to take your heart and crush it in the palm of her hand. But I would not of had it any other way. For me this is the darkest book yet in the series. I'd even go as far as to say the cruelest. My Nila is strong but things that she has to face any woman would of finally broke. And the worst thing is she had no one to catch her when she would fall.... Or did she? You'll have to read it to find out.

My hate evolved into a living, breathing thing. There was nothing left but loathing.

There was quite a few twists and turns I didn't really see coming, I hated one person at the beginning then loved them by the end, this is what I mean with Pepper she likes to play with your head a little, I think she secretly loves to twist up your mind. But I love her for it. She keeps you on your toes constantly, and that is the beauty of her writing.
What Nila experiences in the book honestly made me cry so damn much. She is my strong beautiful lady, and what they did too her I will never forget. But one thing I will say she never  backed down (to a certain degree) she still had that  fight that I fell in love with from Debt Inheritance and il always adored that about her. Even though that damn mouth can get her into the world of trouble.

I had no choice. Die or kill. Fight or defeat.

Of course I felt like my heart had finally been healed when I came to the last stages of the book, certain things had me like WTF HOW?!? But just when you get that flicker of hope, Pepper crushes that fantasy straight away.

It's like you have a out body experience where you watch your self screaming NOOOO!!

Pepper Winters is a stunning magically writer. She captures you, with her words and steals your heart with her men, she makes you want to become a stronger women because of her female characters and I better person because of the evil she creates, I honestly have hopelessly fell in love with her writing hand. She will forever be my Queen.

One dimensional villains who "chuckle" and "smirk" incessantly? Check.
Googling masked as research? Check.
Diamond mines in Africa 400 years prior to the discovery of diamonds? Check.
Unenforcable legal debts? Check!
Prime ministers like Winston Churchill & Margaret Thatcher, plus an assorted number of kings, queens and diplomats that have signed the death warrants of innocent women as late as the 1900's, just because the Hawks are so powerful? Check!!
Made this reader want to bang her head against the closest hard surface? CHECK!!!

Yes, all you Brits out there: Pepper IS in fact saying that England - a democracy - is nothing more than a banana republic in disguise. That your ruthless papparazzis, known for their exposees of royalty, celebrities and politicians, have failed to notice this gigantic scandal that would topple people of real power...

Worst of all; Pepper shuts down completely when she's confronted with her shoddy work, lack of quality control and credibility.
Because who cares, "It's about the emotion!" (Yes, that's what the author more or less replied.)

*Sigh*

The quality of education must be dropping like a stone if her fans consider this a well researched book. Fourth Debt is a result of basic googling at best, and whatever betas she's using are either lacking the knowledge or the guts to tell her she needs to focus of quality control.

I can only conclude that the clever people stopped reading a long time ago - when Pepper placed Milan in Spain.

Which begs the question, why do I continue reading this series?

*Facepalm*
